Good Friday to y'all!
How was everyone's holiday? I hope it was very nice. Mine was nice having my family around me. But damn, by 6 pm, I was wrecked. We left around 8 and I could barely stand by that point. But I brought home some non-turkey leftovers, so i don't have to cook tonight. Yay!

Today- I have to get my kitchen cleaned super-good and then I need to start working on some Faery-Wings things.
I also have to see if my kitty Merlin needs to get into the vet. Over the last week or so, he has lost so much weight, and his stomach seems bloated. He is really old- maybe 15+ years? He was an adult when we adopted him. We brought him into the vet over the summer b/c he was having diarrhea, but that went away, and he started gaining weight back. I have no idea what he has going on now, but I don't want to see him suffer. He is the sweetest cat, very cuddly and affectionate but not in a PITA way like Catzilla LOL

Not much else to say here (don't be too shocked by that, I think I used up all of my blabbering in yesterday's post!!) so here is my QOTD What is your favorite Thanksgiving/Family Holiday food?
My mom's stuffing. She even made an extra tray for me to bring home.

Finish It Friday:
Guess I have a lot of "end of the month" stuff to wrap up- I can't believe that December is only a few days away!

eek! It is 9 am, I really better get a move on-
Quickies from yesterday:

Cinda- that is so awesome that you and your family volunteer like that! how is your 11 yo feeling?

Trudy- Gary was able to come with us!! It was just terrific- He looked like he was going to pass out a few times, but he made it through. My goodness, what a team we are!haha!!
My mom is like your MIL with holidays. I have found that low-key is much more enjoyable than hectic. I am of the mind set that if you show love and appreciation in the "everyday" why do holidays need to be crazy? THat is just me and MHO :D

Oh and I loved that Friends episode and I think Sara posted the WKRP in Cincinnati clip on FB. Too funny!

Sara- I can't wait until you are back!!!!

Jean- I love your "thankfuls"

Cinda- sop happy to hear DS is all good!

Morning ladies... hope everyone is over the overeating of turkey and all the fixings!! Now its time to get ready for Christmas!! I still haven't even started making my calendars yet :fear: I am so not in the mood for the holiday season! I did a bit of Black Friday shopping on line, but did not find the prices too much different than before. So perhaps I will wait a bit and see what happens. I had to get the two toy gifts for my grandkids that they wanted before they sold out so that is at least done and free shipping too so hooray!!

Chris - That is great that Gary got to join you!! I think that my MIL's problem is that she has never worked a 9-5 job in her life so she has no idea how exhausting it is to work all day and then have to travel, pack everything up and go spend a hectic few days with family. It will be nice for my SIL to just relax and stay at home, although I have a feeling that they are probably going out to party with friends :becky:

Sara - Nice to see you pop in on us here! Good luck with your finals!! I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving with family!!

Jean - Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving Day and did not get sick of watching Football. I adore my MIL also, but she is very stubborn when it comes to people not thinking the same way she does LOL. But we have always been good friends, she openly admits that the daughter that does not want to spend Christmas with family this year is her favourite, I think that is mean, and it really hurts the other siblings, but you know what, its none of my business, she is not my Mother!

Cinda - I hope your day feeding the homeless was satisfying! It certainly was a nice thing to do!

QOTD - I love the mashed potatoes with gravy and of course the Turkey as long as its cooked properly!!

Enjoy the day everyone, I am off to swim, watch out for those Black Friday crowds!!

good morning! It is windy but at least it is sunny! Had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Spent the day with family! Got up early yesterday and my youngest son and I spend the morning watch the Devils practice. They looked like they remember how to play so I can hope they remember to play tonight too. It really is fun to watch the drills. You can see that they take it seriously but yet I really think they enjoy each other. There were times when you could see they like each other. We were not allowed to take pictures and that is really the pits. Came home and then went to my oldest's home and there were 10 of us so it was really nice not too big and not too small. We all brought stuff and we all ate to our hearts content. We were done by 8 and then came home and now today I have leftovers to eat. I love turkey sandwiches.

Chris so glad that your whole family got to be together. I am sure you are tired but I bet it was worth it. We got snow early and then freezing rain and then rain and back to snow. For a while I was worried we would lose branches but luckily the rain came and no damage done. Nine inches is a lot for this early.

Phylis, Trudy, Jean, Laurie and Cinda hope you had great days yesterday. Trudy I know you had your Thanksgiving earlier.

Trudy and Chris until Zach married the only family we had was the four of us. All relatives lived across country so for me now to have others to share with well I find it a blessing. I know that relatives are not always our friends but still for me I like it. I think my sons missed out by not having cousins or grandparents.

QOTD - I am thankful for family especially my sons and DH. I am thankful that my son found the woman of his dreams and she is lovely! Thankful for all my friends here too!

QOTD - I love pecan pie but I did not make it as I am really the only to love it and to eat a whole pie well lets just say I don't exercise that much!

Have a great day all!

We took a little time out to check on birds in Lake View yesterday. DH commented that we hadn't seen the turkey (one was around last winter). Next area we checked, there it was! Our Thanksgiving turkey. We roasted the smallest chicken we found at the store and still only ate half. At home a different sparrow was under the feeder (American tree sparrow) they are common winter visitors, but may never have had one in the yard before. All good day I'd say.
QOTD: I don't think any food is my particular favorite, but my mother did make a dressing (not stuffing as she didn't roast a bird usually) that I especially liked. In DH's family, sometimes at Thanksgiving, but usually only at Christmas, I adored the goose and my BIL's version of red cabbage.

Chris, hurray that Gary made it and you had a good time - and got leftovers. Your busy day today sounds actually better than many.

Trudy, good thing to get the toys ordered and I think you're right about online Black Friday prices not being a lot better than other sales during the year. Still, the timing is right.

Nancy, sounds like a great family time. Hope the weather cooperates for your walks. Wonder why you couldn't take photos at the practice - no spies for other teams wanted?

Hope everyone is recuperated and not ambushed in a Black Friday crowd.
