happy weekend to all! I was able to sleep in a bit. I woke up squished between two dogs and then stayed that way (happily!) while listening to a news podcast about the US Govt shutdown. It was an um- "interesting" way to start my day. I guess that the balance between the stress of our Govt being stupid again and the stress-reduction of puppy snuggles worked itself out.

Yesterday was semi-successful in that we were all able to get Heather to eat a tiny bit of food and water. She is so darn weak that it breaks my heart to see her struggling to stand. Later on, I when I went to my neighbor's house to clean, I was able to upload a photo of his missing kitty onto the local lost pet Facebook page for him since he didn;t know how to do that. I brought him some banana bread too. It isn't enough but it is all I can do to help. Cait and Brendan went for a hike out back and they think that they see where he might be hiding out. They found some paw prints to and from a fallen over tree that might be sort of shelter for him. I will have Cait show me later on today so I can keep looking and show our other neighbor who has been looking for him as well.

Other than taking care of Kib and cleaning my kitchen- I made a yummy dinner but left lots of pots and pans in the sink so chalk that up as one more reason that I hate to cook LOL- I am going to spend the day trying to relax. I know, I suck at that! I would like to finish a scrap page that I started a few days ago. I prefer finishing a LO in one sitting or I forget what I was trying to do. Lately, it is taking me days to finish one. I was cleaning out my 2017 pages and I found a page that I had started for a challenge and never finished. I felt terrible that I had "purchased" products from Joanne Brisebois and never uploaded the pages. She is a total sweetheart, BTW. I PM'd her to apologize and she told me not to worry about it. But I am using those items on the page that I am working on right now so that eases my mind.

I am sure that I will be watching some of the coverage of the Women's Marches. I really wanted to go. There is one about an hour from me, not far from my mom's. I could have taken the train from her house into the town and then walked a bit to meet up with the group. But after the last couple of weeks/months, I can't imagine walking up and down the stairs in my house, let alone at a March. I "dressed" up my FB photo to show my support. Maybe next year I can be there in person.

Love and hugs and happy weekend!

Amanda- Did you house feel really peaceful with the kids at school? I don't miss those days of the "I'm bored" and then the endless bickering and refereeing. Nope, not at all. LOL
Crazy that KY has more snow days so far this school year than we have had in the mountains of NJ. Weird weather.

Nancy- yay for the Devils win! I make a chicken dish similar to that with maple syrup (I cheat and use cheap pancake syrup but I add a bit of molasses to cut the fake sweet flavor) and dijon mustard. It is one of Scott's favorites. I am going to try a bit of sherry in there next time I make it. Thanks for the idea!
Hah!! I don't have a clean gene- I used to, now I am way too lazy. But I can't read when I am worrying, not enough concentration. I end up turning pages and then realizing that I haven't absorbed a single word.
Murphy seems to be very strong for the environment and I imagine that he will be 100% offshore drilling. How could he be for it? So ridiculous esp since so much of our tourism is from the Shore. Heck, even Christie struggled with some of the Shore towns to get the dunes built up after Sandy, can you imagine what they would say about an oil rig?

Trudy- I wish you could take Nancy to the Hockeyville too- how fun that would be!! Hope that you and your Gary have a great time. Were you able to get ay scrapping done? Not me, I only spent my limited time staring at the page and doing nothing about it. It needs something "more" but I can't figure out what. YKWIM?

Jean- we will be over freezing today here too! Good luck at your group meeting today, I know that you will have fun and learn a lot.

Rae- hope that you had gotten everything down that you needed to and are over the border with no problems. Have a great time tonight!

Felis- Happy birthday to your mom- that is nice to hear that you had a nice breakfast together even if your aunt made it stressful.
I don't know if this lost cat of my friends is a climber. He has all of his claws so I imagine that he could if he had too. I was looking up in the trees but didn't see any signs. I hope that he finds his way back soon.

I need to get this kitchen tidied now before the kids come down and want to make themselves breakfast

xoxo!!!

Good late morning - been busy me and my boys had Luther out learning how to play fetch. He did a great job. He loves to run and we found a great field. He had such a good time. And now he is one tired doggie. There was a field close by that was full of geese but we did not let Luther scare them - actually we were scared he might catch one and then what would we do? My DH said eat it. Not me. Last night my boys said it was one of the best blue apron meals. It was again a pork roast with roasted broccoli, apples with apple vinegar and cheese sauce. OMgosh it was all so good. There is just something so good about pork and apples and then a cheese sauce. Hockey was good last night as the Canadiens defeated the Caps so that is great for my Devils as they can get closer with a win today in Philly! Also the Ducks defeated the Kings and my former Devil Adam Henrique scored so that is good. I am now following the Ducks because of him LOL. My son and I are in discussions about the government shutdown and the women's rights marches. There really is a difference between men and women and I try but sometimes I just cannot get across to them how women feel and what constitutes being hassled and how men don't take the subtle cues women are putting out. I keep trying.

Chris so glad that things are going better for your kitty. And yes having puppies does help stress. I know about dirty dishes and it really does not help if you have to clean them before you can cook. That is so sweet how you are helping your neighbor find his cat.

Trudy luckily we in the US can watch Hockey Day in Canada. I love seeing all the places in Canada. Today it sounds like they are starting in Newfoundland. I was watching the noon talk show Hockey Central and they talked about being Screeched in Newfoundland but never really said what is was so I looked it up. It is pretty cool. Drink and kiss a cod fish. My son and I watched it on youtube and my son could barely understand the accent. I won't be able to watch too much as the Devils play at 1pm. We in the US are now having a hockey day and we are doing Kraft Hockeyville. You all have led the way. Have fun!

Rae have fun at game night. Hope the crossing go well! And I know everyone is going to love your dishes.

Felis enjoy you mom's birthday celebrations.

Jean yea we are above freezing - it is 51 right now! have a great meeting!

Hi Amanda and I have to day I do not miss the snow days with kids home from school. Seems strange I don't think of Kentucky as getting too much snow. Hope it melts soon and the kids are back at school soon.

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... Fresh snow on the far mountain tops this morning, it is so pretty when the sun is shining on the white snow! Our son and his family will be up sking in the fresh powder on Mt. Washington this weekend, they will be in heaven! Yesterday poor little Mason had to visit the dentist and he has a very bad tooth that needs to be removed, so now they have to take him to an oral surgeon in the city. Ugh, he does not do well with things like this and has a fit if anyone tries to even cut his hair or look in his mouth. It will be a stressful appt!! Poor Heather! For now Mason is on meds for his tooth, but he has never once complained that his mouth hurts or anything, they just noticed that the tooth looked pretty bad when he was brushing his teeth a while back. Yesterday was pretty uneventful and I got some scrapping done for upcoming challenges, but other than that I was working on my recipe book etc.

Chris - Ya I totally know what you mean when you think a page needs something more, but you have no idea what!! I have many days like that LOL. It is so frustrating when scrapping used to come so easily for me and I could knock off a few pages in an hour or so. Now it takes me days! I had to giggle at the thought of little you squished between the two dogs! They must love you so much! Hope that you and rest of the neighbours are able to locate the missing cat! I bet he just shows up at his owners door or window and acts like nothing ever happened to him. Yes the worst part of cooking is the clean-up, my DH is usually really good for doing the dishes after I cook for him, but he often just leaves the really dirty pots to soak in the sink, when really all they need is a wipe and then they could go in the dishwasher with the rest. MEN!! But I don't complain to him because at least he does do the clean up. I hope you actually do get some rest today, but for some reason I doubt that you will :becky:

Nancy - Nice that you all were out with Luther today. I'm with you and would never eat a goose, YUCK! Another amazing meal for all of you again, I used to always serve my pork with applesauce, but now that I am on Keto it is off the menu. My last pork roast that I purchased at the store was one that was covered in bacon and Rosemary. It was disappointing to say the least! It came with a pop up thermometer and I should have guessed that it would end up being dry and the flavour was not good. I was so upset, because after hearing about your last pork meal my mouth was watering for a nice juicy, moist pork roast. :hungry: From now on I will stick to preparing my own! Yes sometimes the goofy newfies are a bit hard to understand. We have some very good friends from Newfoundland and they think that we have a thick accent LOL. Makes me think that it would be a great trip to get out to Newfoundland and get in a visit with them again, it has been many years since we have seen them. Hope you have a great Hockey day today, I think that most of the activities for our Kraft Hockeyville are tomorrow, so we will be there most of the day tomorrow.

:hello: to everyone else, its time to get busy and help DH load the old washer and dryer into the back of the truck to take to the recycle place. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Good morning my dears,
the good news is that we have a snow, less than 2 inch, but enough to play. The bad news is that I left the cleaning of the cat house for today, so this will take too much of my time. I hope still to have a snow when I'll be finally ready! So better to go for a weekend fun!

Chris, all cats are climber, but in this cold will search for stash. I'm so agree with Trudy, that soon cat will shows up and acts like nothing ever happened. So good that Heather eat, even if she is still weak, when you cut your finger it's take week to recover, and inside hurts are even slower, but till she still fights you are on a right way. I understand you for the scraping. In some months I don't have any inspiration. Joanne is one of my favorite too. I'm wondering what happen with my other favorites SoMa Design, they don't finished their November challenge and no have new challenges and even no release new kit, so strange?!

Trudy, so you are received already the new washer and dryer or just made a space?! I bet that Heather will suffering more than Mason, that is to be mother. Hope the doctor to have a good approach with children and to not stress him unnecessary!

Nancy, such a good play you are had with Luther! Ouch, I just realised that in the Christmas song that I scrap, they probably are mean to eat the geese, ugh, It wasn't come in my mind. I'm so glad that you not left Luther to catch them! But your son is right, britains have a recipes for them.

Rae and Jean :tea: !

Have a lovely day you all!

Yes, it is after 9 am and I am just posting in here. I was able to sleep until after 7 am and when the dogs started to whine to go out, Gary told me to stay in bed and he took them outside. When they came back in, they all jumped on the bed (dogs, not Gary haha!!) and I got to spend the next half hour snuggling with them.
Sweet!!!

I am officially adding to my list of things that I cannot say or I will jinx myself:
~ I am going to do nothing today
~ If I don't get the day to relax, I will lose my s***
~ I am at the end of my rope (previously added to this list)

After I posted in here, I went up to feed Heather and she was worse than ever. She was a rag doll, barely able to walk and I had to hold her up so she could use the littler box. I called the vet since they had said she could get another B-12 injection to boost her appetite some more but I wasn't sure when they could do that. At first, the Tech, Karen-- she is one of them that takes care of the rats and she is a sweetheart- called back to say to keep trying to get as much food-- any food into her in any way possible and that the B-12 can only be done once a week. But this is how awesome they are over there-- She called back about 10 minutes later. She had talked to the Vet some more and they said that she could get some sub-cutaneous fluids so she wouldn't get dehydrated. I ran her over there and she got the fluids. Karen then gave her a syringe of food too. She listened to all of my questions and ramblings and I just want to hug them all. I have to call tomorrow to give an update and go from there.

Right before I left, my IL's called to say that they were coming up for a bit. They got here before I got home from the vet and were here for a few hours. I could barely keep my eyes open and I felt rude as heck for not being polite but they know me and I know that they weren't offended.

In between all of that, I was upstairs feeding Kibs a tiny bit of food every hour. As soon as I post this, I am going to warm up some more food and feed her some more. And here I thought I was well past taking care of babies :p

Other than taking care of Kibs, I am going to work non-stop, from dusting, to cleaning, to laundry. (Not really, but see my list of things I won't say above :gossip:)

Have a super day!!

I was bummed that I didn't get to watch any of the news about the Women's Marches but I saw some pictures this morning. Women really need to rule the world haha!!

Nancy- what a fun time you must have had with Luther. How great that he learned to fetch and not a goose.
OMG-- how will you keep up with all of the Devils games and now the Ducks. hehe!! I know that you will do it.
Scott asked me yesterday what the women were marching for. He understood that last year it was against DT. I explained that it is about being under-represented in gov't how a group of old rich, white men write the rules over our bodies, how women are marginalized, financially, and intellectually. #metoo and #TimesUp. He was raised by an outspoken, very opinionated mother and he still doesn't get it totally. Just as I don't get how it must feel to be a black man pulled over by the cops. But in my not so humble opinion *grins* we have to keep speaking and listening and learning. So rock on Nancy!!! :high5:

Trudy- bet that your kids had a great time skiing. Thankfully for the mountain resorts near me, it has been cold enough for the snow machines to make snow but I bet real snow is much better. (If you like that kind of thing *wink*)
Poor Mason, will they sedate him for the exams and surgery? I hope that it is much easier than you expect. It has to be. :)
Thanks for understanding my scrap frustrations. Makes me crazy!

No sight of the actual lost cat but Caitlyn and Brendan went back to where they saw the paw prints and they saw semi-fresh cat poop so these are all good signs. Maybe once the snow is completely melted he will be able to pick up a scent trail back to his home.

Felis- hope that the cat house cleaning goes quickly and that you had time to play in the snow, you deserve some fun :)

And now I am off to feed Heather. Whys is that food so darn stinky? And I end up with drips of it all over me and I can't get the smell off. Blech!

The women's marches are awesome. Our new governor and his first lady took part in one in Morristown. She spoke about how she was assaulted while in college. I love this women's movement. My Devils lost 3-1 and lost our backup goalie to injury and one of our energy players. But my emergency goalie from the AHL came in and was stellar. He did not give up a goal the rest of the game. I hope my guys are not too badly injured. Just got back from taking Luther out for another walk. It was gorgeous. Cool 49 degrees - seems like a heat wave. Going to a Devils autograph signing, Miles Wood. Should be fun as you can actually talk to them and take a photo. Then watching hockey. I did cook another great meal Tuscan chicken with a pasta salad. No left overs. Love that.

Chris again I am so sorry about Kibs. Take a rest for today!

Trudy how fun to look up and realize they are skiing in the fresh new snow and you have none. Poor Mason. I hope they figure out an easy way for him to lose that tooth. Sorry it is so scary for him.

Felis congrats on the snow. Hope the cleaning goes fast and you have time to play!

Have a great day all! And sending more hugs Chris.

GOD permits industrious angels
Afternoons to play.
I met one,—forgot my school-mates,
All, for him, straightway.

God calls home the angels promptly
At the setting sun;
I missed mine. How dreary marbles,
After playing Crown!

Ah, Chris, I'm so sorry! Hugs to all the family.

I never made it here yesterday after the meeting and today we started out with birding. That was nice as it was in the 40s though cloudy. We saw ice fishermen but found areas with some open water. Absolutely the best though was seeing a Snowy Owl. Now watching football. Later we're having a pork roast too. The power of suggestion!

Hope the rest of you have had a better day than Chris. Hugs all!
