Daily Ooos: January 11-12: Weekend Edition

The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Good morning, Lovelies! Are you ready for the weekend? I am! Not for any exciting reasons other than the wind *finally* stopped. The constant howling was making me  Instead, I woke up this morning, opened the door to let the dogs outside and the only thing I heard was... falling snow.
Noooo!!!
It's all good. The Feels Like temps are in the 20s and it will only be a couple of inches of snow on the ground. I can handle that.
At least it's quiet.

How was yesterday, did everyone have an enjoyable Friday?
Mine was relatively productive. I puttered. Vacuumed. Made and sent out the invites for the pirate party. Scrapped a page to welcome NiniGoesDigi. Worked on a puzzle. Did some more cleaning. Finally scooped the front lawn for the first time in a week (sorry neighbors but it was too darn cold!) Yup, I kind of ping-ponged my way around the house.
Today is going to be the same sort of day except I have to wash and blowdry my hair. I miss summer when I could let it air-dry. Warm weather will be here soon enough, right? :praying2:

Have a fantastic day!

@LaurieW It's always so much nicer to work with and for people who are appreciative. I'm glad that the homeowner is thankful.
It's always welcoming to come back home and have dinner waiting in the crockpot.

We have rescheduled the gathering for the weekend of the 31st. Only thing is that my youngest will not be able to be with us now.
I am glad it is rescheduled but I'm sorry that your youngest can't be there :rollingpin1: Is it possible they can get their hours covered by someone?
Be safe in the snow!

@taxed4ever I hope that you and your sister shared joy and tears and support. The photo and sticker sounds like the perfect gift :brokenheart:
Your brother and Veronica were in the process of moving when this happened?? I can not imagine any of it. :(
I am looking forward to seeing all of your wedding photos!! I sure hope your creative juices get flowing again soon! Try to keep warm and hopefully your temps will rise! Thank you for your kind words! I know that my O family is here if I need them! I can feel your hugs all the way over here on the West Coast!! :lovey3:
I looked at wedding photos but still can't get any pages started. We love you so much and will keep sending hugs your way.

I try to remind my self its taking care of me not lazy.
I'll do my best to remind you of that as you have been reminding me! ♥

@BrightEyes Fantastic news that the snow stopped and the roads are clear. No issues running your errands aside from the temps?

@bcgal00 A bead and gem show must have been exciting and *tempting.* What did you buy?

@Cherylndesigns Ava is the best, glad that she is making sure that you eat. And if Cokes are what you are craving and can drink, do it! :D
Lots of feel-better vibes heading to everyone on the compound!

@BoatLady The glass doors will be great to have -- hopefully "just in case" of a hurricane, but the way weather patterns are running, you've got a good chance of getting hit :/
Sorry to hear about the mess it created but your house must smell so good!
Busybody Faery is butting in that I hope you are resting your shoulder and not cleaning so much it hurts worse.

Whew! I finished re-downloading my store through 2022.....only 2 more years to go! YUCK!
Yippppeeee!
(and then)
Booooooooo!

No wind here, either. 2-3" of snow. The sun is out, so it will melt enough to make an icy mess overnight since the temps are so cold!

I guess not. I think he is the lead in his department. I think they punish him because he is as high as he can go.....but refuses to take a management position! I don't blame him, but it isn't right. But I don't know the whole story.

Good morning!
29 degrees out. We got 2-3" of snow yesterday. It was still coming down last night when I went to bed at midnight. If it had been powdery I think we would have twice as much. But it was pretty wet and packing. I live on a main road and they had 4.....yes, I said 4.....plows following one another down the road ! But it seems to have done the trick! The side roads are a mess, however! It's gonna be bad tomorrow morning going to church after thawing and then refreezing tonight!

No plans today but to stay in and stay warm. I got finished redownloading through 2022.....only 2 more years to go! YIKES! I do want to move some pictures from the camera to the new SSD HD today. I need some pictures to work with in my scrapping!

Have a great weekend!

Good MOrning all - it is still softly snowing out. We got about 2-3 additional inches. I am fine with that. We are not going anywhere major today. I am going to put Christmas away. Husband does want to go to the flower shop and buy a really cool light up design. If we go I will have to take some photos as I cannot describe it. He is out blowing the snow from neighborhood drives and sidewalks- with his leaf blower! I am on day 26 of 10,000 steps in a row. I chose walking last night over scrapping so I could keep my streak going. Have great weekends everyone.

Good morning ladies. I am off to the legion this afternoon for the meat draws and the Chase the Ace 50/50 ticket with the grand prize of over $3000. There will be a lot of us there, we'll play our Farkle dice game. I decided not to go to the bead/gem event last night. I checked online and didn't see anything that really caught my eye so I decided to spend my money on a few more wool coats (from marketplace). They are new, still with tags on them. I've really lucked out this week with shopping. I watched the Mary Berg show this morning at 5, I was planning on falling back asleep to it as it doesn't normally hold my interest but this morning they had one of my favorite chefs on for the whole hour, Jamie Oliver, so I stayed up and watched. I think I'll get his new cookbook. He made two recipes out of the book, a no-cook red pepper pasta sauce and baked parmesan crusted broccoli.

I need more coffee and will go check out CT stuff. HAGD everyone.

Morning everyone. I did the tossing and turning - waking up every 2 hours or so... then fell hard asleep around 4AM and slept in until 7:30AM. Sure hope that stops soon!!! No wonder I am feeling tired and not up to doing much. Think this is going to be a PJ Day....

I did make it to the grocery store around noon yesterday and stopped at the neighborhood mailboxes to get my mail (from the whole week). Yikes... had a bill that is due on Monday... and it going to Denver!!! They have had lots of snow and the highway between here and there has been closed off and on all week. More snow there this weekend, too. Managed to get it to the local PO before the last pickup of the day. Yes, it was and still is cold here so was bundled up when I was out. But no more snow here in the valley so roads were clear.

@LaurieW WOW!!! That is a lot of steps everyday... congrats on keeping the streak going!! Had to LOL over his using the leaf blower to clear the snow!

@faerywings Good luck on getting some of those wedding photos scrapped. Can't wait to see them. You got a lot done yesterday. I hear you about how the wind howling for hours/days at a time can make you feel crazy. Glad it has finally stopped in your area.

@vickyday So glad you are making progress in recovering the kits. And, yes... it is a good idea to get some of those photos onto the SS HD, too.

Hope every one has a good day.

Good Morning!

Are you ready for the weekend?
YES! But it will be the same as yesterday and Thursday other than everyone is home from work. I love not rushing to finish my coffee and get showered and out the door.
I am on day 26 of 10,000 steps in a row
Good job!!! That is awesome! I bet it feels amazing too to keep the steps going. I do that with my kindle, make sure I read before a certain time so it counts as I'm on a 319 day streak of reading every day. I'll worry less when I hit a full year.

I have a bit of envy reading all the snow posts. We've had rain and rain and rain. I can see more of the ground than snow and its icky. Plus the water pooling and freezing is not good for the grass. Haven't been able to get out and enjoy the winter and that's making it longer than normal. Plus its dark. There is no snow for the lights to reflect off and that makes it feel even darker than normal.

Stay safe and warm! Have a wonderful day.

Hi everyone! It's been a hard week. Went back to work after the flu. Most nights I came home and was in bed by 7:30. The doctor said I would be coughing for several weeks, but I can do things as I feel up to it. My energy is pretty low, and this cough is awful. So I am taking it easy.

@Cherylndesigns sounds like you have Norovirus? I hope you take it easy, rest!!! and let everyone take care of you. That's nothing to mess around with! Praying for you to get better soon!

We got some snow last evening, maybe an inch, followed by rain, icy mix, and this morning ice everywhere. We're staying in today, not chancing anything on the roads. This morning the sun was shining, and the ice all over the trees is starting to melt. It's beautiful, but so dangerous! We didn't loose power or anything.

Belle is still getting settled, finished her paperwork at the new job and now waiting for all the required testing to come back. Then she'll get her start date. Somewhere in there California will complete her background check, which now may take forever since they are working on more important things.

Mark's sister was evacuated from her home in LA, my cousins are safe for the time being. We're praying for that horror to come to an end so those communities can process and find some healing. Somewhere. How do you even start with something like that? I can't imagine the devastation.

Hello my O friends... I am late getting in here today, DH and I have been busy running around, getting some groceries and other things. Had to buy a new set of hair clippers today as FIL and DH both need to have their hair cut. The current hair clippers are done and not working anymore. So I will be the hair dresser for them tomorrow LOL. I started cutting my Gary's hair during Covid and he has never wanted to go back to the barber since. I am not the good at believe me, not sure if they are just to lazy to go to the barber or too cheap :giggle4:. I had a great visit with my sister and we laughed and cried and had lots of good memories of our Brother Tom. She loved the photo and frame I gave to her and now I have to make something up for myself as I don't have any framed photos of him in the house right now. I have been on the phone with West Jet while posting this, trying to get a refund for the upgrade I did for our seats back home. The firs leg of our trip was delayed for over two hours, because there was no ground crew to fill the plane with our luggage grrrr!! Two hours on the tarmac is not my idea of a good time! Anyway we missed our connecting flight and got rescheduled on another later flight, but of course we could not get the seat upgrade. To my surprise they were very apologetic and quickly gave us back our money Hooray!! Finally something went right for a change!! My DH is feeling better and must have the same cold/flu as you @mimes1 as he has been coughing for over a week. He seems to be doing a lot better today!
@faerywings - My brother and his wife have been on a long vacation, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and have been to Portugal, Central Spain and then went to Shri-Lanka as their final stop before going to Australia for a few weeks, before heading back to Canada. Sadly Shri-Lanka is where he drowned :sad2:. Veronica is now with her kids in Australia and they are keeping her very busy, my brothers ashes are with her and we are comforted to know that she is surrounded by her children and grandchildren! She will return here to the Island sometime in February with her daughter and she will stay with her Mom for as long as she is needed. They hope to have some kind of service for my brother sometime in July. They had pretty much given up the idea of moving to Australia as the process was just taking too long, so that is why they decided to do this big trip, sadly it was to be the last trip for the two of them.

@AK_Tracy - We are having a very mild winter here too, a bit of snow on the mountains, but for the most part above seasonal temperatures for this time of year.

@BrightEyes - Sure hope the tossing and turning stops for you tonight!! No wonder you are feeling tired and have no energy! Yikes on the mail being so delayed! Hope you don't get penalized for a late payment!

@bcgal00 - You are leading a very busy life these days!! How wonderful that your new home is keeping you and D so busy! Sounds like you are scoring big time with the new coats!! Oh and I just love Jamie Oliver, he is my all time favourite chef!!

@LaurieW - Too funny that your DH is using his leaf blower for the snow, we used to do that all the time in Saskatchewan when we lived there many years ago, but the snow is far to heavy and wet here.

@Cherylndesigns - Hope you are on the mend my friend! Norovirus is nothing to shake your head at!! Take care of you!!

Ok its wine o'clock and time to get supper ready soon. Have a great night everyone! Cheers!!:wine4:

I'd never thought I would say this, but it is 29*, sunny, and no wind. Perfect weather for a hike!
(she says this with tongue firmly in cheek)
It is perfect-er than it had been, that is for sure. And it isn't really a hike per se, more of a walk through the woods but no matter. I'm looking forward to getting out. My coworker is leading a hike about moss and lichen and I know I'll pick up more information and ways to ID different moss and lichen. She is the woman who worked with me the day we made moss terrariums in the HS group. I scheduled it that way when I knew she was going to be with me that week, she *loves* moss. And I adore working with people who love things like moss.

I finally got some scrapping done-- Week 2 for the AJ challenge, and yes!!!! Finally-- I scrapped a page with one of Cait and Tom's wedding portraits. I can't show it to you, it is for a pre-release.
I don't think I did much else, washing and drying my hair took up 99% of my day.:giggle4:

Hugs to you!

So that's weird-- I wanted to edit my post and I can't. I can edit the first post in this thread but not that one. I am going to post this and see if I can edit it. Ignore any wonkiness.
:ignore1:

Well here I am, editing this post but the last one-- I click the Edit button and -- nothing happens.
I reread what I typed and used "moss" about 20000 times in one paragraph and every English teacher I had is yelling in my ear to stop reusing the same word over and over and over. They also tell me to use punctuation and not so many run-on sentences but I can ignore them on that as well.
What can I say? I type the same exact way as I talk.

@vickyday I hope that the snow stopped and the roads are clear today. Be careful when you head to church.
How are you doing with re-downloading everything?

@LaurieW hahah!! Your DH is smart to use the leaf blower as long as the snow is dry and fluffy! I am intrigued by the "cool light up design" and can't wait to see the photo of it. Good luck at the house today.

@bcgal00 Any chance you were the big winner of Chase the Ace?? *fingers crossed for you*
Both of those Jamie Oliver recipes sound delish! LMK if you make them and like them.

@BrightEyes I hope that you slept better last night with no tossing and turning. Can you pay that bill online so it is done before the due date?

@AK_Tracy It has to be strange to see the ground this time of year. How much snow pack would you normally have in January?
I never thought about the snow reflecting the light either. It must feel very odd.

@mimes1 I hope that you are taking the weekend to catch up on your rest, sounds like the flu is no joke this year. Yuck about the awful weather, the icy mix is worse than snow IMHO.
All of my good thoughts to your family in the LA area. It's devastating to read about the fires and how entire neighborhoods are burned to the ground. :brokenheart:

@taxed4ever Wrapping you and your sister in big hugs- I am glad that you had a "good" visit with her and laughed and cried together. How utterly awful about the trip and the move and the feeling that had one thing gone differently... Anyway- the woulda, shoulda, coulda's will never really go away but it's heartening to know that he is loved and always will be in your hearts.
You totally deserve a wine o'clock!

I need to check out his cookbook. I need some inspiration for new things to cook!
Sounds like you hit the jackpot on coats this week! You need to model them for us. Are they full length or car length?

Ha! I have always been the barber! Mark's is easier than Tim's was because I just shave his. Although I do have to trim Mark's beard. Tim didn't have a beard, just a mustache and he took care of that himself.
My youngest son asked me once to give him a burr haircut, so I did. When he looked at himself in the mirror he began to cry. Come to find out he really meant he wanted a bowl cut. Ha! I told him he wouldn't have gotten a bowl cut. I despised those. He didn't think so, but he did look cute with his buzz! I think it scarred him for life because now he looks like Jason Momoa!

I didn't do anymore redownloads yesterday. Worked on pictures. Had to redo that, too. I forgot that to use a thumb drive for both a Mac and a PC you have to do an ExFat format. OY VEY!

Good morning,
21 this morning. Sun is shining. Road in front of the house is dry. Mark worked on the church parking lot yesterday so hopefully it won't be too icy! Our congregation is middle aged and older so we don't want any breaks!
The lady who is in a wheelchair opted out today so we're going to pick up the lady who we get on Wednesday.
Gotta run and get ready as we're leaving early to give ourselves plenty of time.
Have a great day!

Good Morning!!!!

he did look cute with his buzz! I think it scarred him for life because now he looks like Jason Momoa!
This cracked me up!!!! My oldest who always had a buzz cut, now has hair longer than mine. And #2 son is working on it too. #3 just doesn't want to deal with it but is willing to let me cut it enough to be off collar. But maybe that's why they all have long hair now. Mom made them cut it respectably :floorlaugh:

Its POURING rain. The drive and side roads are better than any ice rink I have ever skated. They shine better than any mirror. We are going to attempt to get to the highway which should be okay but we shall see. The coldest part of the day and its 35!!!! Instead of 3' of snow on the ground we have 1/2" buried under ice or nothing. The winds blowing. Its nasty! Not amused. Will see if I can get photo comparison for you later today when the sun is up.

Need coffee and to access the drive and wether I wanna step foot out of the house.

Good Morning Everyone! I was coughing so hard yesterday and so overall crummy Mark made me stay home from church today. He went, his job today was to drive the golf cart to ferry people from their cars to the front door. And now Belle is at urgent care with either an ear or sinus infection. It's always something!

@vickyday I missed the conversation about why you're having to redownload everything? Is that from the store or from one hard drive to another? Sounds stressful!!

@AK_Tracy LOVE your sense of humor about the ice and the shine!

@taxed4ever I'm so sorry about your brother. I'm glad to read you've had some good time with your sister. I'm praying for you as you work through these next weeks and month with him.

@AK_Tracy LOVE your sense of humor about the ice and the shine!
If you cant find the funny, it would be depressing :floorlaugh: Took the dogs out after their breakfast. Skated across the porch, looked at the steps, skated back inside and said park your butts, where staying home. Then just as hubs turned off the shower, total blackness. Power went down. Thankfully just for 60 seconds and was back on. Scramble to find flashlights, fill water bottles. Turn the heat up a degree. Now we wait. Suns still not up. Using cell hot spot for internet as its now down. Oh its fun! I would gladly. take three feet of snow over this. I know how to do snow.

Well, here it is almost noon and I am still in PJs... Not sure if I want to get dressed or not. I was feeling cold just after dinner last night (6:30PM) so headed to bed to read. After 15 minutes of being there... realized that I needed another blanket on the bed as I was still feeling cold!! :brrr: Put another heavy blanket on but it took almost an hour before I was finally warm. Ended up reading until after 10PM. Woke up a couple of times but went right back to sleep, thank goodness. Didn't wake up completely until 7:30 this morning. Guess I need to push the heat up to 70*F in the afternoon so I don't get so cold. I forgot to do that yesterday and got too cold even with my heavy robe on....

Having a big debate with myself... drank the single cup of coffee that was in the pot... so do I made another pot or switch over and have some hot apple cider instead??? Apple Cider wins as it is much faster (thank goodness for the microwave). BRB

Ah... love the hot apple cider! That warm up the body!
@BrightEyes I hope that you slept better last night with no tossing and turning. Can you pay that bill online so it is done before the due date?
I don't pay bills on-line so write checks and mail them. Usually I have plenty of time to get them there... but didn't pick up mail for several days as it was too cold out and I wasn't feeling good. There is a bit of lee-way after due date before there is a penalty. I am not quite as tired as I have been but not up to doing much.

@AK_Tracy Wow... that is dangerous with all the ice.... understand why you prefer snow to rain!!! Here is hoping your weather goes back to 'normal' with snow falling.

@mimes1 So sorry that you are sick and coughing so much! Yes, staying home was the right thing to do. Sending you some virtual chicken soup and healing thoughts.

Time to get some lunch and may take a nap.

Amy, I had an EHD crash! Yeah, the redownloading is not fun! But, you do whatcha gotta do!
Probably smart for you to stay home today, too! I have a cough I cannot seem to get rid of! At times I feel like I'm going to cough up a lung.....my eyes water, my nose runs, and I start sneezing for some weird reason! Drives me nuts! I've coughed so much the last 2 days my throat is sore today! What a nuisance!

People here in NC don't know how to do snow! And it's especially bad on ice! Fortunately, everyone did fairly well this time with the ice! Mark and pastor and another guy worked on the church parking lot yesterday. It is totally in the sun and was completely dry today with a little ice around the edges on the upper side where the snow was melting.

we live in a snowy area so we have 50% more then in town and around. But that also means the ice is more.
This is my driveway today, you can see the rain bouncing in the puddle.

This is last year, same time. Sorry its sideways.

Finally getting some time to pop back in here!
The weekend was mostly unproductive, even though we did lots of things.
On Saturday we drove to get Jess fitted for new pointe shoes. After driving for more than an hour, and spending almost 90 minutes in the store fitting all kinds of shoes, we walked away with... nothing! :banghead: The one shoe she feels comfy in is the one shoe they didn't have. So she could compare with the almost-perfect shoes to find that cinderella pair. So back to square one.
At least the dance shop closer to us opens again this week after their renovations, so I'll phone them up to see if they have both shoes in stock in the right sizes so Jess can cocompare. Dancer feet are temperamental!!

Yesterday was the first sunny day in a while so we ignored the dust gathering in the house and the laundry piling up and headed to the park for a picnic. Came back and had a video call with my parents, which is always great. I did miss my siblings though, as even after 3 years of scheduled calls on the same day every month, they still manage to forget our family chat more often than not :sad1:

Anyway, morning coffee is done, so time to get catching up on :laundry::ironing2::mopping: (yikes, that washing emoji is waaaaay to happy about chores)
