I am back! And I am *frozen*. Crazy to think that less than 24 hours ago I was sitting on the beach all toasty warm in shorts and a tank top. Today I am bundled up to my ears. All of your good weather vibes worked! It was raining here when I left on Tuesday, but by the time we got to the shore it had stopped, the sun was out and it stayed that way the entire time. Could not have asked for better weather.
Everything was very lovely- the B&B we stayed at was adorable, we ate good food and sat at the pool and on the beach.

I have a lot of unpacking to do this morning and get some laundry going. Gary and I are driving Caitlyn to her licensing exam. It's about an hour away so we'll drop her off and then wander around a bit until she is done. I have no idea how long it will be and where we will go to "shop." She checks in at 12.30 and it ends at 5 pm. Long day for everyone, stressful for her on top of it. She has been studying and she knows her stuff.

I am going to post this, then I have to get my day rolling -- I will read up on what you have been up to, but not sure if I will be able to post personals today --

sending everyone big hugs!

Good morning all! I am back...the pain and swelling has left my arms and hands and I can now type and use the mouse! Yay for me! And, as long as I'm very careful, I can wear my glasses again. I need my glasses to see close, so this is a darned big deal.

This was my day to head to Iowa...but I cancelled the trip. I knew that I wouldn't be in any shape to travel...and I'm not. Still sore and my face looks terrible and I honestly just don't think that I would have felt like making the trip. But I did get a voucher for the flight and refunds for the hotel and car.

I got a call about the job yesterday afternoon. They had already completed the background checks and the reference checks. Unfortunately, one of their clients decided to postpone a major project until first quarter of 2023 so they closed the job opening. The offer letter was in HR being reviewed. They said that they might have another job opening in the next couple of weeks and they would like to present me for that one. I originally said yes, but then I called them back and said that I didn't think so. This is the second time in two months...and I just am not in the mood to be jerked around like that again. Maybe later...but now I'm going to take some time and enjoy my life.

And the good news is we are modifying the road trip just a bit. We had initially planned for me to get home Monday night and then we were going to take off Tuesday morning. Changed the plans. We are now going to wait a week...let my face heal a bit and get rid of the rest of this soreness. We will be home when Syd comes home next weekend. We will also be able to make a swing up through Iowa to see the folks I missed this weekend. :) And it will be a week later for the road trip so the leaves will be a better show for us!

Ok...that should have you all caught up. Except to show you my face. I'm pretty sure that I would have terrified all of the little kids in Iowa with this face.

@faerywings I am so very glad that you had such good weather for the trip! Beach days and time with your mom sound like they were just what the doctor ordered. I am so glad that you had that time as a memory to keep you warm through the winter...don't you wish that it really worked like that. Good thoughts about Cait today...I'm glad that you and Gary are taking her...that's not the kind of extra stress that anyone needs when they are getting ready to take an exam like that. Even when prepared, it is mentally exhausting.

@BrightEyes thanks for opening up the O's. I had thought as the morning person on the east coast, I would do that. I guess that goes under the category of "best laid plans". Our temps are in the 70's today with a high expected in mid-80's. So, to me, it feels like it's a little chilly. LOL I'll take it! Glad you picked up some good reading and watching material.

@bcgal00 I saw that you had the energy to take a photo walk. How wonderful was that! And the trip to Vancouver sounds wonderful. The Elton John concert will be amazing! I have seen him twice, both times years ago and he was fabulous. I can only imagine the emotion of this farewell tour!

@Cherylndesigns your energy amazes me! Now that we have a little bit cooler weather, I'm going to try to take advantage of it and get our yard improved as well. It was hotter...and wetter...here this summer and things just didn't hold up like they did previously. I thought of you yesterday...I binged on 1883 yesterday. Brian hadn't watched any of it and he sat and watched the entire thing with me. That says a lot for 1883!

Ok...I'm off. Going to really try to get cleaned up to be respectable. Don't how long that might take. LOL

OH.MY.GOODNESS!!! I've missed being in here this week, so I'm going to have to go back and find out what happened to you! Glad to hear you are getting better, however!
I think you made the right decision to call the company back and say, THANKS, but NO THANKS! I hate it when companies treat people like that!
I hate that you missed your trip, but sounds like a better one is coming up! Good deal!

Hello Ladies!
I've been MIA in here this week. But, I've been doing some scrapping. Lots of other miscellaneous "stuff" also, but just that.....boring "stuff" so I won't bore you with it, LOL!

Earlier in the week a cousin made a comment on one of my blogs that took me down the ancestry rabbit hole! As a result of his contact and sending me a couple of pictures he had, I've done a couple of heritage pages. I love seeing these old pictures! I'm hoping he will have more to send to me!

I'm still scanning photos.......what a job! I'm not going to be done with it, either, when my daughter comes next weekend!

The temps and weather has been beautiful here in NC this week! I'm really surprised the leaves are not turning more than they have. Our yard is full of leaves, however, but they are all brown! I can't wait for the beautiful colors to make their appearance!

Mark is still working the OT hours, so that's good! He thinks he is going to take half days off on Friday, however, so he can get some work done in the woods! So, I half expect that to happen today! So, I'm gonna close out for now! Might be back with personals after I catch up on my reading for the week! ;) But, if not, have a great weekend, all!

Good morning my lovelies.

Chris @faerywings welcome back!!! How wonderful that you had such a great time with your mom. Good news about the weather, too. If was raining when you left, so I'm sure you were hesitant. Sending good vibes to Cait for her exam today. That's so supportive of you and Gary to go along with her and just "be" there for her. I'm sure she'll ace it, too. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

Linda @LSlycord you poor thing - bless your heart! Good call on delaying your trip - especially since you couldn't even wear your glasses until today. You really did a "number" on yourself, didn't you? I'm sorry about the job but you're right - don't let them jerk you around. There's so much of that right now. You'll find something and you have a wonderful trip planned in the meantime - you'll be able to heal and look at the fall colors by then. It's still hot here, but you can "feel fall" in the air. The nights are cooling down, too. By early evening, it's just delightful.

I've been pretty busy - but I remember how hot it was in Florida. I used to clean around the pool a lot because I could play in the hose and then get IN the pool when I got too hot. We had the most dirt catching pavers around our pool. In the summer, they got so moldy in between - that kept me busy. My spots are getting better on the back patio - I went out and worked for a while yesterday. I'm going to have to use something else on my outside door - I have some mold remover that I'm going to try. What a HOT summer it's been!!!

We had Ava's black lab for several hours yesterday. She's getting big, but she's still not as big as Daisy, but she soon will be. Daisy and Bailee play so well together, but little Lila doesn't play well with any other dog but Daisy. The three of them are a handful. Lila wasn't here yesterday, so it was fairly easy. Our house isn't very big so it's a lot of dogs when they're all here - plus the cat. "Cici's Animal House". Hahaha

Vicky @vickyday, keep on scanning girl. You're getting some great old photos. I need to start again - I have a ton of slides that I need to work on again. That's a real labor of love. I SHOULD break down and send them in - I don't know why I've been putting them off. Separation anxiety I think. I know Walgreen's will send them away and I don't think I could stand it if any of them got lost. Decisions, decisions. I can scan them myself, but it's a huge job. I have a slide scanner on my phone. It's a one-at-a- time job.

Well, I'd better get busy. Casey is coming to clean about 3 and I have a lot to do before she gets here. I have been letting my house go all week. My mom used to say "you can't work outside and inside, too". That's my story and I'm sticking to ie. BWAHAHA Plus I've been super busy with CT things.

Hugs to all the TGIF

Good morning ladies. Welcome back Chris!

We are heading out soon to the furniture store to see if they can give us a delivery date for the dishwasher (they have been promising delivery since May and keep bumping it a month longer each month). I want to see what is in stock in the stores and buy something that we don't have to wait long for. I am not happy that the Brick didn't tell us that if a product is coming from the manufacturer (not their own warehouse), then there is no telling when that might come. I feel like there will be less options now as opposed to April when we pre-purchased the dishwasher but we'll see if we can find something. Our dishwasher works (sort of) but b/c the soap dispenser doesn't work, it isn't cleaning properly. Wish us luck. Then we'll head over for a coffee visit with friends before coming home. I'm still taking a 1-2 hour rest in bed each day so am planning outings to accommodate that before dinner time.

Watched the first two episodes of Handmaid's Tale last night...so good (as always). Love that show, so intense!

Jen is loving her job and will probably do that until at least next year sometime. The only bad thing is there are no benefits so eventually she'll need a job that does but for now she is so happy there. Bella apparently is doing really well too, following along as Jen does chores and playing with other dogs.

@faerywings Glad you enjoyed your trip with your mom.

@LSlycord Oh no...I missed seeing the post about your injury so had to go find it. I can relate, having had a few really bad dog related injuries (yrs ago one of my dogs ran at me to get the ball, barreled right into me and knocked my front tooth out and cut up my nose. That's why I have a bridge in my front teeth). Hope things heal up quickly and what a relief to finally wear your glasses again.

@Cherylndesigns Sounds like a busy time with the dogs. Today you'll have a nice clean house. I need to get some chores done that slacked since I was sick.

I'd better go tell D to get ready, time to go soon.

I had a slide scanner at one time, but it didn't work very well.......or I just wasn't doing something right, lol! It definitely was a pain!
Do you not live in FL now? (your comment, "I remember how hot it WAS in FL")
I've been loving your Fiddlette Designs layouts! I'm headed to the store to pick something out to play with!

Well, missed checking in this morning... better late than never! ;) Spent the morning scrapping. Just had to do the Quote It Challenge about friendship with my crazy BFF and I. Slowly getting back in the swing of things. Need to get a bite to eat then think I will read - and probably take a nap, too.

One of my RH gals came over yesterday afternoon to pick up the Pyrex baking dish and insulated tote bag that another RH gal left here last month. We had a nice visit... although we kept the 6' distance between us. She had been to the NM State Fair a couple of days ago and my throat was still a bit scratchy. I ended up napping after she left.

Welcome back, @faerywings - so happy you had good weather at the shore! Wow, what a chance from hot to cold when you got back home. Glad you are driving Cait over for her test. Sending her good vibes for it.

@LSlycord That wise of you to postpone the trip until you are recovered from the fall. Sorry it took a few days until the face was healed more so you can wear your glasses. Don't blame you for telling the company no thanks on another job instead of the one you applied for.

Ooops... DD is calling. Back later.
