The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Hap-eeeeee Friday! :dance2:

First off, thank you for the good thoughts for BFF. Her doctor reassured her that she was all good, nothing to worry about. Will she continue to worry? ummm, yes. Yes, she will. I promised to keep her as grounded as I could. (Pretty funny coming from me, the anxiety-ridden person that I am LOL!!)

So what else is up besides complaining about the cold temps? My mom and I did a bunch of online shopping for her and she is not as stressed as she was on Wednesday. She got a few things for the kids, mostly Scott and Caitlyn, and a couple for Tom. Unfortunately, Gary says he wants/needs nothing. That is a problem for me as well. He said he doesn't even want the shortbreads I make every year for too many years to count (considering I am only 29 :giggle4:).
Will it even *be* Christmas without a pan of shortbreads cooling in my closet? :crying1:
We went to TJ Maxx and she found a few more things, which made her pretty happy.

Who has fun plans today?
Since I am not working until Dec 6, I don't have to worry about any plans/prep for today. That isn't going to stop my brain from running with ideas in the background. I wish it would work that way for scrapping. I am still just soooo uninspired.
I have some housework to do but maybe if I can take care of that, plus run the errands in town, I will feel mentally free to get some scrapping done.

Now that I have wasted almost half an hour staring at my monitor attempting to write a post for today's Ooos, I should post this and get rolling

Have a FAB day!

Praying for your BFF. I totally understand the ptsd. Every time Mark gets sick my anxiety kicks in!
I hear you. When Gary had that bad episode last week, I couldn't get the knots out of my stomach for days.
What did you and Ilene do yesterday, besides Quirkle ;)

So I will go get some groceries then...Syd is cooking Swedish meatballs for supper. She made them for our Dinosaur dinner and I didn't get one. They were a big hit and she was irritated with me for not making sure that I got one. So that is supper tonight!
Sydney cracks me up. Are you both heading back home today for the weekend?

This place likes UF grads a lot...so that would help with the interview I'm sure. And I'm sure that they know her professors. It will work out however it is supposed to work out. I'm going to subscribe to Debby's grandma's theory that "things will work out for the best." Since we are still 6 months from when she could start a full time job, she has time.
That's all we can hope for, that things work out the way they are supposed to.

Then I can come home to relax
yeah, riiiiiiight!!! :floorlaugh:
You can sit still for very long at all, but this time of year? Let me know how long you relaxed, hahahaha!♥
Have a wonderful time at the market today, hope you find some amazing gifts/decor/ideas.

Sometimes I make personalized ones, but this year I'm so far behind on stuff commercial will have to do. It used to be easy to find cards, now they're more scarce, and not as many designs. I do realize that I'm a dinosaur in this regard. So be it.
My mom is the same way.
I used to do the kids' photos as cards, then digital, then I stopped completely.
I'm feeling cozy in my fleece undershirt and heavy sweatshirt, my handknit wool socks, and a nice cup of coffee as I try to read this month's book group book.
Sounds very cozy! I need to pull out my alpaca wool fingerless gloves for when I am sitting at my desk. I love them, they make me feel cozy too, even if my nose stays cold.

It is nice to get ahead. I hope they pay you for the time you put in at home!
They do! I don't log all of the hours because a lot of the time I spend researching the topics is because *I* want and need to learn as much as I can. I also feel bad- we are a non-profit, so we don't charge as much as some of the bigger environmental centers. If I logged all of my time, we would lose money. 100% in my own best interest to keep the organization going ha!
But I'll tell ya, getting paid for prep work never happened when I was teaching PreK. I either did it on my lunch break or at home, off the clock. So this is a nice switch.
And for everyone --- don't make yourself crazy, it's just holidays!
I am stealing this and getting it tattooed on my forehead and on both hands.

Got my AJ layout done, scrapped 6 personal pages and uploaded them to Shutterfly.
:highfive: Wow!
. I'm at the 12 on 12 off stage of the game. Two weeks of doing this and then it will be on to my compression tights like I was before. Feeling better but we're at the nerve awakening and numbing meds being totally gone stage so its crazy random stabbing pains that you have to either medicate (no thanks) or rub them (ouch) but its getting better.
Love to hear this!! I know it has to be a PITB (literally this time around) but all of these steps forward are amazing!
Do you need more surgeries next year or are you set for the time being?
Whoo-whee... It is raining!!! We need all the rain we can get. Our state is still in semi-drought condition. It is a slow steady rain that started some time last night and forecast to last all day. The high for today is will in the 40's... Brrr... Debating whether to do a PJ day or put sweatpants/sweatshirt on???
Whew!! yay for the rain!
Did you do PJs or sweats? In my world, that would be daytime PJs or nighttime PJs. Basically the same thing :D

I put the Topm Hanks book on hold and it's ready to be picked up at the library. That is one of the errands I need to make this Monday. I am 3/4 of the way through The Restoration Garden, so I'll finish that first.
Thank you and @LSlycord for the book recs!
Hello my friends. Just thought I'd pop in to tell you all that as of November 30th, I will be stepping down from my CheeryO duties. My life has taken lots of new turns and most are for the better. However, I still have some lingering changes that have pretty much zapped my time and in turn, my creativity. It's SO difficult to be stepping down after all this time and I know that I'll have lots of motets of sef doubt. But, for now, this scrapbook page of my life must turn to the next chapter
Sure, sure. Make me cry here in public after I cried in the back side of the O. *sniffs*
I am holding you to that promise that you will pop in here. We need Peanut and compound updates --and often!
IIRC, Trudy and/or Rae made their own bone broth- maybe check in with them?

My friend called me at 6:30 this morning she was so upset because the guys putting her roof on didn't do a good job and that it looked terrible could I come look so I walked over...Long story they are fixing the issues for her.
Yikes, you don't want a roof to be done poorly on practical and aesthetic levels. Glad they are fixing it.
I walked with my friends today then 6 of us went to a great appetizer/wine lunch at a great Italian restaurant. We have so much fun.
You are zipping around, my friend! Lunch sounds fantastic and fun!

Time to get some breakfast and get the day started!
:hug4:

@faerywings glad your friend is ok...she will worry and I'm sure you will too but at least the Dr said she is good. One of my good Florida sister/friends just got diagnosed with breast cancer---ugh. We will be there to help her but it is always be a worry.
How nice that you cyber-shopped with your Mom....then you went TJ Maxx.
I hope you get your mojo back with all that time you are going to have to scrap...no work till Dec 6---oh my what will you do with yourself. I hope you do something fun during your time off
Sorry for your cold temps I hope you can endure.

I went to the grocery store to pick up the last few things I need for the stuffing and pea casserole I am taking to our club Thanksgiving feast on Sunday food is not cheap anymore. Going to Clearwater today to get the backsplash tile then lunch.
I hope to have a quiet afternoon when we get back.

Have a good day everyone.

Guess my body rebelled last night. Went to bed to read at 7:30PM, turned the light out at 8:30PM and slept until 7:30AM!!! Yes, I was busy all day... stripped the bed, rotated mattress (so easy with the double fabric handholds), and did laundry: organized the books; scrapped a LO; searched for and downloaded images of books (for the book club tracker); and... yes... read a book then started on another one to read in bed. BTW, Chris, I stayed in my winter PJs all day. They kept me nice and warm. :) But I need to get dressed today...the rain stopped last evening and the sun is out now. Need to do a couple of errands.

And... DD#1 called yesterday morning. She had sent a text 2 days ago that she had lost her voice so I was surprised and happy to hear from her. She had figured out that if she drinks anything with caffeine it affects her voice... so no coffee, tea or sodas..... I suggested that she try green tea. She is trying the 'favored' waters so at least she has something more that just plain water.

I jumped onto the Black Friday sales a few minutes ago and ordered an American style waffle iron from Amazon... it should be here this afternoon!!! :dancing6::dancingbfly: You can guess what I will be having for breakfast tomorrow morning, :floorlaugh: And speaking of Black Friday Sales...have you looked at the BF sales here at OScraps??? WOW...Check them out...

BBL

Good morning. I slept until 7 this morning. Sydney called from work mid-day and said that instead of Swedish meatballs, we needed to go see Wicked For Good at a theater about 20 minutes from here. They are one of those theaters where you order your supper and they deliver to your seats. I drove...love the safety features on the car and I love the seat warmers and the steering wheel warmer. Good selection on the car! Bought all of the groceries for Swedish meatballs yesterday so that's tonight's meal.

Sydney works from home on Friday, even though today she is volunteering at a food bank for 4 hours. So I got up and made biscuits and sausage gravy for us for breakfast. I also got my grocery order done for the next week...our local store has specials on random days where they will give you a discount on gas when you buy $XX of groceries. The gas is at their stores. Today's special was 30 cents off each gallon of gas when you buy $60 of groceries. I wound up with a big fuel savings. Having the groceries delivered and Brian will put them away. We are talking a big win for me!

@faerywings I am so glad that your BFF's doctor was able to reassure her. Not enough to make it go away I'm sure but still at least some facts to place in her mind. Hope you get lots done today...but I know how that really goes, so...

Sounds like a delightful day!

A quiet day sounds good. And I bet you will also find time to scrap. ;)

I promised Chris @faerywings that I'd keep in touch here in the DailyO's, now that I'll have more "breathing room". There's so much I need to catch you all up with ~ life om the compound never stops rolling along. LOL
Yes, I for sure need to be caught up!

Two weeks of doing this and then it will be on to my compression tights like I was before. Feeling better but we're at the nerve awakening and numbing meds being totally gone stage so its crazy random stabbing pains that you have to either medicate (no thanks) or rub them (ouch) but its getting better.
Oh those stabbing pains sound awful. Hope you are really healed soon!

I've done well with my 2 cup coffee limit lately, right now I am sipping on ginger lemon tea, not as enjoyable as a coffee but its not bad. I'll refill it with hot water and then get out of here to walk Remi before I run my errands.
I need to clean up my eating habits (including coffee) for sure.

Ok ladies, going to go spend a little time spreading gallery love! Have a great Friday!

Morning
:mad::gloomy::mad:
Its raining! Almost 40° and RAIN! WHY who said it was allowed to rain here? Now we have slop everywhere and the rain will freeze and grrrrrrrr really? Rain? Not amused.

But, for now, this scrapbook page of my life must turn to the next chapter
:crying1::crying1::crying1:
I have a love hate of this announcement. I love it for you and the next chapter to come and spending all your time and love on your family and cute little Peanut but I hate it for me. You must update us now and again as youre such a huge part of my O family and journey.
In the meantime, (back to real world) ~ I know there are some of you who drink bone broth and I'm thinking that some of you make your own.
We make broth all the time. We're crazy too so keep that in mind :giggle4: We make chicken and beef. If we cook or buy a rotisserie chicken we put the bones (and skin) in the instant pot, cover with water, 1 tablespoon vinegar (helps get the goodness out of bones) and cook it either pressure 1 hour or low and slow for 8 hours. When we have bone in steak or roasts, we save the bones and do the same thing. It gets hot enough any germs are killed. If we have soup bones you can do it several ways, depending on what you want the broth to taste like. You can add onion, carrots and celery to the bones and then cover with water and cook. Or you can just go basic boring and do bones pinch of salt and water. We've done both depending on what we want but the seasoned broth is WAY better. We just made a roast that was amazing in the instant pot. And cooking with the instant pot you have to add water. So after we pulled the roast from the pot, we strained and saved the juices/broth that was left. Last night we used that broth to make beef pot pie. It was so rich and flavorful.
So what else is up besides complaining about the cold temps?
Not me. Need it to cool back down. Dang warm weather is killing me and the roads. Rain is NOT okay from late Oct to early April.
Gary says he wants/needs nothing. That is a problem for me as well.
This is where we are at too and while there are things I want, new knives and such, I dont need stuff just to have stuff. So I suggest gift cards to eat out. I love a night out where I dont have to cook and its a treat. So that is an option and wont leave you with stuff to deal with later.
Do you need more surgeries next year or are you set for the time being?
I have at least one more. We fought insurance to get arms/trunk approved and now we are working on an extension since it took them almost a year to get the approval. Had to keep working our way up the appeals process then we finally wont that but it doesn't start the "one year" clock over, it starts from the original submission, which was November '24. So now we have to get an extension and the doc office is pretty sure we will get it since it took insurance so long to approve. But if we get the extension, I'm leaning toward May or June for the surgery so that my schedule is more open and I dont have to find someone to take over cooking at church. Plus summer is great for arms surgery and tank tops are easy to put on LOL
Going to Clearwater today to get the backsplash tile
Eeeekkkkkkk so exciting!!!!! It has to be amazing and fun to finally get all the pieces knowing that they will soon (January) start the remodel. So exciting when you actually get to see the pieces and pick them out and it no longer in dream about it phase.

Well, dog are demanding breakfast. With the weather no much happening here. I dont wanna be on the roads. Have a wonderful day!

I've been using the same music/audiobook app on my PC for about 20 years, never upgraded because I have done a lot of tagging, which wasn't easy with the old tools, and I didn't want to lose any of that. That player is deprecated in Windows 11 so I needed to upgrade and to organize my audio files -- a whole bunch of audio books and 3 or 4 dozen music CDs that I've either ripped or downloaded. So I had a heart-to-heart with Chat GPT and downloaded a new app, which actually makes the cataloging and tagging quite easy. It also emphasizes the shortfalls in my system. I spent almost all yesterday afternoon checking, fixing, and updating. I suppose it was a waste of time but there's something about doing that fiddly, detail-oriented work that puts me in the zone. As a bonus, this new app lets my old Samsung TV connect into my library and I can play music in the living room.

Going out for lunch at a Thai restaurant with some of the women from church; looking forward to a nice hot bowl of soup or something. David is doing his normal Friday at Habitat for Humanity. He says there is a school group coming today and they will be preparing lunch. I think he's a bit dubious.

It's forecast to rain tonight. I hope it stops by morning because I've scheduled a bridge-building day. I hate having to make the "should we cancel or not" decision.

Two weeks of doing this and then it will be on to my compression tights like I was before
Every step back to normal life is a victory!

6 of us went to a great appetizer/wine lunch at a great Italian restaurant
That sounds fantastic. If I weren't freezing I'd go for appetizer and wine instead of a bowl of hot soup.

I've read several David Baldacci books and always enjoy them, I hope you like it. Which one are you reading.
We are reading A Calamity of Souls. It's supposed to show how bad racism was back in the 60s but I'm actually not convinced we've gotten very far more along.

I need to pull out my alpaca wool fingerless gloves for when I am sitting at my desk. I love them, they make me feel cozy too, even if my nose stays cold.
I love my fingerless gloves. I also wear a hat in my office. But there's nothing to keep my nose warm. I wonder if I could knit a tie-on clown nose?

OOOPS... just re-read the OS email and realized that the OScraps Black Friday Sale starts NEXT WEEK! But they do have a lot of wonderful things on sale this week!!! And I am behind on getting the challenges done this month (my own goal each month).

I am doing a happy dance... my waffle iron was delivered!!! It was so much fun to track it on Amazon... which I watch the tiny truck on the map move its way down toward my house. It even showed 1 stop before getting here. :D I had just finished cleaning up from making French Toast for lunch... with a lot extras now in the freezer. :floorlaugh: Will make extra waffles and freeze them.

Realized that This Moment by Palvinka was just released so took time to get it out in digi-land. Brough back wonderful memories of our trip to Athens...I am missing hubby a lot today.

I suppose it was a waste of time but there's something about doing that fiddly, detail-oriented work that puts me in the zone
I love busy work like that. Its not a waste because it makes us happy and things are organized like we like.
OOOPS... just re-read the OS email and realized that the OScraps Black Friday Sale starts NEXT WEEK! But they do have a lot of wonderful things on sale this week!!!
Whew, thought I missed something :giggle4: So many fun kits and each weeks release and I should just give the O my account number and tell them to charge it all :floorlaugh:

Sure, sure. Make me cry here in public after I cried in the back side of the O. *sniffs*

I KNEW that your reaction would be love/hate, Tracy @AK_Tracy ~ but I'll still be around and you know how to get ahold of me, anytime. Thank you SO much for these recips. Ava and went walking today and started talking about how to make this and she wondered if we c coul use rotisserie chicken bones. What a great idea to also use the bone in meats. I appreciate this information so much.Ill be fixing mine in the crock pot.\\

Linda @LSlycord I will definitely keep you al updatd. I also told you that I'd update all of you on the haps around the compound.

Yes, Debby @BoatLady lost of new things happening around here.

Yes, rotisserie chicken bones are amazing. Add the skin too as it has tons of flavor!!! Best chicken broth ever!! I would say 8-12 hours in crockpot as you want it to release all the goodness of the bones. (low setting).

And yes, I know how to get ahold of you and you will hear from me often.
