TGIF?? Why does it feel like all I do is revel in Fridays?

Yesterday was a *much* calmer day. I had absolutely no responsibility, or whatever I should have had, I ignored. I didn't make it to the library becasue I figured I wasn't going to shower until the end of the day, since I was going to be playing in the dirt.

I worked on painting the pine cones into zinnias in the morning. I have a bunch of the pinks ones done. They don't look anywhere close to as nice as on Pinterest, but that shouldn't surprise anyone, haha! After lunch I went outside, and cleared out leaves from the little garden in front of the driveway. My poor Black eyed Susans were buried. Cleaned up some of the twigs so Scott could mow the lawn. When Caitlyn got home from school, we took the dogs to the dog park. Jaida had a great time as always. Ray was happy trotting after her for a little while but then dug a cool hole in the dirt to lay in, and Jaida played with the other dogs.

i was very happy to break 10,000 steps too. Been a long time since I did that. Hopefully i will be able to get back onto the swing of that with the weather getting nicer.

My mom is coming up today and we are going to go and relax for lunch somewhere. I feel like I have seen her often over the last couple of weeks but it has all been stressful.

Hope that you all have a stress free day (whatever that heck *that* is!!! )

Today is one of my favorites since I am a hippie at heart :hippie:
Today is Earth Day! Every year on April 22, more than 1 billion people in 175 countries participate in Earth Day events. It is the largest civic observance in the world, and its purpose is to raise awareness about important environmental issues. To spread the word about this special occasion, send an eco-friendly free Earth Day eCard to friends and family!
The first Earth Day took place in 1970. After witnessing the effects of an oil spill in Santa Barbara, California, U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson organized a grassroots “environmental teach-in” on college campuses across the country. Many people believe that this first Earth Day celebration marked the beginning of the modern environmental movement.
To celebrate Earth Day, plant a tree, help clean up a beach or park, or participate in a local event near you. Happy Earth Day!

Go hug a tree!!!

Hi Cindy! So nice to see you pop in! Come and join us every day, we have a lot of fun and I can't imagine starting out my day without chatting with my O-Zies!
Thank you for the nice words about how I keep going, I surprise myself sometimes that i haven't totally lost it. I think I have come close to 99% losing it on many occasions. :boom:
Thank you for telling me about your FIL. I know he is going to be fine, it just stinks for him.

Oh- you all will get a kick out of this:
Scott told Leah last night (for the newer people, Scott is my almost 20 yo son, Leah is his longtime GF of almost 4 years! wow!!) about Grandpa. Leah's father passed away when she was 14 of colon cancer so of course she was immediately worried. Scott then told her that Grandma, who worries over *everything* was doing ok with it. Leah then said, Cool. No worries then. If Grandma is not stressing, then no need for anyone to stress hahahah!!!!!

Cars- oh YUCK!!! I am so done with cars troubles too. We have had several Saturn, and I was always so please with their service. I was really bummed when they went out of business. Now I have to bring mine to local places who can't seem to get anything right. cait's car was in the local shop three times for the same thing and each time it only got worse. Finally found another shop that was able to fix it on the first try.
Hope that they get it right this time.Argh!

Nancy-bet you had a beautiful day yesterday too- it was fantastic up here! How does Luther do outside in the heat with his fur?
I am so jealous of you! 2 weeks in AZ! Hope you get to see al l of the birds on your list!
i will have to look up Elizabeth George, thanks for the suggestion :)

Trace- thank you too for the reassuring words about your FIL. It means a lot. Happy belated b-day to your hubby!
My dad has Meniere's disease and severe vertigo too and has ended up in the hospital on several occasions from it. i cannot imagine having to go through that all of the time.
Crazy that you and Trudy just got Dx's with similar issues at the same time.

Eeep! I better get posting this, so I can get Cait to the bus stop on time.

Be back soon!

xo

Back from the bus stop- and have to get in the shower soon, but here for some quickies!

Trace- one of the things that triggers my dad's vertigo is high salt foods. He splurges and has a hot dog, and is in sad shape soon after. Could that be a possibility?

Trudy- oh what *lovely* photos!!!!! How high up of an elevation is that? A cold beer afterward-- sounds like heaven! This time of year, I get cravings for cold beer after working outside. I should think about picking up a six pack just to keep on the fridge for those occasions.
Thank you too for the support re: my dad. BTW- he is a Volunteer Firefighter. He was a computer programmer from back in the day when they used punch cards LOL
But there he is- 77 yo and still drives the trucks to the fires and helps train the new kids. If only I had his energy and stamina! ha!!!!
I hope that you don't have drought conditions again, that will stink, esp after all of your hard work in the yard again. :( I bet you are counting the days until you bring Heather and Mason back to the Island.

Rae- hope that your client didn't dump too much work on you yesterday. That is kinda crazy one the one hand about the woman, but OTOH, it is so sad, she really must have needed someone to talk to. That is how I feel when I start typing here. :p
Great advice to get an aggressive dog trained. If not, it is a good possibility it will end badly. Jaida is very well behaved aside form a lot of barking at people on the street but she is strong and willful when she wants to be so training was a necessity.
Just the thought of McD's makes me feel sick!

Hugs and love to all!

Morning! On my way out to get a new dress today for our black tie event. Just popping in to say hello!

chris, thanks for the support. :) I don't have Meniere's because I have not lost any hearing in the right ear. The vertigo is usually good. They think it's vestibular neuritis which is inflammation of the vestibular nerve that connects your ear to your brain. It's curable if you can get the vertigo gone.

We did get the car back yesterday. Guess what car had to go back again today? That's right my Cruze. Ugh!! At least they keep giving us a loaner car.

Chris, I am glad yesterday was calmer. I think Pinterest is some cruel tool of punishment that we eagerly partake in. If it's not stealing our time, it's reminding us of how creative we wish we were. lol

Trudy, your pictures from yesterday were gorgeous. I'm kind of hoping to go back to Victoria next year. We loved our honeymoon there.

Nancy, do those Elizabeth George books have a lot of profanity? I am always looking for good books w/o that and they are harder and harder to come by these days.

Trace, hope you had a relaxing day. My nephew who is 16 (I can't believe he is 16) has been suffering from vertigo for months and htey can't figure out why. Best of luck in conquering yours.

Rae, what kind of dog do you have? I am a huge dog nut.

Good morning - late in posting as I have had many errands to accomplish before heading to AZ. Also trying to finish up the wedding photos. My boys just don't seem to realize how long it takes to do a page and how long it take to clean up the house or cook. They just think I am home all day doing nothing. Makes me mad! I am doing my laundry and that is good and watching hockey from last night. Kat sorry the Redwings lost and sorry that Pavel D. is going back to Russia. He will be a big loss!

Chris yes the weather has been perfect and my dogwood tree looks awesome and my lilac bush is almost out. I am totally happy. Luther is liking his back yard and we are having fun playing fetch.

Trudy your photos were awesome! what a view! sounds like a great way to end the hike with your cold beer. You will be in great shape for when the grandkids come.

Cindy I don't remember much in the way of foul language in the George novels. Cant believe your car is back in. I would ask about a lemon law or I would go to the manager and ask for a more experienced mechanic to do the work. glad you get a loaner.

Trace how was the birthday dinner? So sorry about the vertigo. Good luck also in finding that new dress.

Rae hope the work load was not too much! I am sure you had a great time walking your dogs. This morning while Luther and I were out we met Stella. Stella and Luther know each other from when my DH and her owner walk early so it was nice to meet her. She sat and waited until we came across the street to say hi. Pretty funny!

Have a great earth day all!

Morning ladies... Looks like a :rain: day today! I best get my umbrella out and take it with me when I go grocery shopping today. I will just pick up a few things that I need and then DH and I are making the dreaded Costco run tomorrow to stock up the freezer with meat. We really have to try to cut down on purchases at Costco, it really hits the pocketbook hard!!:becky:

Chris - So nice to hear that you had a better day yesterday! I hope you are going to share your pics of your furniture soon!! I am going today to get some paint for the cabinet in my computer room, but I am torn between which colour to go with. :gaah: why is it so hard to make a decision!!! Oh and the hike we were on is actually only 200 metres in elevation, here is a link to show you more about it http://www.northcowichan.ca/files/{12C32CD9-AEEC-4F1E-9FF3-F0DBCAAF8A40}stoney hill.pdf Happy earth day my faery friend I hope its a good day for you today!!

Trace - Have fun shopping for your new dress!! Glad to hear that your ear problem is curable!! Do you have ringing in your ears? The ringing in my ears is driving me crazy and I think I might have to get back to the doctor to talk more about it!

Cindy - Yikes your car needs to go back to the shop AGAIN!! :rollpin: I would be doing some screaming!! How nice that you Honeymooned in Victoria! Its about an hour away from us and I just love that city!! Its so very quaint and very English!! It has grown a lot in recent years and is a very expensive place to try to own property there now! But then I guess everywhere is like that now. Did you stay at the Empress for your honeymoon?

Rae - We most likely are posting at the same time again. Hope that you don't have too much work to do today That was funny about the lady venting to you, that is hard to have to try to get away, but shessh you really don't need to know her life story LOL. Nice of you to listen though!! Hope you and Taz have a great walk today too!!

Alrighty then, I need to get dressed and get out to the grocery store :mmph: I actually got to scrap two pages for the challenges!!! I hope to do another today too, so nice to be scrapping again!! Have a great day ladies!! Enjoy your friday and what ever it will bring!!

Hi Nancy... well thats weird its not usually you and I cross posting! That's twice in one week now!! Hope those men in your life smarten up and realize that you don't sit around all day long eating bon bons like Peg Bundy :becky: Hope you get things all ready for your trip!!

There's light at the end of the tunnel!! And, thankfully (phew!!), it is NOT an oncoming train - although the past couple of days have felt like that!!

HI GIRLS!! :peep:

I've missed this place - got a lot of catching up to do, I suspect! Work has totally kicked my butt this week, including some really long days (12+ in the office yesterday, alone). I am bound 'n' determined to get out of here on time today - early even *gasp!* Been reading IRS regulations (oh joy) for some retirement plan things, but on the downhill slide on that now ...

Grey here today and rain coming. I don't mind, no, not at all - my car, which is already green, has pollen green fuzz all over it. Rain is welcomed! A storm, thunder, lightning ... don't care! :)

Okay, off to check out some challenges and the gallery - and other forum posts, too.

Good morning, ladies. Just got back from my GP appt. I do like this new doctor so much more than the other one I tried last fall. She is quick, to the point, but does pay attention and asks questions. It's such a relief to find a doctor I want to stay with. It's so frustrating that there are so few doctors here accepting new patients so I'm thankful to finally have found one. My blood work all came back fine except for the abnormals that were due to my food bacterial bug last week. I didn't feel like anything was wrong with me (ha ha...what a loaded remark to make LOL) but nice to be reassured my health is fine. We had a long walk last night with the dogs. Bailey came with me. We walked around a lake and let them go in for a few minutes to splash around. Took a few iPhone pics of the heron and ducks. Such a pretty park. A fellow fishes on a pier there all the time and the heron sit by him waiting for him to catch fish and throw at them so they can catch and eat it. Fun to watch. Today the workload isn't so crazy, it should be steady all day but not super busy which is good. I want to pop out tonight before dinner and look for a TV for the kitchen. If hubs is up for it, we'll head out to a few neighborhood stores (its nice to live 5-10 minutes from a lot of the stores) and if we don't find what we want we can hit walmart first thing in the morning. I just want a cheap flat screen to replace the ancient boxy tv in the kitchen that has a little 10" screen and terrible picture. I saw online that most stores have something for around $125 so that is worth it. Now that we have the synced pvr's, it is nice to sit in the kitchen to eat and watch the pvr, then clean up and go into the LR to finish watching. So, if it's cheap enough, we'll upgrade to a flat screen that's a bit bigger.

Chris - sounds like a fun time at the dog park. Have a wonderful lunch with your mom and try to relax today.

Trudy - I always have a bit of ringing in my ears but to me that's normal. My vertigo is mild so I only have to be careful when around stairs/ledges, etc as I can get dizzy and lose my footing. Bleachers are awful for me. I have to go really slow and ignore the panic. Falling off bleachers about 6 yrs ago did a lot of damage that took months to recover from and I not only get a bit of vertigo (which caused that fall) but now I have a bit of panic when faced with that kind of climbing. Ugh. I push through it and make myself do it but inside my heart races and I feel disoriented.

Cindy - ugh...more car troubles. That is just crazy.

The week has flown by and hope I get some chores accomplished today and need to get my challenges done this wkend. So a busy but not overly stressful day so that is good. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

LOL, well, I guess things are just a little topsy-turvy today with me and Rae cross-posting, and Trudy and Nancy.

My Friday office to-do list is ta-done! Sure, I have more I COULD do, but at least I'd put on my radar for today is finished. Feels good. I'm making my list of things for this weekend - and the balance is right where it should be: a few chores and errands ... and TONS of scrapbooking!! :p
