But at the same time: :hug4:

I missed you all!!
I had a wonderful time. The weather was amazing- it was a little colder and windier than I would like but it was sunny and dry. In the grand scheme of things, that is all that mattered. I got back here at 5 p.m., hopped in the shower, and Cait got home at 5.15. Sam and Scott were here for dinner and Tom made it after work for dessert. ♥
I am an utter mess. I didn't have time to do anything other than pull the bag of dirty clothes out of the suitcase and dump it-- bag and all -into the laundry basket. Gary and I are going to see Scott's house for a quick visit this morning and then I am cleaning for my friend at noon. It's going to be a busy day.

(I miss the beach already)

I am going to try and catch up with personals but it is going to be hit or miss and bouncing around. Flag me if I miss anything!

@LSlycord Thank you so much for starting the threads while I was away! :hug3:
I'll tell Cait you said Happy B-Day. It has to be so exciting and impressive to see Syd all set up on Linked IN!

What?? Oh no--
I am going to have to go back and see what is going on with Carolyn and Mark.
@vickyday Many many good thoughts to Mark. I hope the tests show that it is nothing serious.
Sending love to Carolyn as well, can she use a walker or a scooter?
Love the poncho!

@bcgal00 Lots of good luck and fingers crossed that everything moves forward with the house. I am not surprised that the shingles are hanging on, I am positive the stress is not helping the situation.

@taxed4ever Oh wow, I hope that Lyrica helps the nerve. Gary was on that for a while but it didn't help or hurt him. It's been on the market here for a long time. When will you get the scans done?
The weather sounds pretty near you esp with the leaves changing.

@BrightEyes What the heck? I go away for a few days and it's like medical hell rained down- Good luck with the GI appt.
I am so glad that you-- and everyone so far- seem to be getting appts quickly.

@Cherylndesigns I haven't seen any new news about Marley so I guess no news is good news? Please let it be that.
Caitlyn called me Wed morning, Badger had died right before she woke up. She was still warm when Caitlyn got out of bed for work. :( We did a video call when they buried her. Two rats in three weeks and I wasn't with her for either. :brokenheart:
Squirrel is the only one left.
Your sandwich sounds very good - although I would substitute a different fruit for the mango. ;) We found an adorable cafe for b-fast yesterday and my sandwich was scrambled eggs, ricotta, lemon zest, and crispy pancetta on brioche toast.
I love brie and your combo sounds so good. I love the sweet and salty mix.

Yikes, I have to sign off.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes for my girl

Good morning ladies!!! It's Friday!:friday: You can tell that I work a regular 40 hour week can't you?!! Today I meet with the cardiac surgeon. Then we wait for the heart cath in 3 weeks. I'm really ready to get that done so that I can plan. I don't do that well with the unknown...and yet, it is really ALL unknown.

Not a lot planned for the weekend. Tomorrow the expected high is 84 and there is a big fall festival about 45 minutes from here so I think that we will head there. It's a working farm and you get to ride a hayrack out to the pumpkin patch. There are lots of vendors. It sounds kind of like one of the fall festivals back home. I'm trying to not get too excited because the festivals that I have been to here are lacking! But I'm hopeful. And it is funny how very much the weather tells me the seasons rather than the calendar. I couldn't understand why the festival was coming already...until I really studied the calendar and realized that we are in fall so it is time for fall festivals!

Also interviewing some builders for the home in Iowa. And an architect! Talk about a crazy process... What did I get myself into this time?!!:upsidedownbanana:

I will be back for personals later. HAGD all!

Carolyn has one of those walkers with a seat on it, but she can't stand on her feet well enough to use one. Her left leg is useless, unfortunately!
Mark had blood in his stool and the test they gave him says it is coming from the colon, so next week he is going to have a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. I appreciate the good thoughts for him and Carolyn! :lovey3:

Good Friday to you all!
My IBS has kicked in this week. I've been sick to my stomach a lot. The last time I was sick to my stomach so much it turned out I had a UTI when I went to the doctor. I'm going to give it through the weekend and if I am still having the problems I will call the doc on Monday. I'm praying I'm not going to be one of those people who gets lots of UTIs in my elderly years!

IBS is associated with stress. I'm trying to leave my cares with the Lord, but I keep them close at hand still. I feel like it shows a lack of trusting the Lord on my part. But it is hard to not worry about Mark's health, our finances, and then my health on top of that! Prayers appreciated!

I did get my challenge page done for my collaboration challenge for October. I didn't get any commenting done in the gallery, however. I really need to spend some time doing that today.

I'm going to have to give up on this yarn for the baby blanket as it is too "twisted" and gets even more twisted as I knit. And you can tell it because the blanket is all puckery. I'm disappointed in the yarn, for sure! I may just wait until the baby is born to see if it is a boy or girl and buy something afterwards.

Mark's went to the woods to build himself a fire. I'm sure he is enjoying some quiet time reading. It was in the 50's this morning so I'm sure the fire felt good! It is chilly in the house this morning, too, so I'm wearing a sweater.

That's about it for me.
Have a great Friday!

Quick in and out again this AM. Jim and Alyn usually sleep until around 9 - 10 so I have a bit of time to pop in here. Had a really nice surprise yesterday - got a call from the installer and the guy was able to put the kitchen faucet yesterday afternoon! The original date was Oct 2nd.. so I was jumping for joy to get it done earlier. Not so good news was the dishwasher would not cycle last evening - would only do the 1st step then quit. It had done this a few times in the past. The good news is that I got up this morning and tried to start it again hoping it would work... and it did!!! Guess it is time to look for a new dishwasher as this one is almost 12 years old. Don't want to miss time with the kids while they are here - so will wait for a week or so before I start the hunt for one I would like to buy. If it quits before then, we can always hand-wash the dishes. :spinningchair:

Welcome back, Chris. Glad you had a good time with your mom on your mini-vacation! So sorry that 2 of the rats died while you were gone.

@taxed4ever - glad you got to see your doctor about you arms/shoulders. Sounds like what I have going on with mine. The Ortho doc called it 'shoulder impingement' with arthritis (calcium build-up) between the shoulder and arm bones - plus I have a tear in the rotator cuff. You have my utmost sympathy.

@bcgal00 Hope the sell on your house goes through and you can buy the one you saw. Good to know there is a back-up so if the 1st contract on your house doesn't work out there is an alternative so you could go on to another buyer. So sorry the shingles are still bothering you. :hug2:

@vickyday Keeping Mark in my thoughts and prayers.
In answer about the New Mexico chili powder... yes you can get it on-line. Amazon and Walmart have it... just be sure it is New Mexico chilis used to make it. Warning... IT IS MUCH HOTTER than other chili powder. Unless you like really spicey/hot get the MILD. It comes in Mild, Medium and Hot. I am at a loss about the recipe as I go by how the sauce smells and taste as I am making it as to the amount of spices that I use for it. Each year's chili harvest can vary in 'hottest' so one year I might use 3 Tablespoons of chili powder and another year it might 5 tablespoons for the right seasoning. After the kids are gone, I will try to write down the basis of my recipe.

I hear them stirring - HAGD

Morning ladies... it is a cool but very sunny morning! I had a great sleep last night and feel rejuvenated this morning! The pills that the dr. prescribed have not given me any effects, so that is good! They seem to help with the pain and my new ergonomic mouse seems to helping also. Although it is taking some getting used to. The operating system on my old iMac is too old to be able to program some of the buttons on the mouse, so I have had to find ways to do certain things combining my keyboard and the mouse :desk3: it is very frustrating to say the least LOL. I got a calendar page made yesterday and it is also a layout for a pre-release, so that makes me very happy to have that done. It looks like today will be our last sunny day for awhile, the forecast for the next week is rain everyday!! Thank goodness, we sure do need it! Hopefully it will make the lake a lot nicer to paddle in. I am wanting to be out there, but not with that horrible algae bloom. The Nationals for the rowing team is supposed to be at the end of the month here and sure hope the lake is nicer for that! Not sure what is on my plate for the day, other than some scrapping and getting out for a walk in the sunshine. We are helping the In-Laws with a few things this weekend and FIL has an appointment with the eye doctor on Tuesday. Wonder if the dr. will finally tell him its time to stop driving ??? I doubt it, but we will see.

@faerywings - Welcome back!! It sounds like you had a great time at the shore! So glad that the weather was good, too bad it was cooler than you would have liked though. Sounds like you will have a busy day! Not sure yet when my scan will be, waiting for the phone call from the clinic. Sad for Cait that she has lost another one of her babies!! Sending hugs to all of you! :hug2:.

@LSlycord - I hope that the fall fair lives up to your expectations!! What??? Did I miss something?? Are you building a home in Iowa??? When did this happen?? :eek2:.

@bcgal00 - Sending lots of positive vibes your way that everything goes smoothly with the house sale! I bet you are busy getting things ready to pack! Didn't you just do this?? LOL. I hope this new home is your forever place and that you will be truly happy there! Sorry the shingles are acting up again! The meds I am on right now are good for shingles rash pain too, are you on any kind of medication??

@vickyday - That is so sad that Carolyn is having such trouble with her leg! So sad to see your good friend struggling so much! That sucks that your IBS is acting up so much also! I hope that you get some relief from it soon, yes stress is a terrible thing and I will send a prayer up for you all !

@BrightEyes - Thanks for the sympathy with my arm troubles! My DH said he works with a lady that has the same thing and she was able to get some kind of laser treatment on it that cleared her problem up. Hoping I can get the same! I don't like taking pills and sure don't want to have to be on this very expensive drug for the rest of my life!! Glad that you were able to get the new tap installed and that the dishwasher keeps working while you have your company! Enjoy the rest of your time with them!

Ok I am in need of my second cup of coffee and then I will get the morning chores done. I hope all of you have a lovely :friday:

Thanks, Kay! With my IBS I can't do too spicy, but Mark LOVES it hot! I could probably find a recipe online and use your chili powder instead of whatever the recipe calls for. It will only be for Mark to eat, anyway!
And I appreciate the prayers for Mark! :lovey3:

Good evening all.

First of all, welcome back Chris @faerywings we've missed you and it sounds like you had a great time at the shore. Glad you had a good bd celebration.

"@Cherylndesigns I haven't seen any new news about Marley so I guess no news is good news? Please let it be that.
Caitlyn called me Wed morning, Badger had died right before she woke up. She was still warm when Caitlyn got out of bed for work. :( We did a video call when they buried her. Two rats in three weeks and I wasn't with her for either. :brokenheart:

Marley is acting so "normal", Chris. We're praying that we got some added time with her. We can't totally get our hopes up, but hey we can always hope. I'm so sorry about Badger and OMGosh 2 rats in three weeks????? I don't care what they are, they're out pets and we love them. We've spoiling Marley and every time I see her, I tell her "this belly rub is from Aunt Chris".

Here's a picture that Ava just took of her - we're still going day to day and praying for a miracle.

marley-web.jpg

She doesn't have the stamina she used to have, but the good news is that she came down to our house a couple of days ago - on her own - to visit. I let her in the she stayed for awhile. She hasn't seemed to have the energy to do that for awhile. We really don't know what to think.

About the sandwich, whatever sounds good to you works. I happen to love mango but it's not everybody's cup of tea. Your combo sounds good and I love the different flavor profiles.

Good evening ladies! Interesting day with the heart surgeon. First they called and asked if I could get there earlier. The surgeon had a heart transplant he was doing tonight...just found out about it...and he wanted to go home and get some sleep beforehand. :brokenheart: That seemed like a legit reason to inconvenience me a little bit. Truth is that I don't really like him that much...not very warm and seemed to have a very big ego but I suspect both of those things make him very good at what he does.

He started by asking me if I wanted a TAVR (where they put in a new valve by going through a vein) and you spend a night in the hospital and then you go home and you are back to work in just a few days or Open Heart Surgery. The heart cath needs to be done if I qualify for a TAVR but I told him that if I qualify that's the route I want to go. Well, he is a surgeon and he thinks that I should want OHS because it will be easier if I need to have another one at a later date. Of course, I'm not a surgeon and they are now able to do a TAVR inside a TAVR...technology continues to improve. I told him that if the TAVR seems to be a good solution, that is my preference which seemed to annoy him. But we don't have all of the facts yet so I'm waiting until after the heart cath on 10/16.

So more "hurry up and wait"!
