30 More Days Until Spring!

Getting closer!
It felt a bit like Spring yesterday, it was near 60* I wish it was going to stay that way but we have a cold front coming through and the wind is gusting. I think the temps are going to plummet back to the 30s today. The changes in weather are making my hands hurt. Scott got me compression gloves for Christmas and I have them on now.

My friend forgot that I was cleaning yesterday and I think I scared the youknowwhat out of her when I walked into the garage. She was just leaving to take her son to get a tonsillectomy. It never ends for this poor lady. At least she was able to come home and not have to worry about the house at all. After I got home, I ended up spending most of the day in the kitchen I made Pretzel Spider to go with dinner last night and prepped for dinner tonight. I am doing Asian roast pork and vegetarian fried rice so I marinated the meat (blech) and cooked the rice to let it dry out a bit. By the time I had to cook the actual dinner, I was pooping out. One of Scott's friends was here and they are so appreciative of family dinner, they make it worth the trouble :)

Yesterday was Cordelia's 3 years and 5-month b-day and she let me pet her, her head in the palm of my hand, chuckling and boggling. But I am starting to think it might be time soon... It's not my decision but I know that Caitlyn respects my input so if she asks... :(

I didn't do much catching up here, so that is on the list for today. I am also planning on working some more with the dogs and the buttons. Gary said that both dogs did really well yesterday and they seem to have "touch" the button down, now we are going to switch to teaching them "toy." They press the button that says "toy" and we give them a toy as the reward. I was listening to a discussion on YouTube and some of the dogs had 30 words they knew. And could put words together like Mom Play! I only hope we can leave the buttons on the floor without W wanting to eat them. :/

Have a fab day!

Good morning ladies. I am so excited! Quite by accident I found that My Fair Lady is playing in the West End in London when we get there. Mom and I went to so many musicals when she was alive. Hello Dolly was probably our very favorite---we saw Carol Channing do it in Des Moines many years ago. In December 2017, Brian and the kids and I went to NYC and saw Bette Midler do it on Broadway. It was magical! Brian likes musical theater, Shaun was in show choir in high school in Iowa so he is ok with it and Sydney tolerates it. LOL

Anyway, my second favorite of all time is My Fair Lady. And to see that in London...I can't even imagine. It opens on Friday night and we see it on Sunday night so there may still be a few "bugs" to work out but I sprung for the good seats. The 8th row in the center. I'll be singing "I Could Have Danced All Night" for the next couple of months...except when I take a few nights off to sing Billy Joel or Garth Brooks. And Boyz II Men are doing a free concert in Jacksonville on the river. I am so pumped!!

Sydney was accepted to FSU yesterday. They had 75,000 apply but only 45,000 had completed all of the paperwork by the November 1 cutoff. Out of 45,000 there were only 15,000 accepted for fall and 2,500 accepted for summer. Now we wait for next Friday and then we know everything and she can get serious about making a decision. She did go ahead and turn down USF officially yesterday.

And now we know why I cannot retire. LOL I want to see musicals in London and I need to get these kids through college. Although, if the computer doesn't get here today, I guess I won't be starting Monday. I wouldn't feel bad about starting a week from Monday but I don't like not knowing. However, that is our world I guess. (I wish we had an LOL emoji but I'm sure glad we have the eyeroll!)

@LSlycord I cannot imagine how stressful it is waiting for college acceptance news. Give Syd a big hug from me, I know that she has worked super hard.
Thank you so much, you are a love :D If I ever say something that is mean or ignorant, it probably is snark that went down with a thud. Ha. I might doubt myself on some things, but never if my intentions are good ( I *still* feel bad about saying mean things re: LLL and Arlene. And I worry about LL. Still. I can be too nice Hmmmph)
Maybe someday your kids will be more interested in the history and culture of China and I know that you will be there to guide them.
Scott showed me a photo that his friend took of the NYYC skyline from the mountain, it was amazing! I can only imagine how much better it looked in person. I miss going into the City. My family hates it. I would never live there but it is such an awesome place to walk around. The Shore- now that is a place I would move to in a heartbeat if I could. And had several million dollars to buy a house. o_O

So many of you nomads. I am an NJ-Homebody. I have only lived in three houses - my parents', a small condo when we first got married in the same town as my ILs, and the Big Move up here. All 45 minutes away from them. Real big moe hahah! (Not counting the houses- if you want to call them that- when I lived at college in PA)

@BrightEyes Oh yuck that your DD needs to have surgery and will need help in the beginning. Dogs and kids- not a good combo with crutches. That is a good idea for her to stay with you, and I will tell you, no matter what your age, it is always nice to have a mom fuss over you when you don't feel good. :)
How awful that DS and his wife were separated for 2 years! I am so happy for them to be together.
How much snow did you get? It will be nice to have the windows open-- someday!

@mom2triplets04 Are you getting the crazy winds by you too? The temp has dropped 10* since I started typing this post. My lawn is nothing but mud/ice/dog poop. I scooped sooooo much of that yesterday and there is still more under the ice. Stay warm today!

@taxed4ever What a gorgeous hiking spot! And no snow on the ground. Lucky! It must feel so good to be out there and moving, just wait-- the pounds are going to start melting off. You got this!
Congrats to Team Canada on the hockey win! I miss Nancy too. I stalked her FB a few weeks ago and there were pics of her with the new family and she looked very happy. I hope she checks in someday to update us.

@Cherylndesigns Yikes, that would have been a lot of traveling, and to Korea no less. You are a way more adventurous soul than me. Gary once was offered a switch to San Francisco when the kids were very little and I didn't want to go. Good thing he turned it down because the owner of the company literally walked away from it and we would have been stranded.
Thank you for always knowing that I mean well, even when I put my foot in my mouth. :D
Hehe, yeah, no surprise that I don't remember telling you all about my mom and the pacemaker. That whole period of time is a blur.

@tanteva My day/date challenged self must have rubbed off on you. Sorry! ;)
Psst-- it is Friday here but it might be Sat by you depending on when you read this. What? That wasn't helpful? *G*

Cheryl-- There is a generic of that medicine, just that I didn't recognize the name. My family has been on and off so many meds that I usually can recognize if he had one. He had an Rx for the RLS but it didn't help. I cannot remember what it was for the life of me though.
Get this-- one of the sounds that I can't handle is cracking joints. Please don't ever crack your knuckles around me. Nails on a chalkboard, that doesn't bother me at all. Crack a nickel and I am through the roof.
So imagine me and Gary sitting on the sofa after dinner. Relaxing and watching TV. Bam, his ankles and neck go into the twitch mode where he *has* to crack it. Or in bed, while I am already suffering from insomnia. *shudders* It's brutal for both of us.

@scrap-genie I was thinking of you this morning. I got an email from Ancestry that they have DNA updates for me. It is even more specific from my ancestors were located in Italy- Central Southwest Italy, Avellino Province. I was poking around some Italy websites and you can search for surnames within certain areas- such a blast seeing a town with Iantoscas in it.
I can see how genealogy research can be addicitng!

Wow. I am running very late. Better get my day started. xoxoxox

Back for some personals.

@faerywings even a heart of gold must be snarky on occasion. Otherwise we couldn't be friends. ;)
I didn't really think I would like NYC. I always knew that I would enjoy Broadway but I really found that I love it. Like you, I wouldn't want to live there! But I sure like to visit. The first time we went at Christmas...everything was so iconic. The second time we went and watched the Macy's Thanksgiving parade. Both were pre-Covid. Someday we will go again I hope.
Thinking of Cait as she has to make the decision on C! Those things are so hard!

@BrightEyes you have a very busy time ahead. Lots of company. I love having company. It can make me physically tired but mainly it just energizes me! Take your naps now. LOL And your poor son and his wife...2 years would have been torture. The technology today makes it better but still awful. Now you must tell me...is PI the Phillipine Islands? Stay inside and avoid the snow. It will eventually go away.

@mom2triplets04 I feel like we are living parallel lives with the sleeping dog. Decker is feeling quite at home now...which means he gets into trouble trying to "play" with the other dogs. Hayden enjoys it. Andie takes about 5 minutes and then she is ready to nap again. I think he may need more walks to get some of the energy out.

@taxed4ever oh my goodness. Those waterfalls are stunning! What a beautiful area you live in. Glad that Heather and the boys arrived safely and without any trouble from the truckers. I am very fearful that our truckers will go out on strike and really mess up our food chain. Oh well...it is what it is!

@Cherylndesigns I spent the first 18 years of my life in one house. My parents lived in a total of 4 in the 59 years they were married...and the first one was a rental. I would have never expected to be so nomadic but here I am! What is up with you getting another winter. Seriously, take a look at Chris' spring pic at the top and know that it won't last long! I know about the show Lake of the Ozarks but haven't watched it. That may be next on my list.

@tanteva it better have been Friday when you woke up. For real! As a matter of fact, if you want it to be Friday every 3 days, I can live with that.

Have a good day all! Talk to you later.

Wow... slept in until after 7AM! But, then again, I did not nap yesterday so guess my body decided I needed the extra sleep. LOL It is cold here .... 26* when I got up. But it is going to be up into the 50's-60's over the next few days. Our snow (4") only lasted part of a day and most is all melted away. But they are saying we may have a replay next Wednesday/Thursday.

When I turned the computer on this morning, for some reason... my music playlist popped up. I haven't used it for over 3+ years and to be honest... had forgotten that I made it. So I am listening to it while I am here. Oh... now I remember.... I bought my Victrola play-all (records, CDs, cassettes, radio) and set it up near my computer! I switched to using it instead as I have a lot of music on different media and only a few that I have on the computer. Still not sure why the playlist turned on today.

@faerywings Wow.. you have been a homebody.... My parents didn't buy a house until after I got married so we lived in several houses before then - all in the same town. Then DH joined the Navy and we moved all over. I know what you mean about liking to see NY City... but only to visit. We lived on Long Island twice and visited NYC only a few times... usually to take visitors into the city. One memory is when I went up to the top of Tower 1 @ World Trade Center with friends.

@LSlycord I am so happy to help DD#3 and have her stay with me during the first week or two. It will seem like 'old times' when DD#1 and hubby are here, too. Yes, PI is the Philippine Islands. DS#1's wife lives just outside of Manila. If all works right, we hope she will get her Visa to US so she come back with him next month. So happy to hear that your DD has her choice of which college she wants to attend. Oh, WOW... so happy you will get to see the musical while in London!!! And... to get see a concert in Jax!!! Brings memories of when we lived in San Diego and attended a lot of concerts at the Wild Animal Park in the summers.

@taxed4ever What a beautiful place to hike... love the photos - it looks so peaceful!

Time to get another cup of coffee then shower and get dressed. Have a good day.

Good morning ladies... It is cloudy today and rain is supposed to happen tomorrow, but sunshine on Sunday. Crazy mixed bag of weather! Then on Monday, which is a holiday for us here in Canada it is supposed to SNOW!!! Noooo!!! We are headed up to the In-Laws for a work party on Sunday, so hopefully the sun will be out! We will be there with both of DH's sisters and SIL Linda's new man to trim all the hedges and trees and clean out the cupboards in the kitchen and downstairs foyer. How much you want to bet that FIL has all the trimming done before we get there!! I am making a big batch of Broccoli Cheddar Soup to take up and a few other keto things for DH and I to enjoy. I have placed my grocery order and can pick it up this afternoon, so hopefully I will get everything that I ordered. I started a page yesterday and a card for Sadie, so I will try to get those completed today. Other than that I placed an order the other day for a new waterproof mp3 player so I can listen to music or an audio book perhaps while I swim my laps. Its time to get back into the water!! All of our family out East are having a great time being together, the puppy however is chewing away at anything it can get its paws on, so they have had to keep him gated off to a certain part of the house. He has started his shedding of his winter coat too, so everyone is covered in dog hair LOL. They are having a major storm so sure hope it is all cleared up by the time they have to head back on their 6 hour trip home!!

@faerywings - Your poor neighbour having to take her son to have a tonsillectomy!! Hope she wasn't too frightened by you showing up in her garage!! Sounds like you had a very day, cleaning and then spending lots of time in the kitchen! It's always worth it when your hard work is so appreciated! I bet the dinner was fabulous! Hopefully you won't have to cook tonight! How fun that the dogs are learning their button messages!! Poor Caitlyn having to decide when to make the call for Cordelia, so sad and such a hard thing to do! Give some hugs from me!!

@LSlycord - Wow Linda how great to get those perfect seats for the Musical in London! My Fair Lady is one of most fav's!! I have to admit I am a bit jealous LOL. So very happy for you though!! Sounds like your trip is going full steam ahead! That is wonderful! Yes I suppose you will have to keep on working, putting kids through College will put a nice dent in your pocket book, but you know it will be worth it! Congrats to your Sydney for being accepted to FSU!! Sure hope your computer arrives today!

@BrightEyes - I slept until almost 7:30 today too, had a wonderful nights sleep for a change! Isn't it great to have a good sleep?? How fun to have your playlist pop up after all that time!! Strange, but nice! Hope you enjoyed listening to your favourites! Yes our hike was lovely the other day, so many beautiful places to hike here on the Island! I am truly blessed to be able to live here! I know you will love having your DD#3 with you for awhile, enjoy the company!!

Ok I need my second cup of coffee and then I have some cleaning up to do in the craft room. I hope your day is lovely everyone!

Hello my lovelies.

Hugs to all.

It's hard to believe it is Friday, feels like something else.
I'm working on my presentations for tomorrow's computer genealogy group, but it's the last day (until midnight I think) for Puzzle Up and we had one question incomplete. So...I had to take time out to work on it. I thought one part might be wrong and did a search about it and found a different one that combined with what I wanted the answers to be in another part. That led to more answers but needed DH to help getting the final parts. But we DID IT!! So we'll be sending in all 599 parts though I still think a few aren't quite right. But No. 18 I'm sure is right now. BUT now back to my genealogy stuff. And making dinner and trying to go to bed early enough...

Sorry no personals, I'm totally bonkers at this point.
