Happy weekend, my lovely Ooos! Who is ready to celebrate with picnics, parades, and/or fireworks? I hope that you have some fun plans for celebrating.
Not me, sometimes I would go to PA for the weekend, especially when the kids were little. My town's fireworks were last night but I am sure there will be more planned in nearby towns all weekend. Not so fun for my dogs. :(

Did anyone do a Finish It Friday? Anyone want to take bets if I did?
Nope. Nope, still nope. My office is a little less of a wreck than it was this time yesterday but not by much. My morning was spent stripping everything off of the bed and running several loads of laundry and lots of time in the dryer. I was making the falafel at the same time as refreshing the news for the Student Loan Forgiveness ruling. I feel awful for Caitlyn, the loan forgiveness would have made a huge difference to her- basically would have given her some breathing room for housing (rental or buying). She's eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness path if she stays at this job or one similar for 10 years, but that payment plan has a higher monthly amount which then leaves her unable to afford housing. It's definitely a Catch-22. I wish I could help. :(

No idea what I am doing today. Gary and I were thinking that we might go for a hike if he is up to it. He went go back on soft foods only again. He ate "regular food" one day and that set the diverticulosis off so I doubt he is going to want to hike.

Wishing all of you a fantastic day ahead!

xoxo

@taxed4ever I truly have no idea how time is slipping by so darn fast. How was kayaking yesterday? How nice to be going on Cowichan Lake-- just don't get spoiled over there :)
bet your toes look very pretty! Just be careful that your Raynauds feet don't turn blue/gray and match the polish at all haha!
Whew, that is good news about a successful dentist appt, even if your mouth was a little sore afterward. Oh, that reminds me, I should see if I can get one last cleaning done before I lose my health insurance. I already called my eye dr to reorder my contacts on July 13. I'll call them on Wed.

@BrightEyes I am so happy that you are able to scrap a little bit. keep on feeling better! ♥

@bcgal00 You have been super busy and social-- chores can always wait :)
Have fun at the party today!
Falafel is ground up chickpeas, parsley, and onion and then either rolled into balls or patties and fried. I make them both ways, depending on what kind of bread I have-- bun or wraps. Yesterday, I had wraps and they were really good. Of course, Gary couldn't eat them and I had the beans soaking before I know that he couldn't. :( Now I have a huge container of them which means I'll be eating them every day until they are gone.

@vickyday That's not surprising. stress really is awful and has a profound impact on the physical body. It sounds like you are having a busy weekend ahead, enjoy!

@Cherylndesigns Kinleigh sounds like she fits right in with the rest of your family LOL It's got to be in the blood LOL

@Nonni F That is the most spectacular end to a day!! Every day should end with wine and dogs.

I have to go, sorry this is rushed. Gary's stomach is in worse shape and he thinks he needs to go to the ER to get checked. He is in the shower now, I am going to head in as soon as he is done.

Wish him luck please

. I hope you all have a fun filled weekend! We are heading up to the In-Laws and hopefully we will have calm water to do a bit of paddling around in the Kayaks! Ribs and Caesar Salad for our early supper and then back home to get some rest before we get busy with some gardening etc. I did not have a good sleep last night and woke up at around 3am and tossed and turned until 6am. I should have gotten up and cleaned up my craft room or done something else productive instead of trying to get back to sleep. I hope I don't crash and burn in the afternoon! Maybe I can grab a nap on the beach LOL.

@faerywings - I really hope your Gary will be ok!! I am sending him lots of good vibes and I hope he feels bettter very soon! :loveangel: Our time in the Kayak yesterday was very peaceful and we got to watch the Canadian Olympic rowing team practice for a bit. It got very warm out there by the time we got back to the wharf, we might have to start going earlier in the morning to avoid the heat!
I feel badly for Caitlyn and so many others who are having a hard time being able to afford housing these days! I hope that she will be able to work things out so that they are able to get a home!

Ok, I need to get some brunch going and then get the the truck loaded so we can get out of here early! Have a lovely day everyone! I hope the sun shines for all of you!

Sorry for Caitlyn and especially for your DH's health! Hope you all have a great weekend. We have no plans other than I will be doing laundry and making sure the house is clean before we head out on vacation on Monday. We wanted to take the bike, but the mountains are calling for thunderstorms all next week.....scattered.....as in where we would be riding more than likely, LOL!

Good morning everyone. I'm going to cook the bacon and eggs soon to make deviled eggs to bring to a BBQ birthday party today. We don't get to see them often but when we do we really enjoy their company and we like all their friends too, so its always a fun time. Jen will stay home with the dogs. Her knee is not much better so walking is difficult. She is wearing a tensor bandage on it but hopefully will be ready to wear the more stabilizing brace soon which will enable her to walk more. Right now though it still hurts too much to put it on.

@faerywings So sorry to hear of G getting worse again. I hope they can help him.

@taxed4ever Enjoy the ribs and the kayaking today. Should be a gorgeous day out on the water.

@vickyday Enjoy the upcoming holiday although it sucks that you might get rain to interfere with your biking.

I've got lots to do this morning and want to spend lots of time outside playing with Remi before it gets too hot. HAGD everyone.

HAPPY CANADA DAY! Trudy @taxed4ever did you happen to see my "OH CANADA" lo on FB?

Kinleigh is fitting right in - and she looks identical to the way Ava looked at her age. Her little body looks exactly like Jordan's (her daddy's) and Ava's. It's kind of like DeJa'Vu. She had SO much fun in the pool yesterday, but when she was ready to get out, she let us know. She's just a happy-go-lucky little girl.

Wishing everyone a fun and safe long weekend. XOXO

I'm thinking Happy Birthday to my mother as it's the 113th anniversary of her birth. Here are a 3 photos of her:

@faerywings Hoping for good things for Gary!!

Good morning! Gary and I are sighing in relief. After a long day and many tests, the Dr said its just diverticulosis. The biggest concern was his hemoglobin since he was experiencing bleeding on top of everything else. I'm glad that we went in when we did since it was a relatively quiet morning in the ED. Had we waited until later, who knows what kind of mess it would have been? The nurse was joking about our timing and that the 4th of July weekend is the worst, with stupid drunk people blowing off fingers.
I was exhausted by the time we got back home which felt ridiculous since I did nothing but play word games on my phone for hours.

That said, everything I wanted to get done around the house never happened so that's back on for today. It's raining so no yard work to tempt me to blow it off either ;)

Thank you all so much for the good thoughts too! :lovey3:

@taxed4ever Love those gifs!! Although if that were my dogs in the 2nd one, they would have been shaking and whining over the fireworks. How was your time with the ILs? I hope you were able to enjoy the day in spite of the lack of sleep.
Did you sleep better last night? I would imagine that you did, especially being out in the fresh air and sunshine, but I know that it doesn't always work that way.

@vickyday That's too bad that the weather isn't going to cooperate for you guys to take the bike. The way the storms have been rolling through and how heavy the wind and rain has been, it's a smart decision. If you don't get a chance to pop in today, I am wishing you both a wonderful vacation as well.

@bcgal00 I was thinking of you while we were in the ED yesterday, how often you have to take D in because of his Crohn's. It's not fun for anyone but it's hard to see the guys in pain :(
I am still in shock that the healthcare by you is so awful and that Jen is still struggling to walk. Big hugs to her.
Hope you had a good time at the BBQ too.

@Cherylndesigns Love the bitmoji, it looks so different with our own faces in each of them LOL!
Kinleigh sounds utterly adorable. You have to post a picture of her and Ava at the same age -- (if her parents are ok with that).

@scrap-genie Thinking of you and your mom :hug2:
Hope you are doing great! BTW, Gary got me binoculars for my birthday so I can look at birds when we hike :)

@Nonni F Thanks for the good mojo!
What happened with the ortho and your knees?

Hugs to you all

Glad Gary is ok and that it wasn't something more serious, even though it sounds like I'm playing down the diverticulitis...I'm absolutely not! I know that can land you in the hospital too! :beatingheart::hug4:

Goo Sunday Morning!
This is the day the Lord has made! Rejoice and be glad!
Quick in and out. I'm getting ready to put the cheesy potato casserole into the oven to cook while I take my shower and get ready for church. I made the sugar free brownies yesterday.

Good news! The freezer was delivered at 3:30 yesterday! Thank You, Lord!

I messed all day yesterday but only managed to fix stuffed peppers for our supper. I played a game of rummikub with the online app with my 12 yr old GD who beat me by one move as I ran out of time on my last turn.

It was 93* and 97% humidity here yesterday. Mark worked out in it all day except for the few breaks he took. He was wiped out by night time! He worries me when he works like that! He's pretty good about staying hydrated but he needs to take more frequent breaks on days like that, as far as I'm concerned. It thundered late in the day and the air cooled off but we never did get any rain.

Today I will be working on laundry for the trip tomorrow and packing. I HATE we can't ride the bike but I'll be able to pack more clothes, etc.;):)

Ok, gotta get off and get ready to leave. Have a wonderful day and week! Party safe and smart on the 4th!

Good morning ladies. I'll be home today other than a quick play at the dog park soon and a dip in the river before it gets too hot, then I'll hop in the pool after lunch and will play outside with the dogs but will wet the patio stones for their feet. We left early afternoon and didn't get home until after 10 pm last night. Jen said Remi went to bed all day and pouted, she wouldn't eat, drink or go outside. What a pouty princess she was. Jen said a few times she was upstairs howling for me. There weren't any fireworks nearby so Taz wasn't freaked out so that was good. We saw fireworks going off downtown as we were driving home but the noise didn't carry over to our home loud enough to affect Taz.

I have to make a list today of dog kennels to call tomorrow to arrange visits to determine where the dogs will stay in the fall while we cruise.

@faerywings Glad that G was able to go home and not be admitted. Having diverticulitis sucks but glad it wasn't something worse or unexpected.

I'm getting more coffee and going to look at the tons of candid shots I took yesterday at the BBQ b-day party. I will put a folder on FB for our friends to share the photos. I love the ease of FB photo sharing. So convenient.

HAGD everyone.

Morning, all.... Had a busy day yesterday. Took my shower early. Got the laundry done, cleaned up the kitchen (sink, stove and wiped down the island/table) and updated the DVD inventory. Rested and read in the afternoon. Fixed a chef salad with avocado dressing for supper... yummy!!! There were several people setting off fireworks until around 10 PM. UGH!! I am sure there will be more fireworks set off tonight, tomorrow and on the 4th.

DD#3 maybe coming over today. I have a bunch of stuff for her to pick-up. Have a doctor's appt tomorrow afternoon. That should be the last one until Aug.

Managed to get the 1st Challenge LO done and posted this morning.

Hoping everyone has a Happy 4th of July.

@faerywings so glad he got seen and is hopefully "on the mend" from that.
Ortho said my knees are "moderate" not severe, so I'll continue limping along. lol Actually the injections helped . . . so I'll take that for what it's worth. As he said, "your file is open... come back when you need."

@faerywings I keep saying that I want to join in on the Oconversation here and I just keep missing it! I also feel like my life is so predictable that it can't be very interesting to anyone else! LOL

While we're sharing - here's my Bitmoji! LOL

happy 4th of july.jpg

We are preparing for our Independence Day celebrations. We have our front and back yard flags out. The front is one we bought, and the back is the one that flew at my parents house my whole life. We got it when my Mom died. I'm frantically cleaning for a group of 12-15 people coming over to our little starter home. We have seating for 10 if we are lucky so I'm scraping together chairs and a make shift table to make up the difference. Our kitchen table is all banged up on top (cheap Ashley furniture) and I'd love to find a table cloth for it but it's a triangle! No one makes triangles! I can put a square one on but it looks silly.

Our daughter is busily finishing her Senior year of homeschooling and has 10 essays to write and a research paper that she conveniently "forgot" she had to do. SIGH!!!!! So I spend my time asking her how far along she is on them. I hope to get her graduated with diploma in hand by end of this month. She is planning on taking a break year and working and spending the time to really decide what she wants to do and how she wants to continue her education. I would like her to do the first two years of general ed at the community college and then finish off at a trade school or university. As soon as we know her ultimate plans, we will get that started. She says she wants to be a computer game designer. Almost every kid of her generation dreams of that. I have had her research what she needs and what the job opportunities are, and I think it made her realize she has to have another aspiration also.

I won't tell you it's hot here in Vegas, but two hobbits just threw a ring in our backyard. ;)

OMGOSH what you both went through - thank God they didn't have to keep poor Gary and put him through a few days of tests. Poor guy! Tell him O Family are thinking of him.

I'm going to be doing a quick in and out because I hate to miss a day and hardly ever do. We've been busy all day here on The Ranch. Been in the pool most of the day, then came home and got dried off and went back up for dinner. Chuck didn't want to stay very late, so we came home a couple of hours ago, but you all know he NEEDS his TV time. We've had Ava's dog all day too and she just came to get her. The party is still going on full blast up there - living in the country has it's benefits - we don't have to be quiet. I can hear their music down here. It's just the kids and their friends, so they crank up the music. That Kinleigh has turned into a total water baby. She was in the pool for so long today and never wants to get out. She's very dark complected like all of our kids were so we don't have to worry about the sun.

Happy Holiday Weekend to everybody and hello Susie @pachimac . Besides spending family time, I had to do the GSO blog post today so it's been a busy one.

I'll try to get in here for a bit longer tomorrow. Hugs to all. XOXO
