Happy Friday! I hope that we in the USA are having a nice, long weekend. I have to grumble a bit. It has been a while since I had time to go outside and get really into my yardwork and plants. I had grand plans to do that today but it looks like the weather is not cooperating. Drat! It was not supposed to rain until later this afternoon but it is very dark and cloudy right now.
I hate it when my days are chopped up, it is so hard for me to switch gears. And now, I have time to do what I want and I am getting rained out
I know, I am a big girl and will deal fine, just needed to get that out of my system.

Yesterday was just spent doing nothing much of anything. I started another scrap page and I only need to add the finishing touches to it. I spent some time with the rats. Cait had to babysit and asked me to check in on them in case her room got too hot. I brought them a bowl of frozen peas in water so they could cool off by fishing for them. They are soooo funny when they do that, how they scoop them up, eat the inside of the peas and then spit out the skin. I took a bunch of pics but of course, they are all blurry. heh

Ray isn't doing so good and I am worried about her. She was fine in the morning and was letting me brush her for a long time. But then she started panting and hiding under my legs. I thought she was overheated so I put the AC on. When I got back from cleaning, she was still lying on the tile by the front door. She ate fine, I even gave her an extra bit of wet food which she gobbled up. But she was not walking right and seems very stiff. I realized that she is acting the same way as she did when she hurt her neck a year ago. I gave her a Rimadyl that was left over and hopefully, she slept well. I was petting her this morning but she was fast asleep and I didn't want to wake her. She is breathing and moving, I made sure of that. She is an old girl- 13 1/2- and I love her so much... Good thoughts are always appreciated!

Depending on the weather, I still hope to be outside a bit. I do need to keep an eye on Ray and if she is in a lot of pain I will take her to the vet. Plus some regular household stuff, some bills, and laundry. We are going to my next door neighbors' tonight for our annual pizza and drinks. They have a gorgeous gazebo so even if it rains we will stay dry.

Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful day! xoxo

Hi Felis- thank you for the USA Birthday wishes! The one good thing about Ravyn being deaf is that she can't hear the fireworks. She can feel the thunder but fireworks are far enough away that they don't bother her.
I keep wanting to scrap pictures of the rats because they are really adorable, but the pirate bar is on my list too.
it's about history and culture of our roots
You are 100% correct but sad to say, our history isn't all that great either. I am listening to a fascinating podcast about the ways that the US stole so much land from the Indigenous Tribes. Fascinating and horrific. Although, sad to say that this is probably found in all cultures. In the podcast, the woman recounts that the Cherokee Tribe bought and kept slaves. After slavery was abolished, the Cherokee gave them citizenship in the Tribe as "Freedmen."
(I am a history geek nod: )

Nancy- it was a beautiful day yesterday! It was hot in the afternoon, Cait and I tried to take W for a walk but we decided that the road was too hot for her paws.
Do you want to hear something funny? I was at PT and man was in the area next to me, talking about that accident and how the Tunnel was closed and the GWB and Holland Tunnel were all backed up. My first thought was about how your men were going to get home! You can take me away from Oscraps, but you can't get Oscraps out of me, no matter where I am LOLI am sorry that it took so long for your DS to get home, it must have been insane.

I am so happy that everyone likes the LOs of the rats. I know that a lot of people react negatively to them in general but they are really the best pets. Different but equal to dogs

Hugs to all of you!

good morning - a very low key July 4th for us. My son went to a BBQ with friends from work. My DH decided to stay home as the train schedule was holiday and so not many trains running. It is cloudy here and rain expected but not until later in the day. My DH already took Luther on a walk so that is good for him as he is not good in the heat. I cooked a good dinner nontraditional - Chicken and orzo salad and it was so good. I love it when no leftovers.

Chris I know what you mean when days chopped up. It feels like nothing gets done. I sure hope Ray feels better. Sending good vibes her way. Have fun with the rats.

Waving to all! Have a great day!

Good afternoon girls!
Just a lovely day here! I'm taking a free day. Started working at the garden. There have always something to weed and mow, so can't be actually satisfied, but it's nice to be outside. When get too hot we just sit at the side yard to read and sunbathing. We was plan long dog walk and more yard work, but it started rain (and still drizzle), so I spend the afternoon with my cats and took a short nap too. Now will have movie night, and hopefully scrap. It couldn't dream for better day! Will have to work at the weekend, but I'm not much enthusiast for grocery shopping at this hotness, so now I have excuse to not go with the others. :rain::bounce:

Chris, I hope everything to be fine with Ray! You have all my positive thoughts and healthy vibes! I hope it isn't so serious, and it is just from the sweltering heat! :grouphug: Haha, LOL I totally can see you as a cute little girl stubborn stamp with a leg, because the weather not cooperate you. Wish you a better chance at the weekend! Looks like all of us have this kind of flowers, I have to take a pics of mine before rain to damage them, I love both your and Jean pages about them, but now I have to make one too ;) . Umm, honestly every history have dark chapters, but the way how they are overcome make us proud! I'm found that history is much more interesting to me when I read literature from this period, instead just a historical facts. Sometimes it is difficult to understand the past old, and have sensitive difference at worldview in books written at the moment and later publication about this period.
Oh, don't worry how someone will react on the rat pages. This is great about the scrapbooks, that everybody is free to express yourself!

Nancy, how bad about the incident with the tunnel! It's even double annoying to be stuck in this hotness when AC have to be on max. Sorry for this question, I'm not try to be rude,it's just a silly question, but I'm confused what actually is count as a traditional diner for US?!
