Whew, we made it!
20022124.png

It's Friday and it's finally sunny and heading to warm temps in NJ again. It stayed cold most of the day yesterday so I didn't make it outside at all. Gary and I were getting ready to take the dogs out but it was freezing so we postponed until today.
Overall it was a better day than earlier in the week, I worked on a scrap page and was pleased with how it came out. I love using layer masks. Would you believe I didn't know how to work with them until a couple of years ago? I used to do extractions with the Eraser Tool. Not a lot of room for mistakes.

The highlight of my day: Gary made penne and vodka and I baked homemade Italian bread so dinner was *delish*
After dinner, we did one more section of our Lego pirate ship, only two more sections to go.
One more small highlight/Go Me moment: I am now able to do planks in yoga!! :dance2: The video I did yesterday had a lot of planks and I was able to hold it through each of them. I couldn't do one pose where you twist from a plank to the edges of your feet and raise your arm overhead. I am even getting *slightly* more stable doing Tree Pose. I can't lift my foot to my knee but I can place it on my ankle and hold it for a few seconds before I start to tip.

If it warms up enough early on, Gary and I will take the dogs for a walk or hike. I am going to spend the afternoon in the yard. There is still so much work to be done. Although... I think I am ahead of where I was this time last year. IIRC, April and May were very cold last year.

FinishItFriday:
Hmm, what do I want or need to finish today? I should work on my filing basket which is close to overflowing. *looks at basket* Matter of fact, it *is* overflowing. Hmmph. I started to clean up the little office area yesterday so it makes sense that I attempt to do a little more today.

On that note, I wish all of you a happy and healthy day~~ HUGS!!!

@Nonni F LOL at your Dysfunctional Veterans group. I can only imagine the aped/gallows humor you all have. I wouldn't understand any of it, but I get where it comes from. On a much lower level, when Gary was first sick and everything was a total mess, I developed an odd sense of humor too. I have always had a strange sense of humor but that time frame really brought it out. I was doing an intake for Intensive Outpatient Treatment for anorexia and had asked my mom to come with me for support. We were walking through the parking lot and there was vomit. Pointed that out -- "Oh look, the bulimics are here!!!"
My mom was not only unamused, she was appalled that I was laughing at that. Appalled.
The family has a now long-time running joke about the vet that has put down two of our pets. We have an entire scenario that the next time he "kills our pet," we are going to wait until he checks for a heartbeat, and then cry out "You did WHAT to our dog???"
We. Are. Awful.
(NB: We would not actually do this, it is just how we weirdly cope with that situation)

*whispers so the Fates don't hear me* I haven't gotten [it] either. Maybe we are mutants? It would explain a lot. :floorlaugh:

@taxed4ever Oh thank goodness you are feeling better!! My Gary's smell and taste came back pretty quickly - within a week- so hopefully you get yours back soon. Rest as much as you can so you don't relapse.
What a "relief," for lack of a better word, that the internment is rescheduled. Hopefully, you will be all good to go when they have it.
I wish I could come and help clean up your yard but there would be no way I could keep pace with your Gary :whip4:

@LSlycord New construction *and* close to the beach?? Cannot ask better than that!! When do I move in? :giggle4:
The one-level floor plan makes sense. I look at our staircase and shudder when I think of how I will get up there in the future. That future must be coming faster than I hoped because the cashier at the store offered me a Senior Citizen Discount!!
(Talk about emotional devastation- I am not 65 yet. I look older than I am recently, but not quite there...)
Have a wonderful time seeing Syd tomorrow!
You never have to thank me for being a friend. xo

Posting this quickly and will BRB!
I am back, not sure what was happening but my computer kept switching tabs on me and I didn't want to lose the post.

@Cherylndesigns One Armed Willie!!! That is so funny! I swear our kooky families would be dangerous together- like I called my Dad Gorbechov last week. heh
Did you get the mulch done? I want to see pictures soon, please. (I still think you need to get that baby plant stroller...)
I was thinking of you the other day too, glad that your area didn't get hit by the tornados

Welcome back, @vickyday! The vacation sounds wonderful even if you were cold- it was chilly in NJ too, and after the weather the week earlier, it was a shock! I am glad that you are feeling better- yay!

Take care and have a fab day, everyone!

Good morning ladies. Time is flying by. We start with room service coffee at 7:15 and then the day flies by. We have been hanging out everyday with 3 other couples we met on day 1 and keep busy with games and shows together and have dinner together every night. We are going to try to book a cruise with them next year. We’re having fun. It is hot and humid. Poor D has swollen ankles but is managing.

@faerywings you are doing so well with yoga. Planks are hard. I do them but it takes a long time to build up endurance. We have a weird sense of humour too lol

@LSlycord bought a new home? Is that happening! I missed all the info being MIA this past week didn’t I!

@taxed4ever covid? I missed all the earlier posts but that was implied by Chris I think. If so, recover quickly.

I need more coffee and will relax on the balcony with my book for a few minutes before heading up to the buffet. We are at sea today but will be busy with game shows this afternoon and then Elton John tribute show followed by a ventriloquist show. Love the entertainment here.

I’ll pop in again soon. Bfn

YAY for Friday! Except I wish I were still in Amish Country and that today was a day of touring and pictures. Maybe next time!
Go YOU on your yoga accomplishments!
FIF - I H.A.T.E. filing stuff! My to-file-pile ALWAYS is overflowing!

Thanks! Good to be back.....kinda! LOL! It was a fun girls get-away but it wasn't long enough! They like to shop and I would rather have toured and taken pictures of the Amish Countryside! The guys were out working in their fields.......their beautiful, pristine fields! Plowing with horses.....such wonderful scenes! And their farms are HUGE and BEAUTIFUL, as are their homes. The little boys and girls in their Amish outfits are soooo cute! We were at one place to get some of their homemade ice cream and the cows on the farm were beautifully colored! Prettiest cows I ever did see! ;)

I LOVED the shows on the cruise we took back in 2002!
Hoping your eyes are not bothering you now!

Good Morning!
It's (somewhat) good to be back! I was so tired I went to bed with Mark last night at about 11. That NEVER happens! Went right to sleep and we didn't wake up until 8 this morning!

It was a 7 hour trip back from Amish Country in Pennsylvania.....without stopping for food and gas and delays. We did really well all the way around. We left at 10 and I got dropped off first at home here at 6. The first driver had a pretty heavy foot! We didn't stop for food and gas until around 2:30. I drove the last leg of the trip.

Sunday, we left at 8 and drove to Arlington, VA for the night. The traffic was HORRIBLE! The 5 hour trip took us 8.5 hours!
Monday, we crossed over into Washington, DC for the Holocaust Museum tour. Our scheduled time was Noon. We finished up around 3:30 and went to their cafe for a snack before we hit the road for Strasburg, PA, our destination. We arrived around 7 after stopping for food to take to the hotel.
Tuesday, we did a little shopping before our 3 p.m. scheduled Sight & Sound Theater showing of "Moses". IT WAS WONDERFUL! It was loud! Poor Mark would not be able to stand it. His ears would start ringing immediately from the noise!
Wednesday, shopping.
Thursday, travel home.

It was a good week! The weather, until yesterday, was cloudy and COLD and WINDY! I had taken capris in case it was warm in the afternoons. HA! I wore a sweater topped off with a jacket the whole time! I was afraid I was getting sick as my throat was feeling rough yesterday after being out in the wind ALL day on Wednesday! But it seems to be OK today.

Now to get the few pictures I got off of my phone and onto my thumb drive so I can scrap! I need to work on my challenge for May and remove myself from the MIA list so I can (hopefully) find an Amish kit to scrap with!

Have a great day!

Welcome back, Vicky! So very glad you're feeling better.
@faerywings I literally laughed out loud at your "the bulimics are here" comment. I do stuff like that as well. ...and the more stressful a situation, the more sarcastic we get. I think that's where a lot of military or police humor comes from. Sometimes it's the only way to deal with some situations. I often say if I don't laugh I'll cry.
@bcgal00 glad you're having so much fun on the cruise!
So glad it's Friday. Not sure I'll be working in the yard or not. We shall see. Half my face is still a blistery mess as is one arm and my hands. After five solid days I'm sort of regretting I didn't go to the doctor and get an injection. I'm definitely not looking pretty that's for sure. At least the seeping has stopped.

Good afternoon all.

Chris, glad you feel better and that it's warmer. Our families would be dangerous together. We had THE whackiest sense of humor and laugh inappropriately (I've told you that). It's a defense mechanism and we KNOW it's wrong on so many levels, but it has gotten us through a lot of rough times, as I know your humor has, too. We haven't gotten the mulch down yet (I think it's going to wait til the weekend. I went ahead and made a collage of the "after" but "before mulch" because I just can't wait. I wish I'd taken before-before pictures. I have a good one of One-Armed Willie and yes, I cracked up at your name for your dad. I finally got climbing plants for my arch - they're black eyed Susan vineing plants. There's a close-up of one of them. They're going to be so pretty.

Trudy @taxed4ever I'm so glad you're feeling better and I forgot to thank you for the well-wishes for Roger. He had a pretty rough go of it but as you can see, you can't keep a good man down.

Hugs to all and Happy Friday!

Hi everyone! I am very late getting in here today, I have had a bit of relapse with this dam Covid and feeling really awful again today, uggh I am so done with this!! DH is home from work as he took the day of for his Aunt Marions Internment which was cancelled, but he is now out at the grocery store to pick something up for supper tonight. I am not up to cooking anything today. Sure hope tomorrow is better. The only good thing that has happened with illness is I have dropped 5lbs, but don't recommend this method of weight loss!! Still can't smell or taste anything or do much of anything else except collapse on the couch or back in bed to sleep even more.. :holysheep:I just want to be better!! Saying thank you all for the well wishes and sure hope none of you ever get this! :waving1

@taxed4ever Ugh! It is pure evil. Rest. Even if it feels like you can sleep no longer. I'm so sorry you're feeling worse again. Fingers crossed tomorrow is a better day.
@Cherylndesigns oooh! Look at all that beautiful greenery! I tad bit further north than Chris and am soooo looking forward to things coming back to life. It's slowly starting... some daffodils are now blooming in my garden and I see hints of lilac buds coming to life.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm going to do my best to stay away from the poison ivy. Funny how it can still get you when the leaves aren't even out. ggrrrrr

PEACE

We're in a fairly moderate growing zone. Zone 7 and I just bought my ferns to hang on my porch and today I got all of my plants in the ground. It felt so good! Now, we'll probably go to the nursery this weekend and I'll buy more, but for now, I'm done. LOL
