Happy Friday!

Is April 4th a "day?" I feel like it should be a birthday or a holiday but nothing is on my calendar. Do you ever get that feeling? Maybe I am getting it mixed up with May 4th and Star Wars Day. [shrugging smilie]
Do we have a shrug/no idea smilie anymore? We used to but if we do, I can't find it.

Anyway- how was everyone's day? I think I had a decent day. I don't think I muttered and grumbled any more than usual. I spent some time working on the eco-anxiety lessons and activities and I scrapped a little while in the afternoon.
Scott popped in for a quick visit in the morning and caught up with him, and shared some bird videos in person for a change *G*
And that was that. Thursday, April 3 in the books.

My mom and dad *might* be coming up today. I'd love to see my dad but he is unable to hear at all right now. Both ears are kaput. The bad ear is consistently out, while the hearing in the "good" ear comes and goes. From what he told me yesterday, it's more gone than not.
He sees the audiologist next week IIRC. Until then, it's hard for him to be out of the house and not hear a thing.

So that is about it.

Sending everyone big hugs!

Damp and cloudy here today too.
Show us your walking stick!
Yes, birds do some crazy stuff! So fun to watch!
Same here with the weather.
I don't think anything will show up in a photo on the the walking stick but if I add any more to it, I'll see what I do :)
The birds seriously crack me up.
What fun things did you and Ilene get up to yesterday?

Quick in and out for me this morning. DD#1 and hubby's flight should be landing about now. They had a couple of stops to make on the way to my house. DD#3 will be heading down here in about 2 hours. Her son is off today and will stay with his dad so she can down. Just got a FB post that DSon#1 and wife are about 4 hours away from DD#2's (they are driving there). And DSon#2 and wife will be arriving there in a couple of hours, too. So glad that the boys and their wives will be with Leslie. Don't think I will be back in here until after the weekend is over.
Thinking of you and the family ~~~~~
Good morning ladies. I think I'll be driving over to the hospital today or tomorrow. D is so stubborn but I think his tiredness and flushed face is another Crohn's fistula starting up and it always requires a hospital stay to take care of it. He is putting it off this morning but at any time he'll say its time to go. I don't blame him, at the hospital he has to wait hours to be seen and his last experience was not pleasant with the staff so I'll leave it to him to decide when and what to do.
Stubborn men. :(
I hope that he goes in sooner than later. Maybe the fistula won't be as bad and the healing will be easier. Maybe?

@bitzee hello again!! :waving1

Today is a do nothing day. Even with. sitting several times yesterday, it was still a lot of standing. I was very achey in my feet and my ankles were swollen but it was still less pain than in in the past. We have three more weeks of dinners and then I have a 3 week break before the next surgery. I've blocked my calendar off for three weeks post surgery so I remember to not schedule anything during that time.
*gentle hugs* I hope that the aches and pain and swelling are better today.
Smart of you to block off the three weeks after surgery. No eye appts this time around. *taps forehead* Good thinking ♥

Got to go to the pool now then get ready for party so that is it for me today. Ill try to get back tomorrow.
I wish I could have been sitting at the pool yesterday, that sounds amazing.
Meanwhile, I am stoked that my forsythia is blooming. My friend across the street's daffodils are up and I love seeing that. Mine are still buried under the dead leaves. As soon as I am out of this boot, I will clear the leaves off of them so they get some sunshine. They are probably all pale and sickly looking.

@taxed4ever The weather must be turning into real Spring by you. How exciting that you are getting ready for kayaking.
Enjoy your pedi today!

WHAAAAATTT?????? You think I wont take it easy??? That I'll over do it?????? Nooooooooo not me!!!!! :floorlaugh: :whistle2::haloslip:
:lol23:

I worked so hard yesterday, it's hard to remember I'm retired! That old feeling of almost-aching back after sitting in front of the computer all day. But I did write a newsletter for the Trails Crew and learned how to make a popup on the Chorus web site for a fund-raising project. I am hoping to get a challenge done today, since it's kind of rainy so no bike ride. At least the forecast for Saturday in DC keeps getting warmer and less likely to rain, so my protest day is looking like it will be more comfortable than anticipated.
An aching back is always better when it's because of outdoor work instead of desk work. I'm glad that the weather is going to be good in DC tomorrow. There is a protest about 20 minutes from me but I won't be able to get to the site. I was there for a protest in 2018 and there isn't any easy parking and it's all on steep hills. Not easy to navigate in the boot. Please think of me tomorrow, I'll be with you in spirit!

I have become totally addicted to the eagle camera from California with two new babies.
I haven't watched that one, but I still check in on the pandas often. My BFF was at the Zoo last weekend and I am crazy-jealous of her :D
This afternoon I thought we had two plump doves sitting on the fence around the blueberries. They seemed so contented just sitting there watching me. Then I looked closer and saw that David had left his work gloves outside yesterday.
BWUAHAHAHAHAH!!!! :coffeescreen:
I did the same thing years ago. I had to drive past a frozen pond to get to work. I was devastated every morning because a duck was frozen in the ice. I pointed it out to Gary and he looked at me like I was insane.
It was a branch.
:rotfl:

Good morning. Don't faint, Chris @faerywings - yes, I'm REALLY up this earl and thought I'd pop in and surprise you. SURPRISE. :floorlaugh: I don't see daylight this early very often, as you know. I had a terrible night - I don't think I slept at all, so I finally got up. Been working on my AJ challenge. Do you remember when my byline (here) was "I'd rather scrap than eat or sleep"? Well, that was me from about 5 am til now. I think I'm making progress on it, but my vision isn't translating onto the page like I want.

How is the healing going for you? Any time frame from your doctor as to when you'll be all healed up?

That's so nice that Scott has been over and that your parents hopefully will be over too. That's such a shame about your dad's hearing loss. I've had a sinus infection and my left ear has been totally plugged and I got a taste of what a hearing loss is like. I normally hacw cwey acute hearing so this has been a big change for me.

It's raining so hard, and we've had thunder and lightning. But I've heard the birds singing, too. Weird. Guess what? I found my prescription glasses two days ago. So, I've already been to the eye doctor and ordered new ones, but these are pretty scratched, so it was time. What a difference these have made. I've been wearing those dratted bifocals and craning my neck to see my monitor. I've actually gotten a "crick" in my neck from it. My new glasses should be coming in anytime now. When I went in, I was complaining so much about the bifocals. The doctor said, since they were fairly new, that as soon as I got my close ups, they'd sent my bifocals in and have my distance prescription put in the frames that I already have. They're even going to have the transition (color) in them. How nice is that?

Hello to everybody and have a wonderful day. XOXO

Quick stop in this morning as I'm leaving to get a pedicure in ten minutes. It gets harder and harder to reach my own feet.
Nothing much going on today. I'm putting together a store of meatless recipes for when I'm cooking for the grands next week. The 11-year-old has decreed we need to eat less meat, and she's 1000% absolutely right. I've tried out a few here at home and David has even liked some of them. I'm looking at some that involve tempeh - I have no idea what that is, but I'll try to find some at Trader Joe's today when I'm in town and see what I can do. Also looking forward to Duke alumni watch party at a local brewery tomorrow night (they are in the men's NCAA Final Four) and I'm hoping I won't be so tired from the day in DC and the 2-hour drive back that I fall asleep over my lager.

@faerywings Even though David has lost hearing in only one ear, it is a huge adjustment for both of us. His hearing aid helps but it doesn't make life like it was. It shifts sounds from his bad ear to his good, and he never knows where anyone talking to him is. I try to be patient when he doesn't hear, but by the end of some days it's hard. I feel for your dad, and for everyone else around him.

@Cherylndesigns My glasses get scratched up so quickly! I don't know why, as I wear them all the time. I don't need them on the computer, but I do for near and far vision, so I take them off when I'm working at my desk. I get new ones at Costco, not crazy expensive. Good luck with yours!

Off to get my toes done. Happy it's warm enough for shorts and flip flops. HAGD

Happy :friday:everyone!! Not that its any different than other day now. Got lots of yard work done yesterday and lots more to work on again today. It is very foggy however so it might not get started until later on in the day. Like @Terri M I am going to have my toes done today with SIL Linda and she will most likely want to do some other running around while we are out. I get the Gel finish on my toes, so I don't have to worry about wearing flip flops, it's still a bit chilly for them. Yesterday SIL Veronica bought her new electric lawn mower and my Gary showed her how easy it was to use. Hopefully she will get the hang of it easily, she is kind of excited to start using it. Then we had supper together and had such a nice visit! It was good to chat and reminisce about my brother and all the wonderful places and things that they had seen together! She still plans to travel to Australia to spend part of the year with her children and grandchildren, but also wants to continue travelling the world , but most likely with a tour company instead of on her own, like Tom and her used to do all the time. She certainly has a wanderlust!! Anyway I better get busy and get on with my day.

Sorry that your Dad is having such a terrible time with his hearing!! I hope that the Dr. can figure something out to help with it! I hope that the birds keep you entertained again today!

Hi Cheryl so nice to see you here in the Daily O's !! Sounds like you have had some crazy weather like the rest of us. How nice to be getting the new glasses, it will certainly help with that crink in your neck!

Eat less meat???? Are you outta your mind?? LOL just kidding. I am a meat lover and so is my DH there is no way ever that we would become vegetarian or vegan. But who am I to tell anyone how to eat :giggle4:. Enjoy your pedi today, I know that I will enjoy mine!

Ok off to get some brunch and then get ready to go for my pampering. Have a great day everyone! :waving3:

I have those feelings about every week when Mark is off on Friday.....it's supposed to be Saturday! You'd think after 3 years or more of him being off on Friday that I would be used to it!
I hope the audiologist can fix your dad's hearing issues! It is irritating when you have to keep repeating yourself to someone who can't hear! I'm sure it is frustrating for them, too!

Same here with the weather.

Glad you finally found your glasses, Cheryl! I just made eye appointments for Mark and I. We didn't need prescription changes last year, but I sure do this year, I'm sure! I can tell a big difference in my distance!

I'm glad your SIL is not going to try to travel abroad alone but in a touring group! I just about don't want to travel anywhere alone here, let alone doing it out of the country!

And we are with you, especially Mark! He is a meat eater for sure! I don't eat as much as him, or probably even you, but I have to have some meat.....mostly chicken. I could not be vegetarian or vegan! But, to each their own, I'm good with that! ;)

Another quick in and out today. We were very relieved when DSon#1 and wife arrived where DD#2 lives near Branson, MO late yesterday afternoon. They drove from Nevada and battled through heavy rains/winds especially through Oklahoma and into MO. And DSon#2 and wife flew into Springfield, MO yesterday... their flight was delayed due to the storms and tornados in the area. We breathed a sigh of relief when they let us know they were there safe and sound. Max's funeral was this morning. Unfortunately both of the boys and wives have to leave late today or early tomorrow. I am hoping that DSon#1 and wife will stop here for a quick visit on the way back to Nevada.

I can't believe it but the forecast is for rain tonight and it may turn into snow... especially in the mountains to the east and the west of us. Haven't had any since Last November!!! Pray that They don't have to drive through bad weather on their way home. DD#3 came down to visit with us yesterday morning. DD#1 is out doing some errands in my car so I am taking the time to post a couple of LOs. DD#1 and talked until midnight last night so I may take a nap this afternoon.

Good afternoon,
Had a great time with Ilene yesterday, of course! We were going to get together about 10:30 but she ended up having a phone call meeting with her neuropathy doctor at 10:45. In the mean time, I had ordered groceries Wednesday night to be picked up between 3-4 after my day with Ilene. But they had my order together by 10:15, so I picked it up and put it away before heading over to Ilene's. She was ready to go by the time I got there.

We went to lunch first at a place down the street from Save-a-Buck. Since I didn't buy anything that needed to be refrigerated, we took the groceries back to Ilene's. After she put them away we played several games of Qwirkle before I left for home around 4. I didn't have to worry about supper because we had already made plans to go to Ruby Tuesday for the garden bar since I had a Buy One Get One for $3 coupon. Ilene was going to go with us, but as we were walking out the door of her house, her SIL pulled in. He was there to mow her grass. She still could have gone with us but Robert brought his sleeping grandson along so Ilene stayed there to watch him while Robert mowed.

Mark and I did our daily devotions before we left for Ruby Tuesday. After we went to Ruby Tuesday we went to Tractor Supply and Lowe's Home Improvement looking for chimney pipe so Mark can work on the stoves at our pits.

I got my order from Wild Birds Unlimited yesterday while I was with Ilene. Besides the usual spicy seeds and suet I ordered I got some meal worms for the bluebirds and powdered nectar that you add water to for the hummers. I've not had any luck with meal worms before at the bird feeders, so I hung them out by the bluebird "house" they are occupying to see what happens.

Got up early for a dentist appointment today for both Mark and myself at 9:15. We were there about an hour. They do the both of us at the same time.....cleaning and then the doctor checks your mouth. Mark may need to have a root canal in the near future. No bad news for me.

After the dentist we went next door for breakfast. After breakfast Mark had to stop by the shop to check on some parts that were being de-burred in a tumbler. While he was doing that I called and made eye appointments for the both of us the last part of May. Our doctor retired last year, so we will be going to the doctor he shared the practice with. But we will be new patient status, so it will take about an hour for him to do all of the testing, etc. I don't know why that info can't just be transferred over.....whatever! We will actually have to see 2 different doctors since we want to do the exams at the same time. My doctor will be the one who can handle glaucoma and cataract patients. Mark will have the other guy. The receptionist said we would be pleased with both doctors! I hope so! The guy I will see did Ilene's and Carolyn's cataract surgeries and they were very happy with the results. So I'm glad for that!

After we got home Mark did the mowing. He came in after that to cool off, so we did our daily devotions before he goes back out to spray the yard for weeds. But first he is taking a siesta, LOL!

Another freezer meal is thawing for tonight's supper.....honey-jalapeño pork chops and apples. I'll fix some rice to go along with it. I'm worried about the heat for myself as I'm not crazy about jalapeño!

We just back from going to the church to meet with the termite inspector. That took about 1 1/2 hours for him to check the 3 buildings on the property and go into the crawl spaces. Then we stopped at Mark's shop to take the items out of the tumbler. Now Mark is outside working on something with the fireplace pipes we got yesterday. He wants to wait until it cools down some before spraying the yard. It is 86 degrees at 4:00! Too hot for me for this early in the year! Next week we are supposed to have temps in the 30's again!

I ordered some things from Anna's shop to try and get caught up on my Monthly Review pages from last year through this year. So I guess I'll work on that some before I start cooking the pork chops in the oven. My heating element in the regular oven burned out so I'm having to use the toaster oven until the new element arrives!

Have a great weekend!

Hope you get to enjoy some quality time with your family while they are in, even though it is a sad occasion. Thinking about you and your family and praying for comfort! :heartpumplove::hug4::praying2:

The pups are doing well. Onyx was groomed the other day and now looks bald compared to the other two. The picture is not the best view of his cut but you can see what I mean.

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe if you're in the path of this nasty, nasty weather.
Onyx looks like he could use a sweater, I bet he's enjoying the fireplace.
Scrapped a challenge and got a Fingerpointing GSO for it ♥
:smiliesdoingwave2: :yourock::woohoo:
D is so stubborn but I think his tiredness and flushed face is another Crohn's fistula starting up and it always requires a hospital stay to take care of it.
Here I thought I had the only stubborn one, but when it comes to the doctor, mine can be worse than a toddler. When he was building houses, if he cut himself or shot a nail through a finger, no doctor, you just let it bleed out for a bit and then it will be fine. He didn't have any vaccinations as a kid, but a gave him a "chat" about tetanus and vaccinations came right after the honeymoon.
Today is a do nothing day
Seriously Twin we need to have a retirement chat, you should be having more do nothing days, and fewer work your crazy butt off days. Rest for 3 weeks after surgery? This I gotta see darlin;
More craziness here...I finished my bromelaid garden
I LOVE bromeliads. From the looks of it, my hen & chicks on the topiaries, took a hard hit again this winter, I just replace with a lot of the spares that grow a WHOLE lotta places in the garden that I didn't plant them. I had a whole lot of fun ones, but Minnesota winters are hard on them.
Oh I just remembered I am going for a pedicure with SIL Linda at 1:00 pm tomorrow. Sheesh always something, but it will be nice to be pampered a bit.
That will be wonderful for BOTH of you, pedicures are sooooooo relaxing, between the massage chair and the foot and leg massage it's nirvana.

@BrightEyes So glad to hear you will have family around you. You can all be a comfort to each other and I'm glad Leslie has support as well. Warm hugs, prayers, and love continuing to come your way for all of you.

Nothing exciting around here today, it was 26 degrees when I got up and went to the gym this morning. Did 45 minutes with strength training and an hour on the elliptical, stopped at the grocery store to pick up Wendell's prescription, some more oj, carrots and celery, and some bananas. Doc gave me the lecture about replacing electrolytes after workouts, because of my latest bloodwork. I look at those electrolyte drinks and they all have some sort of artificial sweetener, but I won't use them. I don't know what they do to stevia or some of the other 'natural' sweeteners, but i looked at Wendell's oj with the added calcium and vitamin D, it's high in potassium too, and said, "Self, you are an idiot, and I've been drinking a glass of orange juice every morning. I had to laugh at his idea of a 'serving' after I measured out a serving for myself. Oh well, could be worse things. I mean, seriously, I married someone who doesn't drink coffee for crying out loud, so have your glass of oj, your almonds, and Cheerios for breakfast, I'm not going to complain. I shouldn't grouse, I had my same serving of oatmea and I weight a portion of almonds or my portion would be bigger than his. Trying to get some weight off so I can get back into all of the fun clothes in the closet that don't fit, I want to shop in my own closet. I got caught up on some posting to other site and commenting today, ideas for a couple of challenges, just have to decide what pictures I want to use. I have a zillion that haven't been scrapped. I takes awhile to scrap 100's of sunsets when there are at least 50 of each one. Nothing else new around here, except huddling in front of the fireplace again. Wendell is trying to figure out if he can 'remake' our windchime that broke last year. I think he's going a little stir crazy waiting for spring. He needs a hobby that works inside, the giant windchime, will keep him busy for a bit, it's close to 20 years old, but he doesn't want to spend money on another one; however, we did order 4 cases of wine yesterday so at least he has his priorities straight. One of the wine clubs we belong to (yes we belong to more than one) has a 50% off sale for members a couple times a year so it's a good time to stock up on our faves.

Kay, I thought of you today and am glad you checked in. Hoping that all of you are safe from weather difficulties. Wish that everyone could be together a little bit longer, though. Hang in there.

Howdy. Thanks for the good "glasses vibes", everybody. I MUST tell you where I found them. You all know that I've torn my house apart looking for them. I found them down inside one of my black boots. Yes, I really did. HOW on earth they got there is one of life's biggest mysteries.

This is the funniest thing ever!!!!! How they got in your boot is a mystery for sure.

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a good day. Friday's are half days, so spent the afternoon getting the girls squished and smashed - thankfully it went fast and I was in and out in shorter time than it took to drive to the appt. Then I went to Goodwill and picked up some short sleeved tops for summer and working in the office. Tomorrow Belle and I are playing ladies pickleball at a friends house. She has a gigantic driveway so she painted a pickleball court onto it. Then we'll have lunch together after that. Looking forward to it - hopefully my shoulder won't object. At least we're mostly beginners, and there's 6 or 7 people with one court. So there will be plenty of visiting time which will make my shoulder happy.
The parakeet is still hanging around - it's been at least two weeks now, maybe more. When I see him I put his seed out on top of the wild bird seed. He's been coming every morning and evening. Super cute.

As usual I'm sitting down to scrap and it's after 9, so will probably leave some love and check on my challenge thread and plan on scrapping tomorrow after pickleball. Housework can wait.

Hope you all have a nice rest of your evening!

Glad you finally found your glasses, Cheryl! I just made eye appointments for Mark and I. We didn't need prescription changes last year, but I sure do this year, I'm sure! I can tell a big difference in my distance!
Me too. Did you read my last post about where I found them???? My prescription hadn't changed since last time, either. Our eyes sure do change and fast, though.

Hi Cheryl so nice to see you here in the Daily O's !! Sounds like you have had some crazy weather like the rest of us. How nice to be getting the new glasses, it will certainly help with that crink in your neck!

Thanks so much, Trudy. I love to pop in every chance I get. I was up early and thought I'd just say hey to everybody. Yes, I'm SO happy that I found my glasses. I'm tired of cricking my neck in those darned bifocals, but at least I had them.

HAGD
Well, of course, it's World Rat Day. How hilarious. Hey, everything else gets a "day". Why not rats???
