Well, i think you will all be proud of me. Gary is, he told me so :) I *finally* made a decision that is better for *me* for a change. Its shocking, isn't it? I was supposed to go down and clean for my brother and SIL today. They have been so busy and they obviously want to spend their time with their baby, not cleaning the house. My brother was getting into an OCD panic, so I offered to help them out. But I called yesterday to cancel. If i went down, its about an hour from me, plus at least 4-5 hours working, I would be toast by the time I got home. I only have this weekend to do my baking, so I had to make a choice- either push myself and pay for it, or to take today off and get my strength back. I feel bad for them, but I know in my heart that I made the right decision.

So I sort of technically have the day off. I am not babysitting today either, so all I have to do is get the kids to the bus, clean the bathrooms, balance the check book (blergh!) and then I am scrapping and scrapping. Baking is tomorrow- so i should be good to go!

How about all of you? DO you have anything you have to Finish for Finish It Friday?

hope everyone has a relaxing and happy day!!

WTG Chris! It's so important to learn how to say "no" when you need to! I've learned that the hard way!

I have ton of stuff to finish ... don't know where to start. I was sitting here hoping my sis would call and ask if I wanted to go shopping - usually happens on Fridays. But she finished work 15 minutes ago, and haven't called so I guess it's not happening today. So - I guess first thing I need to do NOW is to go downstairs and see if I can find something in the freezer for dinner today. Had other plans, but I don't feel like walking to the store today. Icy roads - no fun!

Oh laurie- I think we need to send you bubble wrap. The way your poor family has been having health issues, we need to protect you. Good thoughts to your SIL. Enjoy your vacation away from work!!!

Donna- *tickle fight!!!* (Did that make you laugh, maybe just a bit??)
I hear ya on the "job" of taking care of your mom. I know that you do it with love, but I am sure it is very time consuming. When we all first got diagnosed with Lyme, i used to joke that my Full time job was just keeping medications straight and organized and my second full time job was dealing with doctors and insurance companies! I guess in a way, its good to look back and see how far we have come, at least in the organizational aspect :D

laurie- how sweet! Coffee is always a great gift, right? I find Starbucks too strong for me, but I know lots of people love it! Hope you were able to sleep at night

Hugs Fran~~~ How did Mom do yesterday? Safe trip to see her. Please let her know that she has an extended O-Fam thinking of her.

Hi Clara! Are you getting really excited about going back home?? I bet you are!
Its sad to me that hospitals and child services get more busy, I am sure traffic cops feel the same with accidents. It makes me sad b/c i step back and realize all of the pressure we put on ourselves at this time of year, rushing around to get presents, and "stuff."
That is really scary about Dave. Its great that he has everything all in place, sad but necessary. It also reminds me I need to update my living will. I had it so that I would donate my organs, but with Lyme, I can't. Instead, I want to donate them for Lyme research.

I wish Dave a very safe and boring deployment. Tell him that this tree hugger hippie supports all of the troops and wants him back home safe and sound. I wish I could give them all huge hugs and say thank you.

Phyllis- good to see you made it out of the Cave alive! You minimalist decorating sounds neat- any pics to share??

Eva!! Can i come to your house for Christmas????

Trudy- 5 out in one day? At this time of year? ahhh! Hope that yesterday was very calm and quite for you. Were you able to finish your calendars?

Maureen- excellent news about your hubby!!!
Hope you had a great day as well. ALS-- *shudders* That disease scares me more than anything. Did you know that some patients with ALS have had autopsies done and Lyme bacteria have been found in their brains? Same with Alzheimer's. That's pretty scary to thiank about too.
Anyway- on to happier topics.... have you heard the 12 Pains of Christmas song? We played that my kids after Scott put the lights up on our tree and front steps. Its hysterical. "Why the heck are they blinking??"

J- you are not alone in feeling like a mother hen. My O-Fam is like my brood as well, and I think about all of you all day long.
Just knowing that you are on the other side of our monitors thinking of all of us makes the O a happier place. hugs to you!!

Better get going.

Love and hugs and joy! *throws confetti*

:D

Morning all and happy 'finish it Friday!'...........love that term for some reason.

Up early and having my coffee and checking on you ladies. Hoping to accomplish a number of things this AM and then turn on some Christmas tunes and wrap some gifts today. I'm not a tea drinker, but bought some cranberry and pomegrante tea 'cause it sounded so festive and will make some of that with my tunes and wrapping paper. Getting my layers ready for the Chiefs vs Packers game this weekend. Actually, the temps will be pretty good yet for a mid-December football game.

Chris-Enjoy your day and thanks for the smile.

Eva-Received your Beautiful card yesterday and so fun to open a card from across the miles so thank you.

This is such a wonderful girlfriend thread and I appreciate you all very much ladies.
Continued prayers to those with loved ones who are ill.
Enjoy your day, all.

Good Morning Ladies.....

Good News - Mom is off the resperator and breathing on her own. So far so good, my sister said that she was eating ice chips and eating jello. WOW a great first step to recovery. Sounds like she won't need the help of a trach.....I'm heading down there around 9 my time and spend the weekend there.

I want to thank everyone for your prayers, they really do work and are much appreciated.

Chris - definately made the right choice for you. With all you need to do it's important to have your strength or you'll relapse and won't be any help to anyone. There are always other times to help them out.

Morning peeps!

Dick has just left for WVA so I have the day to myself again. Some clean up downstairs and then back to some scrapping this afternoon. Laundry going in as soon as I write this.

Chris - So glad you were able to say Sorry, but not now. Those "no"s are as important as your more frequent yes's. A day to R>E>L>A>X~~~~~~>
Maybe even a nap!

Fran - so glad Mom is able to breathe and swallow. Enjoy the visit with less worry!

Donna - I'm normally a black decaf tea drinker but I have some froufrou blends that just hit the spot in the afternoon. They tend to merge into the 3pmish decaf espresso.

Well back to my quiet time, and if it's not too cold this am, a walk outside. Happy Friday everyone!

the rain has stopped. so that's good. i have to drive 30 miles today to buy some dried mushrooms for my Christmas Eve sauerkraut soup.

Chris, i am SO happy you decided to take a day off. days off are a good thing. especially for people who DO SOMUCH!

Frani, this is wonderful news! your mom seems to have sprung back admirably. anyone who eats chips first thing is alright! once when i was in the hospitaland only vaguely aware of my own existence, a friend of mine told me that, when she came to visit and asked whether there was anything she could do for me, i told her to buy me a bag of chips!

Eva, most of what i have to do, Christmas-related, is CLEANING. and it's way too early to start that in MY house. the whole thing would be a mess again in a few days, then i'd have to do it all over again!

Donna, i'm always sucked in by something like "pumpkin spice" flavors at this time of year. then i buy them and hate them. i think it's the nutmeg. can't abide nutmeg, unless it's in an egg custard pie.

Maureen: ah, solitude....

it seems that this has been a trying week for a lot of people. let's hope that the Peace of Christmas descends on all of us.

always chatty at the O!!
Hey ladies!! I have so much to do...so I AM PLOPPING MY BUTT DOWN AND CHIT CHATTING WITH YOU GUYS. Oooops...I accidentally hit the caps lock but don't want to retype. Seriously...just hopping in real quick. I am going to try really hard to limit my internet time while I am in WA...we'll see how that goes. Maybe I'll just scrap and not play on the internet. We'll see. I do have a ton to do but I don't have anymore running around...just packing and cleaning. My DH was such a brat last night. I made a mess getting things together and he acted like it wasn't his problem.

Okay...I've gotta run. Ahhhhhhh!! So much to do!!!

My sister did call - did get some grocery shopping done, and I'm sooo happy for that right now. We just had dinner - and it was YUMMY!

Here's what I did:
Chicken breasts - cut in bite sized chunks - browned (w. salt, pepper, onion powder + garlic powder). Put in a small oven pan. Cut 1 red bell pepper into strips - sliced one banana. Put over the chicken. Mixed 1 cup cream with 1 teaspoon curry, 1 tablespoon sambal oelek and 3 tablespoons mango chutney. Pour over chicken - bake in oven like 15 min til done. Serve with rice ... YUMMY!
