Is it really the end of June? Another month flew by...

Who is ready for a long weekend in the US? No difference to me or Gary, or Scott either, I guess. He'll be busier than normal at the parks but his schedule won't change. Caitlyn is working remote on Monday and is off on Tuesday. I know she'll be happy to catch up on some rest. She ran new student orientations this week and she barely had time to breathe.

I am disappointed about the weather/air quality. Gary and I were going to go for a hike but the air is disgusting again. He has chronic pneumonia and the smoke really irritates his lungs. The pneumonia doesn't bother him all of the time (it's an infection related to Lyme) and the last time the air was bad we didn't even think about it until he was uncomfortable breathing and having that tightness in his chest. No point in having him struggle for stinky air if he doesn't have to. I scrubbed my patio for hours yesterday and because it's such a small area, I didn't notice how awful the sky looked until I chatted with my friend. You can see the mountains from her house and the air was thick and grey. It doesn't smell like a campfire like last time so that's good.

I am not sure what I am going to do today. I will try to get outside for a little while but other than that.... make falafel.... :baking1: That will take plenty of time. (It's worth it, Faery--think of how good it's going to taste). I like to make the mix up early in the day so it has a few hours to "sit," I have no idea if that makes any difference at all, but it seems to so that's how I roll. If anyone has a better way to do it, I would love to hear it.

A quiet, boring day. I am having lots of them lately.

Wishing everyone a happy Friday!

Oh-- Finish It Friday
I need to finish cleaning my office. :vacuuming:
Still. :giggle4:

@vickyday That's fantastic that Lowe's and Chris came through. I hope the next one comes in quickly and that you have no problems with it. I am also happy to hear that your stomach and headaches are better. Stress really takes a toll.
Hope you and your DD had a nice time shopping.

@Cherylndesigns :thud:
Sorry Cheryl, too late-- I fainted seeing you in here so early yesterday even though you warned me.
Gary has restless arms/legs/neck/feet. He literally *has* to crack and snap them. I hope that you slept better last night. Does anything seem to trigger it?
hahahahaha!!! Kinleigh sounds like she might actually be a match for Ava! I love it, and love Adrienne's comment about payback LOL!!! Can't wait to hear more stories about Kinleigh and Ava. :)

@LSlycord "normal" is highly overrated be it for schedules or personalities. *G*
How wonderful to see so many birds and that you have the cardinals coming regularly. What are your plans for Tampa, just a nice girls' weekend or something special?
Paper chains... ♥

@taxed4ever Hope that you had an easy dentist visit and a wonderful, pampering time at your pedi.

@Nonni F WOWOOWOOOOOWWWWW!!!
I LOVE IT! The tattoo came out amazing!! Five hours is a long time to sit, I hope you have a good pain tolerance.
I am one of those weirdos that tattoos don't hurt. Or labor. But a papercut... whine whine whine LOL

Morning ladies!! OMG how did it get to be the last day of June??? I am going to spend the morning on the Lake in my kayak and then I really need to get caught up here at the O! This afternoon will be spent getting the things we need for Canada Day dinner with the In-Laws and we are taking the kayaks up to Cowichan Lake for the day. Hopefully we will have some calm water to paddle in. Cowichan Lake is pristine and clean compared to Quamichan Lake here where I live, so it will be nice to actually be able to see deep down into the water. Its going to be another hot and sunny day, so we need to get out on the Lake very soon before its too warm and the wind picks up.

@faerywings - Its a long weekend for us here in Canada too, hope you find something fun to do and that those darn smokey skies are going to be gone for your weekend!! I think that we are one of the few provinces that are affected by the smoke from all the forest fires. Good luck with your falafel making today! I can't give you any advice on making it, I have never made any myself. Dentist visit was good, but I had a different girl doing the cleaning and she was not so gentle as the last one. I am glad its done and no other work to be done on my teeth. Pedi was great I got the shellack finish on my toes so I should be good with this color for the summer. Went with a kind of navy blue with lots of sparkle. Love it!

@Cherylndesigns - You poor thing, suffering with restless leg syndrome, that has to really suck!! I sure hope you had a much better sleep last night!!

@Nonni F - Love, Love, Love your tattoo!!! Wow that is a long time to sit in chair! Hope it wasn't too painful, but oh my so worth it! It's just beautiful!

Ok ladies I gotta get outta here!! I will hopefully be back this afternoon! Have a great :friday:

Wow... can't believe it is the last day of June! I managed to get a Color Play LO done and posted it this morning. Still not up to doing a lot of commenting, etc. Hope that improves in July.

Happy Canada Day to all Canadians! Enjoy your holiday.

Have a few errands to run today before it gets too hot. No plans for the weekend - just stay inside and keep cool.

Good morning ladies. I've got lot of chores to do today. Between fighting with photoshop (which seems to be working now) and being out every day visiting, shopping and hiking lots this past week, chores have been neglected. I've got a quiet day, coffee meetup this afternoon. I need to figure out what food dish to bring to a party tomorrow so I'll shop after my coffee meetup, getting whatever groceries I need and getting some IPA beers as a gift.

@faerywings I don't think I've ever had falafel before but its some kind of a wrap, isn't it?

@taxed4ever Enjoy the kayaking and good weather this wkend.

I've got to hop in the shower and get my day started. HAGD everyone.

Yes, the stress of my late husband's cancer caused my IBS problem, I'm sure, even though I thought I was handling it ok. I guess I was internalizing it.

Good morning all.

Chris @faerywings, sorry about shocking you yesterday am at the crack of dawn. But I DID post a warning. I KNEW you'd about fall over. What a night - I didn't sleep for 5 minutes! It was the most miserable night I've had for a LONG time. I used to have a lot of them with that awful RLS, but it has been semi under control but it came back with a vengeance. They tried to start in last night when I got in bed, but I managed to go to sleep. If I get back in that cycle again, I'll scream. You'll hear me. Ava has found a chiropractor that she loves and I'm going to go see him. My chrio in Michigan actually did a special procedure that "cured" them for a long time. Then we moved to Florida and the guy "tried" but it never worked the same. I have the procedure typed out from my dr in Mi and I think I'm going to have to try that again. I was even able to get off the medication in Mi. I gave up in FL and went back on it. I'm desperate now. What triggers them? Maybe the fact that we walked around in Beall's Outlet for almost 3 hours Sunday? Who knows? The Native Americans recommend pickles and pickle juice, so I got some yesterday. I love Bread and Butter pickles and Adrienne's going to get me some homemade ones at the Farmer's Market in the morning. I ate some last night.

If it makes you feel any better, the air quality in the Detroit Metro Area was the HIGHEST in the whole US yesterday. We all have Detroit on our weather apps. I guess Ava said when they flew into there it really was stinky. PRoor Gary - he doesn't need to be out in that. Chuck has a chronic lung condition and that's one of the best things about living out here - the air quality is almost always great. Because of the mountains, I guess.

Kinleigh is a little hoot - they came down yesterday and she's a busy body, but SO cute and smart. She's very soft spoken, but knows what she wants, just like her Aunt Ava. She's only been gone a couple of days, but she hasn't cried for her mom once time, not even when they Face Timed. Of course, somebody is always carrying her around and spoiling her rotten. Roger's the biggest soiler. She had only been up about ten minutes this am and he'd already given her a Nutter Butter. Adrienne sent me a video of her loving that - Adrienne said it was too early, but Roger had deaf ears. He was holding Kinleigh while she enjoyed that cookie. We're all going to the pool around 2. She has slept til ten both mornings and takes a nap so that will work about right.rud

Trudy, I've been getting the gel polish on my toenails too and it stays on for 3 to 4 weeks. I love it. I made a layout for Canada Day - hope you see it on FB. It's for another designer (not from the O). We lived in Detroit for years, (well, not IN Detroit. but a suburb) and we had business friends of Chuck's and we always celebrated the two holidays together. They lived in a high rise on the Canada side of the Detroit River and threw a big party every year so everybody could watch the fireworks and party. It was always a lot of fun.

Kay, so good to see you and NO I can't believe it's June 30th! Hope you're feeling a little better.

Hugs to all and I must run - I have a gazillion things to do here and lots of layouts to finish posting and I'd better get cracking if I'm going to get up to the pool by 2.

Happy 4th of July and Happy Canada Day!

Good Afternoon!
Been busy already today. We are having lunch at church on Sunday and the fellowship hall needed sweeping and touched up a bit, so I decided to make it my good deed for the week, lol!
Not much going on other than I need to get some groceries for my cheesy potato casserole and sugar free brownies for the meal on Sunday. I will be working on laundry for our vacation travel starting Monday. Not sure if we are riding the bike or not. Depends on the weather which Mark will check Sunday.
In other news about the freezer fiasco....the new freezer is supposed to be delivered tomorrow! I'll be glad when I can shut the book on that drama!
Hope you have a great Canada Day celebration, @taxed4ever and @bcgal00 !
Happy 4th of July on Tuesday to my American friends! I'm probably not going to be around much this weekend and all week to come.
Have a great weekend! :bye2:

FRIDAY!!!! FRIDAY!!!! FRIDAY!!!! I once again finished my work day at the winery. While I'd like to blame our new selectman who owns the winery, for giving me samples as well talked, making me a wine slushie to go...and his son bringing out their eleven year old mastiff (yes, eleven!) to cuddle... it was an awesome way to finish of the day. ...and I didn't have to go, so it's all on me. Can't blame him. (the cats may or may not have given me side eye when I got home after smelling dog though)

As for my ink time.... I enjoy Kelvin's company. We chat and laugh... and for a bit of time, I opened up a book and read while he hummed along to his hip hop music. The time itself flew. Luckily I have a pretty high pain tolerance and it's more annoying than painful if that makes sense. My numb butt on the other hand... oy, that was a long time to sit still and behave.

Today was super busy at work and Monday taxes are due so no LONG weekend for me, but still so very thankful for the weekend itself.

@Cherylndesigns I've heard apple cider vinegar helps too for RLS and leg cramps. I've read a lot about it. They say there's no scientific evidence about the vinegar or the pickle juice but a lot of athletes swear by it. So many different suggestions as to what makes it worse. Caffeine comes up a lot; as does low iron. But, that's just what I've read online. I'm not a real doctor, I just play one on tv. ;)

I hope everyone has a most fabulous evening. I'm off to attempt to scrap.

PEACE

What a delightful day you've had, Nonnie! I LOVE wineries - anywhere, any kind,. One of our fondest experiences was when we went to an underground winery in Germany. I can still remember every detail of that - my hubby was there on business and the guys al knew exactly where to take us. We also took a day long tour of some of the wineries in Napa Valley. I remember that one of them was Robert Mandavi. That's when we learned that the wineries anywhere except the Champane Region of France could not call their "champagne" "champagne". They were so classy and of course, we did a LOT of tasting. They took us all out to a wonderful dinner at the end of the late afternoon. We have several wineries in this area, so it must be good grape growing and wine making climate-wise. I've had several bottles from The Blind Luck Winery - very classy bottles. I'm kind of like Chris @faerywings for just at home, I like the boxed wine - never thought I'd say that. :floorlaugh:

Thanks for doing a little research on RLS. It's a mysterious ailment but at least the Medical Association recognizes it now as a SYNDROM. They used to blow it off like it wasn't a thing. Here's the rub, hardly any men (sorry Gary) have RLS. I'm confinced that's why they don't think it's as bad as it is. Most doctors used to be men. I honestly don't think my husbad understood fully until his fellow executive friend told him that HE had it and how terrible it was. He was the one who recommended the medicine I'm still on.

Glad your tat didn't hurt too much. I have a small one and it didn't really hurt at all. I have a high pain tolerance too and I think you REALLY have to want one!! The last big one my granddaughter got was the hardest one for her. She said she almost had to have him stop and go back the next day. It was on her ribcage, though.

Hugs and happy Friday!!

@Cherylndesigns my husband suffers from horrible leg cramps so I'm always reading.... you know those rainy, evenings where you go down the internet rabbit hole?!

I remember when I got my first tattoo, I said to the tattoo artist "Why does the red hurt more?" He laughed and said, it's not the color it's the fact I've been stabbing you for four hours straight! Yup! That was it!

I'm definitely a boxed wine girl. But, it's fun to spoil myself every now and then... otherwise known now as "every Friday in June!" lol

I have a military friend who wrote a book about WWII vets. There are photos somewhere on the internet of them meeting in an underground winery in Germany. From both sides... US, British and German Soldiers. It was probably three years ago. Wine, song and hugs from both sides. I cry every time I come across it. It's just beautiful.
