Last weekend of January- it makes me happy (one month of winter weather down, 2 more to go) and anxious (WTH did the month go??).

Sorry that I never made it back to this thread yesterday. By the time I got my act together, I spent some time talking to Scott and Gary, then my mom got here and then we were off. By the time we got back, Cait and I waited impatiently for the guys to get back so we could give the puppers their cake and the Wubba.

Gary was feeling good enough to go to see Star Wars with Scott. yay!! Did I tell you guys that they were hoping to do it but Gary's health wasn't cooperating? Anyway, Scott and Gary-- huge SW fans, and always went to see the new movies in the theaters when Scott was little. Seriously, so happy for them that they got to do this. We were joking that this was the first time since Christmas that Gary left the 2 mile radius in town- the farthest he had been was to pick up Brendan from work. This was the third time Scott saw the movie and the first time he saw it in 3D.

Puppers loved their b-day cake. It was carrot and peanut butter cake, with a smear of PB for "frosting." And the Giant Wubba- huge hit with Jaida. I don't think Ray has enough teeth left to hang onto it. And the thing is heavy! I said to the fam it was not one to be thrown in the house. It would put a hole in a wall if it got hit LOL
I took a whole bunch of pictures with my ancient little P&S. That ended with me trying to turn it off, but hit the shutter button by accident as I was holding it pointing right at my face, only a few inches away. My kids laughed and laughed when I fell over, totally blinded. hahahah!!

Off with Cait to do the dry run to Walmart this morning. Then she is baby sitting in the afternoon. I have to figure out my life a bit. Some day, I will nail it-- I am confident that I will have it all figured out. HA!!!!!!!!

Hope that all of you have a super day!

PS: Yeah, here it was, Saturday morning, and I *still* woke up at 5am! grrrrr
Don't you hate that????

Lemme see if I can do a catch up with all of you here:)

Friday:

Kat- hahahah!!! A bug! Too funny! There is nothing that doesn't surprise me about guys. Glad you figured out the noise so he doesn't have to sleep in the hall again.;)

Nancy- We still have a lot of snow here, since it keeps refreezing. Even yesterday I don't think we got over freezing temps during the day.
Enjoy the All Stars, and I am with you on proof reading. I am terrible at that too and spell check seems to make it even worse, my eyes and brain have gotten lazy.

Trudy- oh wow!!! 8" is a LOT of rain!!! Glad that your getaway wasn't this weekend. What is Norwex? Something fun to buy? Hope the weather cooperated cuz there is nothing worse than driving in the dark in pouring rain. Well, driving int he snow might be worse but both are stressful!
This Farmers Market is packed every time I go in there. Yesterday I got purple potatoes for 1.29/lb, heirloom grape/cherry tomatoes for $2/pint, and blackberries for $2.50. Next time I go in, different things will be on sale but in some ways that is part of the fun. Hope you find a good market nearby.
Good for Heather to start physio again! It is so important for house bound-ish people, like Gary, to get out of the house, mentally as much as physically. Even I needed to get out of the house yesterday for a change in scenery.

Rae- hope that you didn't get loaded up too badly with work.
That is great that Taz liked his new toys! What is it about dog that love the squeakers so much? Jaida will get it in her mouth and just run in circles squeaking it over and over. They are such characters. Hope that you don't have too many chores to do today.

xo

well, I have to say, Chris, while you were awake at five, I was not - for a change! Bill got up with haddie and I didn't even hear them. Not even when they came back to bed and - apparently - Haddie decided to lay all over my feet! (she likes to touch someone or something while she sleeps) Just got up about 20 minutes ago ... the house is eerily quiet, except for my fingers on the keyboard and a ticking of a wall clock.

Going to be a busy errand-related day today. Stan NEEDS a haircut, whether he likes it or not, so I'm dragging his but to the salon. We need a new microwave ... maybe a trip to IKEA for some window shopping ... and study. I MUST study for my certification exam, which is on the 15th!

So, while it's quiet here, I'm going to take a look around the galleries and do a little scrapping. A bit of "ME" time. :)

Kat- glad I was not the only one who kept thinking it was Friday!
Still chuckling over the bug!

Oh man! Nancy! That is one heck of a laundry list of car repairs. You are probably so thankful that your son can fix all of that for you.
Yay for Luther being a good boy! Typically here is always someone home, but it is really nice to walk int he door and not fin anything chewed or peed on.

So-- Mad Dogs is on Amazon Prime (we get the student discount-one year was free and it is $40-something a year after that since we signed up to order Scott's college text books. You can use it for anything, which was really wonderful during the holidays).
Anyway... I digress. Ramble actually. Mad Dogs isn't a comedy. Well, it is a *very* dark comedy. I don't even know how I would describe it except it is a vacation gone wrong in Belize. Drug cartels, corruption and a group of very hapless, self centered friends where if anything can go wrong, it does. Badly.
If you have a very warped sense of humor, like I do, you might like it.

Trudy- I know! I have such a hard time scrapping too. You would think that being immersed in old photos, I would be inspired to knock a page or two, but aside from the Feb Challenge pages, nada. Hope that the mojo comes back to us both.
The pic is right on my desktop so I don't know why I keep forgetting about it :pound:
The story of my life!

Must post this to let the dogs out.

Be back soon...

Hi Kat! Good to hear that you slept in, Princess J is the same way, needs that contact. Ray is the opposite, usually she will curl up near me but not on top of me.
Have a great day! Scott needs a hair cut too (the joys of curly hair, it just goes *poof*) but I have leaned the hard way that if I tell him to get a hair cut he won't just to assert himself. Stubborn Taurus men!
Good luck studying too.

Rae-*fingers still crossed for the perfect job for you*
Years ago, I was an independent contractor for ACDSee Systems and what a great gig that was. I could work at home, as many hours as it took me to do what I needed to do, days that I felt good, I could get a lot done, the days that I needed to spend at the drs for any one of us, that day's work got pushed into the next. I was really bummed when we were all let go.
Oh yeah, my family has insane senses of humor, and it is all the same. Not everyone "gets" us but we get each other. I can't remember what we were laughing about the other night but we were at the dinner table acting stuff out, making puns, just riffing off of each other.

Kat- :pound: I wish it was still Thursday cuz I would:director:"Get back to work!" and don't :pout:at the noise co-workers.
hah!!!!
And I *never* noticed the crown on the sheep! Ya learn something new every day!

Zanthia- stop by whenever you can, no worries about much you type.:)

Happy end of the month- I have made it through 3 weeks of my job and 4 weeks of a changed way of eating. I have enough energy at the end of the day to prepare for the next. I have released nearly 10 pounds! I think I am going to find time to begin scrapping again!

good morning! Well a lot of my car problems are covered under warranty thank goodness but the brakes are not. But at least I know my son is doing the repairs. Hopefully I will get it today. My son was up early to get his car in for its maintenance and so I was up early and got Luther out for a good long walk. Omgosh it was so pretty out this am. No one up and the sun coming up. Really a wonderful time to walk. Luther met two dogs on the walk and he was so happy and so good. Makes me happy! And for me the best is he does not bark. Today just lazy with getting my laundry done. My DH is doing some home made gate stuff. Hopefully we will see if it works out!

Chris that is such good news that Gary and Scott saw Star Wars together! And yes we are getting refreezing at night but during the day we are above freezing so we are getting a slow melt. The road are clear and most of the sidewalks are good and only a few of the corners require Luther and I to go over the hill of snow. Loved hearing about the doggies birthday party. I can't wait to see the photos.

Trudy that is an amazing amount of rainfall. Glad you missed it. I too am wondering what Norwex is?

Laurie so glad that your work is going well and loss of weight too! Very impressed. Glad you will so find time for scrapping again!

Kat good luck with getting that hair cut done. Fortunately my son like his short so he knows when to get it cut! Have fun at IKEA!

Rae hope you did not get to burdened with work on your last day! Hope the transcription goes well!

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. I'm off to the gym now. First time in months (since I had thrown out my back in the early summer). I'm going to do a bit of everything (treadmill, bike, weight machines and floor core exercises). I won't push myself too much b/c my body is going to have to get used to this again. At my age ,I can't go hog wild b/c I'll end up pulling or straining something. I'm going to go again in the early morning this week which I'd never done before. I'm not a morning person so not sure how hard that will be.

It'll be good to de-stress at the gym. I don't talk about it, but my GD has drug/alcohol addiction and some mental issues. It's been a struggle for her, these last few years, and we were so hopeful when she finally agreed to go into a treatment center a few weeks ago. She left last wkend and went back, then left again last night. I think she is close to losing out on this opportunity for help. I can't talk too much about it b/c it just totally stresses me out and makes me so sad I can't think straight. She's got an amazingly high IQ and is so loving and wonderful but her life is fading away with the drugs and alcohol and these mental conditions. If you pray, pls do so for Bailey. She's 18 and so messed up /depressed that we worry about what the future holds for her.

It's hard to see someone you love go thru that and I am helpless to do anything for her except pray that she will come out the other end of this.

Have a great day, ladies. I'm out of here...heading to the gym to unwind. Later I hope to scrap and get chores/errands done. I'm sure the day will fly by.

Love when puppies - or older dogs who are still puppies at heart - find their forever home. Haddie's an adopted rescue and we're so happy to be able to give her a great life, even her first 18 months to two years pretty much sucked. LOL we got her a new toy to play with today since she's been cooped up inside with the snow (with her arthritis, I didn't want to take her for walks in the snow and ice) ... she's in heaven! There's fluffy insides from the dragon all over the place! She's one heck of a smart dog. We got the noisemakers out before she could swallow them, but I teased her with one in my hand, poking at the head of the dragon, so she was all over that ... and then she stopped, poked her nose another the entirety of the toy, and stopped. Looked at me with a, "really, mom?!" kind of look. Not to worry, she's still pulling the fluff out, regardless!

All the errands done except one: getting the car washed. The line was way too long!

good morning - well I posted a video on Facebook of Luther jumping catching a ball last night. The lighting is dark but it does show just how hi this dog can jump. My son had fun doing the video. Got in two good walk with Luther. He met another German Shepherd on our walk and he did great. The other Shepherd is 4 so he was not really in play mode but they seemed to enjoy meeting each other. I think I really have to get this puppy with other dogs. Finally got my car back and OMgosh it rides so well. So nice to have it back even it I don't drive it every day! Watched the hockey All Star weekend skill competition and what fun! The guys really have skills and they really seemed to be enjoying themselves and putting on a show for the fans.

Kat congrats on getting the errands done! My car was washed when I picked it up and what fun to drive it all clean up after the snow storm.

Rae so sorry to hear about Bailey. I have a young relative that too is having a harder life than needed. She does not want help - it is so sad because at these young ages they often think they know it all. I will pray for her. I love my walks for the same reason as your going to the gym it is a stress reliever for sure! Good luck getting up early!

Zanthia congrats on finding a home for your foster dog. Such a joy for all of you - a win win win!

Chris - Trudy hope you are having a great weekend!

G'morning Nancy!
Got here a bit later than I expected, since imy internet was down again. The router needs to be reset every time and every darn time I try to do it, I seem to make it worse.

I saw that video of Luther- crazy how high he can jump! How old is he now? He is younger than Jaida but not by that much IIRC? What a gorgeous guy he is.

As you can tell by me being here, Caitlyn had a successful dry run down the highway. She is still a bit nervous with merging, which I totally understand. All I can say is that I am glad we don't live closer to NYC- the main highway to the Lincoln Tunnel, Rt 3 doesn't have merging lanes. At all. And the people will *not* let you in, so you basically have to close your eyes, punch it and hope for the best ;)
Up here, it isn't great but waaaaaay better than that.

Scott is at Leah's and Brendan was at work so it was just Cait, Gary and me for dinner and we caught up on a couple of episodes of Face-Off, a special effects make-up reality show. This is the only reality show that I will watch b/c there is no drama between the contestants and they get judged by actual make up artists for major movies. It amazes us how they get 3 days to put together a character, prosthetics and make up and wardrobe and have it look like something you would actually see on TV/movies. Usually. some of them are pretty darn awful but I give these people so much credit since I can't mold/paint a stick figure LOL
Nice mellow day.
Today I am back to work on the photo albums and will meet up with BFFATS for a walk in the afternoon.
Hope that everyone has a perfect day too!

Kat- did you have a successful trip at IKEA?

Laurie- good for you on all fronts! 10lbs is awesome. Thrilled to have you start scrapping again!

Nancy- good thing you don't mind the cold! I wanted to scoop the poop yesterday am and the shovel/scooper are frozen together. Too cold for me to stand there and try to bang them apart. Another day!
Hope all of the car stuff got taken care of.

Woo hoo Rae!!! How was it getting back to the gym? How are you feeling today?
I *hafta hafta hafta* get moving a bit again. Yoga is really the only thing that I can do but I never can seem to get my act together to remember that it is something that I want to do. I should get my mat out and put it somewhere I will trip over it. Then I will trip over it, hurt myself, and still not be able to exercise. :mmph:

Lots of healing thoughts to you and Bailey. Dual diagnoses are so freaking common and unfortunately seem to inherently set these kids up to struggle for a long time. I hope that she can stick with the rehab.process. FWIW- both of my kids (17 and 19, so right in that same range) have all too many friends who have been in the rehab/recovery cycle. But the good thing is that they both know a lot of people who have successfully turned their lives around. Coke, heroin, alcohol, and so on--and they have been able to beat it. One of the kids' best friends since elem school, was in rehab when he was 14, doing really good now, so I hope that she can do the same.

Z- congrats to your foster dog and her forever home!!! That must make you so happy! Is it hard to let them go? I would have such a hard time and want to keep them for myself. It is also why I won't volunteer at the animal shelter. I would end up adopting everyone. :D

Kat- Haddie sounds like she is a trip with those fluffy toys. How are her knees doing? Must be hard for her to not go out with the slippery roads, but gosh, you don't need her slipping. Or you!
She sounds so smart. Jaida is freakin' firecracker smart, and Ray is just so darn mellow, we call her Doofus. Not that she is stupid, but just so laid back that it you tried to give her a challenge like you did, she would look at you -- like Eeyore!- and then walk away. Like really, I cannot be bothered with this. hah!

Better get my day started.

(*whines*-- do I have to??)

xoxoxo!

Morning ladies... MIA here yesterday as I was not on the computer at all yesterday, off to Costco in the morning and it surprisingly was not as expensive as we had thought it would be.
Then we got home made supper and turned on a movie and both fell asleep :becky: what a pair of live wires we are!! Today is another busy day of chores and at 11:30 I am headed out the door again to join my two sisters for lunch. It was supposed to be a luncheon for my oldest brother who is turning 80 tomorrow, but he claims to be to sick to go. :gaah: he is known for doing this lately and has become a bit of hermit over the past year, we think it is dimetia, so we didn't pressure him to go. But darn it, we were all looking forward to seeing him and catching up again. Oh well his loss I guess. At least we tried. So I will not be catching up with personals until tomorrow ladies. Gotta go get ready, have a wonderful Sunday everyone!! Oh BTW here is what Norwex is... I have been using these products for about 20 years now. Gotta do my part to keep the environment chemical free!! http://www.norwex.biz/pws/home2999999/tabs/home.aspx

Sunday afternoon and WTH - no football?! That's going to take a bit of getting used to! LOL Eh, it's okay, the boys are out doing guy things (lunch at Fuddruckers), I've been doing a bit of office work and have The Bourne Identity playing on the tv - love that series of movies.

Chris, IKEA was fun - I could get lost in there for ages!! Found a new couch and chair that we're thinking about. With Haddie not able to get upstairs anymore (at least not without a great deal of assistance), we're looking at getting sofa bed so if we stay downstairs with her, we actually have a place to sleep. Had lunch at IKEA, too, tried their new veggie "meat"balls - quinoa, sweet potato, peas, corn, spinach ... and served over a tomato and black bean sauce. It was good! Yum!!

Trudy, happy birthday to your brother - sorry he couldn't make it. Hopefully you'd have fund with the girls, though.

Yay Laurie on getting through those first couple of weeks AND losing 10 pounds! I'm sure the stress of a new job has made that even more challenging ... you rock!

Good morning, ladies. Just got back from breakfast at IHOP with the kids. I splurged and had french toast and sausages...yum. We had Chinese takeout last night (we went to the casino in the afternoon and I won $400..yay) so grabbed takeout on the way home. We have leftover chow mein and rice for dinner so I'll BBQ some pork chops, with a salad. Easy peasy....dinner is planned. I got in a good workout yesterday at the gym and feel sore and stiff today which is good, it means I worked my body hard enough yesterday. I am going to pop into the gym on Tues or Wed morning at 7:45 am to get in another workout before starting my workday and then do a home routine (Jillian Michaels) on Thursday. Every day I am going to do two minutes of plans and 40 crunches. I need a structured routine or I tend to fall off the wagon and get lazy.

No word from Bailey. No one has heard from her this weekend but hopefully she'll stay on her meds and be ok. Thx Chris for your encouraging words. All we can do is pray that she continues moving forward in her recovery.

Chris - enjoy you walk later and BTW....the stuffies for Taz are still intact! If they are still intact in about couple of weeks, I will order a few more for him and get rid of some of the old ones that are falling apart.

Where was the video on Luther???? I didn't see it.

Trudy - enjoy lunch, that's too bad that your brother isn't going.

Kat - I love going to Ikea too. I love looking thru their kitchen and organizing stuff.

I'm going to scrap a bit, pop over to the library and run a few errands. It'll be a nice relaxing afternoon. Have a good day, ladies.

Where was the video on Luther???? I didn't see it.

I was going to ask the same thing!

Rae, sorry that nobody's heard from Bailey yet. Stan went through his own mental health issues a few years ago, and still battles his inner demons. It's a long road, and one that may never have a "cure," but family support goes a long way. Sending hugs.

while hard to let a foster dog go , i know its for the best especially when you find the perfect person/family to adopt them

got some scrapping challenges done today bu t not as much as i would have liked.

have ikea here too and love walking thru store and getting thier sweedish meatballs.

anyone going to watch grease live tonight- really looking forward to it
