TGIF and happy day to my O-Fam!
My garage sale got rained out for this weekend, I am not sure if that is good or not. Actually, it is good, b/c I was not ready for it. So i am keeping my fingers crossed that our plan for next week will be a good one. Rainy and cool today so its not a beach day or yard work day either. I am not sure what I want to do after work today. I have wanted to scrap, but have been 100% uninspired. I open up PS, close it down. Try again, no good...

But I did finish two books this week, so that was nice. I have to totally recommend Gone Girl. I can't say too much for risk of spoilers, but it really grabbed me. First book I have read in a long time that I totally enjoyed.

Finish It Friday:
I have to pay the rest of the month's bills. And start bringing stuff down from the attic.

Good morning O people!

I can not believe the date on the calendar and feel like the days have flown by!

I'm catching up here as I've been away for a bit and moved my mom back to northern Iowa to an assisted living facility. The plan had been in the works for the past several months. My mom is 95 and her mind is as sharp as ever, but her mobility has been quickly failing her and was the best option to move her back north to her home town with family and friends. She was in awe of the facility when she arrived. It is only five years old and more like a gorgeous hotel with everything and anything she could need. She has only been moved in a few days, but already settling in and enjoying being treated like a queen and visiting with all her friends and family. She is now 10 hours away from me and that is the hard part. I called yesterday to check on her and she told me all about her breakfast and lunch (meals are a huge part of an older person's day!) and all her visitors and activity. She said she met some lovely ladies at breakfast and apologized that she was hard of hearing and the one lady laughed and said, "Well, who here isn't!!" She said they saved her a place at the table for lunch so she could sit with them..............how cute is that!!.............just like kids at school!

She and I are both adjusting to our new chapters. I'm so happy she is happy and that certainly makes it easier for me.

Chris- Good luck with the garage sale! Hope the weather cooperates and you are very successful with it!

The temps will be in the triple digits here for the next several days! Stay cool everyone!

Be sure to check out this week's AnnaLift!! It's a very cool 'edition' this week! (hint, hint!)

I am looking out my window and wow-- it is *dark* - creepy stormy dark. Can I blame the weather on today's lazy and sluggish mood? :rain:
Of course, I can. Who is going to stop me? LOL

(Just please don't wonder what my excuse was earlier this week when it was sunny, ok?)

Phyllis- How was your lunch? I must have read what you had written 3 times, I keep thinking you wrote "kibble" Why would you eat kibble? LOL
Can you tell me what "kibbe" is? I am guessing something middle Eastern. Hope your time with your friend was relaxing and fun!

Please feel free to yell at me as much as you like about drs. I know, I have to suck it up. I used to be very good about getting to all of my appt's. I have a gyn that I really like, but when Gary got sick and we were on Medicaid, I had to go to a very crappy clinic where the dr made me feel even crappier.

Side story: when I was pg with Caitlyn, I went to a group but usually only saw my one favorite dr and the midwife. One time I got stuck with an appt with Dr. C who was obnoxious to me. I was 6 months pg and had been having ctx. We were going to PA for the weekend and I asked what i should do. He's non-helpful comment was "Don't go into labor." A few weeks later I *was* in labor and maybe had he taken me more seriously I would have not been in the hospital and then on bed rest with a 2 yo at home.

Can you guess who the dr in the clinic was? Yup, Mean Dr. C.

So now I have "real" insurance again, my old favorite dr is on the plan and I am embarrassed to go back to him. He is going to yell at me for being seen for so long. Nah, not really but you know what I mean!

Linda S- oh wow, its so crazy now for you. I wish I lived closer, I needed to feel needed sometimes, and I could help you and not feel all lazy bum-ish at the same time.
What are reading on Kindle?
And good luck with the house inspection. Fingers crossed tight that it goes perfectly for you!!! As with all of the house stuff too.

I love that photo Trudy! Looks sooooo relaxing! Bet it was nice to veg a bit together. Is DD's boyfriend coming out by you too? They have been together for a long time, right?

I am conflicted too about the mammo/radiation stuff, but I am now at elevated risk of breast cancer. A few years ago I had some weird type of calcifications biopsied, that don't cause cancer but is linked to cancer.
And speaking of biopsies, Gary cancelled his appt. I knew he would. He hasn't even gotten his blood work for it done.
I flip between trying to lecture him, guolt him, ingore him, yell, back to guilt, rationalize to him back to ignore it all. Ignoring it is the easiest because I am not getting through to him in any other way. :(

Laurie- sweet deal on the car!!!!

heather- I am having a hard time scrapping too but I don't have the excuse of the kids...... except that my kids make it very hard to get pics of them with them not making goofy faces.

Hugs and love and all good things to everyone!

Donna- how hard for you it must be to have your mom far away. But it sounds like the place is perfect for her. I wonder if places like that will start doing Skype sessions with the residents. It would be really awesome if they could.

Hugs to you!

Morning all... just like Chris it is a dark, gloomy :rain: day today. I can only pop in here for a couple of minutes as I have to start work 1/2hr earlier than usual. But that's ok cause its FRIDAY! DD and I spent most of the afternoon on the deck in the sun reading our books and chatting it up. It's so nice to have her home!

Chris - Yes my Heather and her boyfriend Jonah have been together for almost four yrs now, yikes I just realized, that's a long time! No he cannot join us this trip as work for him was slow this spring and he just can't afford to miss any more work time. He love to come to our West Coast, but it just was not in the cards for him... too expensive! We even offered to pay his way out, but he just can't miss the work. Oh well maybe next time. Sure hope that you get inspired to do some scrapping soon, I just hate it when the mojo decides to go on vacation!

Donna - How sad that your mom is so far from you now, but how wonderful that she is so very happy in her new home!! That is something that is rare for most who are entering into the final chapters of their lives! to you and your mom, she is lucky you are such a great daughter!!

Well gotta run and get to work :mmph: have a great one everyone

well, as i expected, hubby was p*&&^% that i was having some trees taken down. the "surprise" was ruined because my tree guy didn't come yesterday because his truck broke down. so he rescheduled for today. then my husband decided to take today off work, so i had to tell him that the tree guy was coming. he's still pouting because he said "i LIKE cutting down trees!!!" well, one of them he NEVER could or would have done. so, now it's raining. so no tree guy again. what a pain.

Chris, your Good Gynie won't even blink if you come back. just imagine how many different insurance stories and situations he hears every day! just GO. and about your hubby: my husband always gets benign skin cancer from the sun. i was the one who told him to get to the dermatologist when he kept picking at something on his face early on. he tisked and all that Man Crap. then i said to him: "know what??? i have enough to think about taking care of the stuff that I have to think of and take care of around my OWN health. i'm not interested in being your mother. take responsibility for YOURSELF. i'm not going to do it." can you say something like this to your guy? then turn him loose. i think he needs to understand that he is not your responsibility as far as body upkeep goes. sheesh. men. all you can do is decide what YOU are going to do.

Donna, glad your mom is settling in well! and the lunchroom table thing is SO nice.

Trudy, sounds like you and DD are enjoying your time together. it's beautiful.

Chris, kibbe is midde-eastern. basically it's ground lamb mixed with spices, pine nuts and bulgur wheat, then baked. (when i make it at home.)at this restaurnt i went to, though, they do a thing where the meaty mix is inside a kind of "shell" made with the same stuff, only more wheat in the mix. it's shaped kind of like a football, in this instance.then they bake/fry it. it was served up with a salad with lovely lemon dressing. yum! and lunch was FUN. it's always nice to talk to people with whom you have DECADES of life in common.

i went to the laundomat to do some laundry this morning. the drought is starting to make me nervous about our well.... so now i'm drying everything at home. with my crabby husband in the same house. :washing: :mmph:

hope things are happy where you are.

We are finally getting some much needed rain today, although I'm not sure it's enough.

DH has to stick around to approve some new software launch so our evening plans have been postponed until tomorrow.

The boys and I need to finish up our Olympic unit study and my oldest owes me two math worksheets before he leaves for summer camp on Monday.

As always, I have some cleaning to do, but I don't want to!

Have a blessed day!

Hi ladies..................

Will I ever get back to a routine?? so I can come chatter everyday again???

Jesse finished up Superhero camp today...he loved it!!! they full on superhero costumes all week...lots of games and contests....Cameran had Soccer camp through yesterday...he made some new friends...so I have been running a lot this week.

I have to brag on my little Jaid-a-bug today...she will be four next month...and she loves loves loves puzzles....I have been picking them up in second hand shops for .50 to $2 so she has a good variety...I picked up one Sat that showed a raccoon on the outside and it was 24 piece (she can work up to 48 pc)...opened it up yesterday and it was small pieces and 60 of them and a UNITED STATES puzzle....well, she wanted to do it so badly...and wanted NO HELP....so I finally said okay, give it a go....she worked on this puzzle for an hour and half non stop and had 75% of it put together...I finally asked her did she want me to help her..she said that would be okay.....I think she would have finished it by then, but she had two pieces in the wrong place (but they looked like they went there by colors)....I was so impressed with her!!!! WOOOOOOOOOW!!!

Anyway...that's it for me....

Today has been about recycling. Gee ... we had TONS of stuff to get rid off. We left with 19 bags of stuff - and brought 4 back home. Not junk - we shopped LOL

Other than having ants that decided our living room is a great place to mate ... everything's fine in my part of the world.

Tired now ... 9.30pm here ... time for another episode of Sopranos and some snack. We just started with season 3. I absolutely love the show so far. BTW, Chris ... how many bridges are there in New Jersey?!?! Bridges, bridges, bridges ... that's all you see in Sopranos LOL
