Happy weekend my dear O-zies~!

Did you all get to relax and sleep in a bit? I was awake at the same time as always. I am still struggling with flipping between "I should get up at the same time and pretend that I have Important Things to Do Today" and "Nothing Matters."

It rained all day yesterday which was good so I could stay inside and do... Well. I scrapped a page from Wizard Night. I did two loads of laundry. I cooked a yummy dinner, one that took a bit of prep time. It was a Chrissy Teigan recipe-- lemon chicken and red potatoes with garlic/herb butter. I had a 5 lb bag of frozen chicken thighs and had to defrost the entire thing. I made two trays of the recipe so we have leftovers. Always a good thing.

Update on the new sheets- very soft but *loud* hahaha!! They rustle when you move. It was funny when I got into bed, it was surprising that they were loud. It won't make a difference once I am asleep.

Cait and I are off to the FP this morning, hoping that I am able to get coffee and peanut butter. Oh yeah, that was the other thing that I dealt with yesterday-- online food shopping. This time, there were no open spots at ,y local store when I started shopping on Thursday so I grabbed a spot up the mountain. Yesterday, I checked at the local one and there was spot for Monday, so I grabbed it. But it wouldn't let me check out and I lost that spot. There was one for Tuesday when I was able to log back in so started another order. At dinner, everyone was complaining about the produce from the local store- the green-ish bananas were rotten on the inside again. :frusty: If I am going to be paying a fortune for produce, I would like to eat it before it is disgusting. Started yet another new order for up the mountain, checked out, canceled the local order.

So felis-- feel free to share your boring days with us because that is about all I have lately too :D

Gratitudes:
-sunshine and lower humidity
-the fact that I have a plastic skeleton leg hanging from the light fixture over the DR table and *no one* in my family finds that strange :pound:
-The people who donate and volunteer at the FP-- my heart thanks you!
-ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Felis- hugs to you! How are Tiny and Biggie doing? And the kitties?

Trudy- Sorry to hear that the temps are still so chilly by you. Even I was discouraged by the steam room feeling here the other day.
What a perfect gift for Hunter! He can BBQ along with his dad! My kids had a little bouncy castle when they were his age and that thing really got stifling inside it. But worth it!
Yuck about the slugs and slipping on them. Caitlyn was out back the other day getting the memory card from the camera and thought she stepped on one of those teeny toads. I had to check the bottom of her shoe for her and there was nothing on it but she was devastated and started to cry.
The skeleton was moved by Caitlyn, not the ghost this time. Gary is the one that hung the leg from the light. My family is bonkers. :loco:

Cheryl- these threads are for everyone to read and chatter on however they are comfortable- always nice to see your smiling face. Come back at 1 am if that is what works best:)

Nancy- did you get hit by the rain? It poured up here esp late afternoon but other than that, very little in the way of wind or flooding. Hope it wasn't bad by you either.
Can't say I blame Luther one bit for not wanted to go out in the sauna. I hope that the new coach does a great job for your team.
So the heat doesn't kill the virus? Who would have thought? /s

Felis-oh wow, I have so many reactions to your story. The first one is, Of course, he wants to date you. Then-- that is a very strange way to ask someone out. And I also worry about the safety of him, creepy! Keep an eye out for him and his friend but try not to worry at the same time.
Karma, Fate, Fortuna seem to have a very strange sense of humor lately. pfft.
The skeleton seems to show up as Guest of Honor for our theme nights and does not want to go back into the attic at all. hee hee!

xoxoxo!!!

Good morning everyone! I am up early, not sure why, just could not get back to sleep. DH is happily snoring away, so the kitchen is nice and quiet and I am enjoying my first cup of coffee. So how come I am having such a hard time finishing my layout?? I have a beautiful photo, but just can't seem to get the page to look the way I want it to!! Perhaps this morning will bring me some inspiration? I was disappointed with the shopper who picked out my produce for my on-line shopping yesterday! For some reason I guess she thought that bigger was better?? I ordered 2 zucchini, I use them to make my Zoodles and they usually have the nice firm smaller ones in the store. Well I got 1 zucchini in my order and you should see the size of it!! It's the biggest one I think I have ever seen!! DH was ok with it because he suggested I make chocolate zucchini cake with it LOL. So I suppose that now I will go to the farm market today and see if there are any that I like there. Guess I should take my mask with me, not sure how well we will be able to social distance at the farm market? The shopper also substituted a cauliflower that I ordered that was on sale, she gave me an organic one which was great, but its a humungous one too!! Then I got two more cans of baked beans than I had ordered. I think she must have been having a bad day!! LOL Guess I should not be complaining should I!! After all, I didn't have to do the shopping did I ? So today, well not sure what will be on the agenda for the day. We are supposed to have a rainy day, so other than going to the farm market there really isn't too much to do. Hopefully I will get my creative juices flowing and finish my layout and a painting that I am working on. There is always housework of course and :washing: but who wants to do that?? LOL.

Chris - I hope that the humidity has decreased for you! I know that Heather has been happy that they finally got some rain and hoping that the sun is shining again with less of a steam bath feeling! Good luck at the FP today, I hope that you get everything that you need! That is crazy what goes on with your online shopping! I love that your skeleton joins you for your theme nights! Yes your family is crazy but oh so much fun!!

Ok DH is up and wants to have coffee on the deck so I will happily join him for my second cup of the day! Have a great Saturday everyone! Do something fun today!

good afternoon - OMgosh I had such a wonderful walk this morning. I have been reeling as I now have 3 girlfriends who had breast cancer. This just does not seem real. All were caught early and require lumpectomy and then radiation. Get your mammograms! I like walking by myself I talk to God. Well as I am walking first this little boxer Rover got loose from a fellow walker and came to me for hugs. Made me so happy! Then as I headed into our local woods or wooded area there were 2 moms and 3 fawns. The fawns were playing. Then further on there was the stag and another doe. OMgosh I was so happy. Kept walking and I was sure I was hearing a hawk. Sure enough there was a red-tail on the telephone wire. He was calling. I think he was young and still hoping mom would bring dinner. Another walker went by and said he has been around. I hope he stays! This going to sound silly but I was so happy that I knew it was a hawk calling. Others just went by and never even noticed. I think something was trying to make me feel better. Then on the last bit of my walk home my son and his MG drove bye and honked and then brought us breakfast. We had such a great talk. They are so happy! So I have read two more books. OMgosh I am crazy how happy these books make me. Weather still a sauna but we had a great breeze all night so I slept well. Today will probably be more thunderstorms.

Chris we did get a lot of rain but no flooding. I think we needed the rain really bad. It is good to see the little creek with running water instead of just standing pools. Washed all the dust off the leaves. Hope you find coffee and peanut butter. Your dinner sounds awesome!

Trudy is your MG as happy to think that hockey will be starting on Aug 1. Lots of games. I saw that some of the players in Toronto were staying in Hotel X, I thought they just did not have a name but some said it was the real name of the hotel. Made me laugh. I guess one cannot complain too much if you don't do the shopping and cant explain what the veggies will be used for so they can get the correct size. But at least it is done! Enjoy the weekend!

Felis I hope your puppies and kitties are doing well.

Jean and Kay waving and hope all is well.

I am sorry, I am in another crummy headspace again. Caitlyn got her tuition bill in yesterday. $18,000 for *one* semester. And she has no idea what that semester is going to look like- in person or remote. She is scared to do in person but had a really difficult time learning during quarantine. And she does not want to be in that much debt and not be learning. She didn't get the scholarship that she had been nominated for which would have helped financially.
She is seriously considering taking the year off.

I am so conflicted. Like *seriously* conflicted and it isn't my decision to make. If she takes the year off (has to be a full year, she wouldn't be able to go for the Spring semester), then what?? She would have a really hard time finding a job, one that would keep her healthy/safe. (OMG-- the stress is messing her up-- her lip swelled up the other night as if someone had punched her. Excema/hives are out of control, her immune system is so wacked).
Would she be bored and depressed sitting home and not doing anything?
But she's also 100% correct that it a hell of a lot of debt to carry if she isn't getting the education out of it that she wants and needs.

I am sad and angry and frustrated and empty all at the same time. I know that is a contradiction of all kinds eh?

And it is hard because it didn't have to be this way. The greatest country on earth ha. :(

On the good side, I got the coffee and peanut better I needed from the FP.
So there is that.

The sun is shining today so guess where I will be?

Wishing everyone a peaceful day. And that goes for me too

Trudy- that is one of the harder things with online shopping. ShopRite has an area where you can add notes about each item for the shopper so I add for bananas- "green as possible" or garlic "large heads" Does your store have that? It might help get the right sizes you need.
What are you going to do with all of that cauliflower??
I also think that you should make chocolate zucchini cake and send it to me :D
My crazy family watched this terrible TV show last night on Netflix, Haunted. Haunting? We watched a few episodes last year, supposedly based on True Stories. But utterly ridiculous. We decided to watch a few more episodes but made fun of the entire thing and laughed our butts off. We did take the skeleton leg down but the body is still hanging out in the DR with us.

Oh, Nancy- so sorry to hear of your girlfriend's Dx. I had just said to Gary that I have to get mine done as soon as I need the new GYN in Aug. I am so overdue and while I don't think I have to worry, I am still at risk. It is great news that lumpectomies and Rads were all that was needed.
How awesome to see the fawns playing!!! And then the hawks calling, I love nature! That is the kind of stuff I need to see and hear, the same as it made you feel better too.
Keep sharing those experiences, please.
So far, the weather seems perfect today, hope it stays.

xoxo!!!!

Not sure what happened but I don't see the long post that I did yesterday. Guess it got lost in cyberspace! I will see if I can remember some of it.

I have been in a sad/mad mood this week. Sad because July 8th was the 2 1/2 year anniversary of DH's death; July 10th was DH's birthday [also the birthday of my nephew who died 10 days after hubby} and July 11th was the day that Kim - owner of The Digi Chicks - died 2 years ago. So this past week had been hard emotionally.

I am mad at a thief who targeted my front yard. On July 9th at noon, I looked out the front door to see if the garbage truck had been by yet...it had not. Everything looked normal. At 3 PM, I looked out to see a big mess on my front porch. There was a garbage bag full of rotten/decaying flowers and a beer can along with a big pile of used potting soil and one of my larger blue pots. Discovered another pile of used potting soil on the sidewalk leading to the front door. Looking around I saw that the 2nd large blue pot was missing along with my front door mat. It was 101 at the time but I had to clean up the mess as it was in the way of getting in/out of the house. I did think to take photos of it. When DD#1 was over the next day, we realized that my 2 red pots and the wrought iron stands they were on were also missing from the front of the house. I didn't report it to the police as the value was <$200 but did report it to the HOA management.

We are in the middle of huge heat wave. I had noticed a few days ago that the master bathroom - with the window made of glass bricks - was getting hotter than the master bedroom. In fact it was 5 degrees hotter! It was 103 that day. I remembered on Thursday that we had a hanging clothes tension rod for the car. Found it and put it in the window and hung a doubled over twin sheet [4 layers of fabric] to see if that would help. I was delighted to see that it was 3 degrees cooler in the bathroom vs the master bedroom. So that will do until I can get a rod and thermal curtains for that window. So glad I got it figured out as it actually got to 107 yesterday afternoon. Needless to say, I won't be going out until this heatwave breaks.

Chris, I haven't noticed any rustling noises from my sheets. Did you wash them before putting them on the bed?? Also asked DD#1 and she said she hadn't notice that either... and she, her DH and 2 dogs sleep on them. Hope the noise gets quieter after a wash or two. I put my 2nd set of sheets on the bed yesterday morning and didn't have any back pain when I did it. I love how easy it is to put them on with minimal lifting of the mattress corners ... and that the sheets stay in place.

Oh, Nancy... so sorry about your 3 friends. Hope that they can get lumpectomies and treatment soon. I got my mammo report... all is the same as last year so that is a relief.

Better get this posted before I lose it again. CYL

good day - we have lovely blue skies and lots less humidity. My DH and Luther got out and had a nice walk. Me I did too. I had to go and check if my hawk was still there. Not only was he there but so was a second bird. I hope they are a pair and not just siblings. Too me it is so special. I just don't want them scared away by me being to nosey. I am now on book 17 so not much more to go. Gosh they are fun books. My DH has been busy. First he vacuumed the dining room and now he is carpet cleaning. He does a great job.

Chris so sorry to hear about Cait. My SIL gave herself hives just by over worrying. And they were huge. So I can understand how sad for Cait. I think all schools are receiving such mixed messages on how to open safely. I know that my girlfriends kids are back in day care. She feels they are safe. I know Cait loves kids but not sure if she would feel safe. I would think with kids having to go back to school in some form that there will be need for kids to have extra help with school after the year they have had! But mostly I think that when she decided she will feel so much better. Glad you got the peanut butter!

Trudy I bet your main guy was happy with his chocolate zucchini.

Kay my sister too is in a heat wave. She is miserable. That is terrible that you got vandalized. We had that happen to us several years ago. I don't think we even put in an insurance claim as it too was less than deductible. But is such a shame when stuff you love is ruined or gone. I am so sorry for the losses making this a sad time. I always wondered what happened to digichicks. I was not on the site all that much but every so often I would check but then nothing. Hope you are beginning to feel better.

Hello girls!
I had nice and the typically boring weekend, with cleaning. Was too hot for gardening, but my yard still need it, so we hope on a some rain soon! We also have breeze at night as Nancy said, so I guess I have to gardening early at morning or late evening, but I'm not organized my schedule to allow me this. I made apple nutty bread and it was lovely as usual, although I had to use applesauce from a jar, not made by myself, as previous few times. I can say that I prefer the homemade just a little bit more, but we wasn't able to find apples. In the same direction of thoughts: it's a morello cherry time again, but non of us have idea what to do with them this year. My sister wants mom to do liqueur as the previous year, as it was tasty! But she can't find the correct recipe, and have only the 'classic one' that my aunt usually make, but we don't like it much. Shhht! Don't tell her! We have 2 morello trees, so usually we use the fruits from one and left the second to the birds, I guess this year they will received both. I love to listen them enjoying the fruits, but also I'm so worried to have them so close to the cats. My pets are fine, thank you for ask me! The heat makes them drowsy, same as for me.

Chris, the stress is so harmful, poor Cait, not surprising that this reflect on her health! I know that she is perfectionist and in this situation can't have satisfactory solution! I don't know do this is an option and did she is thinking and made research in that direction, but Europe have countries with english friendly universities and cheaper tuition bills. My sister told me for many american students in Germany. And when the course is online it doesn't really matter where she is settled.

Kay, it's awful that you got vandalized! Is it was only in your property or at neighbours too?
Oh, ::grouphug stay strong during this sad time!

Nancy, so sorry to hear for your girlfriend's results! Hope everything to went well with their treatments! ITA with Chris, love your stories for wildlife meetings! WOW, you're flicking through your book series really fast!

Trudy, it sounds so strange to me that zucchini can be used at sweet recipe, never heard it before! At my family We looked on them only as a part of salty recipes. Now I'm curious! LOL Hah, I found 23 recipes at the most popular local cooking site. I learned something new! Thank you!
Hope that your inspiration is came back!

Jean, !
