My goodness, it feels amazing to start this thread again!!!! I wish we had all of our smilies back so I could do a little happy dance but all in due time. How have you all been? I hope that everyone has been well, staying safe and healthy while we have been offline.
The new forum is fantastic, isn't it? It is taking me a bit to get used to figuring out how to do things but if anyone needs help, just ask. Vicki Robinson and Ona have been working on tutorials.
*interrupts self to complain that it is snowing again* Ugh! It started snowing in New Jersey Sunday around dinner time and was still going Wednesday morning and now we have more? [insert fainting and yelling smilies] We ended up with somewhere in the 30+ range so this is simply adding insult to injury.
The snow added to the pain of having to put Ravyn down Wed morning too. I knew it was time last Thursday and Gary was finally ok on Saturday. That was after the vet office had closed for the weekend. Sunday she was so much worse and the forecast was getting worse so I made an appt request online for Mon as soon as they opened. The vet's wife emailed me overnight saying that they would squeeze me in at 9 am but when I called the office to let them know, they were swamped and asked to come at 10. The snow was so heavy that by 9.30 we couldn't;t get out of our driveway so I had to cancel. I crazily yet smartly requested appts for both Tuesday and Wednesday in case we couldn't get out on Tues and thank goodness I did that b/c they called to cancel Tuesday's appt Monday afternoon. My gallows humor kicked in when I said that only my family would need to make four appts to kill one dog.
Gallows humor part 2 was when all four of us went in the car Wed morning to the vet. Only Gary was able to go in with her but we waited in the car sharing goofy stories about her. It was a darn good thing that we didn't go inside together. The vet that did the euthanasia was the same one that took care of Floyd a year ago. Last year was the first and only time we had ever seen him and for several reasons, it has become Kooky Campbell Canon. Not only was he very short ( He was taller than Cait and I but shorter than Scott who is 5'5") which made it hysterical for some reason, because he and the tech didn't know us, they were very "by the script" with the process and condolences. We are awful people that we joke about it. Anyway- he was the vet that put Ray down which when Gary told us this, gave us more opportunity to create more Kooky Campbell Canon. Had we all been inside, we might have burst out laughing or acted otherwise inappropriately.
It was a long and brutal week but we know she isn't in pain and we truly hope that she found her big sister, Harley. Maybe the cats and rats too although whenever bothered much with the cats IIRC.
I am so excited to be back here and I hope that everyone is having a fantastic day!!
