Happy Friday!!!
So after 4 hours in the sunshine, my feet are still whiter than my legs. pfft. I was hoping that they would "catch up" or at least blend a little better with the tan on my legs. Gardener's tan, I suppose.
No matter, I had a fantastic day with BFF. I just wish I could do something to help my nephew find a job. He has a job interview today but aside from a few screeners, he hasn't gotten a bite, even after sending hundreds of resumes/applications out. He moved back home from Pittsburgh yesterday. His dream is to work in a press office on Capital Hill but has been applying for internships on the local level. He is very smart and talented, has a ton of experience, and yet, *crickets*
The highlight of my day: Filling my tank!! Hahaha! I stopped at a station on the highway that is typically much cheaper than in my town-- $4.19! (My usual place in town is still $4.49) I filled up that sucker heh. Still came to almost $50 and I had to scrape some money from the "emergency $10 I keep with my keys. [Note to self: remember to replace that]

Today is going to be catch-up around the house. And stay out of the kids' way. That part is critical. They are getting packed up for the camping trip and they both get very stressed out. I learned to let them bicker and once they are on the road they are 100% fine. They are leaving first thing tomorrow morning and that will give me a few days of getting used to the house being very quiet.
I shouldn't worry about that yet- Caitlyn said last night that she is planning on being here for another 1 1/2 years so they can save as much as possible.

I have a couple of LOs I need to upload today - including the kooky Faery one LOL.

Good morning. I keep thinking of Trudy and her vacation...I woke up thinking of that. I had no idea that I would live so vicariously through others vacations. LOL

Just a work day here. Kids both work afternoon shifts so probably won't be home until about 8---that might mean Brian and I go grab something to eat after work. I now hate to go to restaurants and I don't really like to cook. Both of these things are very recent developments so they may go away. I am in a funk and don't seem to have the get up and go to do anything to get out of it!

I need to get to work...I slept late. But I'll be back later for personals.

@BrightEyes That makes me really happy that you had good talks with your sister and DD. Good scores on the fresh fruit! I miss having good fruits and veggies, my local store suuuuuuuuuuuucks.
That sounds so nice and relaxing to sit out and read on the patio. *whispers b/c I don't want to admit it* I have noticed the shorter days too...
I am sure it will take a bit getting used to the differences in scrapping on the different computer but good luck and enjoy!

@taxed4ever not sure if you will see this before you leave but have a wonderful time!!! Enjoy every last minute with the kids and grand!!!! I am so happy for you!
Also, I crossed my fingers and toes for an easy flight and knocked wood for no lost luggage

@bcgal00 that is soooo hot! I hope you are all drinking lots of water and using sunscreen.
The dinner must have been a lot of fun and high fives for making such healthy choices. Not sure if I could have passed up a bite of the fried Mars bar

@Cherylndesigns the more you think you are going to have a quiet day, the higher the chances are that you don't. That is really exciting if a bit headache-causing that the pool is getting poured. Hope you got some more pics!

Good morning all!''

Well, the pool got poured yesterday and then we had a torrential downpour last night. It stormed and rained ALL night and is still raining and only in the 70's now. We woke up about 6 am to NO power. I knew instantly because I was sweating - my overhead fan had stopped so I knew it was out. I never turn my fan off. It JUST got restored about 15 minutes ago. YAY!! I hope this revives my poor plants. BTW, Adrienne said the newly poured pool was probably fine. I'm sure it has water in it already from the rain. LOL I have a few pictures that I took last night - I'll post them later. I guess they're going to do it in stages - they have to come back and spray a top coat on it - it will be a blue shade, then they'll put blue tile on top of that.

Doing a quick in and out and will try to stop in later. I'm way behind in the things I need to get done today. I posted 5 layouts here and on all the social media places, last night. for Color Play and a pre-release, so I'm glad I stayed up and got that done, since we didn't have any power this am.

The extreme heat continues til Tues and then drops down to 85...whew. The dogs will be happy for the cooler temps. We have been hosing down the cement around the pool for them and wetting their paws so they don't burn. Jen loved her b-day gifts. We gave her a personalized coffee mug with a cartoon character that looks like her with the three dogs. D got one for me too. I had ordered her a sling bag for the trip and it came in time (I thought it was going to come a day late). She loves it, it is just the right size. Big enough for a hoodie, phone, hat, etc b/c in Alaska you have to be ready for abrupt weather changes. We cried a few times, thinking of Bailey and how much she loved celebrations, she would always write a long birthday wish for us in a card, taking time to really say a lot. Jen ended up sleeping for a few hours, emotionally worn out. Then we watched a comedy and had a BBQ dinner. She enjoyed her half piece of carrot cake and brownie fudge cake along with low sugar/lactose free choc ice cream. We were all tired and went to bed at 10. This morning she leaves for Vancouver for the day for her dental work. She is keeping the same dentist until she is done with braces. She'll be back by 9 or so tonight.

Jen got a call yesterday for an update on the lawsuit. One of the things we demanded was a change in the procedures and protocols of in-patients, ensuring better care and safety. A lot of changes are being made and we are happy to hear that.

Today is another pool day. It'll be a quiet day.

@faerywings I know filling up the tank is pricier these day. I dread filling mine up, last time it was about $85. Good thing I don't have to do much driving around here, everything is close. Hope the kids have a good wkend camping.

@taxed4ever Your holiday starts today. Enjoy the visit with the kids.

@LSlycord I'm in a food funk lately too. I don't want to eat out but don't want to cook much. I like using the BBQ as it makes it easy, a side dish and something BBQ'd.

I've got some CT stuff to do today so need to focus and get that done. I've been so lazy this week, just hanging out in the pool and watching videos.

Time to get out of my chair, Bella will be coming up soon as Jen should be leaving in a few minutes. Have a good day everyone.

What a beautiful day... partly cloudy but the temp is only 72*F at 10AM!!! Have had the house opened since 6 AM and loving that there is gentle breeze blowing. We had some rain early this morning and more forecast for today.

I have been busy as can be. Uploaded 1 Color Play layout to gallery and other sites. Then worked on a challenge LO for August. I got 2 other CT LOs done late yesterday afternoon. Still learning the in's and out's of using this computer.

@faerywings I feel your pain over the price of gas in your area. Noticed that the price here fell to $3.29 this week. Still have an almost full tank so will wait until later to get more. Hope all goes well with the kids camping trip. Good practice for you in empty nesting. I agree that Karen S's Empty Nesters is a fabulous collection.

@Cherylndesigns Wow... that pool is HUGE!! Thanks for showing us the pic. Wonder if they will need to drain the rainwater out since you got such a downpour last night. Always something going on at the compound. Hope the rain helps with your plants.

@bcgal00 So glad your slings came in before your leave. Wow... that trip sounds delightful. Enjoy the cruise and take lots of photos to share with us.
