Good morning, and here's to Friday! :drinks2:

Winter is back in NJ, it is cold and windy so whatever weather pattern was to the west, it is here today. :brrr: But at least today the worst of my complaints is that I am cold. I was in a complete funk all day yesterday. I was exhausted and mentally drained. I should have called my mom but I needed to take a small breather from it all.
My day turned out to be just as chopped up as I expected but I survived and dinner was delicious. I love the recipe [Chicken Pot Pie] and it makes enough filling for two so half of it goes into the freezer. And I have leftovers for lunch. Mmmmm mmmmm.
I think I have a touch of Cait's cold so I am going to take it easy today, drink tea with honey and take some garlic pills. I have no idea if they technically help but I have used them since I started teaching preschool and they seem to.
I have a bunch of scrap things I need to work on and upload. I love Color Play Days. ♥

xoxo

@LSlycord Calories don't count on holidays and the calories escape if a cookie is broken. Two very good rules of thumb. haha!! I love mashed potatoes but never tried boiling them in milk. Very interesting! My "secret" is to use Yukon golds, I never miss when I use them. Russets sometime end up sticky, although I never know why.
Sorry that you had one of those days that dissolved on you, that is such a good way to describe it. I have that kind of day a lot.
How was yesterday, a little better?

@BrightEyes Oh wow! Those winds sound terrible, 74 mph gusts. Yikes. I am glad that the furniture stayed in place and that the power stayed on.
Cait was able to work from home for part of the day and took half of a sick day. She was really happy she could do that. She is feeling better and is on her way to work. And is looking fwd to being there. :)

@vickyday Whew, that is good that your sleep schedule didn't get all out of whack. Did you end up with a PJ day?

@taxed4ever I hope it is less windy and much warmer for you today. That's so cool about the new windows with the blinds inside. I cleaned a house that had them and they look amazing. Did you get an estimated date for the install?
I bet that if I showed up for a hike before anyone else gets there, I wouldn't have to pay, maybe. Or I could conveniently "bump into them after they start. Scott was saying that they charge a fee so they have it more locked in so people actually show up. When they didn't charge a fee, they would have no idea if anyone who signed up would show up.
Ohhhhh that beach is beautiful! Americans were restricted from going to Cuba for a long time but the Obama Admin lifted many of them. The last Admin put some of them back and I don't know if this Admin has changed that. I think I would love to be there (or at any beach really LOL) right now.
I am sending warm thoughts to you and your Gary and to Heather and the boys! Be safe out there.

@tanteva I'm so sorry to hear about the job :( Are there any loopholes that you can work around? Can they fire you and then rehire you in a different position, but then put you back to what you were doing?
Finances seem to stink everywhere. ha! I am the same as you when I go grocery shopping in person. I mutter and mumble about the %#@* prices. It's much safer for everyone for me to do online shopping. Cheaper for me even with the $5 fee. I would get so aggravated that halfway through, I would give up on trying to stick to my budget and throw things into the cart in frustration. (Then have a heart attack at the checkout.) Online shopping is much more controlled. heh
I really hope that something pops up for you. Have you ever tried to sell your knitting online, like on Etsy? Your pieces are always gorgeous.
BTW @faerywings I really love that you dubbed me honorary Italian, before you called me a psychopath. :rotfl:
They are one and the same.
:floorlaugh:

@Nonni F How much snow did you end up with? The ice mixed in is the worst.
I am so very lucky to have a close family in all directions. But when my parents are like this, it is miserable for everyone to be around them. Pisses me off too, they have so few years left, and they are going to spend it angry at each other, and with me aggravated at them. :(
I spent some time searching for info on the doctor's office and practice and there was nothing-- Just strange listings on Healthgrades and sites like that. Weird.

@Cherylndesigns
The faster I go, the behinder I get. :runningdog:
Ain't it the *truth*?????

Good morning ladies. I'm busy posting layouts for Color Play this morning. I hate when I have a bunch of layouts that I scrapped earlier and didn't get them posted. It takes me so long... @vickyday I am so glad that you shared your method. I can tell already how much that is going to help me! But I do feel so fortunate to have so many beautiful products to scrap with.

I haven't seen (or heard) the cardinal(s) this morning but I do have a squirrel playing back in the preserve. He is jumping from tree to tree. And as I am posting this, I see my cardinals back there as well.

It got so warm yesterday that we turned on the air. It's going to be another hot one as well. Sydney texted me yesterday as she was walking back from a class. She told me that it was hot. Then she told me that her face was baking. It wasn't even noon. I told her it would get hotter. I said that maybe Florida wasn't her forever home. She said it definitely wasn't. :floorlaugh:

Don't really have plans for today. We will see how it evolves.

Morning, gals. I have been busy uploading Color Play LOs... And, of course, saw another one I had to have... so will work on a LO with it today. Always love Color Play time.

Not going to undo the way the patio and outdoor things are arranged. Today and tomorrow should be warmer with less winds but then on Sunday another cold front with high winds and rain/snow. Then a brief break until Thurs/Fri with another cold front with rain/snow. Unfortunately the weather changes have caused the arthritis in the hips and lower back to flare up big time. Thank goodness for the Dr Scholl's chair massage unit with heat. Have use a couple times a day and taken Tylenol to help ease the pain and stiffness. The good news is the left arm/shoulder is improving even with the weather changes. Not so good is the right wrist is a bit stiff and weak - so back in the brace for most of the day. And back to limited typing. #annoyed

@faerywings I think that it sounds like you needed the time yesterday to just recover from the day before. I need to add that chicken pot pie to my stash of recipes. Brian and Shaun would love it. I can't believe how crazy the weather is this year. I hope that it doesn't last for you because you need some garden time. Believe me, it has helped my mood immensely to be outside. Glad that Cait feels better and hope that you can get some rest and feel better.

@BrightEyes 74 mph winds are crazy. I'm sure that must have been wearing. But glad that things stayed ok for you. So good to see you scrapping again. Just saw today's post. I agree 100% about ColorPlay. Love to scrap with these products. Sorry that the weather is causing the arthritis to flare up.

@vickyday sounds like it was really good sleep...you must have been really tired. But that makes sense with everything that went on last weekend.

@taxed4ever I can't believe how awful your weather turned. Well, of course I can. I lived in that kind of weather for most of my life. But it is easy to forget. Hope that they were wrong about today's weather being worse than yesterday. We had those windows with blinds inside in one of our houses and I loved those things! We have incredible amounts of dust here. My blinds, my ceiling fans, everything...just covered constantly in dust.

@tanteva I am so sorry to hear about the job. The cost of living is awful! I will hope that something changes before the job ends.

@Nonni F I think that I should have visited the posts yesterday...I haven't made any  bread recently and that sounds good.

@Cherylndesigns I sure hope that the girls night out was fun! After all of your computer woes this week, you deserve that.

Good morning ladies. I was very busy for a few days and wasn't online much. We had to focus on cruise plans since we were booking at such a late date. We were back and forth on the phone with the agent and checking info on 3 cruises and had one on hold. We paid yesterday for the one we wanted, it is a 19 day panama canal cruise with Princess. We got the return air travel arranged between Vancouver and Ft. Lauderdale arranged. Then we downloaded the app and had to get info loaded into that. I spoke with Service Canada and will be going to Kelowna Monday morning to apply for a new passport. It will be a long day of driving and waiting in line. I'm getting express service so it'll be ready in 10 days, then I drive back there to pick it up. I'm not trusting the postal service to deliver it. Whew. What a whirlwind of plans. We booked 5 excursions and my fave two are the sabana safari in costa rica and the other is the national aviary in colombia. I'll be gone from Apr 15th and arriving back home very late on May 4th, so almost 3 wks, whew. What an adventure that is going to be. A small perk, compared to the whole adventure, but I am thrilled to not have to cook for 3 weeks LOL. Jenn will be home to care for the dogs so they won't need to go to a kennel which is nice. After 3 wks with them she may decide she never wants to do it again LOL. Remi is a lot of work and she's not used to it b/c Bella is so laid back, like Taz.

Remi didn't get a lot of attention during all this, so today I'll get out to the dog park but will bundle up b/c it is really cold out there, 3F but feels like -11 the app says...brrr. Remi loves the new dump of snow and ice this week of course, getting out to play ice hockey in the yard.

Good morning all.

I'm getting on here early this morning, aren't I? It's 10:15 and a chilly 39 degrees, but it looks like this is our last cold day - the weekend looks good - high 60's.

We had a great Girl's Night Out last night - we went to The Branch - it's the nicest restaurant in town. It was cold last night, and we sat at a cozy table right in front of the fireplace. We played musical chairs about 3 times - our typical shenanigans. I was sitting in a huge chair, complete with pillow, but it was so low that I looked like a little kid trying to eat. So, Ava and I switched seats and she decided the chair was too close to the fire, so we got up and moved the table out and moved all of the chairs. Then, Adrienne decided she didn't like where the table was, so she moved it again. Meanwhile, picture Alyssa - she's NEVER amused by our shenanigans. Of course, we were all laughing. Braden works there and he came over and laughed about us re-arranging their whole dining room. Alyssa still not amused. The waiter came back and said "Oh, I see we've all switched seats". :giggle4: Alyssa's sinking lower in her chair. :hiding1: You all get the picture - never a dull moment with us. :rotfl:

Chris @faerywings so sad about your parents - they're not going to change, are they? I know it wears you out. Hope your day is better today. Your chicken pot pie sounds amazing though - one of my favorites meals.

Linda @LSlycord I saw on FB that your temp is up - so you turned on your AC? We're wimps - ours ran 99% of the time - we even turned our heat on - gasp - if it got cold. Steph won't turn her heat on - no matter how cold it gets, but she keeps her condo very cold. I even froze when I was there. I didn't complain - it's her house, but there were lots of nights that I had my hood up on my sweatshirts. LOL

Kay @BrightEyes glad that awful wind stopped! I still can't believe you didn't lose power. That's incredible in itself. Sorry Old Arthur has moved back in, though. The cold spell here has settled in my hands, too. Yesterday, they hurt to type, but I put on my fingerless gloves. Do you have any of those? They're amazing - warm and cover my wrists, with just the fingertips out. It doesn't hinder my typing at all. They sell three sets in one on Amazon.

I have to go and finish posting my layouts - I ran out of steam last night. I think I have about 4 left to post.

:grouphugyay:
XOXO

Morning from frigid Vancouver Island!! :holysheep: it is -12C out there and the poor heat pump is running non stop trying to keep up with this cold weather :brrr::brrr::brrr::brrr:. DH has my CRV again today, so no going anywhere for me, but then who wants to go outside??? Not me!! The nice part is that the sky is clear and blue and the sun is shining brightly! Like most of you ladies today I will get my Colour Play layouts posted to the gallery, but then I might leave a couple for a day or two so that the gallery isn't jam packed with them. I hope to try to get at least one more page done today. I did get Sadie's card made and need to pop that in the mail. Maybe later on the temps will warm up and the wind will stay away and I will go for a walk in the sunshine and mail the card.

@faerywings - Sure hope you are not catching Cait's cold, but at least its just a cold and not Covid! Glad to hear that she is feeling better and that she is back to work! How did the house showing go the other day? I take it was not so good or you would have said that they have put an offer in on it. Good to take a break from your parents for a day and I hope that you are not going to get the frigid temps that we have right now! That is the nice thing about our hiking group, if you are paid for the year, there is no pressure to attend, but they do want you to let the hike leader know if you are meeting up with them at the trailhead, so they know to expect you. Otherwise they meet at the same spot each Wednesday and sign in and then meet up with the others at the trailhead and have you sign in there. Last hike I went on there were 29 of us, so our group is growing!!

@LSlycord - It will probably take me forever to get my layouts posted today too! I need to see how @vickyday does hers and get some pointers! Wow sounds like you are getting nice warm temps! Get that pool ready, you might have some extra visitors soon if the weather continues to be the way it is for us here up North of you :giggle4:. Glad that you have the Cardinal and squirrel to keep you happy today! Have fun with all the Colour Play goodies, we are very lucky to be able to play with all of them!

@BrightEyes - Good plan to keep the outdoor furniture right where it is for now. I doubt you would be out there sitting in it anyway, in those cold temps right?? Sorry that Darn Arthur is giving you more grief!! Nice that you have your massage chair to help out! Keep warm and take care of you!

@Nonni F - I wonder what National day it is today?? Seems to be something everyday, but :banana:bread day is a good one! I love the smell of it when its in the oven!

@bcgal00 - Wooo hooo!! Off on a cruise for you!! Bet you are pretty excited to get going! What a great holiday you have coming up! I am so happy for you!! Please take me with you LOL. You will be busy getting things in place for your trip and I hope that the drives that you have to do will all be in good weather! Enjoy the rest of your day today, hopefully all the crazy planning is behind you!

@Cherylndesigns - How fun to have the girls night out! Too funny that you were all joking around and playing musical chairs!! How fun!! Well not for Alyssa though :giggle4: I can see you all re-arranging the furniture and giggling!! :groupchat:. Love it!

Ok I gotta run, Heather will be face timing soon and I am still in need of my second cup of coffee! Have a great day everyone! :waving1

Good morning ladies. I was very busy for a few days and wasn't online much. We had to focus on cruise plans since we were booking at such a late date. Good Afternoon!
Well, I started out online in the morning, but 2 hours passed quickly, LOL! I went down a rabbit hole with Chris's Chicken Pot Pie recipe link! ;)

The plan for today WAS to finish the little poncho I am making for the baby due in May. BUT the Color Play is beautiful, so I may just have to play with it today!

Salad with hard boiled eggs and bacon is on the menu for supper. I've already made sausage biscuits for Mark this morning and hard boiled the eggs in my nifty little gadget from Walmart. I love it!

Mark is home and in the woods today, so it seems like Saturday!

OK.....time for coffee in.....coffee out.....and switch over to iced tea!
Have a great day!
