Welcooooome to spooooky-season! I guess that Oct 1 is the "official" start to spooky season although my family has jumped the gun by a week. LOL Shhh- Braxton does NOT count as part of Halloween. He is the family friend and is welcome year 'round.

Gary has been so busy getting the skeletons moving and burned out the first motor on the ladder skeleton already. ROTFLMAO For the newer people reading this, this is an annual thing. Gary builds the skeleton scenes from pieces and parts of junk. He spends all year "saving" stuff (aka storing all sorts of things that should be in the garbage in the basement) and then using them to make the props move. Every year, he builds motors that burn out. And then he needs to find one piece from basement/eBay/thrift store/etc to rebuild it. Until it burns out again a few days later. This goes on all month, until a few days before Halloween when he says he is giving up, that the yard looks like s***, no display this year. That lasts a day or two and then he gets everything working and looks great for the 5 trick or treaters we get. :p

It really feels like Autumn here and I saw this on FB and had to share it.

Isn't that very "me?" haha!!

So let's see, yesterday I got a bunch of things done to wrap up my to-do list and I even got it done earlier than I expected so I spent an hour or so outside collecting morning glory seeds and cutting down all of the dead vines. I also got a few marigold seeds too but most of them aren't ready yet. I made yummy chicken dinner and roasted potatoes. I will have leftovers to eat all weekend from all of the cooking I did this week- Three nights in a row of actual full meals.

I am meeting Arlene for a hike this morning, I hope I don't get too cold. Although.... *points to T-shirt^^*
We are going to the arboretum and I haven't been there in the fall before so it will be neat to see how the flowers/trees have changed since I was there a couple of months ago.

Not much else. Sending lots of love to you all!

@tanteva Glad to hear that work was quiet and calm and my fingers are crossed it stays that way today too. You won't go in on the weekend at all? Hopefully, you can enjoy DSD tomorrow.

Kay that is great news about the booster shot appt and that it was easier to make than the first time around. We are still waiting to hear about J&J and Moderna. I don't think I am eligible for the booster but Gary is. And who knows what is up with J&J for Scott? Next time Caitlyn goes to her immunologist she should ask about Pfizer.
Good luck with the appt and I really hope that you don't; have side effects, esp since you had a rough time with them before.
I love scrapping in October (go figure LOL) too and the DSD sales are amazing.

@taxed4ever That is too bad about the weather on the hike but you were prepared, especially with the mittens! The hot bath sounds wonderful, what a way to relax and warm up. I am so glad that Canada is having a Truth and Rec Day. Was your Gary underfoot? Hope not. Mine-- however-- was. Always is. Good thing he is cute :D
That is my plan, I would love to get off most of the meds, the anti-anxiety ones especially. But that makes me the most anxious about weaning off. I will have to go nice and slow and try to use all of the tricks I have learned (and ignored) over the years to keep me straight.

@mywisecrafts Ugh, that sounds ridiculous about the HOA fees. When will you be moving? Would love to see pictures of the progress of the new house. We put an addition (second level) on this one in 2003 and it was.... interesting. We were living here while it was done and the kids were 5 and 7 yo. And we had 6 cats and a dog!
Did you end up playing hooky with the meeting?

@vickyday eep! That sounds not so good trying to get up the stairs like that! I hope you are holding tight to the railing.

@Cherylndesigns How is Lila's eye doing? Must have been fun to have her and Daisy hang out together a bit. that is fab that your cleaners are nice, makes it much easier, but the best is having a clean house.
Enjoy the Homecoming Game tonight. Very smart of you to sit on a chair instead of the bleachers.
ROTFLMAO! yes, I wanted to copy you - I haven't broken my collarbone yet (*KNOCKS WOOD*) and was giving that a shot LOL!!!
Did your skeleton come yesterday? Hope he wasn't dead after being in the box that long.

Love to all of you!

Creeping in here...had a rough night. Went from being too hot at 9 PM to freezing about 2:30 AM. Staggered to closet and pulled on a heavy long winter robe.. then added fuzzy socks on feet... then back to closet to grab a heavy terrycloth robe to use as a blanket over the covers. Awake off and on the rest of the night. Yep - running a temp 100.8* but BP is normal - thank goodness. Going to get something to eat then crawl back in bed. Looks like I will miss all the fun of DSD this weekend. But... even with the side effects of the Covid Booster - I think it is worth it.

Oh, yes, Chris! The handrail is a MUST in all of the hoisting, LOL! Sometimes I just walk the distance around the deck to the carport instead......longer but less trouble and easier on the left knee! ;) Ya do whatcha gotta do!

Morning everyone, the clouds have moved on and it looks like it will be a great sunshine filled day! I have a few errands to run this morning and I need to pick up my grocery order soon. Yesterday was a frustrating day. I did not get any of the scrapping that I wanted to start done. DH decided I needed to help him find a IPTV provider and get all that set up so he can watch all the hockey games he wants to. So I spent most of the day researching and finding one that would not be a rip off and then got it all set up on our android box. Sheesh, oh well he is one happy camper now and we have a ridiculous amount of channels to fall asleep to LOL. I hardly watch any television and don't even turn it on until DH gets home from work, I usually have the radio going or listen to a podcast or two during the day.

@faerywings - Chris, as you can read from above, yes my Gary was underfoot the entire day!!! I think I made three pots of coffee as he was constantly asking if I wanted to have a coffee break LOL. Why can't you make the coffee???? Answer... yours always taste so much better. REALLY???? He is just too lazy to do it! MEN!! What on earth will I do when he actually retires?? He did do a few jobs for me too though and it was good to kick him out to the garage and get some sanding done on a couple of wooden rounds that I will be turning into door signs. Too funny about the motors always burning out, but at least that keeps your Gary busy and out of your hair for one month of the year! ;). Glad that you don't have to do much in the way of cooking this weekend, so nice to have all the leftovers! Enjoy your hike this morning with your friend, I hope the colours are amazing! Yes that hoodie is the perfect top for you!! Love it!

Kay - I am sorry to hear that the booster did a number on you! DH and I have been so lucky, so side effects from either of our Pfizer shots. Hope that if we do get a booster it will be the same! Take care of you! Try to stay warm and sorry you will be missing out on DSD!! (((HUGS)))

@vickyday - Sounds like you have a good solution to not using the higher than normal step up! My DH has bad knees too and I sure wish he would just hurry up and get them replaced, why are men so stubborn??

Ok well I better get in the shower and get to the grocery to pick up my order, will run my errands and then back here to get some layouts done and leave some love. Have a great Friday everyone!

Afternoon, all.

Chris, you had me at Me 24:7 LOL You know I collect funny T-shirts and sweatshirts. It's back up in the low 80's again. We just got back from the kids' Homecoming Parade. It was SO cute - SO small town Americana. I got some cute pictures.

Kay @BrightEyes I'm so sorry you're having a bad reaction to the booster! That scares me because I was really sick after the 2nd shot and I'm not looking forward to going through that again. I told Chuck I wasn't getting it, but he's going to convince me to get it. I guess I will. Feel better soon!!

I got my skeleton yesterday! Still haven't named him. Maybe Rex? Tex and Rex? I haven't even put him out on the porch yet. he's sitting at the bar. Bellying up to the bar. Hahaha I'm trying to find a bandana for him before I take him outside.

I'm going to sign off. Going to that parade did me in. There were SO many people there. There's not much excitement in this little burgh. Haha

Waving to all - Chris - stay upright!

good evening - well I cant believe it is Oct. Today was a sad day as it was my last appt with my GP who I have had for over 30 years. He deserves to retire but I am really going to miss him. But as far as the physical went it was all good. My Blood pressure was the lowest it has been. I talked to him about the booster for Covid and if I could get it and the flu shot at the same time. He said not problem. Then found out I need the tetnas booster so I guess I will get all three at once. I did not sign up yet as I have my a wedding tomorrow and did not want to deal with side effects. Luckily is should be a beautiful day for the wedding. High in upper 70s so I won't freeze. I am watching NJ Devils hockey and OMgosh they defeated the NY Rangers 7-1. This is preseason and I still like the wins. The good thing today is I got my car inspected and I don't have to go it for two more years! Yea!

@faerywings Chris I am so sorry about the face plant. But glad not hurt too bad. I worry about Luther knocking me down but so far so good knock on wood. I love that sweatshirt. And I am sure that those skeletons will be keeping Gary busy!

@tanteva Eva so glad that work went so well! Of course you get another shit on this weekend!

@taxed4ever Trudy my Devils have won two games LOL. But it is hard to find hockey in the US too as the US hockey package has gone now to ABC not NBC. Weird now I have new channels to remember. Not good for an old lady. Glad you got to go on the hike. I really don't like rain but you sound prepared. I guess you have to get your DH some hobbies so that he stays out of your hair. I know when my uncle retired all he did was follow my aunt around and it drove her crazy. But I am sure your Gary will find stuff to do. I continue to tell your Gary that knee replacement is so worth it!

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl yes our parade was when the rodeo came to town. Schools made floats and all the horses were dressed up along with the riders. Glad you got photos. Congrats on getting your skeleton. I am sure he will look great in a bandana!

Waving to all!

DSD is stressing me out! I'm so behind with everything, and playing catch up with myself, and cannot enjoy this even a tiniest bit.

Nancy @nancyr we live in a little "one horse town" as they used to say. LOL Actually, there are lots of horses. The parade was "hokey" by city standards, but SO refreshing to see "Americana at it's finest". They threw candy to the kids and they were going nuts like they had never had candy before. They must have closed schools because there were a ton of kids there. It started at 1:30 in the afternoon and we drove to where the parade started and went early and got into a parking lot where we could pull right up to the road. I stood in front of the car to take pictures. Both our GKs were in it and it was so exciting to see them. The girls all had on formals - Alyssa was representing Honor Society and Braden because he's on the varsity team. Like I said, it's a really big deal here.

Oh, I'm SO sorry to hear about your losing your doctor. I have a funny story for you. We've been here a little over a year and we're on doctor #4. Doctor #1 passed away and they decided to close the practice, Doctor #2 (who we REALLY liked) decided to go work in the Critical Care that was part of the corporation, Doctor #3 was a JERK - we couldn't either one stand him and Doctor #4 is good, so far. Chuck REALLY needs a doctor because he has a lung condition, so it's been very frustrating. The Ortho that the Critical Care sent me to when I broke my clavicle is amazing, though! We loved him the minute he walked in the room. He's so funny and upbeat - we wish he was a GP.

Hi all.
Kay- sorry to hear about the booster shot. I am due in November for mine.
Cheryl- the parade is so cute! small town america!

DH and I went grocery shopping today for ourselves, his mom and our daughter! Fun fun!
Saints game is tomorrow and I am letting my DD go with my husband and I am watching the baby. It's a tough life, but someone has to do it. I watch him tonight as well. He goes to daycare two times a week so i am in partial mourning. I miss him so. He is just about 19 months and a dream! I have been trying to do some DSD but have not been successful. Too busy. Yuck!
