We all made it to Friday! Again, I don't know what it matters, it isn't like I have a Monday-Friday, 9-5 type job. We all made it to Friday! Again, I don't know what it matters, it isn't like I have a Monday-Friday, 9-5 type job. :biggrin1:

It was nice to be out with my mom yesterday. I was exhausted by the time I got home but I liked spending some time with her. We went to Target and she brought me some new underwear. Moms- gotta love 'em. Then we went to BJs and I grabbed the wrong water filters so now I have to go and return them. Ugh.

No one was in the mood to eat dinner so they all grabbed something on their own when they were hungry. It was great not having to cook. Today Cait's friend will be here for dinner and she is vegan so it will be interesting. Leah is also going to be here so we have three semi-omnivores (no beef/pork), 2 vegetarians, and one vegan. But it will be nice to all sit down and have a nice time.

When my mom and I were at lunch, she warned me that my brother is already asking about what I want to do for my birthday (5 months away) and what we should do for my dad's 80th b-day (In November!!!). For me, he wanted to have a party at his house or go out to a restaurant, both choices would mean that Gary wouldn't know if he would join us until that very last minute. I am not doing that. Nope. I told her that all I wanted was to have one of those blow-up, waving arm tube guys, and we all have to dance to a particular song, waving our arms along with it.

ARGH!!
I just lost the second part of this post! Thankfully I had copied some of it but not all.

So the birthday party that I want is to be with my close family dancing around like loons based on an episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Then I was going on about my day today but the main thing I need to do is call the hospital billing dept about my MRI I had done last year. My insurance company denied my appeal of medical necessity. They part for part of the MRI but not all of it. How the heck can they do that? It isn't like I have a choice it the matter not do I, as a patient, know what they are doing once they put you in the machine. I had gotten prior authorization, which you would think would be enough. It looks like I am going to be responsible for another $600. :mad2:
I also am going to call my breast surgeon's office since I am having just a regular mammo next week and then I am supposed to have the second MRI in April to see if the spots that were picked up last time have changed. I don't want to get stuck paying another $600. Maybe they should have me go for a Diagnostic mammo with an ultrasound instead of the MRI.
I also don't want to not have an MRI done if there is another cancer episode starting. I would much rather find out about it now than wait until it is much farther along.
The US has the worst health insurance racket.

Anyway... I better get off the computer soon or my whole day is going to be wasted online. :D

Hugs!!!

Nancy- wow, that is good that the NHL suspended that player. Too bad that the refs didn't get called out for it. How did your AHL goalie do last night?
OK-- even in my craziest anorexia days, I would never have walked an hour and a half in this weather so I could eat! (I would just starve myself the day before and the day after -- much warmer LOL) Yikes! I am glad that she accepted a ride home.
Poor Luther!! Hope his ear is better today.
Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened

The funniest book I have ever read and that is NOT hyperbole.
I think I bought my copy used for $13- best $$ I ever spent.

My mom and Arlene had a nice time together at the ceramics class. I am so happy for them both. Leah is too. They can talk to each other about some of the things that they normally talk/complain to us. It is a win-wine-win-win! :pound:

Rae- oh no, poor Taz looking for D! Bet he was thrilled when D got home. I love wagging tails!
The employees at VV must laugh when they see you walk in the door. Congrats on another pant size.

Trudy- have a great time at your son's I hope that you have lots of time to play with the grands and to scrap a bit too. I guess I thought you would only be gone for the weekend, but until Wed- you are gonna love it but be tired by the end, I am sure. I know I would be. Nice that your son came and got you and that your Gary will be coming out for the weekend.

Felis- 12*F is really cold, and I am glad that your dog is inside even if he is unhappy about it. Good for you for being irresponsible about going outside. You need that!
I used to use Badger Sleep Balm too and then I started to make my own. For me, it helped me get to sleep but not stay asleep. Do you have an iPod/mp3 player? I think that it was Vicki, but someone here told me about Insight Timer. It is a free app in iTunes and in google play. There some really good deep sleep meditation that I use when I wake up and have a hard time getting back to sleep. Lots of different languages are there too.

Jean- huhn- how weird about the yogurt- I wonder if it is the sugar in it? or can it be acidic? So strange! That bites about needing your crown replaced. (haha Bad pun alert!)
Every night I show Caitlyn that it is after 5 pm and not 100% dark outside.
:clap2:

Felis- It amazes me that you have so many homeless dogs near you. I don't think that I have ever seen a homeless dog in my area. We have found some loose dogs but have had collars and were able to get them back to their owners. Feral cats are around but not many.
So sad. :(

good morning - Luther is off to day care and the boys are at work and I am home alone. Yea! Does that sound bad LOL. My DH was home all day yesterday working and so he is upstairs and I am downstairs so we don't see each other. I guess it is just more quiet. Well my Devils lost 3-0. But they worked hard though their coach in the his post game interview was not so sure and thought they could all play better and they could shoot the puck on goal more. I was bummed but came home and the Ducks won in a shoot out winner by Adam Henrique. It sucks he is not on my team anymore. I swear I can tie the bad results my team is going through to the day they traded Henrique away. Now with the All Star break with no games today or Monday I will catch up on shows. I love the show Riverdale which is a dark version of the Archie comics. I hooked my girlfriend and her daughter on the show. Cooked a hamburger dinner but it was great as it had a glazed mushroom sauce that you put on top of the burger and my DH loves mushrooms so he was happy! Tonight I am being good and having salmon.

Chris your time with your mom sounds so fun! You two have a wonderful relationship. And it is being passed on with your kids. Wow your family really plans in advance but these are pretty big milestone birthdays. I want to see the video when you all are dancing. Good luck with dinner!

Felis wow that is a lot of homeless dogs. I am like Chris and we don't have homeless dogs it is something most towns really frown upon but there are lots of feral cats on the south side of my town being fed by a nice lady. But it sounds like you understand your homeless dogs. My Luther is 119 lb and I without my trainer I too could never have walked him as he is just too strong. But she was my savior and he is excellent now. He walks completely differently with my DH but that is he problem as Luther walks with me and does not pull.

Trudy have fun with the Grandkids. I am sure I would be exhausted at the end. And yes to have Marchand at the All Star game is I feel make the All Star game and the NHL look really bad. It is making a joke of the NHL saying it wants to take these types of head hits out of the game. Just my two cents.

Rae that is so sweet that Taz is looking for D. I know Luther late in the day is always looking my my DH and son. Congrats on still losing weight but adding more fruits and veggies. I am so impressed!

Jean wow that is something about yogurt and gums. I too eat a yogurt each day but knock on wood I have had not problems. Feel better. We are getting warmer this weekend too!

Have a great day all.

Good morning, ladies. Just got back from getting my blood work done. It'll be interesting to see if my cholesterol has improved after these latest dietary changes. I know its not all about the diet, it can be influenced by exercise and hereditary genes too. So, I'll see what the numbers are and then take a few more months to really put in an effort for cardio exercises. That will be my last effort that might help, then it'll be time to figure out if I'll go on meds for it. In the meantime, I am feeling better and better. I thought I felt good this past year on the keto diet but now that I am following a paleo/autoimmune low inflammatory foods diet I am feeling even better, if that is possible. So that tells me that my body had a lot of inflammation, with a lot of it disappearing once I went keto, but now its even better. My last problem has been a very slight headache that comes and goes quite often, never bad enough to bother me much but more of an awareness, a slight pressure/ache in my head. I've always thought it was from being on the computer so many hours a day. I decided this wk to try a test of eliminating the SF syrups I put in my coffee (Torani, Da Vinci) which has splenda in it. I have a feeling that is the culprit. Its day two and no headache today. If I remain headache free for another 5-6 days, I'll know that was it b/c I've never gone a day without the headache at some point. I've used artifical sweeteners in moderation for yrs and never thought it caused a problem with me but I have a feeling I was wrong. My head feels good this morning :) Luckily, since I like sweet coffee, I have toffee and vanilla flavored stevia which is an acceptable sweetener. If it turns out that I shouldn't be using the syrups, I will be placing an order in the US for lots of stevia flavors. Last night I popped into the local grocery store and they had one of my fave coffees on sale 1/2 off (Nabob) so stocked up on 6 tins and will put them in the freezer.

So, hope you are all not getting tired of my food related posts LOL. I do tend to go on about it, don't I? Sorry about that.

D came home last night and Taz went ballistic LOL. As soon as D sat in his chair, Taz hopped up on his chest, nuzzled in under his chin and stayed there for a few hours.

Tonight we're going out for dinner for my niece's birthday. Tomorrow morning bright and eary we head out to the ferry to head to Bowen Ilsland to see Bailey for the day and then will be home in the evening sometime.

Chris - that sucks that you got the wrong filters. I do stuff like that all the time. My hubs was complaining last night that he just heard that one of our Safeways is closing (we have 2 within a few blocks in either direction of us). I told him to suck it up and stop complaining, I told him you don't even have a big grocery store anywhere around you, so he doesn't get to complain. As for your birthday, I can just imagine that party LOL. I can just picture you all jumping around LOL.

Nancy - I love my time home alone too without anyone else around. When D is home, if I am down in my office too much I feel guilty b/c he wants to hang out together, watch a show. I'm always happy when he is away for a day or two and I have uninterrupted "me" time :) BTW, mushroom sauce sounds yummy for me but my hubs hates mushrooms. I fry mushrooms in ghee/coconut oil, then deglaze the pan with a few splashes of balsalmic vinegar, then add a bit of beef stock, a splash of water and soy (I use coconut aminos) and spices to put overtop of a burger.

I'm grabbing another coffee and getting to work. Busy day ahead of me before going out for dinner tonight. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

The sun is shining and it's 52* so really nice. I'm going to the library shortly and a little grocery shopping. No big plans.

Chris, we're going to be waiting for all those months for photos from your birthday party. Glad you had that nice day with your mom. And we all hate doing things like picking up the wrong filters. But we all do it. Don't know what is wrong with health care in this country that you can wind up with that big bill. Hoping you have a relaxing, warmer weekend.

Nancy, too bad about the game last night. Hope you have other cool things to do/watch during the break. I'll be posting a page with an old photo from Barnegat Light that I hope you see. I think the area must have changed a lot even before Sandy. We used to bird the NJ coast in November fairly often back in the day.

Rae, not to worry about your food postings. I think we all find it interesting or even for some life-changing. Hope you have a wonderful visit with B.

Trudy, we know you're enjoying the grands.

Felis, thanks for the information about the homeless dogs. It really is a sad situation. As others have said, we don't have a similar case. I do remember a time when a place I went birding sometimes had a dog pack but some of them had homes nearby. It wasn't comfortable but I never actually had a problem. I was perhaps more concerned by strange men who were sometimes around. Hope you get to enjoy the outdoors this weekend.

Hi everyone, just quickly checking in here to say hey!! I have been up since 4am. I took my son and DIL to the airport and sent them on their way at that ungodly hour. I have made the lunches for the kids, got them off to school, walked the dog and cleaned up the house. I am bushed, so I am heading to the couch for a nap LOL. The kids want Hamburgers tonight for supper, so I need to stop at the store before picking them up after school. Its a beautiful sunny day here in Courtney, so if I don't nap too long I might just get out for another walk with Stormy! I hope you are all having a great day and I hope to catch up with all of you tomorrow, if the grands don't have me too busy.
