*shakes my head slowly* Where did July go? I am astounded that it is the last day of July. But yet-- at the same time, hasn't it been July for eons?
I wonder how I am going to feel once we flip the calendar to August. Usually, I get all frantic in August, trying to squeeze in all of the summery things I want to do, anxiety over upcoming back to school changes. Will there be any changes, other than Caitlyn having less time to do puzzles with me? hehe! Sheesh, I wonder how Scott is going to feel, this is the first time since he was 3 that he didn't have any sort of back-to-school.

Yesterday was mostly very dull. I cleaned up the kitchen, laundry, finished a puzzle with Caitlyn. I thought I had all of my scrap supplies cataloged in ACDSee but when tried to find things for an upcoming challenge, I realized that it hasn't all gone through. Seems like I can only do a few folders at once to it shuts down. I did that for a bit while listening to Obama's eulogy for John Lewis.

Today will be more of the same, although I have to add in some end-of-the-month stuff here.
Oh yeah, I guess we should take down the Christmas Tree! haha!!! ;)

Gratitudes:
-my mom has an appt with her cardiologist and she is ready to see him like an old pro! She sounded great when I spoke with her too
-we had leftovers for dinner last night *and* Scott gave me a few additional ideas for dinners.
-it rained overnight so maybe my lawn won't be 90% brown and crispy

Trudy- I hope that it has cooled off for you. What a bummer about needing a third coat of stain. :( More time to spend with your true love *winks*
Did you have a really good visit with your cousin? What are we all going to do when the weather gets cold and it is hard to be outside for visits? Well. everyone in the world will be able to be inside with caution except for the US at the rate we are going.
Bet it felt nice to be able to paint a bit. Did you see the skateboard that Leah did for a commission? I wish I could have seen in it person. It looked incredible in the pictures. She has done so well with selling which is great news as she hasn't been able to get a job ATM.
I won't breathe a word about the collectible plates to your MIL :tape: LOL

Kay- good to see you again, hope that you and your family are well! I agree, thank goodness your AC is working. I am sure that your chat with DD#3 was a good thing for both of you but I am sorry that it made your BP spike.

Nancy- Sorry that you had to have a confrontation with the girl but like you said, at least she had on a mask. I am so darn happy that hockey is back for you! So far, no cases with the players? I saw yesterday that 2 Phillies players tested positive- guess that isn't a surprise after 17(?) people from the Marlins tested positive.
Did you finish Longmire yet? Hope that you and Luther are able to get out a bit today, it is so much cooler than the last week.

Hugs to all of you!!

Morning ladies I will just pop in and out of here this morning! Lots of to do, but what else is new?? Had a great visit with my cousin, but wow it was warm yesterday sitting outside in the shade. We had a great chat though! Today will be grocery shopping as I did not get my online order in, so off to the store we go. Then more little jobs to get done around here. Long weekend coming up so I would like to hit the store before it gets really busy! We are supposed to get rain on Sunday and Monday, so that is sad for all those who are looking forward to camping and swimming this holiday weekend. I wonder how many new cases we will be getting because of the partying etc??

Chris - :high5: to your Mom for going to her appointment like a pro!! Happy to hear she is doing so well! Yes, this month really flew by, but then also felt like it has dragged on forever LOL. Some days it seems like we will never ever recover from all of this COVID stuff! Other days it seems like we will just have to accept this as the new normal. I will have to look at Leah's Instagram page to check out her commission piece! I am so happy for her that she has been selling her gorgeous work!

Kay- Thank goodness for the AC!! Boy it sure has been warm for all of you! Hope that the meds keep your BP down!

Nancy - Yes it seems that some do not care about the signs in the stores, thank goodness she at least had a mask on! DH was not too impressed with his Bruins yesterday, sure hope that they play better next game! Glad that you are getting some cooler temps!

Ok I best get busy and get my end of the month things done! Have a great Friday everyone!

good morning - just finished a good talk with my sister. She said that AZ is doing better with Covid as cases seem to be going down. But wow she said it was 118 for a high and 111 at 10pm. I think I am hot but wow that is hot! Today we have windows open as the hight will be upper 70s. It is nice. We had thunderstorms roll through around 1am so I am a bit tired. Good hockey games. It seems that the teams that have to play the 5 game series are playing harder in these exhibition games that those teams that are already in the playoffs. My Coyotes just were not as good as the Vegas team. I am now in the last season of Longmire and as there are no hockey games today I should finish it today. Tomorrow is hockey all day. This is fun. And I have to say that the NHL has created arenas that look very good visually. You don't see empty seats which I think helps and the announcers don't harp on it like you see in baseball. So far the NHL is not putting out if players test positive only saying a player is unfit to play. No one can tell if an injury or Covid. Not sure I like that at all. But perhaps it is a privacy thing. Got in a walk in late afternoon. Today will be iffy as there is a chance of rain all day. My grass is super green.

Chris I too cannot believe it is the last day of July. It is getting more real for my DH that school is coming and decisions have to be made. He still is driving in to the NYC instead of mass transit but he will have to start doing the train again. He says traffic has really picked up. Sorry you have to put the tree up seems like your Christmas was really fun! Congrats on Leah for her art! Glad your mom is so up for her doctor visit. She knows him now so that must make it easier to see him. And she is feeling so much better so that too has to help knowing he is doing the correct things.

Trudy glad your visit went so well. Sorry about the heat! I really am impressed how well you and your DH work together. The steps must look so good now.

Jean that is something about the Marlins and all the positives. Do You think baseball will make it through all 60 games? I am still in the hopeful stage.

Kay my sister says it is hot so you must be hot too. Glad the AC is working!

Felis stay cool!

It seems like I need more structured days. Last week with class all the time I still managed to post here even if briefly, but this week I've been MIA for some reason. The days have been nice and I continue with the genealogy I started in class. Got to watch our baseball team again last night, and they won. So basically all is good. Like everyone, having a hard time imagining July is ending especially as I'm not sure we ever totally left March.

Chris, what a pleasure to see you in a better place and hear about your Christmas in July. It was fun to imagine that festive day. Good news on your mom! Give Scott an extra hug. Gotta be tough for him. You asked about the Louise Penny books, and I just don't know if you'd enjoy them. They are murder mysteries and parts can be pretty grim but there are some wonderful characters in the stories too. They are set in Quebec, not a place I know.

Trudy, looks like you've survived a week of the vacation! And it's sounding good. Hope the grocery was not crowded and you got all you needed. Sorry if you get rain for the weekend, but maybe will keep the crowding down.

Nancy, how nice to have all those hockey games! I sure don't know how it'll go with baseball. The Indians played at home, basically in their own "bubble" for the first week but now are on the road. The team is really trying to be careful and safe, but we'll see. I'm curious about the Longmire on TV in how they covered the mysticism and voices of old ones that Walt deals with in the books. Hard for me to imagine it.

Kay, good to know the meds work on the BP, but hope things quiet down so that it doesn't go up anyway. And wow, it is too hot out there. Glad your AC got back to working.

Felis, hope you have a lovely, not too hot weekend.

Sure am grateful for lovely summer days

Good evening all. It's almost August 1st! I can hardly believe it! After 4 months of Groundhog's Day - it's nearing the end of summer. Yikes!!

We're going to maybe have a hurricane now on top of everything else. They're on and off with where it's going and how bad or not it's going to be. Tonight, SW Florida is in "the cone".

It's been hotter than hot here - but that's pretty typical. So hot I had to cut my second dog walk down today - she was panting and kept sitting down like "I just can't walk any further, Mom".
