I am sleepy this morning, I stayed up past my bedtime to watch the hearing last night. I am glad that I don't have much to do today other than drop my car off at the mechanics (yeah, again) and then I really need to clean my house. I also have to cook dinner- we have been eating leftovers all week which has been super nice but I promised the family I would actually "cook" today. It's just pasta with broccoli rabe and garlic so it's easy enough, I have just been pretty lazy and not in much of a mood to do it.

We watched the first 2 episodes of WWDITS and it still is hysterical. You always wonder how long they can keep up the humor without it going stale. I read that the writers just let the actors do their thing, a lot of it is improv and they seem to nail it.

My dad was able to book the firehouse so we now have an official date for the engagement party. That is good, right??? Why do I feel like I haven't recovered from the grad party yet? ;)

hugs to you!

@LSlycord How did the interview go?? That would be amazing to get benefits. *fingers crossed*

@how is Marten doing today? Hope he was able to pass whatever it was that he ate

@BrightEyes Good luck today with the tech people!

@taxed4ever So smart to be wearing your mask still, I wear mine when I go into stores too. Don't blame you for not wanting to get sick so close to your trip

@bcgal00 If you got the dogs to the river yesterday I am sure that all of you were tired, happy, and more than a little muddy :D

Good news that Maten was able to eat a bit of fish :)

@Cherylndesigns You are a walking disaster! JK, but yup, those things like exploding spa chairs could only happen to you *wink* (and me!)
Glad to hear that you are scrapping to keep your mind busy

Another quick in and out here. Interview went very well...they are still in their first round of interviews but I will be very surprised if I don't make the final cut. Then, after that, who knows. This world is crazy!

I should have watched the hearings @faerywings but I just couldn't deal with it. So I watched Virgin River instead. We have a primary in Florida in a couple of weeks and I need to make sure I know which candidate I support in the governor's race. It's a pretty big deal because our governor is really trying to make his mark down here and prep for a run for the presidency. So I want to be sure that I am well informed about the person that I want to run against him.

Anyway, back to work...just wanted to pop in quick.

Up and dressed early, early this AM. Got a call from the tech last evening... he won't be here until around 11:30AM today. Think I have everything set up for him... with the new 4TB ExHD and a list of folders I will need on it. Will have him walk me through how to add folders to it.

I also wanted to be up early before it gets too hot to take a look at the plum tree. I noticed late yesterday that there were several plums that had dropped off the tree. When I went out and took a good look this morning, I realized that not only was it full of plums but that a couple of branches had broken due to the weight of the plums on them! A few of the branches were almost touching the ground. Last year the tree didn't have any plums and this year it is full! Seems like it goes in spells - 1 year full and the next year nothing. Took my pruning shears out there and cut one the branches down as it was barely attached to the tree. I picked the plums off and ended up with 2 big bowls full of partly ripe plums - about 10 lbs. I laid them out in in a single layer in a plastic bin and covered the top with fabric (so there was air circulating and to keep the birds from eating at them) and tied the fabric down. It is sitting out on the back patio bench. The bin sides are clear so I can keep an eye on them to see if they will go ahead and ripen. The other branch is actually cracked but has not broken down like the other branch. And, yes... it is almost as full of plums as the other one was. I did get some photos of the tree before and after but won't put them on the computer until after the tech is here. I was LOL as I had a 'visitor' in the back yard. The local bunny was feasting on a few of the plums that had dropped on the ground. He scampered off when I open the patio door. And the local roadrunner was out visiting the houses on my street a couple of days ago. Think they are out looking for water.

A couple of days ago, I had heard a report about using a patio umbrella to shade the A/C unit on things to do to help with the power demands. So I pulled one of my patio umbrellas... including the weighted base and heavy iron patio table.... over to shade the A/C unit. Later that evening, I thought I heard the wind blowing.... looked out to see that the umbrella had been pulled out and blown across the yard and up against the fence and the table was 10' from the A/C unit and the weighted base was where I had put it!!! So that didn't work out!! I usually have the patio umbrellas closed and tied shut to avoid having the wind push/blow them around.

@faerywings Boy... you are going from 1 party to planning another one! Hope you can take a bit of time to rest and give your brain a rest from party preps. Yes, I bet it has been nice to have party left-overs so you didn't have to cook this past week. Think I am going to have to cook soon as I have used up almost all the frozen meals I had put there. I have been having dreams about Enchiladas but it is still too hot to make the sauce... it needs to cook for a few hours and that would heat the kitchen up too much right now.

@LSlycord I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get the job. Yes, those bennies are better than being a contract employee.

@Cherylndesigns <<< hugs >>> I know how scary it is to know one of your kids was in an accident and you are not there to see them and make sure they are okay! Glad to hear that the police were there quickly and gave the idiot a ticket.

Will pop back in later to let you know how the tech visit goes.

Good morning ladies... Its a beautiful sunny day and I don't have much to do today. Perhaps I will see if I can get a pick up spot for groceries and do on line shopping today instead of going to the store tomorrow. I am planning on going into the backyard to do a bit pruning and weeding and perhaps a short walk before it gets too hot. My mojo has left the building and I am really struggling to get a layout done these days. Guess its just too nice outside and I want to do outdoor things. I did manage to get to the Dairy Queen and purchase three gift certificates for SIL Linda's grands, hope that they enjoy the ice cream goodies!! Made a card for each of them too. I am thinking that perhaps that might be a good idea to get our grands some gift certificates perhaps to Micheals or a Game Store instead of dragging out presents to give to them in our luggage. Now I will have to get busy and make some cards for them too. LOL. I have a bit more cleaning up to do in my craft room and then I am sure that this weekend will be filled with getting the drip system ready and yard all tidy for our absence. Only 7 more sleeps!!

@faerywings - I am sorry you are sleepy today! I had a very good sleep, but it was filled with dreams. One very nice one of my Dad! Guess he was paying me a visit? I dreamed we were dancing and having such a nice time talking while we danced. When I woke up I said "Thanks for the Dance Dad!" I miss him!! How great that you were able to get the fire hall for your next party!! Whew you are going to be a busy lady this summer!

Well the boys are calling so I will have to get back in here in a bit and catch up with everyone! CYL

Mårten is fine today. Seems like he's back to his old self. *crossing my fingers*

I've had a fantastic day today. Met up with my two friends - we used to meet 1-2 times a month for lunch and chat a couple of hours away. Then the pandemic came, and then one of them moved to Stockholm, and we hadn't met for a year. Today we sat 3 hrs at the cafe and had a blast. So nice to just sit and talk to people where you don't have to pretend you're an adult. LOL (We met at a "class" where we learned to cope with our ADHD.) I had a salad with chevrè and walnuts. Sooooooooooooo good. (Diets and calories does not exist when we meet, that's the first rule of the club LOL)

Now I'm trying to decide if I will watch the soccer game tonight. It's the quarter final of the European championship for women. Sweden is going to kick the #/&¤ out of Belgium. (Sorry @veer LOL) But ... I might end up watching Netflix instead. There's a new season of Virgin River. Also, there's a new season of Capitani. We have so much to watch ... LOL

Good morning ladies. It'll be a quiet day around here with pool/hot tub fun and playing with the dogs indoors (way too hot to let them out for more than a few minutes at a time in the backyard). My back is a bit sore from our afternoon at the beach yesterday (lots of bending to pick up sticks) but totally worth it. Jen and I enjoyed being in the water with the 3 dogs and they chased sticks in the water for about 1.5 hours. The road to the beach is closed for repairs so we had to park at the sports arena further down the strip and then follow the river trail walkway for about 10 minutes to reach the dog beach. It was a nice walk.

@faerywings Glad the firehall is booked. It sure is a busy year for your guys but in a good way :)

@BrightEyes Good luck today with the computer.

I'm going to go hop in the shower to loosen up my back. Have a good day.

Hello Lovelies,

Feeling much better today, happy to report. I was in a pretty dark hole, but I don't stay there for very long, fortunately. I can't anymore - too many sweet faces coming in and out all day.

Chris, @faerywings you are Party Central! Get ready to roll again. Yes, the exploding pedi fountain could only happen to me or you. LOL Ava kept saying "Cici broke the chair". Hahaha

I'm so happy that scrapping is my therapy - at least I can always do that.

Kay @BrightEyes you've been so busy as usual. How cool to see the roadrunner. I wish we had them here. We have wild turkeys and deer who visit us. The big umbrella sounds like a great idea. We've thought about that, but our winds are so strong that it probably would be in the woods. I had mine (in Florida) weighted with sandbags' and it still blew. Yes, it's so hard to not be with our kids when they need us. Like I said, I was going to go there this week, but DD is too afraid of Covid that seems to be breaking out in her area. If it was just me, I'd go anyway, but Chuck has a pretty bad pre-existing lung condition, so we're all very protective of him.

I'd better go and do something - I have layouts to work on and my organizing of the office is getting done, slowly.

Happy Friday and hugs to all.

Ok finally back... had a really long facetime with the boys and Heather! Everyone is keeping cool inside, thanks to the new air conditioning! It is another really warm day out in Ontario! We talked about where we want to go and places we want to shop at while we are all together. I know that Jason and Jackie have a special day planned for Mason and Hunter for their birthday present, so that should be fun!

@LSlycord - Funny you should mention Virgin River, Heather was telling me how much she like it! It is filmed right here in B.C. and alot of it is filmed in Vancouver and where Rae used to live in Port Coquitlam and other scenes are in and around Squamish. I will have to check it out and see if I recognize any of the areas. Still keeping my fingers crossed that you get this new job with Benefits!!

@BrightEyes - Sure hope everything goes smoothly while the tech guy is there! It will be great for you to have it all wrapped up!

@tanteva - So glad to hear that Marten is doing well and back to his old self! What a fun day you had with your friends!! Of course calories etc. don't count when you are all together like that!!

@bcgal00 - So nice that you got out to the river with the dogs! Sounds like you are getting some pretty warm temps, too bad its too hot for the dogs to be outside for very long. A pool and hot tub day sound devine!! Wish I could join you! Hope your back feels better after your hot shower!

@Cherylndesigns - So glad that you are out of your dark place! Yes too many happy and fun faces that go in and out of your place for you to stay there! Hope your scrapping is going better than mine!! Send me some mojo please!

Ok I better get some lunch ready for my DH, not much left in the house and I couldn't get a spot for grocery pick up today, so will have to go to the store tomorrow. Sounds like it might be a take away dinner tonight?? Perhaps a juicy Mr. Mikes bacon, mushroom cheese burger!! (no bun).

I am doing a happy dance right now! The tech was here and was able to show me how to make folders on the ExHD and move/copy things there. We set up the folders, then copied a couple of things into them. Then moved the ExHD over to DH's computer got it set up there and was able to see all that we had set up!!! Can't believe it but I was able to copy all of my photo files in just over 1 hour!!! WOW!! Now before everyone - including me - gets too excited... moved 1 bundle over and that took longer :rolleyes:. So am still facing several days worth of work to get things copied. Hope to be done by the 1st of Aug... Now, I need to get back to copying stuff. CYL
