Just wow-- a gorgeous day ahead here in NJ. Wishing that I could send my blue skies to the Gulf and New Orleans. They are going to be flooded with all of the rain they are going to get.
Sharon- I hope that you are doing OK where you are, I know you are in that area.

I had a very successful shopping trip and now I own a new pair of good sneakers.:whoo: It made sense to go to a sporting goods store because as soon as I told the salesperson that I needed a good sneaker and that I have orthotics, she pointed me in the right direction, got me a few different styles and I found the right one in no time. I only wish I was still a little kid who believes that new sneakers will make me run faster and jump higher!

I am still concerned about my mom. She is still in a lot of pain and has a hard time walking and driving. Her Dr had suggested PT to her and she shot that right down. But after talking to me- and to my dad but she tends to be more open-minded when I say the same thing - she is going to ask him about sending her for it. I think she is so scared to move wrong that she is overcompensating with the other side of her body. BTDT when I threw out my neck- it caused pain all through my body from trying to keep my neck still so I get that. I also told her the story of me laughing at how I tip over non-stop when I try to balance so she knows it is ok to look silly. She gets self-conscious and would not go back if she thinks people are laughing at her. Better to laugh at yourself. :p

Gary and I watched the second episode of "When They See Us" on Netflix last night. It is only 4 episodes so technically we could have binged it and been done, but OMG-- it is too intense and sad. If you haven't seen or heard anything about it, it is the true story of how five innocent boys were found guilty of raping a woman in NYC in 1989. It was a huge story here back in the day, and I guess from what the show is saying, a national one as well. It is heartbreaking how they show the trial of these children and you hope that they will be found innocent, but you know that they won't. How the whole system and case was stacked against them from the very first minute. And in hindsight, you also realize how very little has changed (especially in light of the Jeffrey Epstein case, be a rich white man and you can do just about anything :mad2: ) You can see why you can only watch in small doses.

I am going to do some housework this morning and then enjoy my yard and maybe even read on the patio for a bit. My ILs are coming up for dinner tomorrow so I won't be able to do much of that so I should take advantage of the quiet day today.

HAGD!!!

Nancy- it was good that there wasn't much wind here either. 1.5" in Newark, yikes the roads must have been very flooded there too.
Too funny that your DS lost the remote but found a good workaround for you with your phone.

Felis-I hope that you can find the book- the author's husband is a Bulgarian scholar according to her bio. One of the first observations the main character has about the people in Sophia was about how elegant they were. That has to be a good sign :)
Did you get all caught up with your To-Do lists? hope so!

I don't mind spiders or flies, but these centipede things are so gross. blech!

Kay ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) Thanks for letting us know how you are, come back and chat when you are ready xo

Hello Chris and  to the other girls!
Yes I was able to finished all planed yesterday, and use it as excuse that I'm too tired to join to the grocery shopping today. I feels guilty (because that means that others from my family have to get my orders too), but not enough to force me to go. So to lull my conscience I made the weekend's cleaning of the cat house today ;) .
But before that I had the whole morning for myself and the whole house for my own  . I still can't make the layout with the flowers to looks as I want, it's pits. So I'll concentrate on other pages and turn back later. It's really just something really small that needs, but can make it looks right. Maybe will rain at the night, so afternoon was cooler and we enjoyed of this lovely weather too!

Chris, I'll get this book on the next book sale. Sounds interesting! I was not hear about "When They See Us" or the case, but it sounds interesting too, and have to check it!
Congrats for the sneakers! This for the little kid is so true, yeah, I also miss the way we was able to enjoy on every little things when we was kids! So bad about your mom! Can you go at the same PT or she will have to search for another? System is made so complicated, so I'm not surprised she prefer to skip this, but I hope you are good example for her and will encourage her to make something for improvement.

Kay, what more can I say just  !

Happy Sunday! Yesterday was just a gorgeous day here and I spent a few hours outside, weeding and cleaning out a small baby pool that Gary garbage-picked last year. We are trying to get W to go and get sticks from it when it is filled with water. She is interested in it but not 100% enjoying it yet. J sniffs at it and then backs away.
I am happy too- I see some baby zucchini starting to grow! Now if they can get big enough to pick before the critters eat them. *fingers crossed* The chipmunks have been getting to the tomatoes and the birds got to the blueberries.
My ILs are coming up this afternoon so I am going to clean up this morning and prep for food shopping too.

Felis- I wish you lived here so I could keep asking you questions about the book and Bulgaria. The characters are looking for a person and they traveled from Sophia to a monastery in the mountains. Then off to a village. She describes the dogs that run in packs and the scenery and it makes me think of you.
I also have to say in my very American ignorance is that it made me realize that you read and write in an entirely different alphabet. No wonder you worry about your translations sometimes. You are amazing, it is something I don't think I could ever do properly.
Great job getting everything on your To-Do lists done. I can't say that I blame you one bit about not wanting to go grocery shopping. I am sorry that you are still struggling with your scrap page too.
My mom lives 45 minutes away from me so she would need to go to another PT facility. But there will be a lot more in her area than up here by me and I am sure that my dad will help her out too.

Thanks for all the love and support, gals. Still a bit sad but the mood is improving from how it was last week.

Had a not so good event happen yesterday. Lost my internet and home phone line - it is part of a bundle with my TV service from the cable company. It went out shortly after noon and didn't get it back until sometime during the night. It was crazy as I still had my cable TV service but not the rest of it. So glad to wake up and see it was all back to working this morning. Granddaughter had stopped by around noon but I was in the shower so didn't hear the doorbell. DD#1 came over to check on me early last evening as she couldn't get through on the phone.... it went directly to the answering service and I didn't hear my cell phone as it was buried in my purse in another room. Glad to know that they check on me when they couldn't reach me.

At least I was able to get more photos scanned in to the computer. And I worked on some CT pages even though I couldn't get on-line.

Today is granddaughter's birthday so the family is going out to eat to celebrate. Not sure if it will be at lunch or dinner yet.

It has been so HOT... 100 - 103!!!! I have been hibernating staying inside where it is cool. Woke up to 74 at 5:30 AM so know it will be another very hot day again. Not opening the house at all today. I miss the fresh air and (usually) cool breezes.

We are still having lovely weather and I've had some fun things to do. Wednesday the lady from the library did come to our senior center genealogy group. She looked so very young among us! She is developing local history and genealogy related programing and had interesting things to share but we had ideas for her too. It was quite nice.
Thursday we had art class after a week off for the holiday. Some of us hadn't done anything during that two weeks. I did start a new piece with which I'm happy. Friday I walked up to the local art festival enjoying sunshine and cooler weather. It was gorgeous. I got a new ring and talked to a mixed media artist I've seen there before. His work isn't like mine but I feel a real affinity to his. It was interesting to see that he is now adding bits of turquoise to some. DH had done his bird survey in the morning so didn't feel like doing that extra walking, so went alone. Actually pretty good for me as I'm really slow at the walk now and didn't have to try to keep up. Later today he's joining some from H&S to play for the block party of one of the long-time members.
And we've heard the screech owl more nights, including last night. We get such a thrill from that.

Chirs, wonderful that you've been enjoying outdoor time! Bet it's fun watching the dogs think about the baby pool. If W ever gets the hang of it, she'll want to be there a lot. Not like eating ice in the winter, but she could have a good time. Good luck with getting produce before the critters do. And you know my opinion of PT, so no surprise I really hope your mom will do it.

Kay, hope you continue to feel more the thing. Having internet and phone out must have been maddening, but at least it had the up side of knowing your family is truly looking out for you. That heat has to make indoors the thing, rather like us "hibernating" in the winter in colder places. Enjoy the grand's birthday meal with the family.

Felis, you did really well to finish the to-do list. And getting out of the grocery shopping must have felt really good. Hope you can find what you're missing for that scrap page. The book Chris is reading sounds interesting. We know very little about Bulgaria in the US, I think. And I will second Chris is saying that you do well to communicate with us in English when it is so far from your first language. I know I'm very happy not having to learn English as a second language as it is full of quirks and contradictions.

Have a good one, all.

Hello ladies!
I had fun time reading your comments and answering them!
I can't hide that I'm thrilled! Lazy afternoon here, it was unusual cold, but this makes my pets more playful and we enjoy it a lot!

Chris, Funny that you mentioned the different alphabet, because I plan to show one of ours most specific at this month Letter Art. LOL thanks for your kind word, but I'm not sure did I'll be able to handle without Google Translate and spell check. At the high school we had mandatory second foreign language (in addition to the first one english) and I changed it every year  I had study latin, german, spanish and I don't know any of them. The tragedy of my life is that I'm not skilful enough at orthography of my own bulgarian. I took few additional classes with different teachers, but no one was able to fix me. Which put an end to my ambition to become a writer. Years late I read how Hemingway satirize Fitzgerald for spell mistakes he make, and this isn't stop him to be a writer. I don't know why but in my country we are very pedantic to spell check and language rules, this is the first and one of the most serious insults which to use at argue with others at online forums (and our forums are mostly to argue with others).
:D It would be so nice if it was easier (understand cheaper) to travel and we all Os could meet somewhere once at month! Would be so cool to can spend day at personal touch! I know exactly what you mean about asking questions about the book, it's exactly how I'm feel about Chevy Stevens' book that Trudy shows me! And there's so many little cultural differences that shocks me, and makes Daily Ooo's my favorite place! I remember how the street dogs pack was surprised for some of you. But this is how we understand the world, everybody have to be free, and the shelters here are too much as prisons, nasty places. Oh and the fact that Biggie live outside at my yard most of the year LOL, as every typical guardian dog here. But my top was when I learned that you don't have fences! This was one of the biggest mystery for me, and I sleep much relieved after Nancy assures me that Luther do have fenced backyard LOL. Yeah, too much to discus.
Good luck with baby pool! I suffered a total failure with that, dogs don't understand it at all, and now cats use it as a huge cup :tongue1: . I'm saw at the social media so many dogs enjoy pools, but of course mine don't want  . Have fun on the dinner whit your ILs!
So bad that you can't protect your veggies, it must have some trick?! I saw some people to use net canopy to stop birds and storm of hail, but I doubt it will work for chipmunks.

Jean, How nice that the genealogy group was useful for both side, and you was able to exchange ideas! Aww, the art festival sounds lovely! I love such kind of places, unfortunately I don't go often enough! To be able to hear this screech owl is really cool! And this block party sounds very funny! Tell us when the new piece from the art class is on your blog, please!
Hmm, Verb Tenses are something really tricky for me and most of the time I'm in wrong one ;) . Strange but people even here in Europe aren't familiar with Bulgarian culture, as much as they are with Greece, even we are neighbours and share similar fates. Almost everyone is hear some Greek Myths and know who is Zeus, and we have myths and ancient buildings from the same periods, but tourists mostly know us as destination with cheap alcohol. We are weak in presentation, I'm not sure why?!

Kay, Happy birthday to your granddaughter and best wishes to her! Don't rush, we know that your grief is deep and these blue periods are something expected. We are here for you! It's difficult for the whole your family, and I'm not surprised that they was so worried when can't found you. I hope you'll be able to pretend well on the bday celebration, and who knows maybe even truly to get fun!
Ouch, to not have web connection is something that really drives me crazy! Nice that it was fast repaired. Scanning and editing of all these photos, even very important, must be also exhausting?! I admire you for your persistence!
