24 Days Until Spring!
200w.gif

This is about as close as I can get to spring today :D

It is DISGUSTING out there. It is just pouring ice. There isn't much snow, maybe 2"? But the freezing rain/sleet/slush is making a huge mess. I am so glad that no one has to leave the house today. I took the dogs out a little while ago and they went one foot into the lawn area, peed, and ran back in.

I ended up doing a bit of "lazy-cooking." Egg salad, brownies, and then chicken and potatoes in the oven with a spinach and garlic sauce over the top, Unfortunately, that didn't keep me all that occupied and was listening to several news podcasts about Ukraine. I was amazed to see how many Russians were out in the streets protesting. That is incredibly brave of them. I don't think I could do that if I lived there.
We are still working with the dogs and the button for Play. They don't use it a lot but each of them will hit it on occasion. Yesterday, I thought that W was chewing on it (I heard "PLAYPLAYPLAY") so when I went to the LR to get it from her, it was actually Jaida pressing it. That led to a good play session.

Nothing happening here today. I hope that the temps warm up this afternoon so it won't be miserable trying to scrape the snow/ice away from the driveway and cars. I should do a bit of scrapping, I still have lots of pages to work on for my nephew- plus I need to make a card for my niece whose b-day is next week.

xoxo!

@tanteva How are you feeling, any better??

@BrightEyes It is never good to look out the window in the middle of the night to see snow. That reminds me of when my kids were in the school district and we would have to wait until 6 am to get the call for snow days. I would wake up a million times to check to see if it was snowing yet. Just so I could turn my alarm off to "sleep in." Kinda defeated the purpose. heh
How is Leslie recovering? Gainignehr strength back? Must have been wonderful talking to your DDs. I spent a long time on the phone with my mom yesterday too- she misses my voice LOL

@Cherylndesigns gah, that stinks about the snow and cold temps. Hope that the temps warm up quickly so you can get down the hill at some point soon. How crazy to have thunder with the snow. We had a big storm in 2011 that was like that- a blizzard with thunder-snow in October. That was bad!

@taxed4ever grrrr- that stinks about the pool, way too cold to even think about getting in a lap or two. You had good intentions and next time you go you will be 100% ready!. Even though you didn't get to swim or hike, you did get to see your sister

@scrap-genie Did you end up getting more rain or more snow? Tell the cardinals I appreciate their song!!
It has to be difficult to talk to the computer for your meetings, I know I felt silly doing some of the Zoom Birthdays in 2020 and that was just with family.

@felis It is hard to be close to this and not be able to do anything to help the people that are suffering. It is especially hard to see people being mean to Russians who live in your country and have nothing to do with any of it. Personally, I put all blame on Putin, not the Russian people. I remember how awful it was for any person who looked Middle Eastern after 9-11. It is easy to scapegoat a group of people even when they are not to blame.
Hugs to you!

@bcgal00 Good luck with the movers and shopping for new furniture and car! All of that makes me a bit queasy but I know that you and Jen and D work well together. Rattlesnake anti-venom, what are you moving to Australia? LOL It is going to feel like a totally different world. I bet you cannot wait to get started taking photos of the wildlife too.
DEET- use a good tick spray with DEET and use Permetherin on your clothes for the ticks.
Thinking of you and your family and friends in Ukraine too

@LSlycord That hurts my heart for Shaun and you. I wouldn't be able to bring Decker back either. :( Maybe in the long run it will be nice for Shaun to see him at the boarding place and he can give him extra attention. I know it is not the same though.
Have a fantastic weekend in Iowa! Good luck/fingers crossed for good news for Syd!

I'm better, no fever & sore throat, but not 100% yet. But really, the situation here in Europe now is really upsetting. That man has clearly gone completely insane, and we are so close to Russia. I really shouldn't watch the news all the time, but I can't stop myself.

Wow... managed to sleep in this AM... the light coming in around the curtains finally woke me up at 7:15. I can tell that we are heading toward spring as it was still light at 6PM last evening.... Of course, that will change when we switch over to Daylight Savings Time in a few weeks. Wish TPTB would do away with changing the time around for good!! It always takes me a few weeks to adjust to it!!! It was 20* but is suppose to be into the 40's today. The snow is all melted away except for a few patches in the backyard. Plan on picking up the mail and do a quick run over to the grocery store for a few needed items. I am feeling back to 'normal' so will tackle a few chores around the house. I was busy this morning getting a few of the Color Play LOs uploaded to the galleries. Only a few more days until March is here!!!

Thanks for asking about Leslie, Chris. She is still recovering and gaining strength. Slow but steady progress seems to be how it is going.

Linda, I am sure I would have been in tears at seeing Decker leave. So glad Brian was the one to take him back. It is always heart rendering when that has to happen. Hope you don't have to deal with lots of snow on your trip. Glad the training for the job is over and you can get back in the swing of working again.

Eva, hope you get to feeling better soon. My heart aches for those who are dealing with the invasion in Ukraine and for those Russians who don't agree with what has happened.

Cheryl, hope the warmer weather has moved into your area, too. Wouldn't want to be on on the icy roads in the compound either.

Jean, doing a talk on the computer isn't near as easy as in person.... especially if it a large number of attendees. Glad it went well. I don't mind our family video chats as I can see everyone 92-6 people) and get feedback from their expressions. You certainly don't have that with a larger number.

Finally... the heat is up so I can take a shower without freezing... LOL... then it will be time to tackle a few chores. CYL

Good morning.

Well, we have no internet - ugh it brings back memories of all those months when I had to go somewhere just to download files to make layouts with. I'm running on my iPhone this am. At least, I can get on my personal hotspot and we have unlimited data. There's no downloading though - it just doesn't have that much oomph.

Kay and Chris, it's beautiful here today but still cold - it's only going up to 36 today, but 45 the next few days, high 53, 59, 70's! We're looking forward to this. Hopefully, this is the last blast we'll have. Roger and Adrienne got out last night in his big truck but nothing was open. They were going to go to the Dollar General and get all of us some things, but they've been closed. Things just close here when the weather gets bad. Haha We're used to Michigan - nothing shut down there - they just kept rolling. We're going out tomorrow and find something to do - I'm sure things will be open by tomorrow. We go to Dollar General a lot because it's very close and they have so much - they have a fresh market there. Their prices are pretty good too - we can get a few things cheaper there than at the grocery store. They're trying to serve this community and are keeping their prices down.

I hope everybody has a good Friday.

Good Morning everyone, gosh its so cold there this morning but can't tell what the temp is. The battery in our weather thingy needs a new battery. So that is one chore for my DH to do today as he has the day off of work. He was up super early, so will probably need to have a nap at some point later on today. We are hoping to get out for a hike together this afternoon when it warms up, hopefully the sun will be shining and the views will be great! So sad to see what is happening in the Ukraine!! Seems most of the Russian people are in disagreement with their President. Hope to get some scrapping done later on this morning, but with my DH home who knows if it will happen.

@faerywings - Sure sounds like lousy weather for you! Hope the temps warm up and it melts away all that awful ice! Good thing no one has to go anywhere today! We are supposed to be sunny today, but so far not seeing anything but grey clouds and chilly temps. Hope you find something to do today that makes you happy! Cute that the dogs are learning the buttons and that you got some play time with Jaida! I need to get a card made soon too, for SIL Linda her birthday is in March, but not until the 26th. It might take me that long to get it done LOL.

@tanteva - Glad to hear that the sore throat and fever is gone! Hopefully you will be 100% soon! I think that you are right and Putin has lost his mind!!

@BrightEyes - Kay its nice to hear that you had a good sleep! That's about the same time I was awake this morning also. Yes it is great that the days are longer and I agree with you, I wish we could just leave the clocks alone! It is a difficult adjustment for a lot of folks! Glad that Leslie is coming along and getting slowly better and better!

@felis - Glad to see that you are safe and that there is all that water between you and the fighting! We worry about you sweetie, but nice to hear that you are well!

@Cherylndesigns - Ugh on not having any internet!! Hope that it gets up and running again very soon!

@scrap-genie - You are right talking to the screen just isn't the same as seeing everyone in person! Nice that you were able to have the chat just the same.

@bcgal00 - Yup way too cold to be in the water, I may as well go for a swim in the Lake LOL. Hope the movers are the right ones and that everything gets packed up and moved without any damage! Good luck with finding your new vehicle, things are really happening fast for you!

Ok I am getting cold sitting here at the computer and its time to get a shower and get dressed, sure hope the weather improves for our hike today and that we figure out which one we want to do LOL. Have a great Friday everyone!

Thank you girls, I deeply appreciate it! But you really shouldn't worry for me, there is always some war conflict around us. Plus Russia is like a brother to us. I don't think my country is in bigger dangerous than yours. If NATO take a part, Russia will look to respond on West not here.
Oh it's relief to see that you have access to all news and you are saw the many russian that aren't agree with their politicians!

I was finally able to talk to mine friend from Ukraine. She is fortunately on safe (for now). But she is feeling very disappointed from the timid European actions. They are hoping to get some kind of war support and don't believe at peaceful resolve of the situation.
But the peace is the only way! Everything is so complicated. Both side are as a brothers to us, with deep cultural connections.

Excuse me for not being able to follow and keep casual conversation! I just wanted to tells you to not worry!

Oh ladies. I am so upset. Shaun just got to work and found out that the rescue people are coming to get Decker. There was a terrible fight last night. Decker got to a little dog and tore his ear way off. Then he went for the little dogs throat. It took 3 of Shaun’s coworkers to separate Decker from the little dog. Well, maybe more than 3 but 3 of them got bitten. And one of the 3 had to go to the ER. The manager stayed last night until 3 am to make sure that the little dog was ok.

Shaun wanted to go in to his kennel to see him but they wouldn’t let him.
Now they are waiting for the rescue people. And I am afraid that they will need to euthanize him because of the attacks.

Poor Decker must have realized that he had been left again. Sydney wanted to know if we could bring him back home. So now our entire family is a mess over this dog. Would he have been better off to never know what it was like to be in a family where he was loved?

We are in Iowa. Just got here and drove in the snow and ice. I know That this is nothing compared to the Ukraine situation, or so many situations really. But it leaves me feeling very sad and I am so grateful that i have you ladies to talk to. ((Hugs)) and love to all.

Good morning ladies. Been on the phone most of the morning, dealing with telus for alarm system, internet and TV. Luckily the new house has the optic wired into it already so we just need a tech to come out to wire the house for the alarm system and set up the modem/internet. So if everything goes as planned, we'll only be without internet for 3 days. I'll have my phone internet but that's a PITA to be on for too long. The moving estimate yesterday was crazy high so hopefully the estimate later today from another company will be more reasonable.

@faerywings Taz isn't crazy about snow and ice but Remi sure loves it.

People coming to see some of the furniture we're selling so gotta go. BFN

Checking back in - got our internet fixed - Chuck was on the phone with them for well over half an hour. It's SO weird because there are 4 of us on the same account - the whole compound is on one account -we had no control over that. WHY us????? LOL

Bless his heart - he has the patience of Job - I praised him all over the place when he got it fixed - I have the patience of a gnat!! I told him that if he wasn't here, I'd have to call Braden! Right after I said that, Braden walked in the door and said "I'm here to fix your internet". BWAHAHA I told him it was already fixed, but while he was here, I needed him to figure out how to get another app on our TV and Chuck brought the ladder out for him to put the smoke alarm back up - after he changed the batteries. LOL - He's such a good kid - he did both things for us then grabbed some candy and went home. They've been out of school all week due to the ice. We're so lucky to have all the help we have!

It was good to hear from Felis @felis and Rae @bcgal00 - happy that Felis heard from her friend!

Well, I'm over and out - just thought I'd let you know I'm back in the groove again.

@felis, thank you for the news that you are fine. That is at least some comfort.
My heart breaks for everyone involved. I read today about a family that is doing an international adoption and they have 3 boys in the Ukraine. They are waiting for the paperwork to be completed by the governments. Having waited to bring my children home from China, I cannot imagine how these people are coping. They actually hosted the oldest boy for 3-4 weeks in December then had to let him return to Ukraine. Now, the orphanage is trying to get the kids out of harms way.

@tanteva I’m so sorry that on top of not feeling well, you now have the stress of the craziness going on in Europe. I hope that you continue to feel better physicall!

@Cherylndesigns glad that you weren’t without internet for long. That is really the worst. Well, that, and having everything closed down due to bad weather!

@BrightEyes I agree about changing the time back and forth. I have always hated that and I don’t find it better now that I am older.

@bcgal00 being without internet for 3 days is doable. Sounds like things are coming together!

@taxed4ever hope that the hike was good!

And the best news is that Sydney got into UF. So now she just needs to decide for sure where she wants to go. But we are getting there.
