So the Tintle Avenue Chaos got worse yesterday, but not for me. My friend and neighbor across the street, her mom passed away Thursday night. She was the one who had a meeting on Thurs afternoon to place her mom in hospice and then, overnight she passed away.:( It wasn't unexpected except that it was so much faster then they thought. In a way, I guess that is very good. My friend was able to see her mom on Thursday, and her mom isn't struggling to breathe any more.

I am taking her down to the warehouse today to get paper goods for Shivah tomorrow. I have never been at a Shivah and I am not sure of what is expected or what is "protocol." Put me in with Catholic Italians, and I am good to go. This, I am not at all sure. She also had a very contentious relationship with her mom and I know it is going to be hard for her. Not that it is easy for anyone I guess.

My plans this weekend are a bit of housework, a bit of scrapping and helping out my friend in any way I can.

We only got an inch or two of snow thankfully but it looks like the next storm up is Sunday to Monday. I should be thankful that we haven't gotten hit by a big storm (especially since our snow-blower is broken!) but this winters its been a Death from a Thousand Snowflakes!! Gah!! Make it all go away!!!

Who else is planning on living vicariously though Linda S and Terry when they are in Maui???

laurie- I hope you have fun weekend plans! Did you get any snow?

Phyllis- Did you get that 4-6" of snow? And it looks like it is not going to melt any time soon. Ugh! Do you have Reynauds? For some reason, I am thinking that you do. My kids and I have it, as does my mom who has it very severely. But if you have it, you know how painful this cold gets. Wish there was some "disability package" that could pack us up and send us somewhere warm for the winter!!!

I hope that you get your mojo back soon too. It must be out partying with my mojo and Trudy's!
i find that, as the winter goes on, i get crabbier and crabbier!!
This made me laugh!!!! By February, I am a raving b****! Then all of the Jamaica/cruise commercials start airing on TV and that sends me over the edge! A long time ago, before Gary got sick, I booked us a trip to Montego Bay for a long weekend just b/c I couldn't stand it any more!!! I really wish I could do that again.

Nana- Seriously crazy stuff on my street, eh? Gary was all insisting that the poles are shifting :loco:
He needs to stop watching the conspiracy shows on Discovery!!! (They are probably all correct but I don't need to think about it hahaha!!!!)
Good to hear that Mike is feeling better. I hope that you didn't get all that much snow for him to even *think* about shoveling! (men!!!)

Terry-- congrats to your son!!!! :high5:
Hope that the funeral wasn't too difficult. I am guessing she was young? So horrible :(

Trudy- sometimes boring is a very nice way to be. What did you think of Brave? I want to see that too. Not sure if I can bribe my kids to watch with me though.

Nancy-- how cool! DO any of the players show up at the ice cream social? I should dig up my photos from the 80's. The NY Rangers used (still do maybe??) a fundraiser for charity and we went into the city to meet them. I have pics of me with Mark Pavelich, Ron Greschner, James Patrick. I think I might have a couple of them scanned, the rest are in some photo album somewhere.
And "down the shore" It doesn't matter where you live in Jersey, you go down the shore- never up to the shore or across the shore LOL

Jen- Can I just say that the idea of your laundry FREAKS ME OUT!!!!!!! I have just the 4 of us and I have to do a load a day. How many loads a day do you do?? No. Wait. I do NOT want to know!!!

I want summer too (in case y'all miss that the first 100000000 I said that:laugh:)

Have a wonderful day my dears!!!

Morning ladies.... very quiet in here this morning! Well its cold in my house!! The thermostat for the Heat Pump died on us yesterday and we are waiting to have a new installed. MG tried to wire it up himself, but none of the wires match the instructions for the new one, so instead of risking setting the house on fire or something he has decided to get someone who knows what they are doing. (Good choice)!!!!!! So we have the fireplace on and a heather in my computer room going. Good thing its not that cold outside!

Chris - Sad, sad news for your friend and neighbour ! You are a good friend to help her out as much as you can! I really enjoyed Brave, its amazing how they make them look so real! Cute story and of course its Disney, so I loved it!! Anything Disney is ok in my book!! I miss the days when we used to watch Disney on TV every Sunday! It was always a family time that young and old enjoyed so much!! That and Bonanza, well now I'm dating myself LOL.

Nana Linda - Yikes!! you will be in for more cleaning after a weekend with everyone inside LOL. Hope the weather warms up a bit for you and that you make that trip for bathroom supplies!! Gotta have those!!! :becky: Hope your weekend is filled with fun!

Well hubby is off to get the Van serviced this morning, so I don't have to get him breakfast as he will spend the wait for the Van at Tim Hortons and have breakfast there. Not sure what to make for myself, but my tummy is growling so its time to get some food in it! Hope you all have a fun weekend and you get to do something you love today!!

Good morning and it is a beautiful white snow. Chris ignore this next part as I know you are hating this weather. The snow is crystal like and sparkles in the sun. And I love how all the birds leave their footprints in the snow. Last night my DH came home and said there was a herd of deer (6 exactly) and then in the morning all the bird seed was gone so they must have feasted last night. My Devils are now 3-0 when Kovalchuk scored the game winner with 20.5 seconds left in OT. I now know that hockey is back because I am back to hating the refs and their calls. LOL Sitting in the suite was sweet. There was an abundance of sweets - ice cream and all the toppings, cookies and brownies with chocolate chips. Was a lot of fun. Now to scrap and watch more hockey.

Yes I will vicariously enjoy the trips to Hawaii.

Chris that is so sad about your neighbor. I hope all goes well with Shiva.

Nana yes to cold to play in the snow but I bet the kids dont think that way. LOL

Have a great day all!

good afternoon- we did get a couple inches of snow and my drive home last night was when the roads were not bad! Today we have done dance, and are getting ready to go meet a tax adviser (bleck) and then maybe grocery shop, maybe hang in town and go to church, maybe drive back and forth and hope to go to a local dance night, potluck- guess time with the tax man will determine it all! So I will be back tomorrow.

Snow? Would you believe it was about 85 today? This morning was a little chilly and I had to wear a light jacket when we first went golfing. About half way through the jacket came off. It was simply gorgeous weather today.

So we golfed in the morning. Came home and fixed lunch about 1:30. Went grocery shopping-spent $250.00. It amazes me how little you get for $250.

Went back to the golf course about 5PM to detail our golf cart. Did it ever need it. I don't think we have ever put armor all on the thing. The bumpers were almost white! They should be black. It looks good now. Anxious to see it tomorrow after it all soaks in. Guess we shall see the spots we missed!

The funeral yesterday was nice. The sad part- the lady's mother has buried two of her 6 daughters. Just doesn't seem right, does it. The other amazing thing- none of the other 4 daughters were over weight and they are all drop dead gorgeous. I would estimate them to be 45-60 years old.

I'm going to sit down and try to scrap a page. Hunting for the mojo!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! For those in the north-stay warm!

evening- feet are sore- we had so much fun dancing- there was plenty of space and songs we liked- rumba- swing- cha cha & waltz. I bet I will be sore tomorrow- Phylis -sorry to hear about ice, they are predicting rain for us and it will be 49 here Monday and 59 Tuesday- can you say everyone will be sick from the weather change?? Okay I need to hit the bed

Happy Sunday!! The sun is shining but dang, it is still so cold- 11* right now hopefully getting up to about 30* which is going to feel downright balmy! Ice storm coming in tomorrow so I am very happy to not be working Monday or Tuesday. I have to decide if I want to go food shopping tomorrow early or wait til Tues and hope for the best on that.

Thank you all for your kind words about my friend's mom. Her father passed away about 15 years ago and I think right now the hardest thing is that she doesn't have parents any more. That has to be a hard and off-putting emotion.

I am going to do some baking this morning to bring over to her house later, then putter around here a bit and then head over to her house this afternoon. After that, I might end up with a houseful myself. My IL's might be coming up today too. Gary's mom finished Scott's quilt and wants him to get is asap. My FIL wants to spend some time with Gary. And my mom is coming up for Debbie too. I guess we might all be here for dinner, maybe.

I guess that means I should clean the LR up a bit.... but I don't want tooooooo........

hhave a great day everyone!

Good morning ladies....it's 20 degrees out right now..but we are going up to 42 today...but we are hitting 67 by Wednesday :bounce: I am so happy about that!!! More because these kids can go out and play....more than just a few minutes at a time!!!

I scrapped ................ a lot yesterday..... for the upcoming challenges...so not posted yet............. I did post pages that I had made a good while back yesterday. But I definitely have my drive to create back....YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now I just need to take new photos!! My camera is not getting used a lot the last few months!! I do have some Christmas stuff....I need to edit those and scrap them.

Well.............my house is a total disaster again.....but.....I am not stressing........................................too much

Okay off to fix breakfast!!!

Nana-- I hear you on being jealous! LOL But its a Happy-Jealous, right? LOL

Trudy- ugh on the heat pump. Good call to get someone to come in and fix it. Thank goodness for the fireplace!

Nancy! hahaha! My MIL called Friday night and said how pretty the snow was too. All glittery. IMHO- no snow is pretty snow :p

I guess Shiva is the correct way to spell that. Its funny since I have Pagan/Wiccan friends who are polytheistic, and to me, Shiva is the God of death and destruction. I guess that is why I added an H to the end. :noidea: :D

Laurie- just think of the calories and aerobic exercise you accomplish when you are sore today, Sounds like a fun day minus the tax man.

Terryyyyyyy!! Stooooooooop talking about 85*!!! JK!!! I am thrilled that the heat is somewhere and that the entire planet is not freezing cold.
Grocery shopping is nuts- so expensive and such crappy food you get for it.
I cannot imagine burying two children no matter what age they are. :(

Better get cooking (and cleaning, wahhhh!)
xoxo

Good morning ladies. We have been living in an ice box here this past week. It warmed up a little bit Friday and yesterday but this morning we wake to freezing rain. Gah... Sydney has a basketball game this afternoon, but I'm hoping it is canceled because of the weather. Probably not.

She played 3 back-to-back games yesterday. They were only 6 minute quarters but in the first game they only had two substitutes and then three subs for the next two games. So lots of playing time. They went undefeated and won the championship so that made them happy.

Let me go check personals.

Phyllis- I missed your post

-- thank you for the shiva info. I read over it. They are not as orthodox as in the article, for sure. Give her a big old bacon cheeseburger and she is fine with it :) But it us helpful to understand the whats and whys. Thx!
And have a great time with the Grandmen!!!!!! Take lots of pictures and maybe your mojo will come back! *fingers crossed*

Chris, I'm sorry for your friend's loss. I'm sure that you are a great comfort to her.

Phylis, enjoy your trip to DC. How old are your grandsons? Be sure to get home before the ice storm. I dislike snow but I HATE ice!

Trudy, I'm going to go ahead and date myself right along with you. I loved Sunday nights with Disney and Bonanza. The music is playing in my head now. Totally a family Sunday night when I was growing up.

Nancy, glad to hear that your Devils are off to a fast start since the season is so short this year.

Laurie, how bad was the tax man? I dread ours this year. Of course, I dread it every year. :)

Terry...85 degrees...I can only imagine. Sounds splendid...even being able to detail the golf cart sounds fabulous!

Linda, so glad that your mojo has returned! And glad to hear that you are going to pull the camera out again!

For me...I'm counting the days to Maui. We are now under 10 days. If I win the Powerball between now and then, we will do the Daily O's in Maui...all of us...on me.

Linda S- I don't know how bad the tax man is- missing some papers- but you know when they look a the screen and say- umm I don't- want to give you a figure yet, that it is going to be bad. However I came away knowing I had been doing a good job on taxes on my own, and that the reason we owed was cause my husband was claiming 2 not 0 dependents on his taxes- victory for me- still we will owe- next step will be a financial planner as last year was the last year to claim our son.

Today I am feeling the effects of my sinus infection getting worse. Grrrr. My feet are sore too, but that is nothing compared to the pain behind my eyes- oh maybe I should go take something- can't even think straight. I was up early to see the wolf moon! I went for my second cup of coffee and looked out to see over 10 deer in the field over frolicking! Looked like reindeer games to me- I shot through the window, but haven't downloaded to see if any came out!

Morning ladies... Happy Sunday! Well we have heat again!!! Not that it was that cold, but nice to take the chill out of the house! Turns out our thermostat has not been working properly for a long time, making our heat pump work inefficiently, so now all is good except for the dent in our wallets!! Ouch, I gotta get a job that pays that much on weekends!! Nice fellow though and he worked as fast as he could so he wouldn't cost us more than we needed to. Heat pump has never been serviced, so we will have him come back in the spring to service it so that we can be sure to have cool air this summer!

Chris - Sounds like you might have a busy day with all that company today! How nice of you to bake for your friend! She will be lonely without her parents, it takes some time to get used to not having them there to comfort you when you need them, but time is great healer!! The pain never really goes away, but it does lessen a bit with time.

Nana Linda - How wonderful that you got to scrap so much yesterday!! Can't wait to see what beauty you have created!! Don't worry about the housework, its not going anywhere and maybe you can convince your MG to help you out with that :becky:

LindaS - Don't you miss those wonderful Sunday nights, when we were all glued to the TV watching those great shows?? They certainly are fond memories of family togetherness!! We had a huge sectional couch so that all of could fit in front of the TV, (seven kids 2 adults) :becky: I am so happy for you that the final countdown is on for your trip!! Hope you win that power ball so we can all pack our suitcases and join you!!LOL

Laurie - Sorry that you are not feeling great today!! The moon was amazing last night, I didn't get to see too much of it because of the cloud cover though. Tax man will hit us bad this year too, hubby got his retirement pay and we could put most of it into RSP's but not enough room to hide it all so we are not looking forward to seeing how much we will have to pay this year!!!! :pout:

Well I slept in this morning and now feel like I've missed the better part of the day, so I best get some breakfast and get the housework done, then off to the In-laws to deliver wine and help clean up the outside of the house, hoping the :rain: holds off today!! Enjoy the day everyone
