Happy first weekend of 2020!
It is going to be a fun one, the new babies are going to be here by dinner time. New ratties need lots of socialization, being handled several times a day for 20 minutes at a time. That means lots of snuggling.
Cait has the smaller cage all ready for them, they will be housed separately for a month but will be able to have playtime together. It is going to be weird having tiny babies again.

I had a long day yesterday- I made myself a bit crazy. Gary bought me a new set of earbuds for Christmas and I lost them. I thought maybe they ended up in the wash or dropped them walking home from my neighbor's the day before. There was no sign of them anywhere and I wasted so much time checking and rechecking places I had already looked. I found them in my bathroom eventually. They had slipped between the vanity and the cabinet and were caught between them but never reached the floor- where I had looked. Many times. I don't know why I stressed myself out, and I mean, I really stressed myself out. They weren't expensive, only $20 and have an Amazon GC I could use. But I was mad at myself and talking s*** to me. Caitlyn got mad at me for that. She had me laughing after a while.
I think that stressing over the headphones was my wacky way of detaching from all of the personal stresses. I transferred all of my angst into something relatively ridiculous. I listened to a meditation this morning about unraveling anxiety in your brain. I think if I listen to it every day for the next bazillion days, I might actually be able to do that. :pound:

Gary and I are off to the FP this morning and then I am hoping to get some scrapping done this afternoon. Then I will wait for the babies to get home!

Have a fab day!!

Nancy- :cheer2: to the Devils-- I hope that they keep their streak going.
Your poor DH, I am glad there is no fluid in the lungs but what a pain to still be coughing so much. You are very lucky that your son will go shopping for you. I don't trust Scott to shop for me, he is way too much like his dad. haha!
I never had to deal with allergies with the dogs but I do think that they are sensitive to wheat flout. Gary made them peanut butter treats in Dec. and some combo of them ended up with diarrhea. But they do fine with their dry food. I am laughing at you having to tell Luther that he couldn't swim.
Sending you lots of happy thought back:)

Rae- wow, your break does seem like it went by very fast. You are now "food organized" on top of "time organized." You are so good at that stuff!

Jean- how exciting to get info from Ancestry! It must be fascinating to learn about this "new" relative.
Have fun with your puzzle.
Thx for the good thoughts, I was on my feet too much yesterday and I was sure feeling it at the end of the day. Yes!! So looking fwd to the babies!

kay- How is the foot today? Glad that you knew when to stop with your errands. A lot of towns in NJ are doing plastic bans and I think my town wants to do that eventually. I use plastic bags when I scoop poop and the rest go into the recycling at the supermarket.
Great news that the detergent is working so well. I have to ask Gary to help me put new sheets on the bed today so thank you for the reminder.

xoxo

Just a quick HI before heading off to the meeting. It's another gray day, but it's above freezing and no snow, both good things.

Chris, birds (and I'm sure other critters) do odd things when stressed. I think it's called displacement behavior. Maybe that's what happened with the earbuds. And I know the new babies will give you some unwinding time.

Later!

I was trying to change my go-to-sleep time but it didn't work. Ended up falling asleep and dropping my book twice before I called it quits. Tried sitting in the recliner night before last but fell asleep there before 8:30PM. So last night I snuggled into bed [as I am always cold in the evenings] and was asleep dropping my book around 9PM. So of course, I woke up at 5 AM the last few mornings.

Have another errand to run today.. saw a comforter set I would like to have but it was the wrong size. Tried 2 stores but no luck. Have one more store to try today. Been looking for a purple one for the past couple years and this is the first one that I think will coordinate with the drapes and other decorations I have in the Master. Will wait to put the new sheets on until I see if I can find the comforter set today.

Wow, we are suppose to warm up into the mid-50's today. It was 49 yesterday with no wind and sun shining. I even took off my jacket halfway through my errands. So nice to not be freezing when out and about. Oh, did I mention that they finally finished the road work on Southern"?? It is the road the PO and library are on and the main road I used to get to several other place I go. WOW... it is so nice now that it is done. No more broken pavement and bumpy road. It has been a challenging year and a half while it was being worked on. No more need to detour to avoid it now.

Jean, have a good visit at your meeting today. So happy that you now have a new branch of the family from info from a 'relative'.

Rae, so happy you have been getting things organized while you had the break. Great going, gal. I need to get the files from 1999 organized soon. Didn't get the ones from 1998 stored away like I should have so 1999's got stored in a plastic bin. Really would like to have the file drawers cleared so I put the papers where they should be for 2020.

Nancy, so sorry about your DH's continuing cough. Glad there doesn't seem to be fluid on his lungs. BTW, I had a continuing cough for over 6 months that was caused by reflux. My DD#1 figured it out and had me take some liquid antacid and that stopped the cough for a few hours. Then the doctor checked it out and that is what the problem was.

Chris, good luck on your trip to the FP. Glad Gary is going along to help you. Sorry your ankle was paining you but glad that you listened to your body and rested it. Understand your frustration over losing the earbuds and the search for them. that can make anyone crazy as you search and search for them. Glad you finally found them. I am still frustrated over the lost of a few years of photos... still searching for them since last summer.

Going to get a quick shower and run my errands early... while the foot is not aching too much. CYL

Morning O-zies!! i was very absent yesterday from here! DH decided to take the day off and so we got busy first thing in the morning, taking down the tree and getting all the rest of the Christmas decorations down and put away into the crawl space. Also had a nice long facetime with Heather, Hunter and Mason! It was nice that my Gary could spend so much time talking with the boys! They showed him all of their new toys, they got some pretty cool stuff! Then a conversation with our son Jason too, so that was great! They made it home safely and now feel like they need a real vacation LOL. This one was busy and stressful and jam packed with people!! They said they had fun, but won't ever do Disney at Christmas again!! Also Jason hooked us up with his Disney Plus account, what a great son we have!! Now I will binge watch The Madalorian and can watch all the great Disney Movies whenever I want! Today is my Sister Wendy's 65th birthday, so I will be busy making her a card today hopefully!! Not much else to do today for a change, a bit of grocery shopping but other than that I hope to be here scrapping this afternoon!

Chris - How fun to have the new little babies arriving today! Sorry that you stressed about losing your new earbuds! When something is a gift , it is always more of a stressor if you lose it! Glad that you did finally find them though!

Nancy - congrats on your Devils being winners again!! Good luck with the game today! It must cheer you up big time!! Sorry that your DH is still coughing, wonder if it some kind of allergy? I am really liking the Madalorian on Disney Plus, almost done with the first season and now will have to wait for season 2, but so much to watch with Disney! My brother and family are not near the fires thank goodness, but isn't it heartbreaking what is happening over there! It breaks my heart to see the sweet little koalas suffering so terribly and the amount of wildlife that is lost is astronomical! How will they ever get back to normal again??

Jean - Wow how wonderful to get that new info on your relative! FIL and MIL are busy trying to get lots done on Ancestry and I think that FIL is finally going to use the gift we got him for his birthday last year 3 months of world wide with Ancestry. Its about time!! They refuse to pay themselves, but for heavens sake if it is something that you are passionate about and can spend the time together doing it, then fork out the cash for a few months LOL. It's not like they can't afford it :mmph: Oh well just glad that they will get to use the gift finally! Have fun at your meeting today and hope that the weather warms up for you!

Kay - Nice that you finally got your errands done! I need to change my Avi today and get back to not being a cat LOL. Hope that your foot continues to feel good today!

Rae - Hope that you get all your errands done and can relax and scrap a bit! Then it will be back to your busy work schedule again! The sun is shining here this morning, fresh snow on the mountains, looks pretty as long as that is where it stays!! Hope you are seeing the blue sky too!

Ok I will get some breakfast going, DH was up super early and decided to go back to bed for a nap. I can hear that he is getting up so he will be hungry! Hope you all have a super great day!

good afternoon - up this morning watched World Jrs hockey and then off to my first wellness swimming exercise. It was good to be back. The water was nice and warm. There were some old faces and lots of new. One of the women wanted to know if she could travel after just one month and I and another both said no way. Now home watching hockey. Canada and Russia for the gold medal. Should be a good game. Tonight the Devils play the Avalanche. Two of my top players are out so not sure how well this game will go. But my #1 choice Nico Hischier is really becoming our star. I really like it and today he turned 21. The player that was chosen second that year Nolan Patrick is dealing with migraines. The poor kid has not played this season. My DH got the results and it even though the doctor could not hear fluid he actually does have fluid in his lungs. But must not be too worrisome as the doctor was off yesterday and will talk to him on Monday. In the meantime he coughs. I finished my project 2019 birding book so now I just have to go back and check spelling and make sure all looks ok. That makes me very happy to have finished it before the end of January. Had a nice talk with my nephew in law about our cruise. Now I have a much better feel. We are going to spend a few days in Barcelona before cruise and then after cruise off to London for a few days. So it will be fun. I warned them though that don't expect me to walk too fast. This is so exciting.

Chris congrats on the new babies. Having them to snuggle will make you happy! Sorry you lost the ear phones. I almost feel everything should have a tracking device so lost can be found.

Jean that is awesome learning about a new relative. I bet you are in heaven. Your weather sounds like ours. This morning was heavy fog! I am tired of no sun!

Kay how fun to search for a comforter. Is there a way the store could order it for you in a larger size? Glad your temp has warmed up and so has mine. It was so warm it has caused major fog! Sorry you are waking early but at least it sounds like you are sleeping well.

Trudy so glad that your relatives are not being too badly affected by the fires. I am not sure there will ever be a back to normal for the wildlife - animals and vegetation. I keep hoping they will get lots of rain. Congrats that the Christmas decorations are down and put away. Happy birthday to your sister. I am watching the Bruins now and I really do not like the Oilers.

Rae I cant believe you do a month's calendar of recipes. I have said so often just how I would like a pinky's worth of your organizational skills. I love the towhee that visits your backyard.

Have a great day all!

Good morning to youuuuuuuuu!

The temps have *dropped* like a stone and the wind kept waking me up last night. But even if it is cold, the week ahead is going to be warmer than average and above freezing. That is always good news. Just watch, as soon as the kids are back to school and have to travel every day... then it will be bad again. A mama always worries.

So the BIG happy news yesterday is that the babies are here. And yes, I have pictures that Cait sent me.
attachment.php

attachment.php

attachment.php

They are so sweet and small and soft! In the pics, they are in the bathtub eating cheerios. As an introduction technique, they can be placed in a neutral area with treats and they will eventually acclimate themselves to each other. The rescue gave Caitlyn a lot of great advice and one thing they said was to bring the "old" girls in the car when they picked the new babies up. Having them all in the same cage during a stressor (the car ride) also helps to minimize territorial feelings. One of the little ones got nipped a bit, but just once and not badly. Caitlyn had a separate carrier with her just in case it went badly but didn't need it. I didn't get to spend too much time with them last night but I did get to snuggle a bit My heart
My plan today is to spend lots of time up with them.

Aside from that highlight, I didn't do too much. My Ils popped in to say hi and they were here when the kids got home. I also started planning a small family brunch for my mom's birthday which is Wed but we will have the brunch next Sunday. The other thing that makes me happy is that Scott has plans to go hiking with my dad on Tuesday and he and Leah are going out for sushi with my ILs on Wed. It is awesome that my kids have such great relationships with their grandparents- even to go out on a double date with them :pound:
Hopefully, all of the good news will keep me away from international news. Which is not so good. (Understatement.)

What good plans do you all have today? I hope that you are able to sit back and relax!

xoxo

Oh, and the babies don't have names yet. Their foster names are Midge and Imogene. The litters are all named within a theme- these are from the "Mrs. Maisel" litter. The other girls are from the Shakespeare litter- Cordelia, Titania- and Olivia was originally Portia.
Just looking at the rescue website is fun to see how they come up with the names.

Speaking of Livvie- did I tell you about one of my gifts from Cait and that Livvie is a calendar girl? :D
The rescue makes a calendar as a fundraiser and Caitlyn submitted a photo of Liv when she had the cage decorated for Halloween so she is Miss October!!

Back to names-- if you have any ideas, Cait asked for suggestions from you.
She likes Imogene and it can keep with the Shakespeare theme if she spells it Imogen. She is liking Midge too- and has been calling her Smidge cuz she is so little. But she isn't sure that the names will fit the personalities so she is looking for lots of options.
TIA!

Jean- I am nodding with you-- it is above freezing, no snow-- good things. How was the meeting?
Yup, that sounds like me- doing odd things when stressed. Good to know there is a name for it. ;)

Kay- No matter what time I fall asleep, I still wake up between 5-6 am. It is frustrating and that is why I have mostly given up and try to be asleep or close to it around 9.
I wish there was an easier way for people like us.
Did you find the comforter? If not, maybe BB&B might have one that can be shipped.
Congrats on the road work!!! I know all too well how maddening that can be and you had to deal with it way longer than I did. It is nice to drive on new smooth roads too.
There are things that my house stole that I *still* look for after 10 years. I hope that someday your photos come back.

Trudy- Does your house feel open and empty after de-Christmasing? That is so sweet that your Gary got to spend so much time talking to the boys. I would never ever want to go to Disney at Christmas time. I can't imagine the crowd. But it has to be fun to see it all decorated. Enjoy the Mandalorian!
That is a relief that your brother is not near the fires, do they expect that they could get closer?
I can't believe that your FIL still hasn't used his gift to Ancestry!

nancy- That is fab news that you are back int eh pool- I know it was so helpful the last time. Sounds like you had a good day, full of hockey. Yikes- I hope that the fluid is able to get cleared up soon.
How exciting to start getting your cruise plans settled. When are you going? The kids and I are going to get our passport applications done tomorrow.
I am with you 100%- I wish I had a fraction of Rae's org skills!!

Better get some b-fast. xoxo!!

Just a quick in and out this AM... going to church today. Will just go for the main service [about an hour] and see how the foot does with it down the whole time. Taking my cane so I can prop it up a bit. Think I have been up on the foot too much the past couple of days... so plan on staying off of it this afternoon.

Yes... I did find the comforter. Had a big laugh as the store had both King and Queen/Full. Turns out the Queen/Full is not quite wide enough as I have an extra deep mattress sitting on a black adjustable bed-frame. Can't use the bed-skirt as there is a wide inverted "U" retainer at the foot of the bed to keep the mattress from sliding when the head is raised. So I ended up getting the King size comforter after all. It is the perfect size as the sides end about 6" up from the floor. It is a plum purple with gold accents in a Fleur de Lys diamond pattern. As it turns out ... the plum in the accent pillows is the exact same color as the drapes which has a gold band at the top. The comforter looks very light colored in the photos but that is because the gold accent threads around the pattern reflect the light.

Yesterday I left the car in the drive when I got home thinking we'd go out later, but later we decided to stay in and surprise, the world had turned white and I had to scrape it off the car to put it in the garage. But today we have lots of birds at the feeder and it is warming back up. Lots to do with Puzzle Up, my new finds, and working on evaluating new lineage applications (I got one big one yesterday and will get more on Tuesday.) Also have to write up things for, yikes, I think 3 different things. And get ready for doing talks later this month after not having to since September. And today feels like a lazy day to watch football and tonight the Golden Globes. Need Rae's organizational skills for sure!

Chris, the little ones sure are little, but I'm no help with names. Do they know the names they have now? Give them a snuggle from all of us.

Kay, what a lovely comforter and the right size after all. We only have a full size bed but I get queen size comforters to have them big enough in my opinion. Hope the foot is OK for the time it needs to be and you have a nice relaxing afternoon with it up.

Nancy, Barcelona is a place that has long fascinated me. I'd want to see Gaudi's Sagrada Família just as much as any wildlife. What a great trip that will be. Hope the hockey is still going well and DH recovers soon.

Trudy, you guys were busy getting everything put away and order restored. Hope it gives you a boost in your days. Hadn't thought about your MG not getting all the chat time you have with the boys, but it was sure nice for them to do some.

Hope it a good one.

Happy Sunday morning everyone! I am late getting in here again today! I was awake at 2:30am and could not get back to sleep! My stomach was not happy and I think it was because of the home-made pizza that I made for myself last night. Darn almond flour!! You think I would learn not to have any!! So I got up and started working on my card for my Sister and also got started on a layout. I hope to finish off both this afternoon! At 6am I crawled back into bed and did not get up until 9am! So now I am dragging myself around trying to get the :washing: started and get the bathrooms cleaned up too.

Chris - OMG the little rats are so cute and fluffly!! Glad that everyone is happy and having lots of snuggles with them! Nice to hear that the car ride home was good for them and they did not need to get separated. My In-Laws will be popping in later today also, so we will tell FIL that he can have his gift of Ancestry World wide for 6 months as it is on at half price right now. I will have to set it up for him as he really is not very tech savy LOL.

Nancy - The Bruins game was such a disappointment!! Seems like they just give up when they play against the teams that are not doing so well, its like they just don't care! So frustrating!! Hopefully they smarten up for the next game! WTG for getting back to the pool, I need to get back to swimming laps again! I bought myself a waterproof set earbuds and water proof mp3 player so I can listen to music while I swim and I am anxious to try it out! It is the only thing that I asked for, for Christmas, but did I get it?? No DH bought me hiking pants again!!! Men they do not listen!! I only dropped the hint about a million times LOL.

Kay - Hope your foot does well at church today! The comforter is beautiful and how nice that the colour matches perfectly to the drapes!!

Ok I am off to the shower and have lots to get done before I can sit and get my page finished today! Have a great day everyone!

A quick pop in as that is all I can type. Somehow I have pinched a nerve in my neck/back which causes pain everytime I lift my arm. I will be lucky to get all my postings done that are overdue. RMT tomorrow I hope.
Hopefully everyone’s new year has started off better than mine.

good late day - It has been a long since I have said anything bad about refs at one of the Devils games. The refs in hockey have been (at least it seems so to me) worse this year. My goalie was taken down going back to the net and the refs let the goal stand. It was accidental contact but it kept my goalie from getting to his net. If they don't want to call that at least they should have blown the play dead. But believe me it is not why my team lost they just are not as good as the Avs. At least my coach did not get fined $20K like the coach for the Blue Jackets for his speaking disrespectfully against the refs. The problem is there is no visible accountability by the refs. They League says there is as does the head of the refs association but how do we know. In the NBA their refs put out after a game what was wrong and right. I like that! Sorry for the rant. Had a great walk with Luther and my DH. In one direction we were with the wind and it was lovely the other direction well lets just say I need my winter coat and hat! Not many people or dogs out. The wind as Chris said is really strong! But at least mostly sunny. Came home and finally (another rant sorry) did the submit the damage to insurance company. My insurance company says I can go where ever I want. So my son did and got an estimate which I sent to the claims department. Well I heard nothing so I called and they said that was not acceptable that I had to use their app. Well that was never disclosed at the beginning of this process. But it is done. I am watching the gold medal game. I will watch more hockey during the day.

Chris those photos of the new rats are so cute. I like that they are from the Mrs. Maisel show. Smidge is a really cute name. That is great that they had good hints for how to integrate the new and old. And you are right it is cute that they Scott and Leah are going on a double date with the grandparents. Enjoy the time with the rats.

Jean enjoy the football. I am so glad the Patriots lost. It is time for a new winner. It sounds like lots of interesting things going on to keep you busy. Does this mean you painting is taking a back seat?

Trudy how nice that your main guy had such fun talking to the grandkids. And yes I am guessing that the Stanley Cup final appearance fatigue is setting in. In a few weeks will be the All Star game and the week break and then they can refresh if hey have not figured it out before then. And yes men do not listen! Have fun with the new water proof gear!

Kay that comforter is lovely. And I get larger comforters too for my bed as I want the extra coverage! Enjoy church and then rest that foot.

Have a great day all!

Back home. Propped the foot on the cane with the cane suspended between my chair seat and the wire rack underneath the seat in front of me. It was starting to ache before the hour was up so very glad I only went for the main service. Glad to be back home with foot propped up while I had brunch.

Chris, the new rat babies are adorable! Glad they gave you tips on how to handle adding them to the group. Smidge is such a fun name!

Trudy, I did the same thing.. only it was 3:30 AM when I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. Sorry your tummy was upset. Hope it is better now. What a nice gift you are giving to FiL ... and helping him get it set up!

Jean, so sorry your car was parked outside and got covered with snow. I love my garage door opener - I go ahead and pull in even if I plan on going out later... especially now in the winter when the weather is so changeable. And also in the summer when the car gets way too hot sitting in the sun.

Oh, Kythe... so sorry about the pinched nerve in the neck that is causing you lots of pain when you try to use your arm.

Nancy, glad that at least one half of the walk was okay... just sad that the wind was against you on the other half. Sorry that the hockey game was not good... both the refs and calls and the team for not playing good.

Heading for the recliner with my book and hope I don't fall asleep. But that wouldn't surprise me if I do since I only had 5 hours of sleep.

Good afternoon, everyone. It's been a busy wkend with family and this morning I met up with a photography group and went to Granville Island to take macro photos in the market. It was fun to hang out with other photographers.

I'm just popping in to say hi as I'm busy editing and doing desk work and then am heading upstairs to watch a few episodes of Mr. Robot with hubs before dinner.

Kythe and Kay - sending healthy vibes your way.

Enjoy the day, everyone!
