th

(even if it is only 15*F right now) because.....
it is only 17 more days until Spring!

Yeah, I needed that extra bit of color-oomph this morning :D I am not going to complain about how cold it is, I am only focusing on the sunshine. The sun is getting stronger and I really could have used sunglasses when I was driving yesterday. It was quite bright and cheerful. I can't wait until Sunday when it is in the 50-60* range.
It is my gorgeous, smart, and fantastic niece's b-day today. She is 24. When did I get so old to have a 24 yo niece? LOL

In case you were all wondering, I made chicken nuggets and french fries along with some leftovers for dinner last night. It was *totally* worth me losing sleep over. Haha!! My mom made meatloaf for Gary and Scott and they will have that tonight although I will have to think of something for me and Caitlyn. My mom is visiting today and she promised that she won't complain about my dad. Don't waste your money taking bets on that, I will guarantee that she will at least once. LOL

HAGD dear Os!!

72*??? My goodness, that must have felt amazing!! It is that kind of day that I loved when I was young, drove with the windows down and blasted the music.
Love the haircut, you look fantastic. Thx for the measurement for sage. I will eat turkey meatloaf occasionally, I bet that it would taste good in that too.

@taxed4ever How nice that you were able to get out and walk a while, did your hands and feet stay warm enough? My "fresh air exercise" yesterday was scooping the dog poop in the places where the snow/ice had melted. My hands were frozen after that but it had to get done.
That is so weird that the pool is having such a hard time getting the furnace fixed. I hope that it starts working soon but at least you know that you will be able to walk and hike some more if the weather holds.

@Cherylndesigns All I want in the world is warm weather and a decent night's sleep. Between you and kay- you are killin' me! GAH!!!~
JK, what I really want first is world peace, then after that, I will take the warmth and sleep. I don't ask for much *winks*
That is really neat that your cleaning person is an herbalist. I used to use a lot more herbs before I got sick and ended up having to pharmaceuticals instead. I would love to get back into that someday. Scott would do a lot of foraging, I should ask him to take me around.
I hear you- my hair is the same way, too curly to keep it short.

@bcgal00 glad that you're taking care of your back. Did Remi have fun at the park? How is Taz doing with the chaos in your house? Does he sense that something is up?

Hugs!!

@faerywings Hey! I have a nephew that is 46 LOL

Work yesterday was ok, but I was sooo tired. Fell asleep before 10 pm last night, that doesn't happen that often. Was punished by waking up at 3 am. Bedroom was so HOT, I thought I would go crazy. Went downstairs and manage to go back to sleep on the sofa, and slept til 9am.

Trying to get into some kind of Friday mood, but Urban is working tomorrow, so I guess the proper weekend feeling won't come until tomorrow afternoon. I guess we'll just have a simple dinner and watch some TV tonight, and save the candy night til tomorrow.

Then the situation in Europe is really #%%#ing with my brain. I try to create, and I do make something that looks like a layout ... but I can't really find the happiness in it. It's mainly some sort of auto pilot that's creating.

Don't know if it was shown on international news, but the day before yesterday, 4 Russian military planes entered Swedish air space, at the same time as the Swedish and the Finnish defense ministers was meeting at a joint military exercise here in Sweden. I mean, we are more or less used to their submarines being in our archipelago, but for them to do this right now ... All my childhood fears are manifesting themselves, Russia going crazy & fires at nuclear power plants. All that's missing right now is the invasion of triffids.

Original-Triffid_01.jpg

Those of you who are in the UK, let me know if you hear some strange clicking sounds from your gardens!!!

I have one more kit that I downloaded before I got sick that I need to create a layout with. After that I will download kits from our new designers and play with. So excited about this! Happy dance!

Real quick in and out this morning. The library is having their quarterly book sale so I am rushing to get a quick shower and then off to see what DVDs they have. Thanks for all the kind words about the new hair cut. Must admit that I really like the ease of it again.

Chris, thought you might need the sage measurements for the meat loaf. Bet it would perk up a ground turkey meatloaf, too.

Eva, I can't imagine how stressful it is for those living in Europe right now. <<< hugs >>>

Got to run. Will be back later for personals.

Morning ladies... I have to be quick in here today also. We are shortly headed out the door and hitting a few places in Victoria today. Costco of course and then some shopping for new gardening equipment. A stop at Micheals and hopefully home shortly after lunch. Gotta get a small bit to eat and then we are outta here!! Sending you all well wishes and warmer sunny skies today! Hope to catch up with you all either later today or tomorrow. Waving!! (I miss my waving emoji!).

Hello! Nice place you have here ;-) One of the things I love about it (aside from lots of glorious eye candy in the gallery!) is the active community. Like lots of us, I live pretty much online these days (especially since most of my 'IRL' work went 'poof' early in the pandemic!) and it seems to me that in this world we all need to nurture more genuine connections.

So I can't promise to be here everyday but I hope you will save a seat for me when I can :)

For those who don't know, I live in New Zealand with my DH and my youngest (nearly 20 :eek::eek:). Like her older sister, who lives nearby, she is complicated but fabulous and currently rocking it at university.

I am going to be busy this weekend uploading layouts to the gallery and generally settling in :) . I am also going to be working on the garden of my house, which I am trying to sell .... in the middle of a pandemic (we have our belated Covid surge going on here - which means I'm not doing the usual yoga and dancing which are the highlights of most weekends).

I'll also be trying to distract myself from what's going on in Europe (which is where I am originally from - Darlington up in the north of England). Thinking of those like @tanteva for whom it is literally close to home :-(

Geographically, I'm not super close. I think it's about a 2 hr flight from here, but it sure feels close. And Russia sure is closer! It's only Finland between us. (Nothing negative about Finland, but it's a tiny country. LOL) But in a way it feels like the war is closer. We are part of EU, and even if we are not members of NATO, our minister is there on the meetings right now. And, as I told in a thread earlier this week, Sweden did send military supplies to Ukraine - even weapons. That's not something we've done since 1939. (Sweden has not been part of any war since 1814). It's a very strange time we're living in.

Well, I am back and all my errands done!!! Whoo-whee... so glad I went to the sale at the library. Came home with 20 DVDs (movies) that I added to my stash. Actually it was about 37 movies as several were multi-movies on 1 DVD. And several were 'Designer's Cut Special' version - which I really enjoy. This afternoon will be spent adding them to the DVD inventory and printing it out. So glad I took the inventory with me as I picked up 10 other DVDs that I already had!! I did buy a repeat one as the one I have is a BluRay version and is a PITA to remember how to set up the TV for the BluRay player. At a $1, I figured it was worth buying another one. One fab find was "Cats"... the Broadway version!!! I love a lot of the music in it - and have only seen a few 'out takes' from it. And I came home with 3 'free' books. I will read them then pass them along to others. I took the pants back and was able to find 2 pair in the right size.... and one was in the cranberry color I wanted. So well worth my time this morning.

@Lynn Grieveson So glad to see you popping in our little corner of OScraps!!! WELCOME!!! So glad that you have come 'out from under the covers' and getting your shop and gallery set up. My son and his wife traveled to New Zealand a couple of years ago... and loved visiting there. He was gracious enough to share their photos with me - so you may see a few popping up in layouts in the gallery.

@taxed4ever Sounds like you have a busy day and hope you find all that you need. Such a PITA that they can't fix the boiler at the pool... Maybe the weather will turn warm enough you can get in some nice long walks/hides to make up for missing the lap swims.

@Cherylndesigns I wish I had your curly hair... mine is baby-fine and straight so glad I got a style I can deal with easily. DH had super curly hair... and he kept his hair cut short to avoid dealing with all the curls. 2 of our daughters have the curly hair so understand what a challenge it is to find a hair style/cut that works. Has the cooler weather hit your area?? We were suppose to have some rain and cooler temps today... but no rain and it is in the 60's. Unfortunately the winds are picking up and the clouds are moving in so guess it was later arriving. I like your 'patch of weeds garden'... can't wait to see it when all those sunflower seeds bloom! BTW, a tip of the hat to you for telling me about having the Caps Lock on can affect several of the tools in PSE... especially the brushes, eraser, etc. Yep... had it on and couldn't see the size of the brush... again! o_O;)

BTW, gals... as Chris said... check out Karen Schultz's Tips and Tricks challenge this month. I had never realized there was a color replacement brush in Ps and PSE... it was lots of fun to play around with... Now I know how to change colors on small areas and add different shades of the colors to an area. I can see this is going to be a great tool to have in the tool chest.

Time to grab some lunch... then go to work on the DVD inventory. CYL

Good afternoon my lovely OOOOO's,

Lynn @Lynn Grieveson how wonderful to see you in here - I'm SO happy you're here at The O!

Kay @BrightEyes sounds like you made a haul at the library! You're very welcome about the Caps Lock thing - I went insane trying to figure out why my brushes weren't working. It's crazy what that little function messes up. We all have curly hair, to some degree - my sisters and brother all have it, but our kids kind of got a good mix. Hair that curls easily, but doesn't turn to frizz like ours does. I pretty much just have to let mine go and do it's thing. Yes, the cooler weather is on the way - I think by Sunday - not a whole lot of rain, but some and way cooler. We've sure enjoyed the hot days, though.

Eva @tanteva I'm sure you're getting worried - that nuclear power hit makes the whole world freaked out!

Trudy @taxed4ever have fun shopping today. We have to drive for at least an hour to get that kind of shopping. Adrienne and Roger went to Tulsa yesterday and she got into Hobby Lobby.

Chris @faerywings I hate to tell you this.......................get ready........................I woke up at 6 AM, took 2 Tylenols, let the cat in and went back to bed. I woke up at 10:00! Please don't throw rotten tomatoes at me. J/K - I couldn't believe it!!! It must be all the sunshine I've been soaking up, I don't know but it felt amazing. Yes, Scott could forage for you - I'm sure he could find all types of herbs - I know they're growing wild all over our property. Casey (HC) forages on the property a lot. Ava goes into the woods (not me unless I'm dressed for it) and she found Mullein all over the place. She dug up some starts for me. Casey says that's really hard to buy right now. I found wild mustard growing out in my yard, by the woods.

Chuck drew up some really neat plans for us to put a new garden at the side of the house (in front of my precious weed garden). I want to grow some big, invasive plants and we've decided to make a brand new garden.

Lynn @Lynn Grieveson stop in when you can, girl! We're pretty chatty and would love to see you when you have the time.

The girls are coming over in an hour or so - and the sun is calling me, in the meantime. Hugs to all.

Good morning ladies. I have been busy packing and purging. Have errands to run and am taking another 5 boxes to charity this afternoon. I can't believe how much stuff we have in this house. It seems endless. I think we've done 3 trips to the dump and will do at least 1 or 2 more before the move in 3 wks. I booked the cleaning service and the carpet cleaners. Other than transferring the utilities to the new address, all the important stuff is now taken care of. Whew. It felt good to get my hair cut yesterday and I liked the woman who cut my hair which I was nervous about because my regular hairdresser is away for a few months for surgery.

@faerywings Taz is fine with all the activity with packing up but Remi is the one who is out of sorts b/c of the change in schedule. She's been more barky and I've had to start crating her for a bit each day to make sure she gets a few naps in b/c she spends so much time following me around, she won't lay down like she normally would when I would be working in my office for hours each day.

@taxed4ever Have fun shopping today.

@BrightEyes Hope you find some good DVDs.

@Lynn Grieveson Good to see you in here Lynn. Hope your home sells quickly when the time comes. Ours sure did. I think you know my situation with Bailey passing and then putting our house up for sale. It sold in 4 days and we move in 3 weeks. I don't have time to pretty up the garden for the new owners but its not overgrown or too messy so I don't have to worry about it.

It is bittersweet to feed the birds in the morning now, knowing that I will be leaving them soon. I will definitely miss them.

I'm going to get going now, lots to do today. Have a good day everyone.

@bcgal00 I was really glad when I saw that your home sold so quickly. One less stressful thing out the way. Thinking of you with the move though ... always exhausting!

I'm back from my shopping trip and OMG it was expensive!! The price of everything is just sky rocketing! Especially gas! It will mean that I won't be doing too many hikes that are really far from where we live :(. We got everything on our list and now I am getting a Keto Pizza ready for supper tonight, Yummmm!!

@faerywings - How nice that your Mom is visiting with you today! I won't place any bets on her not complaining about your Dad LOL. I hope you have a lovely time with her!

@tanteva - Oh gosh that is scary that the Military planes were in your air space ! Things are really getting messy for all those in Ukraine!! I hope that you can find some happiness in the new layouts that you do today!

@BrightEyes - Wow thats a great stash of DVD's you got! That should keep you busy for a while LOL. You really did have an awesome shopping day! I did not get anything as exciting as you did, mostly groceries darn it!

@Cherylndesigns - Our Costco is almost an hours drive from where we live, sure wish they would build one in our area, there sure are enough people living here now to warrant one! How nice that you are getting a new garden! Will you plant raspberries? I have always wanted a raspberry patch! Or will you plant some veggies? Perhaps a flower garden?

@bcgal00 - Isn't it amazing how much stuff we acquire when we have lived in a house for a long time! I am not looking forward to the day when we will have to down size and get rid of all the crap we have in our crawl space! Sounds like you have everything all taken care of though. Remember to take care of your back please! Hopefully you will have a bunch of new kinds of birds to feed in your brand new backyard!

@Lynn Grieveson - How nice to see you here in the Daily O's! No pressure to be here everyday though we are pretty laid back about that! Just happy to hear from you when you can be here! We will save a seat for you! I am drooling over your "Kindness Changes Everything Collection"!! Can't wait to find the time to play! Hope all is well in New Zealand! Our neighbour across the street has a daughter that moved to New Zealand a couple of years ago, now sure exactly what part though I will have to ask her next time I see her.

Ok I have to get the pizza toppings on our pizza for supper tonight and then I think it might be wine O'clock!! It is such an nice afternoon that we should be able to sit out on our furniture on the front porch and watch the world go by as we sip wine! Wish the rest of the world could do the same!

News for Felis @felis, yesterday DH cut back the poinsettia. Looks ugly now but already had bits of new green starting. Did my art class yesterday and did research at the historical society today. Zoom meeting in the morning. Brought home from the library a season (6 discs) of Dr. Who with David Tennant. We started on it last night.

Chris @faerywings love the spring image today! But I'm liking them all, even the springs last weekend. After taking the pictures I shared here we got more snow (light) but those are plants that don't mind.

Eva @tanteva your mention of childhood fears regarding the world situation reminds me of a recent cartoon where a child asks an older adult what the cold war was like and got the reply that he was about to find out. NOT funny. I hope I don't need to be looking out for that thing in my yard? Glad you survived the day at work and the bother of getting there and back. Sorry it made you tired. Enjoy the Friday night even if you do it on Saturday.

Lynn @Lynn Grieveson I'm sure I'll be getting to know your designs and you. Glad to see you here at the O.

Happy weekend all.

Ducking in for a quick reply.

Trudy @taxed4ever wow you have to drive that far, too. We probably won't get anything like Costco closer to us, unfortunately. We'll just have to settle for Walmart. I'm planning to plant babies breath for one thing. It's very invasive and I need space for it - there are some other flowers that I want to plant, too. I'd love to have a "cutting garden" definitely Delphinium, different kinds of daisies (mum family) and more lillies. I have some plants in the front gardens that need to be separated, too. We're going to have a family garden - hopefully by next year, and it's only going to be edibles. We're also getting another tiered, raised bed so I can plant more herbs in that. Chuck wants one of them for his tomato and pepper plants. We shared one this year and it wasn't big enough. No raspberries - I bombed on strawberry plants last year. :(
