Yay for Friday. :faint:
Its too bad I still have two more full running days before I get to slow down a bit. And then-- please tell me I am not going to have to deal with the supermarket on Sunday, PLEASE!!!!! Have any of you been following the weather for the Northeast US? Ahhhh! The weather forecasters are talking hurricane/snow God knows what Monday, Tuesday, into Wed???
Not good!!!

I am back into my "Oh its just the meteorologists doing their thang to get the ratings up." That is what I said at this time last year and we got 19" of snow dumped on us for Halloween, and up to a week in some places with no power. We were lucky to be out for only three days. Poor Gary has been working on Halloween props for the yard since the summer and if its a hurricane/snowstorm again, they will all have to come down. Not to mention all of the kids....and the 6 bags of candy in my cabinet. (I am not too worried about the candy, I am sure it will get eaten LOL)

So my rambling point here was that I will be out of food by Monday as it is, and if I want to make sure we have stuff to make if we lose power and the stove etc, I might have to deal with the stores on Sunday.

I am off to work today then my mom is stopping my. Cait';s sneakers are falling apart and I have not had the chance to get out with her to find a new pair. My mom is the Shopping Queen and found 2 pairs of Vans' on sale, half price. Woot!!! Then I have kids here tonight, tomorrow I am taking Scott for his Written test for his driver's permit. Cait is going to a concert, Mayday Parade if any of you have ever heard of them. They are Pop-Punk, kinda fun and she loves them and wants to marry them. Ah to be young again!

I need to take some meds for my back and shoulders. I hurt. Hoping its just overwork and not a Lyme flare cuz that would suck.
Lyme-- I saw on Facebook another life lost to Lyme. That has been three in the last 2 weeks. I met this boy a few years ago when we met up for a " Lymapalooza" in NYC. Nice kid, mid 20's. It scares the %$@* of me. I don't know whether to comment or re-post to add awareness that lyme kills, or to just be quiet and not freak my kids or Gary out. I usually just ignore it, as sad as that sounds.
Some die from complications, others from suicide. Not that it makes much difference in the end :(

Anyway, that is my "Cheery" note of the day.....

How about I add in some gratitudes to end this on a positive note:

I am grateful for:
My kids' laughter even when it is directed at me.
The fact that I have food and electricity to worry about, when so much of the world does not.
I have a job today.
I have friends who listen to me whine and loveme anyway!

Love you all!!

Morning Chris & the rest of the O fam- I did hear about that storm- it may be so big as to drop snow on me too! I got both dressers built- and really like the look- they are huge in my bedroom, but since we are not going to move or sell the house anytime soon- I don't care. My old dresser was drawers under the bed and the long term plan is to put current bed in the spare bedroom (which has no bed) and buy a king bed- then there will really be no room. So today- not so warm and lots of tidying from yesterdays building spree, all the earlier in the week trips to do, and maybe some cooking! Off to exercise- last day of my week off from work- do I have to go back next week?????? Answer - not if you don't need the $$- okay guess I will go back.

From yesterday:

I hope that I didn't offend anyone or scare anyone off with my opinionated soapboxing. Sometimes I get going, and i put my foot in my mouth. I try not to and if anything comes across as rude or ignorant, it is *not* intentional. Sending out hugs and apologies if I did.

Phyllis- any luck with those tops for you? We have been cool and dreary-- I would love to be seeing some 80's temps here. Any crazy forecasting going on my you? Just snow?? ahhh!
You are pretty far inland so hopefully you won't get much of anything from Sandy but snow??

Laurie- how is the IKEA project going? I can't ever put those darn this together, I have *no* sense of spatial intelligence.

Terry- at least you tried. Better than I could have done!!!
I am with ya-- anything colder than 50 is like an ice box. I live in the wrong area.

Katherine LOL I won't tell on you, I promise! Hope you got everything done that you needed to.

Jen- I am so glad I don't leave where you do!! I would not like that at all!!!!

Time fo rme to head out. xoxoxxo!!!

After reading yesterdays debate, I have to chime in for a minute :becky:

I know there are major flaws in our education system...and I agree, this country is way behind. But I also agree with the mental and emotional break once in a while...while this may not mean a day off, at least some down time during the shcool day to let the child regroup a bit....My "littles" are so filled with work they don't even get time outdoors to play most days. They come in from school with so much penned up energy they are exploding. FOR GOODNESS SAKES THEY ARE LITTLE KIDS!!! They are more interested in those SOL's than what may actually help the children get more motivated!!! Poor Jesse is in Kindergarten and he complains that all they do is work and get rushed so much to do more work. :mad2: and Cameran, 8 yo...has two hours of homework every single day....sometimes he has so much he doesn't get to play outside because he does homework almost non stop from the time he gets here and then to his house until he goes to bed....Little ones don't need to work this much!!!

Okay..gotta get the kids ready...I will be back.

Morning Ozzies as Phylis would say. A bit cooler here today, but no word of a storm passing through this way thank goodness!! TGIF and all that stuff! Sounds like I will be doing one more week of extra hours as they have been interviewing new people and will be hiring soon. :mmph: Oh well it means that I can get my bills paid sooner and then get the Hell outta Dodge!! (or the home hardware anyway) LOL.

Chris - Sure hope that the storm does not hit as hard as you think and that all of Gary's hard work needs to be taken down. That would be awful!! Sad about the Lyme death's, hope it has not shaken you too much!! Never apologize for having an opinion on things, we voice all of ours here too and hopefully we don't offend anyone! But after all its just an opinion and we are all entitled to one right??

Laurie - Really? Your week off is almost over already?? My gosh where did the time go?? Hope you got to do everything you wanted for your holiday!! sounds like the new dressers you put together turned out great! You will love getting a new king sized bed!! We love ours and wonder how we ever did without it! Enjoy the day!

Nana - I think that 2hrs of homework is insane!! Makes you wonder what the heck are they doing in class that they have to take all this work home with them each day?? I do agree that the kids need a break of some sort during the day to recoup and rest their minds, get outside and get some exercise!! Do they have mandatory physical exercise at school each day?? Hope you enjoy your day, I am sure you will be having a very busy weekend

Terry - 16hr work day???? Are you crazy?? I complain about doing my 8!! Yikes girl you are gonna kill yourself doing those hrs!!

Jen - Brrrrrr!!! Its cold where you are! I do not miss the prairie winters!! But I do miss all the sunshine hours we used to have all winter in Sask. Hope your checkout goes well!!

Have a fun Friday everyone! Looking forward to the weekend!!

hiya. just got back from my gynie appointment. ouch. well, that's over for another year, i hope. :twitch:

ran a few errands on the way home, and now i'm settled in back at home. gotta figure out what to do with the chicken breasts i'm thawing out for dinner.

Chris, never apologize about having an opinion. as one of my friends said the other day: it's what makes the world go 'round. you don't constantly try to shove your politics or opinions down everyone's throat, so the occasional outburst is A-OK!

about the school thing. i think the question parents have to ask schools is this: why do my kids have so much homework and American students CONTINUE to be at the bottom of the barrel, academically? i think it's a valid question, and someone needs to start asking it. the schools are failing. it's past time we figure out WHY, and fix it.

the storm is actually supposed to reach me, Chris, if it all unfolds like they say it will be. but it's going backwards over the "mountains" here, so a lot of the rain/snow should be dropped east of here. heaven only knows what and how much is going to be falling on YOUR head!

Jen, it sounds like it's FREEZING at your house! is it early for you, or is it always like that in the Canadian plains at this time of year. how you feeling with the pregnancy? hope all's good!

Terry. sounds like another vacation, or at least a day at the golf course is in order!! that is WAAAY too long of a work day! :faint:

Laurie, you know what? we have a king size bed, which we love. but it seems to be harder and harder to find king sheets, and the commercially made king comforters are NEVER big enough anymore! i actually got sick of it and had a comforter made at Penney's that was 2 feet longer and wider than the ones available in stores. glad you got the dressers together. i'm impressed!! i am so stupid with IKEA directions it's pitiful.

well. just going to sit around and let my "innards" settle down for a bit. then it'll be time to COOK. AGAIN! :hurt:

hope your Friday is going great!

I know we will love a king sized bed- that is what we always get when we stay at a hotel. I even have the sheets for it already- gotta love kohls 30% discount coupons. Now just waiting to get the bed. What to cook tonight, chicken, pork, meatballs- I think the meatballs are going to win out.
