I am a very tired, but happy and proud Mama Faery today. I wish that grad ceremonies weren't so *boring* other than the few minutes you see your own kid- but alas... :D
We had to wait for an hour or so for everything to start and I leaned over to Scott and said wistfully that I really was sad that we didn't get to see him and Caitlyn walk at their undergrad ceremony in 2020. (They graduated from the same college in May 2020 but everything was canceled because of Covid) After an hour or so of listening to speeches and names being called- I leaned back over and said- nope, I am glad that we didn't have to sit through that one too LOL
I have no idea how any of the pictures came out since I borrowed Caitlyn's DSLR and while it is basically the same camera as mine, Canons, mine is *old.* I know they're going to be all "zoom flat," at least the ones I took from the bleachers. But it will be nice to see her. She decorated her cap with white/burgundy flowers to match the robe so it was easy to find her in the crowd.

Today is going to be a recuperate day but now I am thinking I might want to go to the local garden center. I am sort of mad at myself, everything is going to be picked over but there wasn't much time when the weather was decent. Now it is going into the 90s the next few days. SMH- the weather is *weird.* Gary has to get AC into the windows today. And yes- it was literally only a few days ago I was taking the plastic off of the windows from the winter.

Have a fab Friday!

@BrightEyes So sorry to hear that there is more smoke and fires. How was your temp yesterday, stayed lower? Good idea for a PJ day! Thanks for the prayers for my mom, very appreciated!! She has an appt with her regular cardiologist today so maybe she will give me an update after that. She called Caitlyn last night and Cait said she sounded good.

@taxed4ever *fingers crossed that the roof is A-OK and no damage from the branches*What a scary scene to see the trees and branches flying! Go easy picking all of them up in the yard. Scott had a field trip to lead at the Ecology Center yesterday and couldn't get into the place by the main road because of downed wires. Everything is so odd lately.
Thx for liking my FS LOs. I think it is going to be really fun and push me to be more creative. :)

@Cherylndesigns Re: my dad-- right?? Not sure who I am more aggravated with, my dad dropping that and not explaining or my mom for telling him not to tell us. I can't even ask my brother if he knows anything. grrrrrr
My cute little black labels came today - I can't wait to play with my Ball jars. LMBO I'm SO lame. Of course, you like them too - my sister from another mother. There's no BWAHAHA emoji.
LOL!!!!!!! We can be lame together!!! Last week I bought little chalkboard labels on little picks to label the vegan food for the party :D
So exciting that Chuck is getting to know and love your herb-baboes. Will they call him Dad? :p
Gary could care less about my plants but I have Scott to share that joy with me. One of his friends and I are Friends on FB and 99.9999% of the things they post, I LMBO over. the two of them graduated together- environmental science dorks- and they have the exact same off the wall sense of humor as Scott does.
That is too bad that Carey is heading home, hope she comes back soon, she sounds like a trip!

hugs!

Morning all. Hope it is a good day for everyone. Made a mistake last night... I left the overhead fan going when I went to sleep - and woke up early because I was cold! Not quite ready to have the fan going all night yet.

Yesterday's plans got changed and ended up not being a PJ day after all. For the past few weeks, I have been looking on-line for a shoe stand to put in the empty space in the bedroom console where the small TV used to be. I wanted to use it for more book storage. Almost fell out of my chair when I checked Lowe's (for the 4th time) and they had the shoe stand...and it came in Espresso Brown! They only had 2 in stock so that made it easy to decide to get dressed and head over there ASAP. Decided to buy 2 sets in case both would fit into the space. Also found some Lily bulbs! Put 1 stand together and put it in place. Measured and realized that 2 would not fit... so will return the other one. Then came the 'fun??' but challenging part of figuring out which books to put in there. I like to group the books by authors so ended up moving a bunch of them around from 2 different bookcases to the TV console space. And that lead to moving books from 2 bookcases to the spaces where I had moved books to the TV console. And while I was doing that, I started listing the books so I can eventually get my book inventory done. And I discovered I have several duplicates so will be sharing those with family/friends.

Here is the before and after photos. Yes, that is the old 55" TV I had moved into the Bedroom.
The shelves are wide enough that I could stack the (paperback) books 2 deep by 3 wide.
The lower shelf and to the side have the Ira Johannsen books, middle is Danelle Steel and the top is Catherine Coulter.

I am still in the process of sorting books - you can see some of them on the floor in front of the main bookcase. I have a 2nd bookcase the same size just to the right of the main one and a smaller one just outside in the hallway. Been moving books from one bookcase to another one to get each author's books together. This will be an on-going project until I get the books sorted and placed in bookcases. And, yes... I do re-read my books. It is like visiting with old friends. LOL

BTW, my temperature was normal all day yesterday so think I have weathered the worse of it from the booster. Arm is still sore so will take OTC for another day. Going to get another cup of coffee - then take my shower and get dressed. Will try to get back to do more personals later today. CYL

Good Morning everyone! A beautiful sunny day for us and the lake is like glass, so no wind thank goodness! My mouth is a bit sore this morning, but nothing that a couple of Advil won't fix. My tooth extraction went well and I was in and out of the dentist in less than an hour. Not allowed to do anything too strenuous for a day or two, so no clean up of the yard will get done until at least Sunday. That's ok because my DH needs to get all the roof and gutters cleaned out anyway and there will be more stuff to clean up after that job is done. We hope to be able to put the patio set up on the upper deck this weekend too. Normally that job would have been done a few weeks ago, but the weather just has not been cooperating. It will be another busy weekend for us. So I spent the afternoon just taking it easy after my dentist visit and watched a movie on Disney +. The Eternals, it was good but now I have to see if I can watch "The Dark Knight" the spinoff of the Eternals. I had to ask Isaac about it, he knows all of the characters from the Marvel movies LOL. He thought it was pretty cool that his old Grandma likes those movies.

@faerywings - I saw the photos on facebook of the grad ceremony. They turned out great! Congratulations to your beautiful daughter! Sorry you had to sit through all of the boring stuff though. Sure hope that the plants are not all picked over. I need to get a few things too, hopefully there is still a good selection at our local nursery. I always look for petunias for my front porch baskets, but I try to find the proven winner ones as they don't need to be deadheaded all the time. How crazy that you are now in the really warm temps and have to get the AC going! Heather and Jonah are getting central air this summer, but have had to put in the window unit for now, no telling how long it will take to get the installation done. Hopefully sooner than later for them. It get so darn hot and humid where they are. YUCK! Sure hope your Mom lets you in on her secrets, glad to hear that she sounded good when she talked to Caitlyn though.

@BrightEyes - My goodness you have been a very busy lady! It will be so nice to have your collection of books all organized! Great that you can share the duplicates with family and friends! You could open your own book store with that collection LOL.
Great shopping with the shoe stands, nice that you could get two of them! Glad to hear that your temperature is back to normal. Hope your arm feels better soon too!

@Cherylndesigns - The power of the wind is amazing, hope that you can get the rest of the clean up done on your property and that is just crazy that the whole pond got reconfigured because of the storm! Hopefully you don't get another one come through your area! So sweet that your DH found that lavender plant for you! I love coleus I usually have a big planter with lots of different coleus on my front porch. They do so well in that shady area.

Ok I am in need of a second cup of coffee and then should start rinsing my mouth with salt water. Hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

Good morning ladies. Got the microwave installed yesterday afternoon....finally. So 7 wks later...microwave is here and working. Today I'm going to pop out for more velvet hangers. I am so close to finishing up my dressing room. Then I need to sort thru tax and office stuff, need to go thru the bins of basement/office stuff, I think there are about 6 bins to check out in the garage.

Later I'll get some scrapping done and take the dogs to the park. I want to get some recipes into my kitchen binder now that I am back to keto. I'm down 8 lbs so it is working.

I have to cut this short. Remi is whining at the door, I know what that means :)

Good afternoon!! I've been outside working again. I'm on a mission now. The girls came down about 10 and stayed til noon, then I headed right out. I still need to plant a few things, but it's supposed to rain tonight and I hope it will make the ground soft so I can dig holes. I got everything planted except the big plants - Carey planted my coleus yesterday - I had an empty pot in the garden that I needed to fill, so we put it in there. Trudy @taxed4ever they are SO pretty - the one I got is huge and like a deep velvety purple, edged in green. I only had room for it, but it looks pretty. I bought an asparagus fern too and had planned on putting them in the same pot but I might switch it out no room left. They both like shade, so they're in the front. I put the 2 daisy plants and the 2 Salvia on the porch, by the front door. Oh, Trudy @taxed4ever our Lowe's was well stocked - we were really surprised. Our local family owned nursery was not. We went there first and I did get my Coleus and my asparagus fern there. Everything else came from Lowe's.

Chris @faeryI I saw your pictures on FB too - it was early this am and I was awake because Adrienne called, and I was afraid to try to comment because I didn't have my glasses on - I was laying in bed. BWAHAHA. I could tell that the pictures are wonderful and I promise to go back. Yes, Carey is great - I've really enjoyed her company the last few days. Working outside with her was so much fun. I mentioned in the last paragraph that she planted my Coleus. She has NEVER planted a plant before and was so nervous. I said "just dig a hole and plop it in" she wasn't sure how to get the plant out of the pot and then freaked out at all the roots. LMBO - I told her they were hardy and she couldn't hurt it. She was so excited when she got that big thing in the pot. I couldn't believe she had never planted anything. I guess they have landscapers that do everything. That's great, but I still can't believe she's never done it before. She says she has a black thumb and even kills what the landscapers plant - I knew you'd get a chuckle out of that.

She wanted to look at all the herbs again today - she's pretty fascinated with them and wants to do a garden of her own. Isn't that a hoot that Chuck recognized that Lavender plant? It was just hanging out all by itself among a bunch of random plants. It was a little beat up and he asked if I wanted it. Yes - of course - it was the only one at Lowe's. It looks SO much better today - TLC. He came out today to see how it was doing.

I told you that Carey "lived" with us a lot in jr high and hs. She remembers the funniest things. She said "Oh, you have those same flowers that you always used to have"!. She was talking about my Day Lilies. It was SO sweet. She said the other day that she still remembers how clean our house was and how good it smelled. She's a funny girl. I will miss her - they leave tonight for the Arkansas airport for a 7 AM flight to Detroit. Adrienne and Ava are going to The D for a long weekend. They asked me to go, but I still don't want to fly. I'd love to see the baby, though. Adrienne's trying to get her here by fall. We FaceTime her and she's just starting to act like she knows we're somebody "she's supposed to know". Haha

I'm such a squirrel today. #dk#crazy

I can't wait to see the pictures of your little blackboard picks - be sure to take some for your sister.

Kay @BrightEyes I' so happy that the worse is over after your booster. How wonderful that you found the shelving for your books. They really look nice and what a good feeling that must be!

I'm going to scoot - I've been waiting for a little shade to go back out. It's SO hot today and I needed to come in and take a cool down break.

XOXO to ALL
