It's Friday! The last Friday of the month too. I am going to be thrilled to close this month out. If only I can get past the snowstorm tonight. It doesn't look like my area is going to get hit too hard. We are in a 4-7" range. But down the shore and then Long Island and New England are looking at blizzard conditions. If any of you are in the middle of that, I am sending good thoughts. @mom2triplets04 Hope you aren't going to get hit too hard.
However, I am going to have to keep myself busy so I don't worry about Scott. He is going *camping* tonight.
(I know!! He is so not my kid!!!)
He and a bunch of friends have plans to camp (in a cabin at least) and I am happy for him that he is doing something he loves. On the other hand, jeez Louise!! Sure go camping in the middle of the forest during a snowstorm. The people he is going with are experienced winter campers, people he went to college with so all involved in environmental science. But still.
At least I will never have to worry about Caitlyn doing that. heh

My big project yesterday was scrapping a page for a Feb challenge. It is very funny, I think you are all going to laugh at it/me. :p

No plans today other than getting everything outside ready for snow. Then watching out the window for the snow to start. Then cursing at the snow. Yup a typical day for me.

Have a happy and warm day wherever you are
Hugs!

@LSlycord It sounds like you have everything going smoothly with the dogs. One word of caution-- we did all of the same things as you are doing when we fostered Whisky. They would go through periods of being absolutely fine with each other. Then something would trigger W (she was a street dog so there was a lot of resources guarding going on) and then they would fight. I checked in with the trainer we used for Jaida and she said that was common, as the "original" dogs realized that the new one wasn't a novelty or wasn't going away if they ignored her long enough.
Not saying this will happen, but to be aware that it could. We were caught by surprise after they have been so calm with each other and then got into a fight seemingly out of nowhere and there was biting involved.

On that happy note ;) what else did you write about? Oh how nice! A freeze warning! /s Hope you stay warm and the pool filter keeps everything moving. You will be proud of me, I did in front of my lamp and remembered to take some Vit D.
We still cannot figure out what happened to Jaida, we initially thought that she and W got into a scrap/playfight but the vet didn't think it was from teeth. And even if the dogs were barking, I def. didn't hear any yelps. *no idea*
One other thing, do you use hand signals with your commands? We do albeit not always consistently. I am sure you can use them to work with Decker. Give all babies pets and belly rubs from me!

@Vicki Robinson Hope you are able to pop in soon. FYI-- you can always write as little or as much as you like. I tend to be.... let's say "loquacious," it sounds much nicer than long-winded. LOL!!!
I know we would all love to see some of your current art projects if you ever want to share

GRRR! My weather widget icon keeps flashing red snowflakes at me. I know! It is going to snow today!! Can you please leave me alone?? *cries*

@BrightEyes I hear ya, 4.30 is way too early to be awake, but that seems to be my brain's favorite time to stress about something. You must have been so happy to be texting with DD#2 and you deserve (another *wink*) PJ day. I am thinking about doing that today.
Oh-- I was corrected by Caitlyn, I spelled Linguini O'Brien's name wrong. I thought it was with an A, not an E. Wouldn't want him/her/them to be offended but that mistake *G*
That is my hardest thing with commenting in the gallery too- I feel like I always use amazing or wonderful and way too many !!!!!

@taxed4ever I don't blame you one bit about the wisdom teeth still being in your mouth. Scott still has one, impacted and the dr said until it bothers him, to let it stay. One of mine had to be chipped out of the bone in pieces so I tend to agree. Hopefully being able to go to an oral surgeon will make the procedure much easier than before.
Good for you for having some cake with your sisters, hope that it didn't upset your stomach from the carbs though.
I didn't clean here other than the kitchen. I was busy rat-sitting for a while. It was a very hard decision to make you know. House cleaning? Playing with baby rats? I had to flip a coin to decide. Hahaha!!!
The babies were so much fun to watch. I put them on Cait's bed and let them run all around and explore. They were shy at first but the next thing I knew, they were all over me. I was able to get a few cute pictures of them. A lot of blurry ones too.
I hope that you are able to get started painting again. Is the heron a commission or just for you?

@tjscraps please never think you can't post because you think you are a Debbie Downer. Tell us anything that is going on, good or bad or whatever. (I mean seriously-- look at my first post yesterday, I was talking about *pretzels!* ) OTOH, don't ever feel pressured to post either
I am keeping all of my fingers and toes crossed that Covid stays far away from your house. It has to be very worrisome to know what has to get done and how long it could be delayed.

@bcgal00 We all love you so much!! I hope that the market is very good to you <3

Trina-- your DH is so sweet!!!! What a beautiful bouquet. He is a Keeper! (Good thing after 18 years LOL)
And congrats on a GSO!!

@Cherylndesigns Gah! I hate when I do that and lose an entire post. Hugs back!

Good morning all. Hope everyone is doing well. I think that I'm going to make a paper chain to count down the things that I'm looking forward to. The trip to Iowa which coincides with the day Syd finds out about her admission to UF. The Billy Joel concert, the Garth Brooks concert and the trip to Europe. LOL I really don't think that I've adjusted to this being older thing at all.

Dogs are doing well. They are all staying separated but they can be in the same room now. Decker is much more comfortable---he is sleeping well. Yesterday, I watched some TV in the family room while Brian had our two upstairs. He climbed on my lap and took a nap. If we had no other dogs, I'd think we were well on our way. However, we have two other dogs so it's going to be awhile. Shaun and Syd get mad because I'm so cautious but that's just me...I'd rather prevent something than fix it.

@faerywings oh my goodness. I can't believe Scott is camping in this weather...although I must admit that I felt better when I saw that it was in a cabin. Tell him that his O-auntie said to be sure that he has plenty of food and water. Just in case they get in a situation where they need to stay a few more days than planned. Thanks for the example of what happened with W. It makes me feel good about the fact that I'm insisting on everyone being very cautious. I DO NOT want a dog fight. I mean, dogs fight but I don't want a serious dog fight. I don't know that I'll ever feed them together...at least not for a very long time. Andie and Hayden are free fed and they get along fine even when they share food (except treats because Andie is fixated on treats)! But I hope that we can have them all co-existing in the house soon. Very glad that you used your light...and very glad that I still have sweatshirts because they are getting a workout in this cold snap.

@bcgal00 selling a house is always a little bit stressful but it sounds like you have a great plan. And all of that excitement will surely lead to lots of scrapbooking pages. Hoping that you get lots of good offers to choose from.

@taxed4ever glad that the dentist wasn't horrible. My mom wound up with a dry socket once and she hated the dentist after that. I can't wait to see the heron. Your creative talents are amazing to me. Glad that you were able to be "bad" for just a very short time and got some yummy cake.

@tjscraps how sweet that your hubby decided to get you flowers. Glad that you dropped in to let us know how you are doing. You have really been going through it...and like Chris said, if it helps at all to post, please do it. This is the judgment free zone and I love that!

@Cherylndesigns I lost a long post the other day. I was soooo mad. I just got up and walked away! I know that we can save drafts now, so I don't know why I don't make that a habit. But I don't. Grrrr...

Ok all, I'm off to start my day!

Tired & hungry - on the verge of hangry. Just popping in quick to say: Mårten's got a doppelganger in the White house!!!

Might be back after dinner (testing a new recipe) ... or I'll be back tomorrow. It's Friday & Friday nights means time for TV & chips with hubby ... and my crochet project ... and candy ... and probably Mårten in my lap.

Morning everyone! I am doing a happy dance as it is finally a fog free day!!! It is however very cold outside -4C. The hummingbird feeder was frozen solid when I woke up so that was the first thing to do this morning, thaw the feeder for the poor little things. I could hear them chirping away at me when I brought it in as if to say "How the hell do you expect us to drink from that??" LOL. They were buzzing me as I got it put back outside, poor things! Don't know why they hang around all winter, I mean if I was a bird I would be flying away somewhere a lot warmer in the winter! Today I need to pick up my grocery order and that is my excitement for the day! I will be getting some layouts uploaded to the gallery and hopefully catch up a bit more on my commenting. If it warms up a bit I will take a nice long walk. I got out yesterday in the late afternoon when the fog finally lifted, but man it was chilly and there was a bit of a breeze, so my hands and face were pretty cold by the time I got back. Today I will wear mitts and a warmer jacket! Still have not gotten DH's birthday card done, better get off my butt and do that soon!

@faerywings - I can't believe its the end of this month finally!! January always drags out doesn't it?? I also can't believe that Scott is going camping!! Sounds like something our son would have done though too, he used to be big into mountain climbing and I was always so worried about him being out there dangling off of a cliff somewhere LOL. Hope that you don't get any of the snow that they are predicting, it will be a good day to just stay in the jammies!

@LSlycord - sounds like you have everything under control with the dogs! Isn't that what Mom's do? Make sure that everything runs smoothly with out any fighting? Yes I was bad and had cake, but at least BlackForest cake is not too sweet and mostly covered in yummy whipped cream which I can have on Keto, however I am sure the whipped cream had far too much sugar in it too. Oh well it was just one tiny piece and I only really had it because my one sister freaks out about me being on Keto. However she has no right to tell me how to eat right?? I just did it to keep the piece  . I will post a photo of the Heron when I am done with it, but don't hold your breath too long waiting for it LOL it could take me months.

@tanteva - Hope you enjoy your new meal and you get over being Hangry! Sounds like a great night in front of the TV for you and your hubby! How cute that Marten has a twin in the white house! That farm cat has really climbed up the social ladder!

@tjscraps - Yup your hubby is a keeper! Lovely flowers and I hope that both of you will be on your way to a full recovery! Take care of each other! (((hugs)))

@Cherylndesigns - Uggh I hate when I lose those long posts and it used to happen to me all of the time when we had the old forums! Hope you do better with posting today if you pop in!

Ok I am now running late to get my groceries as Heather has called and I had to put this post on hold for a bit. Have a great day everyone, it will be a busy afternoon for me trying to catch up on everything now. TTYL!!

@faerywings Well, this is what I found when I searched the weather. Right now it is snowing but just flurries. We do have a warning WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 PM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 11 inches. I hate the snow. However, my dog loves it. She is in puppy camp right. now. We have been having some issues with her and found a puppy camp but now they don't want her every day. They said 3 times a week. So this week she went Mon, Wed and Friday and they suggested we get another trainer. I have a husky 9 months old so she's a toddler and yes she knows her commands but you may have to ask her a few times before she listens. At times I think she is deaf because we now are doing sign languages with her and she seems to follow our hand motions more than our words. Anyway, we have hired another trainer which will come to our house. This will be her 5th trainer we have tried. Sure hope this one helps her. She starts this Tuesday coming up.

Okay, now that I have my "grousing over my lost post over with" - Good afternoon everybody!!

Chris @faerywings SNOW???? BLIZZARD WARNINGS?????? SCOTT GOING CAMPING????? Is he cray-cray??? I won't camp under the most perfect, ideal, tropical, bugless - I'm running out of wonderful adjectives here. I did hear that your area was supposed to get it!

I meant to tell you that I'm so looking for those snacks! I love Pirate's Booty and we order it by the box. Do you like those? Some people have never heard of them. I eat a couple of small bags when I need a little sweetness. I'm going to look for those others, though.

Linda @LSlycord I'm happy to hear that your puppers is starting to slightly adjust. You've been having cold weather too, haven't you? My daughter has been complaining to high Heaven and she's in SW FL. I'm not sure where you are? North of that?

Trudy @taxed4ever so glad the fog has finally lifted! That has to get old and to see the sun - oh my!! Ours is shining so beautifully today - I don't need my light when it's this bright. I had it on yesterday, though. It was a little overcast, but the sun came out later in the day. it's only 45 today, but with the sun out, it doesn't seem so bad. It's supposed to warm up again in a few days.

Laura @mom2triplets04 are you getting that blizzard too, or were you just warning Chris? Wow, sounds like you've really got your hands full with your dog. We had a rescue that we trained out the wazzoo - we even hired a guy who trained German Shepherds for the State Police. Talk about militant!! He scared me!!

NOTE: I've been c/ping as I go today. My laptop is acting up - I think that's what happened yesterday. I'm sure it wants to update and restart but I don't want to put that new Windows 11 on it - it's got nothing I want and definitely nothing I need, but it's being all bratty and probably will drive me cuckoo until I do it. GRRRRRRR

Hugs to all and Happy Friday!

@faerywings you don't want to think about snow, but I can't help it. A week ago Monday we got 15" and DH couldn't even go to H&S. A little of it melted but then we got a few more inches Sunday but that got plowed so DH didn't miss another H&S this week. It has snowed a little several days since but that doesn't get us plowed again. We had deer tracks in the backyard yesterday. My art teacher hasn't felt good about us coming to her "other" house and I don't want to deal with the weather either, so have been missing that. A good thing has been talking to a distant cousin and working on getting her info on our shared family. And we're still deep into our annual madness called Puzzle Up. This year the 50 questions have 599 separate answers.

@taxed4ever that card for you DD is so gorgeous. No matter how long the wait, look forward to your heron.

@tanteva I'm sure your Friday evening was a cozy success. Any progress on researching the ancestry of your friend? I think that is such a fun idea to do. Hope you find a link.

A snowy shout out to all.

Thank you all for the welcome! I won't be able to chat this much every day, but today ... well ....

My DH (Charlie) had major back surgery in October and all went very well. He wants to be able to golf again sooner rather than later (me too, if you get my drift) so he's in pretty aggressive physical therapy. We went to his surgeon yesterday to address the various ongoing aches and pains, which as it turns out, are probably not spine-related at all. As the fresh-faced 18-year-old surgeon (not really!! but at our age, everyone else looks very young) explained, Charlie's experiencing normal post-op symptoms, plus the PT is working muscles that haven't been used in a long time (we didn't tell him they are muscles that have NEVER been used before - lol). So all was good there ...

On the way back to the car, I noticed blood oozing through my jeans from where I had a growth removed from my leg on Wednesday. Since I have a condition that prevents my blood from clotting properly, this was not entirely unexpected and since we were right by Urgent Care we stopped in. 90 minutes later I was back home, changing out of those jeans, and guess what ... the clotting agent the doc had applied had slipped off and ... well you get the idea. I called for Charlie and asked him to bring me some gauze and that we'd need to go back to Urgent Care. After what seemed like 65 minutes, he handed me something. No dear, that's gauze TAPE — what part of "I'm bleeding all over everything" didn't you understand? Lol. Back to Urgent Care to get more clotting agent and then back hope to keep my leg up REALLY high. Did I mention that I'll be 67 in a couple of weeks and keeping my leg up REALLY high is a pipe dream?

So tell me ... TMI???

All is good this morning, by yesterday was a total waste. Luckily my Artful Expressions for Color Play was up and ready to roll. Today and tomorrow I'll get all of my "end of month/new month" stuff done —kinda like what you all do with challenges and posts and stuff and then I'll begin on February's Color Play and interim new releases. Seems like a never-ending cycle and, for me at least, it takes a bit to recover from the rush of finalizing a new collection.

@Cherylndesigns - usually once I've started a post, even if I walk away or close the browser without saving, the minute I click in the post content area I get a pop asking if I want to use the draft I started. DId that not happen for you?

@faerywings and @mom2triplets04 -I hate snow! I severely broke my ankle 12 years ago taking photos in a rare Northern California snow "storm". It gives me pain to this day, so I'm hoping you both stay put! Given the weather so much of us are facing, perhaps I should keep my annoyance at our 30 degree mornings/60 degree days to myself! lol.

@tjscraps - he's a keeper for sure!

@tanteva - HANGRY! I'll have to remember that!

I'm late getting in here. Been busy most of the day getting the Color Play LOs done and posted. WOW,,, they are spectacular this month. I was so busy working on them that both cups of coffee ended up getting cold before I drank even half of one!!! And when my coffee gets cold it means I am majorly busy. Reheated both but ended up giving up on the 2nd cup...after it went cold for the 3rd time!! And lunch time came and went without me noticing. Glad I fixed homemade Mac and Cheese yesterday so think I will have 'lupper' - as my kids called it for lunch and supper in one meal. Think I will indulge and have apple crisp for dessert. :D

Really hoping those of you in the path of the nor'easter will keep power and stay warm and safe. Time to hunker down and stay off the roads.

My computer seems to be saving drafts automatically as the green light by draft symbol goes on and off as I add more to the post. Hate when I lose a long post. I got a notice from Windows that my computer is not capable of using Windows 11.... ROFLOL.... as I don't WANT Windows 11 on my computer!!! :p:rolleyes:o_O;):p So I guess I will have to just bumble along with Windows 10.

No personals today... the brain is tired and the butt is sore from sitting at the computer. CYL

Haven't done any research the last few days, but weirdly enough, I found that we both have ancestry in a completely different town, than where we both grew up. In a different county even. I do hope to find a connection between us there! Then I can e-mail here an tell that we are related and ask her who she thinks it's coolest to be related to, me or Buzz Aldrin. LOL

No, but I need to look into that. I thought I could surely find my post in drafts, but it was "Gone Girl". The posts used to be able to be retrieved, but this one was GONE.

How are you both doing this evening??? You've both had some problems, it sounds like. Sending love and hugs.
