Happy Friday the 13th! Just be safe and stay away from Summer Camps :D

I am so glad that it is Friday and that I have no plans today. I am not used to having three days in a row of being busy out of the house. By dinner time last night, I was looking at my To-Do list and there was so much stuff on it. Thankfully, I have today to finish all of that. Then I need to move on to the stuff that I am supposed to be doing today.
We played another round of Ravine last night and we are working out some of the kinks in the rules (we messed up on a few things the first time) and it was just as funny this time. I ate a psychedelic mushroom and couldn't talk or move my arms until the next "Day." Gary got a Madness Card that said he had to hug someone until that person said it was enough/ended the hug. He hugged me but because I couldn't move my arms or speak it took him a while to figure out he had to ask me if the hug was over and I nodded. Gary "died" but we were able to build a Bone Circle (collected 4 Bone Cards) and we brought him back to life. The whole time we were laughing and I was hiccuping.

My goal for today is to finish cleaning/organizing my office space. Over the holidays, it became the place to shove stuff that we didn't need. My room is 8'x8' which doesn't give me a lot of floor space. My desk and filing cabinets take up two of the walls, and I have a tiny jewelry dresser that I use for storing little doodads -- pencils, paper clips, staples, note cards, etc.
I really need to find places to put the boxes of "stuff" that are shoved anywhere else there is a flat surface. I can shove most of it in the closet but that is a whole 'nother task that needs to be dealt with. But not today. Nope.

I should post this, I am trying to be off the computer by 8 am. If I am not, then the next thing I know its 10 am and I have lost the little window of energy and motivation to do clean.
Does anyone have tips or advice on how to stay on task??

xo

Sorry, I haven't been around for a while. I'm struggling with a bout of vertigo, so haven't been online much. It's getting a little better each day, today is the first morning without nausea and extreme dizziness when I first get up. Hope to be back and able to scrap again, soon. ♥ ♥ ♥

@LSlycord You and me both-- but I need that cleaning and organizing bug to hit me, hard.
How fun to be watching TV with all three of you semi-together. That is not anything I would think of, point the camera to the TV so Syd could join you. Love it! I am not surprised that Syd has a solid resume, good for her for getting it looked over before the career fair. Is there an internship she is looking at?
How did your interview go?? Does it look like a job you would enjoy?

@BrightEyes I am really happy that you are feeling better. That is one (the only one) nice thing about having mortgage payments, the mortgage company deals with my tax payments. Good luck with getting the creamer brand you like, and I hope that the weather is better. I honestly can't make heads or tails out of our weather Yesterday it was 31-33* Today is 52* at 8 am!

@taxed4ever How wonderful to see the sun and be able to go for a walk.
Happy b-day Bella and to Wendy. I hope that Bella's mom is doing ok too.
You cracked me up that you needed to switch to your computer to get the smilies LOL! Congrats on the new iPad!
That's fantastic that the grands are all doing so well, even if Mason is *loud* - drum practice- BTDT LOL!
*fingers and toes all crossed that the Disneyland trip works out and that you get to go!!!!*

@Cherylndesigns were you able to figure out how to change the fonts automatically? The only thing I can think of would be to change them in the System but that would change them for everything on the computer.
That stinks that you don't have enough room for a second monitor but I understand why. I have an L-Shaped desk and that really makes a big difference.
Desktops (IMHO) give you so much more for the money. The computer I got last year, nope-- 2 years ago -was only $700, there was no way I could find a laptop in that price range with all of the needed specs/graphics card that would support scrapping. Which IS the priority! hahaha! Good luck!!

Kay- I looooove the concept of My Story and wish I had pictures of myself as a kid. Next time I am at my mom's, I should take some. I saw your LOs on FB-- so amazing!!

@bcgal00 uuuugh, Poor Jen! That trip to Vancouver is awful, only one more time, IIRC?
Really uuuuuuuggggghhhhh about the computer, I hope that it is something simple to fix and you can look to buy a new one on your time frame.
Have a nice day with Jen and the pups!!

Hugs to you all~~~

Good morning ladies. We woke up to 60* weather but that is today's high. It is supposed to get cold this weekend...well cold for us. Highs in 50's and lows in 30's but then it gets back to normal on Monday. Had a good interview yesterday. Today I have an interview with another company. It's always good to get interviews. Both of these are just the first in a sequence of 2-4 interviews which is common in this field. So still a long way from having a job but it's a good start!

Sydney had a zoom interview last night for a project team for her Engineering Club. She said that they had 18 interviews for 10 spots. She was so nervous. I must have talked to her for over an hour yesterday. When the interview was over, she called and said it really wasn't that bad! She won't know if she gets it until next week...no money but it would give her a nice accomplishment for her resume as well as some good experience.

I spent some time in the gallery before I came over here this morning. I am absolutely in love with the project that Karen Schulz is doing. I love reading everyone's stories. It will require discipline but I am going to spend 2023 on the book of me!

Let me grab a coffee and I will be back for personals. #coffee

@Betty Jo I am so sorry that the vertigo has been giving you fits. That is such a terrible feeling. Hope that today is just the start of feeling back to normal!

Yikes... Friday the 13th!!! Good thing I am not superstitious. #devil
I slept okay but woke up at 3:30AM and couldn't fall back asleep. Decided to do a bit of clean-up on the computer. I copied a bunch of Collections/LOs and photos onto the ExHD. It is set-up like a storage space - not like a back-up... so I have to manually move stuff on to it. It is a 5TB drive so have lots of storage space and is easy to find things so having to manually move things is not a big deal.

Yesterday afternoon I got my estimated income tax payments in the mail then over to WM. I found the file folders I needed and hope to get the folders for 2023 labeled today. Want to get the papers off the island and put in the correct folders and into the file folders stand. Yes, I did find my Hazelnut Creamer (hooray) and broke down and bought a dozen eggs... along with several other grocery items I needed. Picked up the mail and the 4 free Covid Home Test kits were there - along with the package from my tax person. I was glad to get home as the stamina for being out and about is still on the low side but seems to be improving each day.

Chris, the payments were for the Quarterly Estimated Income Tax (Federal and State)... not for my property tax. I just made the property tax payment a couple of weeks ago. And yes, I love the My Story concept and having lots of fun looking for photos and scraping the stories. Now I have the incentive to scan the photos from Mom's albums and from the boxes of photos I have piled on the cutting table in the craft room!

Linda, I agree... My Story concept is fantastic. Will have to watch that I don't get so involved with it that I let other scraping LOs/duties slide. ;) Glad to hear you are inspired to start on your own My Story book.

Oh, Betty Jo... I know how debilitating vertigo can be. I have it occasionally and the doctor taught me the technique "to reset the rocks in my ears" to lessen the length of the bouts. <<< hugs >>>

Need more coffee... so glad I have the right creamer now! CYL

@faerywings sounds like you had a great time with the kids last night! Good luck on staying on task...I have no tips! I mean, I am always on task...but I have so many tasks...that I am always switching from one to the other and then I don't get any of them finished.

@BrightEyes your ambition on getting out of the house amazes me! And I am so loving your "The Story of Me" pages. I sure do see where your love for travel came from. Did you remain close to your Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim? And how did you get to using the name Kay instead of a variation from Patricia? Your story reads like a novel and I need to know more. LOL

@taxed4ever glad that you had a sunny day so that you got a chance to take a walk. Sunshine is so important to my mood. Glad that you got a chance to spend time with your sisters. Hope that it was a good day!

@Cherylndesigns I had to laugh. I was just thinking about whether I should get a desk top...thinking that maybe I would like that more than a second monitor. Then I read your post. I do have plenty of room in my office for a second monitor but I am trying to keep in mind that someday, we will downsize and how will I make things work then. Decisions, decisions!

@bcgal00 glad that Jen made it home. I sure hope that the computer guys can get things figured out with the computer. I'm sure your routine will be off for a bit without it.

Ok...I need to get off this computer and get cleaned up. Today's interview is a Zoom call so I need to look presentable. Have a good day all!

My family had always called me Kay (my middle name) and that was the name I went by all my life. But my oldest sister called me Kay-Kay and so did many of my friends. If anyone called Kay-Kay I knew they went to school with me. In my 40's, I was at the State Fair in San Diego (hundreds of people in the building) and I heard this voice calling out "Kay-Kay"... it was a boy I had gone to grade school with!!! :D Yes, I was very close to Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim... they never had children so I was the closest thing they had to a child. I ended up being Mary's care taker during her last years - she died at 91.

Happy Friday the 13th everyone! Watch out for Black Cats and all that other silly stuff LOL. It is a very rainy foggy morning here and the only thing on my plate today is to get my hair cut and coloured. Looking forward to just relaxing while I get my hair done! We had a very nice time together at my Sister Wendy's yesterday! I found a beautiful arrangement of Yellow roses and lillies at the store (she loves yellow roses). A very yummy fruit covered cheesecake and I got her a few scratch and win lottery tickets too. Along with the cute little junk journal that I made for her, she was very happy with all of her gifts! Sister Pam was telling us that her DD is not doing well at all and she is starting another round of Chemo in a few days. She did not want to talk about her too much, probably did not want to ruin our sisters birthday get together. Wendy and I feel so bad for her, she has gone through so much with her daughters! Her oldest daughter hasn't talked to her for years and then her other daughter got into drugs and now is dying of Cancer. What went wrong??? I don't think we will ever know. Anyway it was great to see my sisters again! I even took my good china plates and tea cups along with the teapot to my sisters so she would not have to do dishes when we left LOL. It was fun to have a tea party together!

@faerywings - Good luck getting your office space all tidy! I need to go through my craft room sometime this weekend and de-clutter a bit too. Sounds like your game last night was a hoot!! You have such a fun family!! I hear ya about being on the computer longer than 8am! I started this post at around 7:45 and now its 10am , Heather has face timed with me and now I am back trying to finish this post off. Seems like I spend far too much time running off at the mouth LOL.

@LSlycord - Hope that your interviews go well today, you are one busy lady! I hope that you get to have a job that makes you happy! Sounds like Sydney is on top of everything, but then I knew she would be, she was brought up right!! You must miss her being at home with you! I am loving all the Story of me pages too, I might have to look at doing some of my own.

@Betty Jo - Sorry you are having Vertigo! It is the worst! I have had it a couple of times, but thankfully not for quite a long time now. Like Kay I was shown how to deal with it so that the little particles floating around in your eardrum get dealt with and it is horrible at first to do, but sure did help me.

@BrightEyes - Hooray for getting out and getting the supplies that you need! Glad to hear that your stamina is improving! How interesting that you got the name Kay when your real name is Patricia LOL. Hope you have a lovely day today!

@bcgal00 - Hope you get some good news about your computer soon! Yes I bet you don't miss the rainy West Coast! Sounds like you have much drier weather than us, although our temps have been pretty mild recently, but flood warnings are being posted all over the Island today. Thankfully the rain has stopped right now and there is even some patches of blue out there. Not sure for how long, but I will enjoy while it is here.

@Cherylndesigns - Thats too bad that you don't have enough room for two monitors, but glad that you found a way to make it all work out! When you are on your iPad, can you access the smiley button here in this forum, for some reason I cannot and not sure why, or how to fix that. Let me know please!

Ok I am off to make the bed and empty the dishwasher, then I better get ready to get to the hairdresser. Have a great day everyone!

Morning all.

It's almost noon, though. It's cold here again but supposed to warm up soon - bumpy weather all over the country, I guess. Looks like we have a couple of really cold days and nights coming up, though. Oh well, it is the middle of January and it hasn't been bad. We always compare winter to "Michigan Winters". Haha

Linda @LSlycord I know it's cold in FL. Even in SWF, it's cold. That's funny that you're thinking about a desktop, too. First of all, I think the monitor sitting up higher will be easier on my eyes. I'm really anxious to get a higher and larger monitor. Chris @faerywings I wish I had room for two monitors, but we made a decision yesterday that I just don't. Linda @LSlycord you're smart to think down the road, too. We had such a big house in FL and had lots of room, but when we decided to come out here, we downsized a lot. You're right about how expensive laptops are, too. The last one I got was over $800 and that was several years ago. They're ridiculous now. It was a PC, not a Mac - they're even more.

Kay @BrightEyes I'm loving your pages for Karen's collection. I don't have very many pictures of myself as a baby/young child. Karen suggested that I find pictures on Pixabay and I did that for my first page. I'm sure you've seen this in the heritage forum, but I lost most of my old pictures in a flood we had in our basement, when we lived in Michigan. I thought I had my pictures stored safely, but the water got them. I'm still sick over it. I've recovered what I could from my parents but for some reason, I had most of the family pictures. My siblings never bothered keeping any. That's one reason I love digital pictures.

Betty Jo @BettyJoR sorry you're not feeling well again. Sending hugs.

Rae @bcgal00 good luck with the computer.

Happy Friday the 13th everybody.

Trudy @taxed4ever we cross posted. I'm so happy you had a nice bd tea party with your sisters. It sounds lovely and how sad about your other sister's dd. I don't understand what goes wrong either (the drugs thing) - kids all raised the same and one of them just goes astray. I have one grandson who has had lots of problems. We can't figure it out, either. But, I'm so happy that you had a good day.

I've never tried to get to the emojis on my iPad. I'll try after a while and if I can, I'll let you know. I bought that Pro Create program and a stylus because I thought it would be handy to have for traveling - I wouldn't have to drag my laptop everywhere. LOL - I never did learn the program and still have my beautiful stylus. Have you tried Pro Create? I wonder if they can be accessed on our iPhones? Hmmmmmmm I'll ask Susie Marie because I know she's on her phone a lot when she's on the board.

Oh Chris @faerywings I've been meaning to ask admin about this for a long time - talking about using our iPads/iPhones on message boards - do you know there's an app called Tap A Talk that I can get on several message boards on my phone? I wonder what's involved in getting The O on there? It's quite handy! You can do just about anything and when I was active on a couple of other boards, I used it a lot.

Ok, I'm signing off now.

Good morning everyone. I was outside taking a few pics of the birds in the yard and playing ice hockey with Remi. The temps have warmed up and looks like it'll be around mid to high 30s for the next week and the ice is slowly melting. But if the forecast is right, the following week the temps drop back down into the 20's again so more snow and freezing. I expect this to go on until at least mid to late Feb. I don't mind the cold, I just want it to warm up enough to be able to go out more with the dogs in the car. When I run errands they can't come if I plan to be in a store more than 10-15 min.

Today I'll be out for groceries and need to pick up some low carb vodka coolers to bring to a birthday party tomorrow. I'll bring the dogs and go to the dog park on the way back. Maybe I'll see the swans. Then later I'll make devilled eggs with bacon to bring for the party.

So far my computer is running ok, the tweaks I made on PS seem to have helped. I will still bring the computer in next week for diagnostics and see if I can upgrade the graphics card. Sure hope so. That is such a less invasive fix (and cheaper) than looking for a new PC, waiting for delivery and then setting it up. Fingers crossed.

The pups are restless, poking and nudging me, they want to go outside. I'll be back later.
