I am going to make this super quick, and will be back later with personals. I am driving Cait and the two babies up to the vet this morning for their surgeries. She is going to doing lots of driving back and forth today. The vet is a half-hour from here and the rats need to be there by 8.30. Then she has a dentist appt at 10.30- that is 10 minutes *past* the vet. They will not be ready to come back home until 1-2 pm typically so that means she will have an hour or so break and then head back up to where she already was twice. I tend to go with her to the vet so she doesn't worry about them sliding around in the cage especially on all of the windy roads.

My mom is so excited that my brother and I are getting vaccinated soon. She asked how she is going to choose who to hug first, should she split herself in half? I joked -- which kid gives you better hugs? (Duh!! That would be me!!!)
I spent more time with Scott's taxes, then he and Gary got on the phone with my FIL for more advice. Another 2 hours later, we think we have it figured out. I am hoping to finish them today. If not, Scott will have to bring them to H&R Block or whatever. While they were messing around on my computer I made a homemade apple pie and chicken stuffed with asparagus and mozzarella for dinner. That means I don't have to cook tonight since I cooked "good" two nights in a row.

Can I get some good thoughts for Leah today? She is taking her certification test for Social Work so that she can start counseling legally. She is nervous but I know that she knows her stuff. My niece passed her Teaching Certification Test last week, I feel surround by super-smart people.

Sending more good thoughts to Rae and Remi, I can't stop thinking about them. :(
Better throw some "real" clothes on for the ride...

xoxo

I am back home and showered and am on my second load of laundry and emptied the dishwasher. I deserve some time to sit here. A lot of time since the next thing I need to do is deal with the taxes. Third day is the charm, I hope! The weather here is horrible. It is sunny (whew) but bitterly cold and windy. 19*F with a Real Feel of 15*. Brutal.
Cait and I had a nice time chatting on the ride Tom, the crush, seems very nice and caring and makes her happy and that makes me happy. Maybe that will balance out the frustrations I am gonna have with the taxes. ;)

Congrats @LSlycord !! *happy dancing together* I know, isn't it crazy how exciting it is! I am already thinking about maybe starting to clean again, I have no problem cleaning the houses if the people are not there/unvax'd or there and vax'd. Both families are high-risk themselves so it will be up to them. But yay!

@taxed4ever I know, I am heartbroken for Rae right now and still can't get it out of my mind. I am begging the Universe along with you. I forgot that your Sadie and my niece share a birthday. Julia turned 23- how does this happen? She is still in quarantine but my BFF decided that they were going to celebrate with cake and balloons with masks mostly on and far away. Their house is big enough to do that. Tell Happy Birthday to Sadie from us!
I hope that Canada is able to get the vaccines out faster so you won't have to wait too much longer. I bet the first thing you are going to do is get on a plane and visit your kids as soon as the Drs say it is ok!

@bcgal00 I am sending you non-stop hugs. I cannot imagine going through everything that you and your family have gone through. It is too much for anyone to bear. I hope that Remi improves and gets stronger every moment of every day. Please take good care of yourself too, Please talk to J and D, or me or any of us here if you need someone not living this s*** with you. ((((((hugs))))

@BrightEyes Kay- Maybe I am just emotionally wrung out from life, but the story of the lost old men really tore at my heart. I am happy that you were able to get everything done that you needed to, hope that the storm fizzled out and that you didn't lose power at all.

@Cherylndesigns I am relieved it isn't just me on that emotional rollercoaster. But ITA, we have to share the good and the bad- that is what makes us human.
The conversations you must have with Daisy must be funny! I know that talking to W is usually full of insults and ones with J are begging her to stop being a stubborn brick of a dog. I am attaching a photo of her guarding our driving on the pile of snow. This pile is *much* smaller than it was and she is a 70 lb Pittie mix, so you can see how much we got and still have. She is so silly, terrified of everything but has to make sure that the squirrels don't get too close.
I need to check out the party planning! I am so excited about it!

@felis I hear you, it has been a long year of tension and anxiety. You are going to be so happy when you get to be out and about and listening to music again! (just promise me you will wait until it is safe, OK?) I would trade my weather with yours and I would garden for you if I could :p

@nancyr Congrats on seeing the flowers!! I can't wait until I see the ground. haha! (I am really dreading having to clean up all of the dog poop though, I haven't been able to scoop the lawn in months. Yuck!!)
Oh no! Poor Luther, I wonder why little white dogs bother him so much. What a relief that they were just barking, mostly!

BRB!

My mom called so I had to chat with her a bit. She likes to talk. No idea where *I* get it from, yannow? :D
Congrats to your DH!! Hope the shot is easy for him too.

Better finish up now that it is almost noon. Eep.

Morning ladies... Rainy and foggy day today, that's ok I will just be staying at home today. Yesterday's swim was another interesting one as I started my swim about 5mins into it, one of the lifeguards asked if could move to another lane. Why?? Because some guy booked the whole lane to himself!!! Really?? I did not think you could do that. Apparently if you pay for both spots you can. I was furious, that is so unfair to others who are on the waiting list to get into the pool. My DH told me I should write a letter to the Mayor and City Council and voice my displeasure, I think that I will. The pool is there for all to enjoy, not just a chosen few who can afford to buy up a lane for themselves. Sure I would love to have the lane all to myself too, but how unfair to those who have been waiting so long for a chance to get some exercise in our beautiful facility! GRRRRR!! Ok enough ranting LOL. I did get a page completed for the Storybook/Fantasy challenge yesterday and so I need to get that posted today. I will work on a couple more birthday cards today also and hopefully if the rain lets up I can get out for a walk.

@faerywings - Hope the surgery went well for the rats today! Sounds like Cait will be having a busy day! You should sit in the window and soak up the sunshine, perhaps there is a bit of warmth in the sun for you. Nice that Cait is so happy with her guy, he sounds like a great young man! Yes your parents must be so happy that you can get your vaccine soon! Oh those hugs are going to feel so good!! Good luck with getting Scotts taxes done, hope he does not have to drop them off to H&R Block! Yes I can't stop thinking about Rae and her family and of course Remi. Sure hope that she pulls through, the not knowing is torture. So not fair what they have been through over the past couple of years!!

Well I best get in the shower and get back here to post my layout. Have a nice Friday everyone! Talk to you all later!

The world seems so off kilter, I mean more than it was already. Can't not think about Rae and Remi, then read Trudy's learning of the strange lane reservation. And so on.

Here things are pretty much the same old, but the sun is shining though it's still cold. I'm going to the library this afternoon and maybe we'll see some birds while we're out. The thing I needed to do before March and didn't probably won't go out until Monday which means the program tomorrow will not get an extra mention to get folks signed up. I really blew it with that, but it will still go out and have later events as well as the feature part. It's a newsletter type thing with a feature of a manuscript collection followed by our group's coming events. I put it together, but the official person for communications at the society does the final version and schedules the email of it.

Chris, congrats on the vax appts!! Between that and spring really coming you are going to have some better days ahead. Sure hope you get the tax thing done without H&R Block. Love the photo of J. Pretty sure Leah is like Cait and really doesn't need to worry about doing well, but good thoughts anyway.

Trudy, Happy belated to your Sadie. Our Sadie (great niece) is only 8 as of late January. Sorry you got bumped over at the pool. How weird to book not only a whole lane, but a specific one. Hope your day is better today.

Cheryl, loving your dictator stories and the dogs. Still wishing wi-fi relief for you!! Makes me crazy just reading your troubles with(out) it.

Felis, I have the impression your mother is the sort to just take the abuse over mask wearing and feel bad about it rather than tell others off about it. Safer I'm sure, but they should put a sock in it!

Nancy, if that's how little white dogs treat Luther, I'm with him on not liking them. Could the yellow flowers be winter aconite? A nearby house here has some and they bloom even before the snowdrops. Minutes ago we had a male House Finch at the feeder, the first since they drifted away over the winter. We still haven't seen a Grackle in the neighborhood though which is our sure avian sign of spring.

Wishing you all a good day.

Well, another morning spend running errands. Got the notice that my taxes were done and I could pick them up. So across town again today. The good news is that I am getting a refund from both Federal and State.... and no need to do estimated taxes this year (2021)!!! Then over to Senior Citizen Center to drop off the ink cartridges and some books for their library. The guy there said that if things keep improving the center may be able to open on a limited basis soon. Will have to call and make an appointment to visit the library but I will be willing to do that. And then stopped off at the public library to pick up my on hold book. So glad to get back home and get off my feet. My left foot that I had a stress fracture on back in Nov 2019 is giving me fits... been aching a lot this past couple of weeks. Guess the fronts going through plus being up on my feet more than usual had a lot to do with that. Thank goodness the wind isn't as bad today as yesterday and no power outages after all.

Yes, Chris... it made me sad to see the older men looking a bit lost and bewildered... brought tears to my eyes, too. So many families have gone through so much this past year but it looks like a bit of light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccines finally becoming more available. Boy, talk about mixed up... my doctor's appt is on Tuesday and the 2nd vaccine shot is on Thursday. For some reason I was thinking it was the other way around. Am due for my GI doc's appointment but am going to put it off until next month.

Trudy, I agree with you about that guy booking both slots just because he could afford to do that when there is a waiting list for those slots... and then to ask you to move over a lane!!! That is terrible. I would be complaining loudly, too.

Oh, Nancy... how scary that must have been for you and Luther! Glad that no one got hurt but it was still a scare. Too bad you have to walk him past where those dogs are.

Got to get my foot up and take some pain meds for it. CYL

Good afternoon my lovelies. Well, my hotspot is really acting up today. I tried to look at your picture @faerywings Chris and after I looked at it (It's SO cute, BTW) when I tried to get back to the thread, it kicked me off. Then I had to jump through hoops to get back here. It's terribly exhausting! I can't believe how much more time I'll have if I ever get real wifi. I keep reminding myself that I don't need it to work in Photoshop. I just need it to upload anything FROM PS. UGH

Chris @faerywings sounds like you and Cait have a very busy day planned and what a cute story about your mom. That's so awesome that you and your brother are both getting the vaccines.

@taxed4ever Trudy - I got SO ticked off when I read about that man reserving the lanes!! I'm SO tired of the people with money getting all of the advantages. It's always been that way, it just seems like it's worse now. (Chris @faerywings here I go again - my emotions all over the place!!)

Cici The Dictator is still hanging in there - it's not easy with a 16 yo who drives and a 15 yo who thinks she's 25! My DD called from Michigan today to see if they were behaving themselves. I told her they were and most importantly, they're staying in touch via the group chat. I just want to hear from them periodically. Like I said, they come over to eat.

Nancy, how scary for you and Luther.

Kay, get that foot up! I broke my left foot well over 10 years ago and it comes back to bite me periodically. Glad you got your taxes done and that you're getting money back.

Thinking of Rae and sending cyber hugs.

Smooches and group hug to ALL.

Hello girls!
I'm acting today, as if the time not exist, so slow and lazy. So I'm not happy neither by quality nor by quantity of finished tasks today! Really don't know what to share till Rae deal with such a hard situation, sounds inappropriate to share funny pet stories. But out of that today was a regular day, just work and chores.

Nancy, omg, the barking story sounds scary! Yes the small dogs loves to argue with bigger, this is oddity! But Luther is so gentle!

Chris, hope everything is OK with the rats! Good luck for Leah, but I'm sure she will be excellent on the test! Oh, I'd love to switch the weather with you! I'm so not ready for this and the spring fatigue! See how much your dog enjoy the 'mountain' of snow, it looks like lots of fun! Oh, it would be lovely finally to be with your family! LOL, don't worry, even before I hated to be in crowd, I don't hurry to get back at the real life! But festivals and gigs mean that new music will be released for them, which is what really excites me!

Trudy, your husband is absolutely right! You definitely should write a letter and post it on the social media too! If you have FB of the town and the pool! It's so unfair!

Jean, hope you will be able to enjoy the events, even with these confusions in your and the final variant!
My mom shouldn't even go on the Liberation Day's ceremony, but they obliged her from work, as she is from the vaccinated. I don't want to be political, but so many things are wrong in this situation!

Cheryl, in teen age life is so exciting, can imagine lots of temptations! LOL!
Ouch! To be kicked off the system sounds lots of frustration! I'm a bit worried what you will have to do when the O party start?

Kay, it's a great news about the taxes and pay back! Treat yourself with special gift!
