Wow, we are 2/3 way through January. And we still haven't gotten any snow other than a few inches back in December. I'll take it. We have been getting a decent amount of rain and when I drove past the Reservoir the other day, it was almost full.

Crazy busy day yesterday. Unfortunately, the sofa wasn't delivered. It is now scheduled for tomorrow. *fingers crossed*
I was running a little late getting to my friend's and was surprised to see that she was home. We ended up talking quite a bit. She had Covid in Dec, got better, got a cold, and had been awfully sick ever since. Her son (16 yo) has Late Stage Lyme and I asked if she thought she had it too. She was on her way out to get tested for it. When she got back we talked some more, and in between my BFF was testing about my nephew who is still struggling with getting a job :( He is up to 50 applications/resumes sent out since Dec 1. Result: One interview is set for next week- I think it is just a screener. :/
It took a lot longer to finish there but it was fine. My friend had a bag of frozen food for me. It was stuff that she had bought for her son but since he is in a behavioral treatment center, she passed them along to me.

I did another yoga session and even though they are only 15 minutes and I modify the poses (the woman does a *lot* of plank poses), I was breathing hard at the end of it. Good thing I did it because dinner was delish and fattening LOL! The restaurant we went to was a Mexican Cantina and was decorated in Day of the Dead decor. Paintings, knick-knacks, a DotD altar (can't remember the name of that, anyone know the proper term?) My neighbors are really awesome to hang out with.

Today is going to be another busy day: house cleaning, yoga, and then a lot of scrapping that I am behind in. Also, I need to run out to get milk and Gary's Rxs. I want to start scanning my baby pics but I am not sure if I will have the time, it's a lower priority than some of the other scrap work I need to do. I wish I could scrap as fast as some of you.

Any tips?

@LSlycord Good luck with your birds, I hope you get to see lots of them
I love the idea of using LOs for your calendar. You are doing great with your photos and genealogy organization. It has to be very time-consuming. I have a good, but old Photo Scanner. It's an Epson Perfection. It scans slides and negatives which was super helpful when my mom gave me a box of negatives that my grandfather took in the mid-40s. It is probably very slow by today's standards and can only imagine how much a new one would cost. I know it is out of any price range for me :D
You make me smile every time you call me Little Chris. That was my nickname in college. We had another Chris in the friend group so I was dubbed Little Chris. Baby Chris was kind of cute, once my hair came in LOL
I sometimes feel that I am bossy and know-it-all-ish when it comes to your kids and I hope you know I do not mean it that way. But it does feel like yours are very similar to mine and since I have BTDT, I hope that I can reassure you that things tend to work out
What the heck? Did you find out if it is ok to have the feeder?

@BrightEyes Ooooh, your dinner sounds very good!
I thought you were in/near ABQ and was hoping you weren't too close to that. So scary.
Thank you so much for the tips on setting up the folders. it is very helpful. I can't imagine having photos that old. I hope that when you scan them, you are able to improve them a bit with editing.

@taxed4ever How was your hike? How nice that Linda will be able to go with you, especially if your group keeps getting canceled

@bcgal00 Yay that the computer is fixable! That is really awesome :D
Enjoy the yummy Costco food. Hope you got some fab photos of the swans

@Cherylndesigns How are the fur-babies doing? Give them extra pets and treats from Aunt Chris when you see them next.

@vickyday I wish I was more interested in writing down the family stories when I was younger. ATM, my parents are able to remember a lot but I know that it could be gone at any time. So sorry that you had to go through it with your mom :(
Sounds like you had a great visit with Carolyn and Ilene, not that I am surprised *wink*

Love to you all

Good morning. Quick in and out for me because we are heading to Gainesville to take Sydney to lunch. She has had an awful cold all week along with navigating the career fair, her first interview for a "real" job and the new classes, she is really tired. So it will be good for her to spend some time with us.

We had our first birds at the feeder this morning. Tufted titmouse. It may be a little too close to the lanai so Brian and I may be a problem out here. We will see. Definitely no HOA restriction. Just our mean spirited neighbor. Which is another story for another day.

Have a good day ladies. I'll be back later!

Morning, gals. What a productive day yesterday was. I found the app for the scanner and put a link to it on the tool bar so it is just a click to open it. I managed to scan in all the photos from Mom's 1st album - 80+ photos. So glad I moved the printer/scanner down to the desktop!!! I was able to sit - grab a page - put it on the scanner, do a preview, select the photo and scan it in - then put the page back in the album when I had all the photos on that page done. I have the albums laying on the loveseat just to the side of my office chair within easy reach. Mom had glued the photos to the page so I couldn't take them off the page. The pages are black and she wrote who was in the photo and sometimes where in white ink - so I tried to crop the scan to include that info. Oh, yes, I will have to edit most of them due to cracks/scratches or being faded or too dark. So glad I now have the skills and software to correct many of the problems. I am going to edit a few of them to begin with so I can gauge which ones I can salvage enough to be worth the effort. I did get the folders set up before I started scanning. I need to tag all the photos before I do anything else. I have a bunch of single photos (many of them from my early childhood) I gathered up when I went through the boxes of photos, I plan on doing them next. I also found some photos of hubby as a child. They are very few and so precious. I hope to do a few My Story pages with them. We lived in the same town and I know who is in those photos with hubby. I pulled out our Wedding Book as it has the direct line of the family tree going back 3 generations on both sides and also had post-it notes about when some of them were born and died.

Since my younger sister and I are the only ones left from our generation, I need to get the stories written down for our kids and their kids and grandkids. I remember some of the stories my maternal grandmother told me that should be documented. Her husband was a photographer so I have several photos taken then.

Sister called that morning.. had a nice long chat with her. Then DD#1 called shortly after and we talked for a long time, too. Glad to get caught up on news from both of them. It ended up being a PJ day for me. And I got so involved with scanning I forgot to get the porkchops out of the freezer until late afternoon... so yesterday's dinner will be done today instead.

Good morning ladies. I'm heading out soon to meet up with another photographer in a small town about an hour away. I will stop along the way and take a few photos of anything interesting so expect it to be a bit longer drive since I'll be stopping along the way. I've never been to Logan Lake. It is a small community of a few thousand people. At this time of year there isn't much wildlife out there but it'll be fun to see some of her favorite spots around the area and if I'm lucky I'll get a photo of a bohemian waxwing (I've never seen one IRL). Then this afternoon sometime I'll get back and work on the computer. I need to set up PS and LR again along with all my plugins/presets. It'll be a big job and will work on it slowly, no rush, as long as I get PS up and running so I can scrap.

@faerywings Sounds like a great time with your neighbors last night. Enjoy the yoga.

@LSlycord I'm so glad to hear that the word is getting out about the feeder. Once one starts, they all start coming. It usually takes up to a week or two. Enjoy them.

I'd better get dressed and get out of here. I'll be back later today. HAGD everyone.

Good Morning everyone! It is getting lighter out in the mornings, so nice! Yesterday was just beautiful, sunny and chilly, and our hike was great! So nice to be out in the fresh air and sunshine! SIL Linda was thrilled with the hike I choose for the day! When we got back and got to work on making some cauliflower wraps and a batch of cheesy zucchini breadsticks Yummy!! I also got a layout done for @BrightEyes challenge #4 and will get that posted this morning. It was a very productive day! My order of paint from Amazon came, but not the brushes that I ordered so I am hoping those arrive sometime today! I really would like to get going on this painting! Today I will do a bit more scrapping and then I might head out to my favourite craft store and see what they have have in Stock since the New Year. I need to pay a few bills and get my grocery order done too, but that shouldn't take too long. I would like to look at some new pillows to go with my new duvet cover and new curtains for our bedroom, perhaps just some pillow covers to put over the ones that I already have. There are a lot of really cute one out there and its time for a change. Why is it that Men don't think that its ever a time for a change??? DH says what was the matter with our old curtains and duvet??? HELLO... they are 15 years old!!!! He better get used to it, because I have a lot more changes planned for this house LOL.

@faerywings - Awww that is too bad that your new sofa did not arrive yesterday! I hope it comes today!! I am not too upset that we haven't had much snow this year either and it was a very dry November when that is usually our wettest month. A very mild January, so I hope that the water levels will be ok through this summer! Sounds like you have another busy day today, I hope that your cleaning job goes well and that you allow yourself enough time for another Yoga session (you go girl!!). That is crazy that your nephew has had so many job applications but still nothing in the way of work!! I hope he finds something soon! How fun to spend a great time with your neighbours, the restaurant sounds like it was a lot fun!

@LSlycord - Linda, I hope that you get to see lots of birds! Too bad you have such a mean neighbour, is she worried that you will get rats coming to the feeder?? Our neighbours across the street from us had a huge feeder out the front of their place and had so many birds coming to it, but sadly they had to stop feeding them as they were getting lots of rats coming around. I hope your lunch with Syd is fun, sorry that she has a cold and I sure hope that you don't catch it!

@BrightEyes - My goodness you are so busy with your scanning all those photos! What a good idea to move the printer closer to where you are working! I did a lot of scanning of old photos of our Mother's the same way and most of the photos were stuck in the album, isn't it great that we have photoshop and can crop and touch up the photos!! Enjoy your pork chops tonight! What did you end up having last night since you forgot to take the chops out of the freezer??

@bcgal00 - Have a fun day today with your photographer friend! I have been to Logan Lake, but oh my it was many, many years ago! I bet its changed and grown since I was there! I hope you get to see the Bohemian Wax Wings we have lots of the Cedar Wax Wings here, maybe there are the Bohemian ones too, I will have to check out what the difference between the two are. So glad that you are able to get your computer back, hopefully it will be much faster for you!

Ok I have been face timing with Heather, poor Poochy is still having to wear his cone after his surgery. He is feeling much better, but they had to get a larger cone for him as he was able to lick his wound with the other one and got infection. So he is on meds for another week. Well I will get my layout posted and then hit the shower and get on with the day. Have a great Friday everyone!

I started a blog to tell my story to my kids several years before my DH died and it was neglected for many years. I've started posting more on it, but have also included other things. The blogger blog (Google) stopped the emailing of posts, so I stopped posting on it all together. I started it back when Project 365 was a thing, which is what I called it. It was mostly scrapbook pages and stuff for the kids. I haven't been very faithful with the Word Press blog much lately! I need to get back to it. No telling when the Lord might call me home and then the kids will have the same questions about their dad and me that I have about my mom and dad.
I'm glad you want to write down your story for your kids.

Hope Sydney feels better soon!

Good Afternoon Ladies!
It is early in here for me for a change! I didn't go anywhere today and have been working on a layout for the One Word challenge using some of the pictures I took while with Ilene and Carolyn yesterday.

I worked on the puzzle some more this morning while laundry was working. I washed up the bed linens today. I had to clean up my kitchen, too, since the lazy fairies have neglected them again this week, LOL! Stinking fairies!

Mark and I will be going out to supper tonight, so I don't have to worry about that. Ilene's BIL is coming into town so we are going to go out with them. William and Mark enjoy spending time together, and William's wife is a real sweetheart, too. It will be good to see them again and catch up.

Other than that, not much going on around here!

I have an Epson Et-2850 printer/scanner. It is a tank model so no ink cartridges. The inks have lasted over a year... so well worth the higher cost of the printer/scanner.

Good afternoon. Busy day today. I was up at Adrienne's at 11:30 this morning to give poor Dexter (their cat) some loving. He's so pathetic - has little collar on and just looks up with his blue eyes like "what the heck happened?" He chewed his stitches out last night and was bleeding all over the place. They got him bandaged back up and he seems a little better today. Somehow, he got to his feet through the collar! He's a beautiful Rag Doll cat - he's called "Seal Point" color. (I think)

Then we all went to Nancy's for lunch, then Ava and I went to her house so I could love on the dog. She's doing better than poor Dexter - seems to not be in any pain and Ava's having trouble keeping her down. The vet was going to give her some mild sedatives for her because she's not supposed to be moving around.

Chris @faerywings I'll give them both treats from Aunt Chris tomorrow. It's so funny, because neither one knew they had both scheduled the pets for surgery at the same time. Adrienne was laughing about helping pay the vet's rent. Ava is so funny - totally reminds me of Cait - she ordered a jumpsuit for Bailee - one that keeps the dog from getting to the stitches. It's leopard print and she looks SO cute in it. She's been dressing her dogs up since they were babies, so they're used to it.

Bummer that you didn't get your loveseat. Let's keep our fingers crossed for tomorrow. Huffay for doing Yoga again today - Sounds like you're doing a pretty advanced program if she's doing planks. I did planks every day until I broke my clavicle. The ortho totally believes that's why I didn't need surgery and why I healed so fast. I'm doing the wall push-ups now and will graduate to regular push-ups in my progression to doing planks again. They're one of THE BEST things you can do! I had worked my way up to a five minute plank. That's a long time and I do them with straight arms - not bend elbows.

thumbnail (32).png

Linda @LSlycord good that you can get the bird feeder. You'll enjoy that so much. Glad your weather is getting back to normal, too. Those "cold spells" never last too long.

I'm going to get off of here and do my workout. I think my lunch has had time to settle in my tummy by now. I'll check in the "exercise forum" later.

XOXO

Another quick in and out - but had to share that I did edit a couple of photos for Bill's family My Story LO. It is in the gallery now. I was so pleased that I was able to edit photo when he was a baby. It had a lot of scratches on it but with lots of patience and using the Spot healing tool and the clone stamp, I was able to get an 'almost new' look to it! #kiss So glad as that is the only baby photo of him I have.

Just looked out and it is starting to snow!!! Don't think we will get much but glad I got my errands ran early today.

I was lazy... got out a frozen dinner - Chicken Fajita bowl along with a cup of Mandarin Oranges slices! Now my mouth (and tummy) are watering thinking about the porkchop dinner!!! LOL
