I made it! :D
What a blast we had this week, my little group was awesome. I learned (and relearned) a lot as well. My big takeaways were: 1. Don't do a painting project and make slime in the same session. The kids loved it but it is a *lot* of prep and cleanup. 2. Don't jinx yourself prior to the last session by saying there hadn't been any potty accidents. Just. Don't.
We made it through to the last hour of the session and then —oops! We had finished our art project/slime in the Pavilion and walked up to the Main Building to use the bathrooms and wash our hands. As soon as we were done, we were going back to the Pavilion to eat lunch. I told the kids to leave their backpacks at the Pavilion.
Everyone goes and is back lined up in the hallway so I do my headcount. My littlest one then says he has to pee. I send him back into the bathroom and then: "my pants have pee." Legally, I can't go into the bathroom by myself to help or be alone with any camper. I radio to the camp director to come downstairs. The girl I was working with took the other 5 kids back to the pavilion to start lunch. Then Nicole and I realized neither of us could leave to get the boy's backpack and change of clothes. We have to radio *another* staff member to get his backpack. He brings it back, and we three adults stand in the hallway to help one 3-yo put on his clean clothes. As soon as we were done, I got him ready to walk down to the Pavilion and OMG-- I realized that I can't take him by myself and Nicole has to walk us over! We were laughing so much- such a chaotic 15 minutes and we were *literally* right there- by the bathrooms, when it happened. So nope-- I will never jinx myself like that again!

Some of the parents seem interested in another session and I passed that info along to the Director. She'll send out a survey and if we have enough kids to run it again, we will do that in August.

I got home, decompressed for half an hour, and then started cooking dinner. Scott and Sam were back from their camping trip and asked if they could come for dinner. They had the wildest time. The pictures were so funny and a little scary. The second night at the music festival rained heavily and most of the fairgrounds got flooded. Their camping spot was shin-deep water but their tent stayed mostly dry. Thankfully, they sleep in Scott's truck. Sam posted some of the pics on FB and they looked so happy-- even as they slogged through the flood.

I am off to clean for my friend this morning and chances are I am going to collapse in a heap this afternoon. I woke up at 4 am and couldn't get back to sleep so it's already been a long day.

Have a fun day, whatever you do!

What a scare we had yesterday afternoon...We are all set up in a field to camp. I was inside starting to fix dinner when another camper arrived. They were backing up, backing up and backing up, closer and closer.
YIKES!!! That sounds terrifying!! Scott and San had something similar happen to them a they were leaving the festival. B/c of the flooding, the venue had tractors to help pull any cars that were stuck in the mud on the last day. One of the tractors was pulling a truck into an empty spot next to Scott. Sam was in their truck, watching them slide in the mud and they came within a foot or so of them. Scott slept through most of it, but got the tail end of it. That would have been so bad...
Thankfully, you and your camper were unscathed, but I bet you were shaking!
I have one of those "teacher brains!" So I know exactly what you mean! I don't have a degree, but I have God's degree as a Sunday school teacher and as a VBS craft teacher, LOL!
That totally counts!
After the haircut today, I am going to spend the afternoon with my daughter.
What a perfect day! How nice to get to spend time with DD especially since she has a busy schedule even over the summer.
. But the rest of my body isn't as bad as I expected which is a huge blessing.
That is fantastic! Hope that your hands feel a lot better today.
LOL-ing at tricking the kids about the pink tuna.
It sounds like you have the fishing and schedules down to a precise science. Makes sense!
We're off to the rodeo for chuckwagon races tonight. Should be fun, I've never been to one.
My only knowledge of chuckwagons is that dog-food commercial. You know the one, where the dog chases a chuckwagon into a bag of dog food?
:giggle4:
You are really doing such cool things and I love the new avi/hat!
I should have done that. Instead David and I went out to mow a trail We weren't able to start early because I had to have a blood draw at the doctor's office at 10, and I needed to fast, so no breakfast. A couple hours of mowing and I was so dehydrated all I could do was lie on the ground. It didn't feel that hot to me, in the woods next to a lake, but I guess I was wrong. I think I actually fainted when I stood up because I ended up back on the ground. David took the equipment back to the car and them walked me out, leaning on him. I spend the afternoon lying down and drinking water, iced tea, and a protein shake and I was recovered enough to run the Trails Crew meeting this evening. So it all worked out, but that's the first time that ever happened to me. Next time I won't be leaving my water bottle behind!
Oh my goodness, that sounds terrifying! I am glad you were able to get home and cool off, but no, please don't do that again! David must have been so worried about you.
I think I would be laughing the whole time I was writing that!
I was! And I can't hear Over the Mountain without flashing back to that study. I had randomly play one of the two songs and then the subject had to fill out a depressive mood scale worksheet. Collected the data and ran a statistical analysis, which showed no statistical significance in changes in mood based on the genre of music. Just a fun, tongue-in-cheek research study.

Ugh, I am tired.... I wish I didn't have to clean today but at least I don't have to think when I do it.

@AK_Tracy I had to laugh at your fish story...we used to fish when we had our smaller boats. We would catch bluefish...its a dark strong flavored fish even when we would bleed it out. I used to make a fish pasta bake and tell the kids it was tuna.LOL
I hope your hands are recovered so you can fish when you go out again.

@Terri M That sounds like a scary situation...dehydration and hunger does weird stuff to the body. Glad you are recovered and feeling good.

@bcgal00 Chuckwagon races??? sounds interesting. We had a chuckwagon dinner after our covered wagon ride on the Oregon Trail 3 years ago. I cannot imagine seeing that thing race...this will be cool to see. I hope you took pics so we can see it too. LOL Chris...up I remember that commercial now that you say that.

@faerywings sounds like the kids had a scary experience too. So glad that worked out safely. Sounds like a Woodstock event. LOL
Your potty story made me laugh.:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:
I hope you get some rest it sounds like you had a busy week...oh that's every day of every week.
@vickyday How nice to spend the afternoon with your daughter..I love being with mine too. :dancingelephant:I hear you about a hair cut my last one was in May in Florida. We head to our son's house tomorrow so I will call my ex-DIL to schedule a much needed cut and visit with her.

We set up at the marina campsite yesterday afternoon. We took a ride around, there are so many changes in the 6 years since we were here. Then we went to our old marina to walk the docks but no one was there. They will arrive today and we will be meeting a dozen or so of them for dinner:groupchat: tonight so that will be awesome. We are going to breakfast soon to our favorite shoreline breakfast spot, they make the best home fries and eggs cooked to perfection....i'm getting hungry just thinking of it.. Got to get dressed to go now...

Have a great day everyone.

All in all, I think you had a grand week....if not just a bit busy! ;). And it's not all bad if the parents are interested in another session, right? That's a good thing! Lessons learned from this session and all that! ;)
Yeah, been a long day for me, too! I was awake at 5 after tossing and turning all night and decided to just get up when Mark left at 5:30!

YAY! Have fun with your friends gathering tonight!

Good morning,
Like Chris, I've been up, seemingly, a whole day already! She and I will go to bed with the chickens tonight, LOL!

Had a great day with my daughter and granddaughter yesterday. My haircut is good! Then I went to my daughter's. She had brunch fixed of sausage gravy and biscuits. Definitely not healthy, but good! I was supposed to take the Rummikub and Qwirkle games with me to their house, but I forgot. So instead we went thrifting. She found some clothes for the girls at the first one. The next 2 stops were no longer active. The last one was a consignment shop, which I generally don't like because the prices are higher. But I did find 2 pair of capris on the clearance rack for $2.50 each! CHA CHING! By the end of that shop it was time to head back to her house and then I headed home after running to Arby's to take supper back to the house with me.

Had a rough night of tossing and turning, which is one of the reasons after being fully awake at 5, I decided to get up when Mark left at 5:30. So, I cleaned up the scrapbook mess I had out on the dining room table, putting the books back in the closet. I also had scrapbooks on the coffee table, so those got put away. I cleaned up my recliner area, Fetched my receipts, put church files away, put Bible study books back on my desk in the bedroom, swept the kitchen, dining room, living room, hall, bathroom, bedrooms. Dusted in the living room then put the dishes away and fixed my coffee and sat down in the recliner with my laptop. Posted the Color Play pages I did and made a blog post of them and the last challenge I did.

Later I will be heading over to Ilene's to spend the day with her and Jo since Mark is working again today. I think I will see if they want to go to the consignment shop Liz and I found yesterday. And eat lunch while we are out.

And that's about it for me. Tomorrow will make 7 years of marriage for Mark and I. That's one year longer than his first marriage lasted, LOL! I already have his card and we will probably go out to breakfast. Tomorrow night we are going to our friends' house. He grew up with the guy who lived down the street. She knows my granddaughter who work in the daycare where her granddaughter goes. Small world!

Have a great day!

Good Morning.

I realized that I can't take him by myself and Nicole has to walk us over! We were laughing so much- such a chaotic 15 minutes and we were *literally* right there- by the bathrooms, when it happened. So nope-- I will never jinx myself like that again!
Oh my goodness this is funny yet not. Its crazy the things we need to do and then realize we can't be alone with kids. Especially when it comes to potty things. Glad they all had fun though. Sounds like a great week.
It sounds like you have the fishing and schedules down to a precise science. Makes sense!
Its actually my honey who has it all figured out. I just get ready when he tells me.I'll ask, isn't it about time and he will then tell me all the info I dont need and what day would be best to go. :giggle4:
I had to laugh at your fish story...we used to fish when we had our smaller boats. We would catch bluefish...its a dark strong flavored fish even when we would bleed it out. I used to make a fish pasta bake and tell the kids it was tuna.LOL

Its funny how tuna comes in so many varieties and flavors :floorlaugh::floorlaugh: Whatever it takes to get the kids to eat it.
They will arrive today and we will be meeting a dozen or so of them for dinner:groupchat: tonight so that will be awesome.
This will be so much fun!!! I foresee a long dinner with lots of food and laughter. Was it sad touring the marina and seeing all the changes? Sometimes its so hard for me to drive through where I grew up and see how huge it has become.
Had a great day with my daughter and granddaughter yesterday. My haircut is good!
Love the photo and your cut is super cute. Sounds like you had a fun day with family.
Tomorrow will make 7 years of marriage for Mark and I.
Congratulations!!

Not much happening here. Body 90% back to normal. Just a touch of numbness when I type but soon that will go away as I stretch through the day and loosen up the shoulders. Today is boring, laundry and groceries. Hope you all have a. wonderful day and relaxing afternoons.
