Daily Ooos: Friday, March 14

The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
It's Friday and Pi Day! Double the goodness.♥

I wonder if @scrap-genie will pop in with a Pi post or LO. She usually does so I'm hoping that she will.
Oooh-- I just had a thought-- today will be a good day to bake one of the pies in the freezer. My mom brought brownies up yesterday so I didn't bother. But in honor of Pi Day, I think that is perfect timing.

Next question-- pumpkin or apple? I'm leaning toward pumpkin. Apple is fine for spring/summer. Pumpkin just feels wrong when it is warmer out. Although-- shoot-- I have to look at the ingredients. My mom made us a broccoli quiche and used the Pillsbury frozen pie crust like she always does. She also brought a box of Pillsbury mini-tart crusts and showed it to Tom to check if there was butter in it. No butter but lard. I checked the regular Pillsbury ingredients which also has lard. Cripes. It's too bad because the quiche was extra delicious and my mom made it on Cait's request. As long as I have the time, I make crust from scratch but I like to have the Pillsbury on hand in case I am whipping up something quickly. So disappointing.

I am going to work on lessons this morning and figure out what to do about my back. Between sitting most of the day, every day and being off balance from the reboot, my back started to spasm yesterday. The TENS unit helped sooo much but it is still on that thin thread, one wrong move and kaplooey. YKWIM?

Have a fantastic day!!

I had another potential new bird sighting-- a house finch. I only saw it on the feeder camera so the lighting is wonky but it sure looked like it had a reddish head and brown body. Merlin always hears them but I don't ever see them so I'm going to have to keep my eyes open. The spicy seed seems to be lasting quite a bit longer too even with the extra birds coming by.

@vickyday I am positive that whatever you and Ilene were up to (guessing lunch and Quirkle for sure LOL) you had a blast.

@BrightEyes Oooohhhh yay!! That's the best news about your SIL. I am so relieved! I will keep him in my thoughts as he recovers. ♥
that's fantastic that you are starting to see blooms on the trees! Gary took a picture of the crocuses in my front garden for me yesterday. I was tempted to walk out and uncover them a little bit but my front steps are uneven and have no handrail so I thought better of it. Yes, I surprised myself. *taps forehead* Every once in a while I use my noggin' for good.
Enjoy all of the books from the library.

@taxed4ever I am so sorry that you are still so down, it is understandable and expected. Please talk to us if it makes you feel any less sad or alone. You always put up with my bad moods, it is the least I can do for you. :hug4:

@AK_Tracy Kids or coffee?
Coffee first. Safer for everyone involved. LOL I hope that you didn't overdo it with the grands. Are you starting to feel any improvements with the nerve pain?

@deej What a fun girl's weekend! Enjoy!

@BoatLady I am grabbing my (one) flipflop and sundress and will be hobbling my way down to visit! That view would be worth it LOL

@Terri M Is it getting easier to shop at and near the grocery store?
That's fab news that David found his hearing aid!!! I wouldn't be surprised if the Tony, Tony saying was about St Anthony. As for my grandma, she had a quirky sense of religion as well, so I wouldn't put it past her to call a saint by a nickname. hehehe!

Time sign off,

Hugs!!

Going to be hunkered down today. Very high wind warnings and "maybe snow" starting soon. You know it is bad when the electric company warns they may shut off power in several areas of state to avoid snapped power lines starting wild fires!!! 2 areas of the state had bad wild fires last year so understand the concerns. Forecasts that the winds could get to 80mph.... YIKES!!!
I was going to do the laundry today but think I will put it off for a day or two until the winds settle down. It would be my luck that the power would go off in the middle of doing it.

No new update on Son-in-law yesterday - so take it to mean that he is stable.

@faerywings Glad you are listening to yourself and not attempting to go down the rail less steps outside. So neat that you have crocus stating to poke out of the ground. I should go out to the backyard and check to see if my potted daylilies are starting to poke up... Glad you are having fun watching the bird-feeder videos. Oh... now you have made me hungry for a pumpkin pie. Shoot... I used my last frozen pie crust so will have to wait until I can get to the store to get one. Hope you can make your own from scratch. I don't keep lard any more just olive oil... and used the last of the butter a couple of weeks ago.

@AK_Tracy hope you are feeling better now. I agree... coffee first before the kids come over!!!

@deej Have a Girls Weekend with your friends.

@BoatLady Your weather sounds wonderful! I remember how it was when we lived in Florida .... lots of sunshine and warm most of the year.

@Terri M So sorry to hear about the shooting at the grocery store you shop at most of the time. Hopefully it won't happen there ever again.

@Cherylndesigns I still have the ups and downs of emotions so understand how difficult it can be at times. :hug2: So glad you have family nearby to help/support you during those difficult days.

@vickyday Has the engine light stayed off long enough for you to get the inspection done???

Need more :coffeedrinker: HAGD

Morning ladies, I am off to the lab this morning to pick up a test and other than that not much else happening around here. Guess what?? I finally got a layout done and will post it this morning. It is for the Journaling Challenge and it was good therapy for me to do that one! (thanks for the suggestion @faerywings ). I was going to do a long walk along the burm with SIL Linda yesterday, but the weather took a turn for the worst and the wind was howling and it rained cats and dogs. Of course by supper time the sun had come out again and it was a beautiful evening, crazy weather!! I might go to a local place and look for a new swimsuit, because DH and I heading to the spa in April I would like one that isn't thread bare and in danger of falling apart :giggle4:. Perhaps one that I can use to start swimming laps again too. I was thinking that it would be a good thing for DH and I to do together, he can use the steam room and sauna and the hot tub, while I swim my laps. He can't put his head under the water anymore so no lap swimming for him. Poor guy gets ear infection so easily! Anyway I need to finish my coffee and get going before the traffic starts getting too heavy. Friday traffic is the worst!! I should have gotten this test a few days ago when the traffic wasn't bad. Although I am sure our traffic isn't as bad as what many of you have to deal with.

I am going to work on lessons this morning and figure out what to do about my back. Between sitting most of the day, every day and being off balance from the reboot, my back started to spasm yesterday. The TENS unit helped sooo much but it is still on that thin thread, one wrong move and kaplooey. YKWIM?
Sorry your back is giving you trouble Chris, did you find the chair yoga helped you at all?? Good idea not to attempt to go down the stairs!! We have daffodils that are ready to bloom at any time and crocus is out also! So nice to see the house finch, we have many and they come to the hummingbird feeder and steal a drink once in awhile, cheeky things!! Hope your work on your lessons keeps you occupied and out of trouble!
Forecasts that the winds could get to 80mph.... YIKES!!!
YIKES is right!! That is a lot of wind!! Stay safe inside and hopefully the power does not go out for you! So glad to hear that your Son-In-Law is breathing on his own and it sounds like he must be stable, so hopefully the road to recovery will not be too long for him!

Ok off I go to the Lab, hoping today the sun will come out at some point and warm us up :sunnyeyes:have a great :friday:

Good Morning,
Had a busy day yesterday with Ilene and had an appointment at the bank with Ruth this morning.

Yesterday.......
Ilene picked me up around 10:30. I drove us to lunch at Olive Garden first, like always when we are going to COSTCO. The woman can eat twice as much as me! After lunch the next stop was COSTCO. While there, we wanted to pick up some items fro fix for dinner to take to our friend, Carolyn from church, who is shut-in at present with her ailing husband (who is 20 years younger than she!). We got frozen lasagna, Caesar salad, and a blueberry lemon loaf. COSTCO didn't have any garlic bread. When we got to the register and looked closer at the salad, it looked like it had been frozen, so we handed it back to the lady (who probably took it back to the place we got it from!)

That meant we needed to stop for garlic bread and salad at another store. We also decided to take everything uncooked to Carolyn because she had mentioned to me during our conversation earlier in the day that her husband was on a weird eating schedule. She was fixing him breakfast when we arrived there at 2. She was so appreciative just to not have to "think" about and prepare dinner! It was all there and ready to pop into the oven when needed!

After our visit with them, we came back here to unload my groceries and get the meat into the fridge for me to take care of later. And Mark was going to ride the bike to Ilene's to pick me up later on.....no room for the groceries on the bike, LOL!

Anyway, last stop was Ilene's. By the time we got to her house around 3:30, and got her groceries put away, she started fixing supper for Mark and I. I helped her get the potatoes peeled and got the pork chops seared. She worked on making a blackberry cobbler, chopping the potatoes to cook, and put the corn and green beans on. Mark got there around 4:30. We were ready to eat by 5:00. After we got the dishes cleaned up, the 3 of us sat down to play Qwirkle. We played 3 games before going home. Mark won 2 of them! We're not going to play with him anymore! ;)

Today.......
Got up a little after 8. Fixed coffee for Mark and I. Got dressed and ready for Ruth to pick me up to go to the bank for our 9:00 appointment. We were back here before 9:30. Mark has gone to the woods. I am going to work on dividing up the meat into freezer packs. I'm going to try to find some "Freezer Meal" recipes first and hopefully be able to take out complete meals from the freezer to cook! I may need to buy some ingredients first, however. We shall see how it goes! Other than that, I need to get caught up on my daily ATCs and maybe have time to get into another challenge. Plus check on my challenge and comment.

HAGD!

Next question-- pumpkin or apple?
PUMPKIN!!!
one wrong move and kaplooey. YKWIM?
Yes, I know exactly what you mean!!!
I am positive that whatever you and Ilene were up to (guessing lunch and Quirkle for sure LOL) you had a blast.
For sure....we did! ;)
Forecasts that the winds could get to 80mph.... YIKES!!!
YIKES!!! I hope that "could" ends up being a "didn't happen!"
No new update on Son-in-law yesterday - so take it to mean that he is stable.
No news is good news.....hopefully!
Has the engine light stayed off long enough for you to get the inspection done???
No. Fortunately, the inspection isn't due until September. So the mechanic still has time to figure it out! Mark thinks he is starting over to see if he missed something somewhere!

Only 10 more lunches!!! ;)

Good morning ladies. I finally got my jewelry selection sent in for review. It was hard to only pick five but I decided to keep it simple, so I can stockpile quickly if I get accepted. I'm not worried about it though b/c if they decide to delay for now (possibly b/c I have no selling experience yet and no online presence or they might not have an open space in the store right now) I will keep creating for me and friends but will start an IG account to showcase my designs and sell privately for now. Either way, I will continue to design and have fun.

I'm off to mexican train game in a few hours but will get out with Remi for a walk first after I shower/dress. Then I will head into Calgary to pick up some jewelry supplies from marketplace. Busy day ahead (as always).

@faerywings You talk about me being busy all the time but I think you are just as busy, you do a lot more in the kitchen than I do, that's for sure. I agree, pumpkin pie sounds like a good idea.

@BrightEyes Hope you don't lose power. We had a big wind storm a few days ago but luckily didn't lose power.

Have to get another coffee, post a LO and get on with my day. BFN

Good Morning!
Typical March here. Snowed last night. Not enough to do much more then say its white on the ground. less then half an inch. Today I get to stay home. Yeah. Eyes, dental, grands, etc all done for the week. Last night was the first night I was allowed to sleep without my compression. It was bliss but weird. I have just enough time left to drink my coffee and shower before I have to put it back on. We're now at the 12 on 12 off schedule and I made sure to wait long enough I didn't have to hurry in the morning.

I hope that you didn't overdo it with the grands. Are you starting to feel any improvements with the nerve pain?
Nope, didn't over do it. I sit on the couch and they bring books and snuggle in. We do this all the time, even before surgery. As for nerve pain its manageable. Sometimes I get a stabbing sudden pain as a nerve wakes up but I can usually rub it away. This is where my CMT is helping LOL Half my nerves dont work anyway.
Very high wind warnings and "maybe snow" starting soon.
Stay safe Kay. We dont want you blowing away.

@vickyday sounds like yesterday was a great success.

@taxed4ever good luck finding a swimsuit. Laps sound fun. Might have to do that again when I'm totally healed.

Coffee is calling my name and something spooked the dogs so gotta refill cup and let the dogs in. Have a great day!

Rae this are beautiful!!! You wont have any trouble selling them. I love the two on the right. I love the key.

Chris @faerywings I posted my Pi Day LO early so it was already here.

Last night I was up to see the lunar eclipse, at least parts of it as it was too cold in the night to stay outside.
And remember about House Finches that only the males have red in their plumage.

Hi Everyone! Long time no see! Or at least it feels like it's been a while. I was telling Mark today that my work isn't physically taxing but mentally it is - nothing is "hard", but there is so much to do and keep track of, I come home really tired. Very fulfilled, but very tired. It's messing with my scrapping work flow! And this week I have another head/chest cold and it's messing with me. Third time I've been sick since starting work last July. I've been taking all the things, sleeping late and going to bed early and I'm still really tired. Today I worked half day as Friday's usually are. Mark and I went to the lunch and to the Verizon store. Last Monday I spent an hour and half on the phone with Verizon to get our account squared away after that phone return last month. This gal redeemed my faith in Verizon, and we have a date tomorrow to hook us up with new phones. I got an email this week that we can get into new phones for 0$ per month and no phone plan changes. So yeah, we're doing that! We just have to pay tax and upgrade fee. tonight the high school kids at the school associated with our church are putting on a musical so we're all going to that. Tomorrow and Sunday should be good rest days.

I had another potential new bird sighting-- a house finch
New bird sightings always make for good days! I love how you share your list with us.
Very high wind warnings and "maybe snow" starting soon.
Hard to believe there is still possibility of snow in March! I forget that you're at elevation and it's colder up there. Hope it warms up soon!
We have daffodils that are ready to bloom at any time and crocus is out also
My mom had crocuses in her front yard. When we were growing up, it was always a big deal when the crocus tips broke the surface.
Had a busy day yesterday
You are impressively busy!! Reading all you accomplish in a day is #retirementgoals!
Either way, I will continue to design and have fun.
Your work is beautiful!
Last night was the first night I was allowed to sleep without my compression. It was bliss but weird.
So glad you reached that milestone!

We saw a little bit of it early on! Such a cool event, I'm glad you were able to see parts of it!

Have a good evening everyone!

Hi!!!!!! :waving1
Sounds like you've been busy with work. I totally get the mentally tired. Its almost worse and more draining than physical tired.
New phones sounds fun.

Well the worse of the weather missed us! Having gusts but only up around 50 mph, thank goodness. Had a bit of snow melting as it landed on the ground but temp is up into the 40's so no accumulation. Heavy clouds coming and going - the sun breaks through for 15 minutes or so. Crazy, crazy... but glad it isn't worse than it has been. Yes, @mimes1 ... we are at 5100 ft but have mountains up at 10000 ft just across the valley... much colder there than here and they did get snow. Have had the heat in the house up all day and took a PJ day.

Decided I needed a different springlike siggy so worked on it this morning. Will be changing it in April for my anniversary... Started to make a St Pat's one but it would only be good for a few days. :crying1: Going to sort the laundry in a few minutes... may even get a couple of loads done today.

This has been a busy week for some reason! Everything happening at once! Next week will probably be boring, LOL!
