hello hello hello!
Hope everyone is doing fine today! I am happy that I have a few more things crossed off of my list. So very relieved. I can see the light at the (very far) end of the tunnel but it's there. :D:D:D

I have only one more cookie to bake before Caitlyn and I do the Big Baking tomorrow. Easy toffee bars today, and regular plain shortbreads for the trays made it into the freezer yesterday. Tomorrow is the all-day session but Cait and always crank up tunes and laugh our way through that.
That said, my DD gave me a heart attack yesterday. She texts that she is cleared to leave work at 1 pm because of the weather. 1.30 pm it goes from nothing to the road being coated in minutes. She should be home at 1.45, or 2 pm if she is going slow. 2 pm comes and goes, and no Cait, 2.30 still nothing. I text Tom who hasn't heard from her either. She finally texts us that she is still at work. jeez lousie!!
She made it home fine. It was raining at work so she didn't think much of it. The roads were okay until she got into town up here. But Tom and I were concerned, glad that he didn't mind that I texted him.
I was even able to scrap a page for the Lyrics challenge :D
I roasted two chickens I had in the freezer and made MIL's stuffing recipe. I was bummed, the stuffing wasn't the same as his mom's -- it needed to be softer/mushier but that is ok, now I know. After dinner, we watched Christmas Vacation since the 4 of us were home for a change.
On the list for today, is to make the toffee bars and maybe start some wrapping. And chicken salad, the second chicken is for chicken salad :D

Wishing everyone a fab day!

@LSlycord It must have been fantastic having both kids home. Hayden must be super happy too. How long does Syd have off, 4 weeks? I am jealous of your temps and your sleep. I slept better last night but still on the side of "awful."
That made my heart melt that Syd called you to snuggle. ♥

@vickyday That's a good way to put it, slept hard, not long. I had some crazy dreams in between my periods of waking up so I know I did the same. How cool to find some yarn for baby socks. Did you have a nice dinner with Mark?

@bcgal00 Remi must be non-stop action, especially in the snow. W was having a blast running around out in the snow yesterday. She does this leg-thing where she runs/pounces at the same time and she got herself very wound up doing that. :D
You really did move o one of the best dog-friendly and photography-friendly areas.

@tanteva YES!! ITA with your meme hahahaha

@Cherylndesigns yay for a new tree! I can't get over that you would *start* decorating at 10.30 pm, however.
ROTFLMAO -- you stole my yeehaw! How did the Christmas Walk turn out? I hope you got lots of pics!

Been to the dr this morning. It was such a DELIGHT to do the 15 minute walk there, in the dark (appt were at 8.30, sun wasn't up yet) at -19°C (-2,2°F)!

Turns out I have an inflammation in the ear (Google says otitis in English). Will get penicillin/antibiotics. When I walked home, at least the sun had woken up, but still cold af.

Heating isn't working properly. I'm going crazy. Same today, I'm upstairs in bed. At least I get books read and use for my new reading glasses. But, no scrapping and no knitting done.

Talked to a neighbor across the road. They also had problems getting the house warm. It hasn't been this cold in a while, I guess even the houses are shocked. LOL Dug out my proper winter coat this week. Found a receipt in the pocket, from December 18, 2019. The winters have been mild the last few years.

Like a proper Swede - all I talk about is health & weather.

Good morning ladies. Slowly getting going today. I'm layered up because it was only 47* when I got up. Oh MY!!! Brian got up 5:30. Sydney came into our room at about 4 and brought Hayden. She then slept on the floor until Brian got up and she crawled into bed with me. I offered to move over and give her some space at 4 but she didn't want it. Which is a good thing because the dogs take up a lot of space on that bed! She is still sleeping.

Brian had the fire going on the lanai when I got down here a little after 7 and he made French toast and bacon. So it's been a slow start to the morning.

We talked about the Christmas menu last night at supper and we are switching it up. Instead of ham, we are doing prime rib (as long as we have ham balls). Instead of green bean casserole, we are having fresh green beans cooked with orange juice, butter, onions, brown sugar and pecans. Instead of mashed potatoes and gravy, we are doing scalloped potatoes. We are having macaroni and cheese. And I'm not sure about dessert. So we have a good start.

Found out that Shaun is scheduled to work on Christmas day from 6-1. He asked if I wanted him to try to get out of it but I said that would work fine...it gives me a little more time for dinner prep. And I think that we will probably open presents on Christmas Eve.

So today is grocery shopping day. And catch up in the gallery day! And enjoy my family being home day!

Have a good day all. I'll be back in a few for personals.

LOL! @faerywings you might not be doing quite as well as you think you are. It is definitely not December 26 and your wishing won't make it so. Now I am absolutely heartbroken that we don't have the LOL emoji.#cryI need a LOL emoji!

(BTW...I didn't notice it when I came into the gallery the first time so I may be a bit off myself.:oops::rolleyes:)

I can't believe that you had to worry about Cait like that. Although I do think that there may have been a few times (or more than a few) that I caused my parents that kind of worry. I have to tell you that I don't miss the snow! Sydney goes back on January 8 so I have a little over 3 weeks left with her. I know it will fly by.

@tanteva I am in awe of the way you walked in the cold and darkness to the doctor with an ear infection to boot. I would be staying in bed in this cold weather too. Hope you have some really good books to read! And, in less than a week, the days will start getting longer!

BRRRRR!!! Another cold morning... was only 21*F and only getting up into the high 30's today. It was like that yesterday with wind blowing (wind chill about 29) while I was out running errands. Dropped off mail then over for a meeting with my personal banker and stop at the grocery store (in the same block as the bank). Came home with a honeydew melon and a small personal sized watermelon (on sale for $0.99 each). Peeled and cut up the honeydew and had it with supper. It was so sweet and delicious. Will cut up the watermelon tomorrow. Seems strange to be eating melons in the winter. Guess the warm weather lasted later so there has been some later harvests. I had a nice long phone chat with DD#1 that the morning before running errands. Good to get caught up what is doing with her and the family.

I worked on the December DVD inventory a couple of days ago and printed it out. When I was using the early Nov inventory to mark the "watched DVDs" in the new Dec inventory, I discovered that I forgot to save the Nov inventory- had only printed it out but not saved it. Not sure how that happened. #dk Good thing I caught it. Now the paper Dec inventory is all marked up with DVDs I no longer have (gave a bunch of them away) and handwritten in DVDs that I got in November! Decided to wait until I buy more DVDs to add to the list to update it on the computer. The hand was telling me I had been typing too long by then. I will be putting the new DVDs into the bookcase today. Glad to have them off the kitchen table finally. And I did get the laundry done while I was also working on the inventory... so my 'to do list' for this week is done. :D

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

@vickyday I hope that everyone was feeling well enough to go to supper at Ruby Tuesday. That sounds good to me! And I can't wait to see the little baby socks that you are going to knit! Hope the rain eases up and that the basement can dry a bit! And I think that I'm going to start a new Charles Martin book...Chasing Fireflies. But this time it is going to be on Audible so we will see how I feel about that!

@bcgal00 I think that combining grocery shopping with the reward of the dog park is a very good idea! Love your ice hockey game with Remi. I miss seeing Andie out in the snow. She did so love it! And Syd will be home until after the New Year so I'm extremely grateful!

@Cherylndesigns I am so glad that you solved the Christmas tree dilemma. But I sure do wish the mystery was solved of where the base went. My Nancy Drew sleuthing skills aren't quite enough to solve the problem.

@BrightEyes brr...that sounds really cold to be outside in that weather. But I do know it can be done. LOL The melons sound like a good treat to add to supper. And glad that you got a chance to catch up with your daughter. Also, you've got your inventory caught up. Congratulations to you!

Good morning ladies. Today is the day I inventory, photograph and price my camera stuff. I have narrowed it down to two cameras, so will either get the used 60 mp sony and will order a 150-600 mm lens for it and a 50 mm prime or will order a nikon a7r iv 45 mp with an adapter that allows me to use whatever current lenses I keep. None of my lenses are full frame lenses though so that is not a big deal. What I would like is to sell at least a few pieces so I can offset the cost of the better camera and wildlife lens. It's going to cost a fortune no matter what so I really want to recoup some of the cost.

But no matter what I end up with I know I'll enjoy it. Less weight, easier to walk around with. I am keeping my sony bridge camera rx10 iv as a walk around camera for day trips and travelling. So it feels good to have narrowed things down.

Today is the christmas train arrival in Kamloops but not sure if I am going. The parking is going to be insane and I just don't know if I feel like walking in the bitter cold for 20 minutes or longer after I park far away. Have to think about it.

We started watching "So Help Me Todd" and we both like it. The two main actors are very good in their roles, its a comedy drama series.

@faerywings I bet your stuffing was good, you are always so critical of yourself. Glad C made it home ok. Sounds like you are organized for today's schedule.

@LSlycord Your menu sounds so yummy. We will be having turkey but honestly, I would prefer your menu. My hubs and Jen would be mortified if I didn't cook a turkey so...I will, for them.

@tanteva sorry for the ear infection, hope you feel better soon.

@BrightEyes I like melons and that was a good price, I would have bought it for sure. Enjoy.

It's time to go feed the birds, I'm running late today, but they have seed left over from yesterday so I didn't need to rush. Remi of course is whining and is restless b/c she knows we were supposed to do our job over an hour ago :)

ROTFLMAO -- you stole my yeehaw! How did the Christmas Walk turn out? I hope you got lots of pics!
You KNOW I'm a night owl. Of course, I would START decorating a tree at 10:30. I had my own dance/decorating party complete with my rockin' Christmas music. My jam doesn't even start until late evening. Hahaha I don't get my **** together until about 7 PM. I used to say 6 PM, but I've nudged it to 7 PM.

I'll bet you were scared out of your mind over Cait! Whenever there's a bad storm coming, everybody is on high alert, anyway. Sad that the stuffing didn't turn out like you remembered. That happens so often to me. I think it's my expectations, based on memories.

The Christmas walk was fantastic! It's new this year and is called The Route 66 Christmas Chute". We didn't get home until almost 10 pm. Chuck was just getting ready to go to bed. (Opposites really do attrack, huh?) He's a morning person - UGH. Really, really a fun girl's night out! It was in Sapulpa which is an hour and a half away. We're riding over there and 17 yo Alyssa says "What's the big deal about Route 66?" So, we had to educate her. I'm not sure she was terribly impressed. LOL

Here's my favorite picture from last night.

Linda @LSlycord this is the biggest mystery ever about that tree base. Everybody looked all over for it, and it just vanished. The end of the box had been opened, so somehow it got out of the box. Anyhoo, the tree debacle has been solved by getting a new one. I like the new one - it's a bit smaller than our other one, but our house is smaller now and I think this one fits better. It's 6 and a half feet tall, just smaller around. You're so right - we NEED a laughing out loud emoji - I love that one that literally rolls on the floor - ROTFLMAO. We could use that one as crazy as this bunch is.

Sounds like your Christmas menu will be delicious. We're having such a small Christmas this year - we'll have dinner in the evening at Adrienne and Roger's and the kids' friends will be there, too. I guess Braden won't even be here - All the "separation" is starting already. He's going to Dubai with his dad and his other grandma (his Bubby). Somehow, I spaced that they'd be gone ON Christmas. They're Jewish, so probably didn't think anything about it. Although, when his dad was part of the family, he really seemed to enjoy Christmas - he wore a (blue) Santa hat, though. LOL I just remembered that. Blue is a Hannukah color. Braden and Alyssa aren't Jewish because it's determined by the mother, not the father. Long story short, or short story long, B won't even be here. Everybody is coming here for one evening - we haven't decided. No friends, us. We haven't figured out when because we have to work around Alyssa's work schedule.

Hugs to all and happy Friday.

Which really isn't a bad plan!

Eva @tanteva and Linda, I agree that would be great. @faerywings I guess I don't even look at the date on the Daily Ooos so I missed it too. I got my contest submission in but I'm behind on other things and trying to get caught up. o_O

Cheryl @Cherylndesigns I wondered where you were doing the Route 66. My BiL in Tulsa lives half a block from R66, so we've seen a lot of it there. Glad you had a great time even if the kidlet doesn't get it.

Given Eva's temperatures (or lack thereof) how can the rest of us complain?

Anyway, time to make dinner whatever that'll be. ;)

I slept pretty well last night, thank the Lord! I got up at 8:30 as Ilene was calling, LOL! Went and spent the day with her. She fixed us a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast. Mine had mayo while hers had mayo AND jalepeno, LOL! Almost 83 and she is eating stuff that would KILL me! #dk I had heartburn 15 minutes after I ate, LOL!

Meanwhile, Mark is home, in the woods.....putting up the first wall of the cabin! Oh my! It looks beautiful!

Mark said he thinks he will need to cut down 2 more trees, mill the boards and that should cover the rest of it!

When I left Ilenes at 5:00, I went to the grocery store and then fixed supper when I got home. Baked chicken with roasted veggies. We ate, did our nightly Bible reading and are now watching TV before bed....for Mark, LOL! It's still early for me! ;)

Well, have a good rest of the evening and weekend! I may or may not be back in this weekend!
