CHEERY O
Yup. We got snow. It started overnight but is coming down like crazy right now. The 6 of us (my 4, plus Brendan and Scott's GF Leah) are all hunkered down.

I have absolutely no plans for today except I would like to try and get a load of laundry done, just in case we lose power later.
It is funny how I go into total storm prep mode, although this time I didn't have to make food. I usually make egg salad and brownies etc that we can eat/snack on but my mom had sent up so much stuff, I think we could eat for a week w/o a problem.

I did get great news from SIL- she was able to get home late Thursday night, and I am not sure who is happiest/most relieved: Her, my brother or my nephew. :)

I hope that everyone on the East Coast is safe and warm, esp you, Kat.
I had to take a quick break to let the dogs outside.
Ray didn't even attempt to go, she took one peek out the door, and sat down shaking. Like I have said before, she is my Georgia Peach and hates snow. (She was rescued from a kill shelter in GA). Jaida had Gary and I laughing our heads off at her. She "prances" and was doing her thing out in the snow. She would prance, bury her nose in the snow, and eat it. Over and over, prance, bury, eat. When we finally got her to come inside her nose was covered with snow almost up to her eyes. hahahaha! Silly dogs!!

Nancy- did you accumulations total go up, like by a lot? I was looking all day yesterday and the two weather-casters that I follow and trust kept saying the storm was tracking north and our totals kept going up. This morning, they are saying that we are in the 14-20" range with locally heavier amounts. My town typically gets those locally heavier amounts.
:hurt:
Like you I am very happy that this is on a weekend and no one needs to be anywhere. Brendan had plans to go visit friends in PA last night and Cait was soooo upset and worried. Thankfully, plans changed at the very last minute and he stayed home. Here Home. Not his Mom's house home, but I guess you all knew that ;)
Anyway- I hope that you and Luther and the fam have a fun time in the snow. I will be mostly watching from the windows.

Kat- woo hoo for working from home in PJs with your pupper at your feet, sounds lie the best way to work :)
That is so funny that you wait until everyone is snowed in to clean while I feel the need to do it all myself beforehand. I think you way is *much* more logical!
I am so excited that you and Rae are going to try out those toys. I normally would rave about a dog toy, nor go out of my way to find a particular brand, but for these, I really will. The cat last about 2 months before it started showing wear and tear and it took them several more weeks to shred it. We might even have more pieces of the "skin" that they will tug on. The frog- it has been almost 48 hours and not a rip or stitch missing. Jaida is a heavy chewer and tugger- you know those powerful pit bulls jaws (JK, being snarky about the misconceptions of pits. She is a mix, but is terrifying when she knocks me down and licks my face to pieces :p)
Let me know what Haddie thinks when you get it.

Sandra- how many snow days does your school get? We get 7 built in but we haven't used one so far. in 2012-13 between Sandy and a bunch of other snowstorms, we went way over and they had to take away vacation time to get the state required days in.
I guess we will have to see what happens tomorrow if they are able to get all of the mountain and lake community roads cleared.
Very smart idea to let Piper figure out how she wants to handle it. She sounds like a smart girl. Did Will go to your ex's? He hates it there, doesn't he?

Trudy- enjoy the nice weather and romantic getaway!!

Rae- any toy with stuffing or those soft fleecy ones-- yup, destroyed in minutes. I love seeing them shove their noses into it and fling to fluff out over their shoulders and then go back for more. Cracks me up! Then we re-stuff the toys and do it all over again. Hope you got all of your work done and have a fantastic weekend!

good morning... I dug out my car! it kept snowing after I went to bed... I had to dig it out though because we're on the last roll of toilet paper LOL... I'm just going to Kroger though since it's less than a mile away... I was hoping we'd at least warm up to above freezing, but doesn't look like that will be the case...

Chris - I don't think they build any snow days in... we've got days scheduled off and we'll actually end up using those as makeup days.. last year we had quite a few so they actually tacked like a 1/2 hour onto our school day when we came back from spring break to make up the school days and we still went to the first week of June... Will is with me although he was supposed to go to his dad's last night... and no he doesn't like going over there, but he got an xbox one over there so he goes anyway.

everybody have a great day! Stay warm!

Good morning! Well it started snowing around 10 pm last night and it is still snowing and probably will until late tonight! We are near 10 inches and will probably get near 15 inches or more. The wind is the pits and makes it almost impossible for me to go outside. Luckily my DH loves it outside. And Luther really loves it out in the snow. He runs and eats the snow and runs some more! I am enjoying just watching it come down. It is really amazing! My son's girlfriend sent a video of her snow amounts in her area a bit south of DC. WOW it is a lot! We took a video of Luther running in the snow and it is pretty cute! We call him the furnace!

Chris it is nice to be able to just hunker down and enjoy! How lucky your mom brought you all food! And so glad your SIL made it in before the storm! I am glad that Luther does not mind the snow to go out. I think he does the run to stomp the snow so he can pee LOL.

Kat your day at home sounds lovely. I thought about cleaning today but I lost the need when I got up and saw all that pretty snow! Hope your cleaning goes well.

Sandra too funny about the toilet paper because that was one of the things I got when out grocery shopping yesterday. Hopefully your daughter will continue playing. Sorry she did not make the band but I am proud she tried.

Rae so far our Luther loves his squeaky toy but has not pulled out stuffing but he had a really nice bed that he tore a hole in and he pulled all the stuffing out of it. It was a nice bed too! Guess you never know what they like to chew!

Have a great day!

Good morning, ladies. Slept in a bit, sipped coffee and read my book (gettting near the ned of the first book in the Penn Cage series and am enjoying it). Will pop over to the library later and pick up book #2 (unfortunately a paperback as they don't have the digital version). The rain has stopped for a bit and I know it's supposed to start up again this afternoon so I'm heading out shortly to take Taz out for a walk, then over to the pet store for supples which is one of his favorite things to do. Spending the day at home doing chores, hanging out with hubs (who is watching the early morning hockey game right now) and catching up on some tv shows on the pvr. I'll fit in a bit of scrapping later too.

Everyone with snow....stay warm, dry and hope the power stays on. If you have to shovel snow, be careful, it's so easy to injure yourself doing that kind of stuff.

Gotta go....need to head out for our walk before the rain starts up again. Have a great day everyone!

I don't post here often but concerned about all of you in the path of bad weather. Hope you can stay home and stay warm. Praying for your safety.

After three hours of cleaning (really, my house isnt' THAT dirty, I promise! LOL) and moving furniture, I'm finally sitting down. I racked up nearly 2300 steps on the FitBit during that time, so that was good. I'm shooting for 4,000 today, since i'm stuck indoors. We have an eat-in kitchen, but I usually take that over with my computer area ... well, that's what it is back to, again. The living room is really long, so we've put the dining table at one end, just off the kitchen. The boys grumble about helping me move stuff, but when they realize they can eat at the table AND still watch tv, well, the grumbling tends to stop. ;)

We've got a good 20 inches of snow out there, and it's still falling. I don't see the 2 inches/hour rate that they were originally predicting, but the winds are certainly starting to pick up - about 20-25 mph at the moment. Stan and Bill have been busy shoveling every once in a while. We had to make a path in the backyard for haddie as the snow is over her head, especially with the drifts. She's a lot like Jaida - runs around, tail straight up, sniffing and burying her nose - then licking all the snow off. I wonder if the snow heightens all the smells in the yard or something? LOL

this stuff is going to take AGES to melt away, so I'm sure the backyard is going to be complete mush for weeks. Yuk. A muddy mess. Oh well, we have heat, power, and food. We're good for a while if we can't get out for another couple of days.

well, I made it out to get toilet paper with no issues... the roads where I am are fairly clear... the kids are all home and this is one happy mama... everyone please stay safe... I know the eastern seaboard is getting hit with a lot more snow than we got in Lexington.

We made it throuuugh the raaain, er, I mean snow... :sing:

I have no idea how much we got, the local news said that as of 7pm it was over 21" and it was still coming down, We all took turns clearing the cars and driveway (and the pee spot for the dogs, I cannot imagine having to put my hiney into a foot of snow so I can pee. Good thing I am not a dog LOL), and as soon as we were done, it was all covered again. The only good thing about it is that is not that heavy wet snow.

On the other hand, I was sitting at my table right before dinner when I saw blue police lights stop across the street. Dammit! My BFFATS's DH-- her husband is the one that had 2 heart attacks in the past year and a half- was out with the snow blower earlier. Gary and had said earlier in the week, that he'd better not be out there, since the last 2 times he came out of the hospital he was mowing the lawn a week later. We would have helped, but he is the kind of guy that feels like he can do it all himself, and BFF and the kids were out there too, so Gary and I didn't offer.
Saw the lights and texted BFF to let me know what I could do to help. Right before I went to bed, I checked in with her again, and he was in ICU with Stent #3. :(
This guy is 50-- Young!! Please send good thoughts to them.

I feel terrible for not offering to help, but honestly, I shouldn't even have been out there- I brushed off the cars and tried to push the snow, using only my right hand. But shoveling is not recommended with a PICC. Gary was in so much pain after snow-blowing that he doesn't know if he can get back out today. The kids are just going to have to do it, whether they like it or not.

We were also watching the news about the flooding down the shore. It was surreal to see chunks of ice and snow in the water that was covering the roads and boardwalks. I guess it is one thing to see flooding down the shore from a hurricane, but the ice floes, with the surf behind them... Really odd.

Today is kind of up in the air I guess. I will check in with BFFATS at some point soon to see how she is getting home. She rode down in the ambulance and while I knew her DD has a car, I don't know how the roads are and if she will be ok with picking her mom up. I'll offer to drive her if she needs. It feels like it should be a soup simmering on the stove kind of day but I don't thing I have anything in the house to make soup. Maybe I will make some bread in the bread machine- seems like that would be a good comfort type thing.

So that is here from me- the sun is shining and it won't be as cold today as yesterday.
As always, remember that life is short and hug the ones you love.
Sending BIG hugs to all of you too. ::grouphug

Hi Sandra! Was your Kroeger mission successful? Hope that there was TP left to buy. We saw on the news how there were stores with totally empty shelves of bread, milk. I think that after Sandy, we get very concerned about not being able to get food or gas. That was really brutal.
Hope that you and Will had a nice day together.

Nancy- how much did you get, I bet it was way over 15"-- Luther sounds like Jaida with the digging into the snow to fling it up to eat it. How is Rex doing with the snow? Hope that Ashley (right?? Ashley? Can't remember but I know it begins with A) didn't get too clobbered by it.

Rae- you days sounds so relaxing and cozy! Hope that you got everything done that you needed to.

Hi Marnie and welcome to the Ooo! Thank you for checking in with us. I know that NJ had some power outages but not extensive. I hope that PA/DC/VA made out ok too.

Kat- whew! Good to see you were doing ok when you popped in yesterday and I hope it stayed that way for you the rest of the day.
That is too funny about your guys- not minding moving the furniture so they can watch tv- guess with all of the football games coming up, that will be important :)

Woo hoo for TP!! :p Glad that you and the kids are all together, that would make me a happy mama too!

xoxo

Chris, so sorry to hear about your neighbor! We're taking turns with shoveling, now that everything has stopped and the sun is shining, but even so, it's no more than 30-minute "shifts" for each of us and then it's back inside to drink water and refuel. We got at least 24" of snow here and - for now - it's still fluffy stuff ... but we know as the sun gets to warming things up, it will begin to melt and get heavy.

Good morning, ladies. Just popping in to say hi quickly. I'm heading out with my hubs in a minute to go shopping at the mall for a bit and then grab some lunch.

Kat - glad the sun is out and the snow is finished.
Chris - scary about your BFF's husband. Hope he is ok.

Gotta go, have a great day everyone!
