Happy Friday and it is the 13th!

It should be a good day and weekend for me and I hope for all of you too. My dad's Drs appt went fine yesterday. The Dr is adjusting the blood pressure medicine which might have caused the issue when he was driving. He sees the vertigo specialist on Monday in case that contributed/caused the dizziness before the accident. I am glad that he is making sure all of the bases are covered.

This means we are good to go for my weekend away.he is driving to my house and then my mom will drive the rest of the way. he is a bit nervous about being on the highway at this point. I guess that is 100% natural. I have my book packed- Stephen King's End of Watch- and my butt is ready to be planted on the sofa and on the deck chair. My hand is ready for coffee and for wine :)

I guess I should get myself together. I still need to pack clothes/meds. That will take me a while.
I am not sure if I will be online at all so I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend!

good morning - what a fun fun trip. And we saw the red-billed tropic bird plus two other birds that were possible but not given a leach's storm petrel and a manx shearwater. And both were seen but I only saw the shearwater. But I got to see a loon and I have never seen one so that was cool! The trip did not go quite as planned which made it even more fun. The morning started out so cold and the ferry over to Vinalhave Island it was cold but saw guillemot and wilson's petrel and eider ducks. But once we arrived on the island the sun came out and it was gorgeous. Not a cloud in the sky. Walked through the island and had lunch lobster rolls very good and then met the other birders (there were 5 of us total more eyes the better) waiting for the captain to take us to seal island. We the boat left at 1:45pm and back around 6pm. Well the last ferry back to the mainland was at 4:45pm. Opps that was not good. But we decided to worry about that later. So out to seal island. Turns out that the bird has been coming since 2005. And they know this bird's habits. He likes to come out from his roost sometime between 2:30 and 3:30 for his daily bath. And OMgosh he was right on cue. And OMgosh he is gorgeous. And thanks to my new camera I got great photos. But wow is my new lens heavy. I have to get used to it but it will get better. So we also saw puffins so cute, razor bills, mures, guillemots, arctic and common terns, harlequin duck, eider ducks, great cormorants and a double crested cormorant, harbor seals, spotted seals, dolphins and the cool a mola mola (sunfish). Then on the way back we went past another island where were saw yellowlegs sandpipers but not sure if greater or lesser, and my absolute joy was the bald eagles. Well all was my joy! So we got back and low and behold there is an airline that based in Rockland will fly over to the island and take us back. Doug called and they came. We had to find a way to the airport and the taxi service was not answering but we met a nice birder at the terminal and he drove us. He was so nice. Got to the airport and the airplane was already there. So we got in and were back at the mainland in less that 15 mins. It was a single prop plane. But it was so fun. And OMgosh I felt so special to have airplane come and get us. LOL. And I thought it would cost a fortune but nope $65 each. Took a taxi back to the terminal and had a fantastic dinner outside covered with view of the harbor. Back to hotel to check photos and crashed. The bed and breakfast was clean and quiet and had an awesome breakfast each morning. So on Thursday morning we went to look for the little egret a European bird. Again the weather was perfect. We first to Rockport and then two to marsh areas where it had been seen but no luck. Had lunch and check again and still no luck but saw great egrets, snowy egrets, song sparrows, rough winged swallows, barn swallows, willet, and another bald eagle, gold finches. Was a happy photographer. But again it is heavy and I have to build up strength but I love it! I will scrap and post photos soon. Now today Luther is at doggie day care. But he was very happy to see me. Yea! Boys are at work so I am in quiet.

Chris I am so glad your dad check out so well. Must have been so scary for you to hear he was in an accident. Glad you both will have a great weekend away and it sounds like the weather will be warm! Seems like the weather was good here as it was in Maine. Enjoy the weekend!

Jean it was a fantastic trip. Always fun seeing new birds. But those shearwaters and petrels are so fast and low flying that I am amazed anyone can photograph them. Have fun at the meetings.

Felis hope things are good.

Waving to Trudy in France! Rae thinking of you!

Have a great day all!

Hello girls,
I'm little bit late ( or earlier for today :) post), but I really don't have what to share. My melancholy continue and I think I'll take few days silence. It's not something bad (the melancholy), it's even romantic at some strange way. I need to do as when we was teenage and to plug off myself from everything else (outside the music) for a little.

Chris, I'm so happy that you'll be possible to make this little escape! Take Gary and the dogs and forget phone and every information channels. And get much sun on your skin and sand. Do the kids will come too or only your parents? I hope that they soon will clarify what is wrong with your dad and it will be something easy to control! This book is a little bit too serious as a vacation reading, I would prefer something with more love and less plot for tracking ;) , but it depends from the taste, hope to enjoy it!

Jean, I'm sure you'll be perfect as usual on your talk on Saturday! Enjoy till updated it! Hope you'll have good weather too, here right now is perfect with a little rain!

I can't wait to catch all vacation stories, girls! Hope we all to have wonderful weekend and weather as they prefer it (Chris for you sun :) ) !

Good morning, ladies. I think mostly being off the computer for the week was a good thing for me. I needed to unwind and deal with all the family stuff. I'm not going to talk about B for a bit as it is stressing me out. Things are not progressing very well and the medical system is a joke. So....enough about that for now.

We are leaving this afternoon for 2 nights at the trailer. We'll come back first thing Sun morning so we can spend the afternoon with B. I am looking forward to having a whole day tomorrow to watch shows, read, listen to podcasts as I walk Taz and just relax. I don't know if I'll scrap at all. Maybe, we'll see.

Chris - hope you have a wonderful wkend. Sounds like you are getting away with your family. Have fun.

Nancy - I'm so jealous of your trip, sounds like so much fun. You got a new camera????

Felis - hope you feel better and come out of your funk soon. Some quiet alone time can be beneficial. Hope it helps.

Jean, Trudy, everyone else....hope all is well. I know Trudy is in Paris and having the time of her life, I'm sure.

Have a great day, everyone.

Lovely again today but it's going to get too hot for me soon. DH did his bird survey this morning and some birds, like robins and red-winged blackbirds, are in post-breeding flocks. They were coming to eat mulberries. Still working on the program today and then off tomorrow morning to talk about online historic newspapers.

Chris, wonderful that Dad is OK and you're going to PA for the weekend. Enjoy!

Nancy, welcome home. What a fabulous trip. So glad you saw the Red-billed Tropicbird. Everything sounds super. And I love flying in little planes like that. Sorry about the Little Egret though. We saw one in Massachusetts many years ago not knowing it was present. Not an easy ID when you aren't expecting it. Looking forward to seeing photos!

Felis, sorry the melancholy persists, but if you need quiet time, then that's what to do.

Thinking of Trudy and Rae.
