I am back all rested and tanned!

Bwuahahah!!! Nope. Not tan at all, not even a bit. I think that we saw a stretch of blue sky for about a half hour the entire three days we were away. It sadly was rainy and rough surf but at least we got to see the ocean and got our feet wet once.

The towns were preparing for the waves and were building up the sand dunes to prevent more beach erosion, so in a couple of the areas, you couldn't even see the ocean. The town we stayed in has a very small beach so I guess there isn't enough sand to build dunes. We were able to sit there on Wed. We got to see a lot of surfers out which was cool. Yesterday the wind and surf were so strong that we couldn't even sit but we walked on the boardwalk for a bit and watched the waves.
Overall, it was nice to get away, we had a nice dinner out one night and an amazing breakfast yesterday. Nancy- I don't know how close you are to Middletown but we went to a diner called Meemoms in Wall that has a second location in Middletown. They are 25 different kinds of French Toast. I had a banana bread French toast that was drizzled in caramel and chocolate sauce and topped with vanilla mascarpone cheese and walnuts. OMG, to die for!

I was happy to get home and see the family and the dogs.

I am dragging a bit today. I have to unpack and clean for my neighbor in the afternoon. I will do my best to catch up with all of you in a little while! I missed you too!!

good morning - well I am so tired of not seeing the sun. I hate dreary days and we have had a lot in a row. They (the weathermen) keep saying sun should be out tomorrow but then tomorrow comes and it is still dreary. But I am not going to say too much as I am not getting hit with a hurricane. My girlfriend is near Myrtle Beach in land but I know she is getting dumped on by the rain. After having the storms of Irene and Sandy and others I really do feel for those in Carolina. They are talking about TopSail and Jacksonville. Those are the cities we stayed in when we visited our son when he was a Marine stationed in Camp Lejeune. It is so sad to think of the damage being done to those cities. Enough about the weather. Had a good walk with Luther just enjoyed being outside. Had a good talk with my sister. She is enjoying her new job but she is getting to the point where she is ready to retire. That will make our traveling much easier LOL. My players reported for media and physicals and all but Miles Wood who is having a contract dispute and Cory Schneider who is recovering from hip surgery are good to go. That is very encouraging! Turns out my team's training camp is going to be a 4 part NHL special so that is cool. I love to see the behind the scenes. Got another year backed up and that is good. Today is just low key as Luther is at doggie day care and I have a few errands and maybe even grocery shopping. Makes me shudder.

Chris glad you got away and so sorry that the weather did not cooperate. I bet is was nice to get home and see the pets and kids and your Gary. They must have survived without you but I bet it was hard.

Trudy so glad that Heather is enjoying having only Hunter home for a while. My next door neighbor said that she is enjoying having her youngest home alone while the two oldest are in school but that the youngest cries and wants to go to school. Her oldest is in 1st grade and for the first time full day and he comes home exhausted. I remember those days but glad mine are over.

Rae have you all heard any more about B and her treatment. Maybe I missed this. Good luck with the wedding this weekend. I hope I have the date correct.

Have a great day!

glad you had a good time away despite the rain Chris.
All the best to your players Nancy

I've finished the first sign - JOY and am making a start on KINDNESS. My youngest is at Math's competition I'll be collecting her soon. I hope she had fun as well as success. My eldest was performing at an international conference with her school choir earlier today, which should have be a great experience for her. So I'm expecting to hear lots form both my girls when they get home later.

Morning ladies... A pretty nice morning so far, but I can't believe how quickly all the leaves are changing colours. I am still in denial that summer is pretty much over :mmph: Yesterday was pretty uneventful. I did manage to clean out a couple more drawers in my kitchen and get them organized, more junk thrown out and soon my kitchen will be so much less cluttered! Today I need to do a couple of cupboards and the rest of my pantry, ugh... so much crap in my pantry I am not looking forward to it! Next room will be de-cluttering of my craft room, so I will have to look for some closet organizers for that. I also need to get my summer clothes put away and see what I need to buy for fall clothing. I love sweaters, so looking forward to seeing what is out there in the way of new sweaters and cozy tops.

Chris - :hello: sweetie and welcome back!! We missed you! Sorry that your weather was not great for your little vacation, but you knew that might be the case. Glad that you did have a good time anyways! That restaurant you went to for the French Toast sounds oh so yummy!! Did you find any little treasures in the shops there? Seeing the surfers must have been great, they are braver than I could ever be out there on those huge waves! I bet the dogs and your Gary and the kids were so happy to have you back home too! Hope that you can find some time to relax today between putting everything away and cleaning for your friend!

Nancy - I can totally relate to not liking the dreary days! That is one reason we live in the area that we do, it gets way more sunshine than other surrounding areas. Its funny but if you go for a 20 min drive it can be pouring rain and yet sunny here in the valley. Yes Heather is liking having her alone time with Hunter, but he wants to go with his brother every morning and cries when he leaves LOL. Glad that those days are over for me too, that is why being a Grandma is so great, you get to see them and enjoy the cuddles and fun for a while and then give them back LOL. Hope you enjoy your day alone, bet Luther has fun at doggy day care!

Angela - Wow your girls are very busy and I hope that they both do well with their competitions! You are busy with your crafts, so I bet that makes you happy too! Enjoy your Friday!

I am ready for another cup of coffee and then I better get to work in my kitchen. I hope to do another page sometime today also and check out all the new designers goodies here at the O! I hope you all have a fabulous Friday!

I'm getting ready for the weekend when on Saturday I'm responsible for a user group and the afternoon talk at my usual computer genealogy group and then Sunday a talk at a different group that involves an area wide project that I need to work on too. Plus my friend has a new draft of her article that needs review. I'm feeling swamped! Summer is so nice with almost none of this.

Chris, I think your time away sounds nice, but then I liked the Jersey shore in October/November for birding.

Nancy, glad your knees feel better and hope that makes the trip easier. You are so good with the backups now.

Angela, those signs sound wonderful and what great times your girls must have had.

Trudy, your kitchen will be a marvel when you're through! Good for you. Also you make sweaters sound so appealing that fall might actually be nice.

Rae, hope that giant armoire is working in the basement and holds tons of things for you.

Wishing all a lovely weekend.

Hi everyone! I am going to try and catch up slowly here starting with Tuesday. Hope I don't miss anyone!

Nancy- sorry to hear about your knees. I hope that the cortisone shots last long enough to get you through your trip to Sweden. Great work on getting your photos backed up and deleted as you need to. Must be fun going down memory lane at the same time.

Trudy- glad that the cold didn't stick around too long. I bet that resting and not overdoing it was a smart thing. That and some tea!

Rae- the dresser sounds like it is a great find, especially since you don't have to refinish it. it will be great to have extra space for your off-season clothes.
Good luck finding a lens fo the new camera.

Wednesday:

Trudy- congrats on going down a size in your jeans! I have no ideas for organizers except that IKEA is genius. Sorry about the tariffs... (you know I didn't vote for him :p)

Nancy- we got a tiny bit of blue sky on Wed. Have you heard from your friend in SC? Hoping that she keeps her power on. I totally get it about the "kids" needing to be able to be on their own but who can afford it, at least in this area?

Wow, hockey season will be in full swing before you know it! That has to make you really happy!

Rae- you have been busy cooking, I hope that you are able to bring more food in for B to get her appetite back.

Angela- both of my kids were born with Lyme Disease and it was crazy when we had to go to their doctor's every three months, plus all of the meds and side effects and issues with the schools. I feel your pain with the exhaustive nature of it all. Good luck getting time to scrap!
