Happy weekend! I have to say, it has felt like the weekend the last several day. This whole "lack of schedule" is still weird to me.

The weather was just perfect here yesterday. My mom and I got about 2 hours in at the lake. It was chilly when the sun went behind the clouds but once it came back out it was perfect perfect perfect! It was just the two of us at our spot so we had some opportunity to catch up, just us. My mom always seems to call me at 7pm, while I am hooked up to my IV, watching TV with Gary and mentally drained. If I can get a couple of coherent sentences out, it is a success. But when my mom starts telling me what she ate for b-fast, and then how she folded her laundry, I get a *bit* impatient. Just a teeny bit. For realz... haha!
So yeah, it was nice to be able to talk.

Dinner with just Gary, Brendan and me was a little awkward but I am sure it will get easier as time goes on. he is so polite and grateful that he is able to be here.

No plans at all this weekend. I guess that is good???

What are your plans? have a lot of fun!!!!

Nancy- I shouldn't laugh, but your road trip is hysterical in a horrifying way!!! Did you see this?
http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/...t_cities_for_drivers_in_the.html#incart_river
If Weehawken were bigger, it would be up there too :D
A bunch of years ago, we were meeting up with some Lyme Friends in Jersey City. Gary used to drive in that are all of the time as his company was based out of Carlstadt. For non NY/NJ people, these are all right outside of NYC, very congested area and like Nancy said, crazy drivers.
He missed the street we were supposed to turn down and saw the signs for the Lincoln Tunnel, he made a quick right and OMG- it was a one way street and we were the wrong way. Talk about hanging on for dear life!!! I don't know what would have been worse, heading into the City and having to pay with our first born for the Toll and then getting back out of the City, or going down that one way street. Good times!
I am so glad that you were able to get the check book to your son in one piece. His building sounds wonderful- nothing like a view of NY! And good for him to bring you dinner!

Sharon- I wish I knew why some days are tougher than others in general, not just at the pool! But good for you, for sticking with it, even when you feel like you are going slower. Do you remember just this past spring how you said you weren't sure you would even put a bathing suit on? And look at you now!!!
Teeth whitening- I tired those strips once and they tasted so terrible they made me gag. I also drink way to much coffee to keep the stains at bay. But I hope that they work for you, let us know the outcome!

Gotta go, Jaida is barking at something. I hope that this territorial barking at other dogs on the street gets less after she gets spayed. *fingers crossed* have a fabulous scrap happy day!

good morning - rain and thunder just went through my part of NJ. We are to have our annual block party this afternoon so hoping the rain is done but I think there may be more in the afternoon. My DIL and I are going to the Rock this afternoon to see the final scrimmage by the prospects. This was a season ticket holders perk to get tickets first. This should be a lot of fun. So I am not getting much scrapping done LOL. But I am taking lots of photos. Got in a good walk as yesterday was gorgeous. Also went to the grocery store and made Orange Chicken. It was so good and pretty healthy too as the chicken pieces were baked not fried. So funny I saw this recipe on FB.

Chris I checked out that link and it is pretty true about these cities being crazy. I think the problem is that half the people know where they are going and the other half don't LOL. You day at the lake sounded awesome. How fun for your mom to have the one on one time with you just like you love with your kids. So if nothing else this should show you that you will have these times with your kids even as they have grown into adults with their own lives. It must have been a little strange for Brendan too to be at dinner with you but it must feel so good to let him have a dinner with out being yelled at or made to feel so inferior.

Sharon my son used those white strips (he is a heavy coffee drinker) and it made a huge difference. I loved the way his teeth looked. After all the money I had spent on his teeth with braces and stuff good to see them flashy white! I think all have slower days during our exercising. The main thing is just that you did it! Your husband sounds like me. I am loving the Tour. Froome is amazing and his team is so strong!

Have a great day all!

Hi Nancy! how are you, all ready for 99% humidity today? Right now, it is not too bad, so I am going to try to get outside for some yard work early on today. Then it will be inside in the afternoon. We are supposed to break 90* and a "real feel" over 100*+ We are typically a bit cooler up here, so you will be more than that, :faint2: If you are going to walk, do that early!
Today is the kind of day I really wish I didn't have a PICC line, it would be awesome to go to the lake and just float around in the water.
Can you link me up to your Orange Chicken Recipe again? I know you did before and I don't know what I did with it. I want to make that one day when Brendan is here for dinner, since he eats meat. If I c=make that with rice and broccoli Cait will be all set too.

Cait made a really good vegetarian dish last night. Spicy Sweet Potato Salad. Roasted sweet potatoes with jalapeno and green onions. I think she cooked 5 nights the past week. I like that!

How was the Scrimmage? Looking fwd to seeing your Gallery full of Hockey players soon!
So if nothing else this should show you that you will have these times with your kids even as they have grown into adults with their own lives.
Thank you soooo much for pointing that out. Next time I start missing my kids again, I will remember this.

Sharon, Trudy, Jean, Astrid -- Phyllis!!-- hope all of you are well! And to anyone else who stops by, have a wonderful day!!!

good morning - we had hit the hot summer days here in NJ. Today is day one for a heat wave where the temps are expected to be over 90s for the next 3 days. There is not even a breeze and the cicadas are buzzing! So funny to think that yesterday while watching the hockey scrimmage I was cold. Hockey in July - it was awesome. They scored and they were competitive and it was totally fun. I went with my DIL and we had a fun time. We went right home after the game and over to the block party. OMgosh everyone brings such good food. And it is fun to catch up with everyone. And it was so nice to have my whole family there. I took no photos lol. Today is a do nothing day. Just watching the TdF. Some fans of the race are so disrespectful. One fan through a cup of urine on the leading rider. That is disgusting!

Chris here is the link for the orange chicken - I think the sauce could be used for anything I would just switch out the chicken broth and use veggie broth. http://12tomatoes.com/2014/09/asian...spy-lowsugar-orange-chicken&utm_term=20150713

Have a great day all!

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. Absolutely nothing going on with me, except scrapping. Love that the Artsy Template challenge came when it did...great motivation to scrap all the photos my DS has been sharing, of his hikes and camping trips. He's getting to be a really good iPhoneographer! Just a few years ago he couldn't get the main subject in focus, or the horizon line even close to straight, much less compose anything interesting. Now he's a rock star with his phone/camera!

We're expecting 93* here today. Not sure about the humidity, but probably safe to say, not as bad as you NJ gals are going to get.

I'm about done with the camping photos, so maybe this afternoon I'll try my hand at the Collab Challenge. Chris, LOVE the LO you did of you and Cait. That is one priceless photo. So wish I had photos of me with my kids like that. I know the moments happened, but who just shot them back in those days (pre-digital)? Not MY DH!

OH! The whitening strips are working! ALREADY...just 3 applications. I put them on, then sit at the computer. Nothing makes 30 minutes fly like being at the computer! And I disguise the taste by rinsing my mouth with mouthwash just before doing it. Why didn't I think to do this years ago????? I'm a late-bloomer.

Nancy, enjoy your sports this weekend! And lets be glad we're not at St. Andrews in Scotland where they are trying to play golf in a gale!

Lethargy is my word for the weekend. Though it isn't super hot out, it is humid and without A/C, this room is running at 85* My sister's DD or DIL have covered the last several days, but don't know about the coming week. At least we got to have lunch with my niece who lives in California. That was great. So far so good with my sister.

Chris, I'm sure things will smooth out with Brendan as you all get used to it. How great to have Cait cooking! Hope you're surviving the humidity. Do we remember our laments during the winter now?

Nancy, just the thought of hockey is nice as a reminder of ice and cold. ;) Chris is right, hope you got out early if you're walking today.

Sharon, I'm impressed with the whitening strips you're using. I have so many crowns that I don't think they'd be good for me, but I sure don't have bright white teeth.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.
