Happy Friday to all!!
What a week! (what a month...)
I am trying to cut down on my news consumption after listening to Jean. But even if you cut the news down by 90%, it is still a HUGE amount to process. But there is good, if cautious, news coming out of North and South Korea. My optimistic heart is winning the day on that one. Yeah, my cynical brain is poking through at times but I will take what I can get.

I ended up neither taking a nap nor working in the yard. It was sunny but so windy that it was cold to me. I "wasted" about an hour of my day (not really wasting, but I was procrastinating and well aware of it) by working on a puzzle with Caitlyn. She had started it the night before and had all of the edges done. She finished it last night with some help with Scott too. I forgot how puzzles can be relaxing and irritating at the same time.
It took us over an hour to get the four banks accounts closed and then Caitlyn had to open a new savings account at the other bank. But at least that is done and one more thing crossed off of the To Do list.

My mom is coming here today and we are going to do some shopping. I need to get a couple of things at the warehouse and I have to look for birthday gifts. I hope that my headache gets better because it makes me short-tempered when I can't concentrate. My mom has a tendency to ramble a bit and have about 20 different topics compressed into one conversation which is hard to follow on a good day.:eek2:
Wish me luck on that!

Enjoy your day, O-zies!

Trudy- Go Bruins!!!! Must have been exciting! The hike sounds like it was very pretty too. Did you work on the wreath yet? I know that you can make the old one better than buying one of the new expensive ones.
I hope that you enjoyed the sun-- we are having cool rain the next few days but should be near 80* next week. I cannot wait for that!!
I watched a tutorial video of Anna's yesterday thinking that maybe it would spark something. Unfortunately, it didn't but I came away thinking that "I never would have thought to..." so maybe it will stay in my brain the next time that I scrap.
That is so cute to hear how much Mason is enjoying basketball- even in the rain!

Nancy- Hope that you were able to get a good nap so you had lots of energy to enjoy the hockey games last night.
That is so nice that you and your sister and the families are all doing well.
I hate tacos. So much prep work. But everyone enjoys them-- turkey tacos for us and tofu tacos for Cait - so that makes it worth it (sort of).

Rae- Taz likes goats milk? I would never have thought about that-- is it good for his allergies? Hope that the radio helps reduce some of the frustrations for B. It must be so hard to not snap back at her when she gets abusive. WhenG gets in those moods- even while on a much smaller scale- I know that I need to let it go, but damn it is hard. Does the hospital offer counseling or support services to you and Jen as caregivers? If they do, it might be helpful on a lot of levels. (Forgive me if I am butting in.)
One more reason that I wish I lived closer-- I would love to come and help with your gardens so when you came home, the yard would look pretty and peaceful for you.
I saw the photo of the hummingbird! Just wow!!!!

Jean- we got our ballots in the mail yesterday too. I have to look over and see who is who but Primary voting is usually pretty easy. We had our governor's race last year so that was the big one.
Did you have a fun meeting and dinner? I cannot imagine eating at a place with 8 different screens/games going LOL

Felis- I just looked at the author on GoodReads and it was all in Italian. :( Always great to find an author that you enjoy. We watched a show last night about the Harry Potter exhibit at the British Library- Harry Potter/Magic/Library/History all rolled into one. *sighs happily* Wish I could see it in person. I think I might re-read the HP series (again!) but gosh, I love it!!!
Floyd does well getting pilled when we use the Pill Pockets and did fine with the fluids yesterday. He doesn't like it but he stayed put. I am giving him the Pepcid the days that he doesn't get fluids so he isn't getting manhandled twice in the same day. Poor kitty. :(
I wish for the days when everyone would eat everything too. Hmmm. That actually never happened. It is just harder now. LOL

good morning - I did not get up until 8 but I went to bed at 1am so that was a good sleep. The hockey was crazy - the Washington Capitals just cannot defeat the Penguins. The Caps were up 2-0 in the 3rd and the Pens scored 3 to win 3-2. It was like the Caps said we have the game at 2-0 and quit being forceful. Then the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Sharks 7-0. The Knights just kept coming from the very beginning and it was really impressive. The Sharks allowed the Ducks just 4 goals in 4 games while last night they allowed 4 goals in the first period. Today Luther is off to doggie daycare and I have errands. I made curry chicken with coconut rice and roasted veggies. I had no idea you could cook rice in coconut milk. I thought like milk if you boiled it it would curdle but no it just was great coconut rice. Tonight I am making steak and fries and roasted broccoli.

Chris sorry about your weather. It was not that windy down here. But we are having rain and it is the pits. But I too cant wait for 80s next week. Enjoy the time with your mom.

Trudy glad the hike was so good. Hope you had fun adding to your wreath and be it is lovely on your door. Go Bruins tomorrow. Are you also cheering for the Jets since they are the last Canadian team?

Rae I saw the photo of the hummingbird. Oh to see a baby must be so cute. I hope you get the photo! How fun that you found the transistor type radio. It will be good for her to have something of her own. Thanks for checking in and keeping us updated! And glad you are taking care of yourself.

Felis I hate cooking which is why I use Blue Apron to send me food and new recipes. My DH is a great cook and knows how to mix flavors. Me I need a recipe. My DH also likes to bake which is pretty cool. His only problem is he is a slob!

Jean good for you for checking out the ballot. My sons don't want to but I try to get them involved. I always tell them if you don't vote you cant complain.

Have a great day all!

Morning O-zies! It is so far another sunny warm morning, but I think that the weather is supposed to change later on today. I am feeling the start of a sinus cold coming on, a bit of a sore throat and my one nostril is very stuffed up :mmph: I don't need a cold right now! Yesterday I got my wreath all fixed up and it looks so much better! Glad that I opted to not buy a new one! I started my hiking page, but it is a very slow process, hope to have it done this morning. Already had a facetime with Heather and the boys, Mason was so proud to show me his soccer jersey he is #9 and his best bud's is #10 they play TimBits Soccer all sponsored by Tim Hortons. He is excited to play this year, not like last year when it was such a chore to get him to do anything. I talked to him for a few minutes and then he was off to go outside and play basketball with a few kids that were already over at their place to play. So nice, but hard for Heather to keep an eye on him with Hunter needing her. One of the boys across the street is older so he keeps an eye on his younger brother and Mason so that is good!

Chris - Probably a good thing that you are cutting down on the news! I find it just stresses me out and really there isn't anything I can do to change what has already happened so why watch or listen. My DH is bad and has the news on as soon as he wakes up and on the weekends I have to go around shutting off the TV's as he turns them all on and then goes outside to putter around and leaves them all on :gaah: it drives me crazy! We will be having rain again this weekend too. I hope that the sunshine and nice warm temps make you smile and get out a bit more! I will have to watch that Anna Video, I am a bit stuck with my page and could use some fresh ideas!

Nancy - DH and I started watching the Golden Knights hockey game but switched it to something else after the 5th goal LOL. Yes I think that we will be cheering on the Jets as they will be the only Canadian Team left standing, hoping of course for a win for the Bruins tomorrow, it should be a good game! Wow your meals always sound so amazing, such wonderful combinations that I would never think of putting together :hungry: Enjoy your day alone today, I bet that Luther is in doggie heaven being with all his doggie day care friends

My DD is the same as your sons and does not want to participate in voting of any kind. I don't understand it! I say the same thing to her, if you don't vote then don't ever complain about the way things are run by the gov't! I don't know where we went wrong?? :becky:

Jean - Good for you for already getting your ballots filled out and ready to go! Glad to hear that the sun has come out for you finally! Its fun sometimes to go to the sports bar/restaurants and see all of the games at once. That is why my DH took me for lunch last Saturday, he had an ulterior motive as there were two games of hockey that he was missing while we were out shopping etc. LOL.

Rae - What a great idea to give B that old radio! I hope that she enjoys it! I agree with Felis that your garden is the least of your worries right now. Perhaps one afternoon you will have some time to spend there and get some dirt therapy, but I am sure you would rather sit and enjoy the hummingbirds at your feeder! Such sweet little things, have you seen any of the Rufus hummers yet? I just love the colour of them, sad that they only seem to pass through for a bit then they are gone again. Your photo was amazing! Thanks for sharing it with all of us! You are such an amazing grandmother to be doing all that baking etc. for B! It must be heartbreaking to see how she has changed so much! I pray every day for her that she will get out of there and get the therapy she needs! Hopefully one day down the road you will see your granddaughter has come back to you!

Felis - Wow that author sounds amazing! Is it translated into English do you know? Some authors are just so wonderful for describing emotions! It is so nice that you have been immersing yourself in reading! Awww thanks for the nice compliments about my page of Sadie and her baby Minnie Mouse! She always describes it to me as being so Adorable, she takes it with her everywhere she goes! Its so cute! I wish I could see the world through her eyes, she is such a free spirit and so full of love! I think that it might be time to take a trip up Island to see them all again very soon!

Ok I need to find something to take for this oncoming cold and nip it in the bud! Perhaps its just the pollen?? I hope to get out later on today for a long walk and perhaps drive to Winners to see what they have new in the store. I need some new shorts as all of mine are too big on me now. Looking for some nice little sun dresses too to take to Paris in July, I find that dresses are so much cooler than wearing shorts. Have a fabulous friday everyone!

Good morning, ladies. I missed getting photos of 3 hummingbird babies that came to the feeder early this morning (around 7:00). I'll try again tomorrow morning. I'm not seeing them throughout the day, only early morning but I'll keep my eye out. I imagine they grow fairly quickly so the window of opportunity is probably very short-lived for getting a photo of them.

We watched videos yesterday at the hospital with B and had a good time. She didn't want us to go and made me promise for sure that I will be back Sat and Sun (I'll take today off from visiting to do chores/shopping and take Taz to the vet).

Chris - the goat's milk kefir is full of probiotics which are good for Taz and less likely to set off a food intolerance (like cows milk can, just as it does in me). He's never eaten pumpkin (hates it) before but this morning I mixed some in with the kefir and he ate it all. I hope this continues as it may help his anal gland impaction problem. Hope you have a good time with your mom and your headache dissipates.

Trudy - you're so crafty, I'm not surprised that you are able to spruce up your wreath and not have to buy a new (overpriced) one. I am prone to nose polyps/hay fever/sinusitis and have suffered for years without much success in treating it. I have gotten numerous sprays and courses of antibiotics but this past year I have been able to reduce the inflammation and not need antibiotics or sprays. I've been able to clear up the infection within about 4-5 days by topically rubbing on an essential oil concoction that I came across last year, 2-3 times a day, just a small amount, about 1/16 tsp each time. I swear by it! I make a batch up and store it in the bathroom cabinet, putting it on as soon as I feel soreness/stuffiness or my nose starts getting red which is a sure sign its starting up. Let me know if you want my recipe to try. I've pinned it but it might be hard to find if you look thru my essential oil board. BTW, nope, have not ever seen a rufous hummer, they are so pretty.

Nancy - isn't coconut milk great? I use it a lot in my cooking. Coconut cream, stewed tomato, tumeric, ginger, garlic and seasoned salt is so good with chicken...try it. I don't have a recipe but taste as I put it together, adding a few splashes of coc cream at a time til it tastes right, probably about 1/2 cup, add everything in once chicken is cooked and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. I serve it over riced cauliflower.

Felis, Jean and everyone else....hope all is well.

I'm getting to work now, so better go. Have a great day everyone.

DH did his bird survey this morning and is napping now. It was nice but still not some of the birds normally here by now. I have that Anna video ready to play, so hope it will inspire all of us. I'm always a little wary of the videos and such as they're all for PS or PSE neither of which I have, but blending should work for me.

Felis, that author sounds very interesting. I find there are English translations of some of her books, but not easy to find. Hope your sister is back next week to do her thing with cooking.

Chris, I am surprised you are actually cutting back on news feeds. I did one little thing to cut back and find it healthier for me. Hope the headache stays mild and you have a good time with your mom. Puzzles can be frustrating, but I really like doing them. I use them partly as a reason to get up from the computer for a short time.

Nancy, I'm surprised you and Trudy have kids not interested in voting. Not good news for the countries. I'm sure you've tried every angle to convince him. On the cooking front, we all think Blue Apron does so well as we drool over your meal descriptions. I guess I was surprised to see the Caps lose game 1, but then they lost the first two to the Jackets, so maybe they'll get it together.

Oh, Trudy, I hope that isn't a real cold coming on! What a bummer that would be with finally nice weather. Maybe shopping will be an antidote. The very idea of shorts and summer dresses should send it away. Bet your updated wreath is better than the pricey ones anyway.

Rae, today should help build you up to deal with the weekend and of course get work done. Good luck photographing the little hummers!

Trudy - just had to pop in and say I have been getting the rufous hummingbirds. I thought they were the orange ones but they are also the green ones so yes....we have been getting lots of them.
