Daily Ooos: Friday, April 15

CHEERY O
I was going to write Fabulous Friday, April 15 but decided against it as I realized that it is actually Good Friday and did not want to disrespect a solemn day. For me, it is a fabulous Friday because I am in a great mood. I had an absolutely *wonderful* day yesterday. (Sincerely, I did- that is not sarcasm at all)
The weather was just *perfect.* I was driving home after cleaning and was mulling ideas of what else I wanted to do. Garden? Then I remembered that Scott had the day off and figured I would ask if he wanted to go on a hike. We had talked about doing that once the weather was warm enough for me. He was joking that he had planned that it was going to be a recovery day since it was the first time he worked 4 days in a row in a long time but figured what was one more day of hiking? :D
We went to one of the County Parks he works at and hiked for 5 miles. I was so proud of myself, I didn't fall once! Slipped a few times, stepped in mud/swampy spots more than once but had the best time with him. We talked about everything under the sun. He taught me a lot too- showed me the main bedrocks of the NJ Highlands (Puddingstone and Gneiss), anomalies of young pine trees growing where they typically should not grow, vernal pools, and beavers- lots of info about beavers LOL He was thrilled to be on a hike with someone who is interested in learning about the area. He is used to hiking with people who just like to hike for the sake of hiking or people who already know the information already (school friends/other ecology peeps). He was cute at the end of the hike, he asked me what I liked best- I think I surprised him when I said learning about the skunk cabbage and how it is able to grow by burning sugar which warms the ground around it and can even melt snow. We also talked a lot about the future and LL and how "steady" he feels all considering.
And so you don't think I favoring one kid over the other, *wink* Caitlyn brought her regalia home yesterday and I am going to cry my eyes out when she puts it on. I am going to be a MESS.
I love those two more than anything in the world. Gary and I again said how in the world did they turn out so incredible?

I am not as sore as I thought I would be but I am not sure if I am going to garden or not. Maybe a little bit. I have to soak up the nice weather before it gets chilly next week again.

Do you do anything special on Good Friday? Are you all ready for Easter if you celebrate that? It is also Passover IIRC and partway through Ramadan. Whatever you celebrate- religious or candy-oriented- or nothing at all I hope it is full of all good things! xo

@mom2triplets04 Allergies are brutal, every year they seem to get worse. We are a week or so behind the rest of NJ in blooming so I expect we will be sneezing and itching like mad soon. Happy puppy b-day to Myla! I guess the trainer is helping a lot?

@bcgal00 8-10 boxes a day sound like a lot of unpacking but you are getting there. Hope that the computer gets set up soon. how was Costco? Hopefully, not too busy- I wouldn't want to go on a weekend. :/

@taxed4ever I am so sorry I missed your birthday- so a big belated birthday hug!! xoxoxo
I remember you went to the Farm Table Inn last year too, right? I recognize the photos on the website. Did you get spoiled?? Even if it cracked, I bet the cheesecake was delish!
The sun really makes such a huge difference in mood. I was thinking of you when I was hiking yesterday, how lucky you are to have a great hiking group.

@Cherylndesigns Even though it isn't the job he wants forever, he is thrilled that he is able to do what he loves and get paid for it. He has so many ideas of how he would love to expand into more educational hikes. When he was showing me the pine trees that didn't belong, he went further into an "If the trees could talk" and how to look for anomalies and find clues and it was fascinating. He is like a little kid. Then told me I brainwashed him into being a tree hugger. :D
That is what I keep hearing-- people getting cataract surgery with new lens implants and what a difference it makes. I almost wish I had cataracts. (Almost-- Universe. I said *almost!*) Sounds like you got a great deal on the glasses! I use Zenni online for glasses because my contacts are so darn expensive since I get multi-focals

Hope that you have a fab day, O-zies!!

Did you simply assume that I was talking to you about a "candy-oriented" holiday?? Bwuahahah
(cuz I was :D )

My 2 plans today:

1. Fix something similar to this without having to go to the store:

2. Come up with a valid reason to buy Lynn's new kit

Made a dough of some sort. Just poured some stuff into Marta, and she made something that looks like dough. Will use some to fry up some pan bread and make a loaf of the rest. Then I have a can of borlotti beans and some canned tomato and will make some kind of gooey mess to scoop up with the bread. We'll see if it will become edible. Otherwise we have candy LOL

The sun is shining here, and maybe it will become spring ... FINALLY. The cats seem to think it is ... they are both acting crazy. No one told them they are neutered. LOL

Happy whatever everyone!

Good afternoon all.

Well, I did it again - stayed logged on here ALL night! UGH I don't know how I keep doing that. Oh well.

Chris, Ryan is the same way. He can tell things about the trees that nobody would ever even thing about. It's fascinating to listen to him. He's so in tune with nature. I love hearing all of his facts. He's like a mountain man. That's great that Scott is doing something that he loves even is it isn't his "forever dream job".

I'm so glad I got those implants. The eye doctor we go to have an optional machine that's extra money, but she doesn't have to dilate my eyes - yes please! It takes photographs of the entire eyeball and the pictures are fascinating to look at. She explains what everything is and it's funny because my implants kind of "glow" and look kind of spooky. She always teases me about them. In a certain light, you can see them "glowing". A favorite "activity" by the grandkids used to be - to see if they could see them. (Weird huh?)

Chef Braden cooked for us last night. It was SO good. He loves to cook! He informed me that men were usually better than women, as chefs. AHHHHHH, I said. He fixed steaks and two kinds of fish that they had caught - I had both kinds and they were so good. He also made bacon wrapped asparagus. He also announced that since he cooked, Alyssa was cleaning up the kitchen. Typical chef - "I cook it somebody else cleans up."

Trudy @taxed4ever hope you had a wonderful birthday celebration. How was your prime rib and your cheesecake?

Hope you all have a happy Friday!

XOXO

PS I saw the kitties last night and they've grown a tiny bit. They're still not as active as I think they should be, but it looks hopeful. The Momma cat still doesn't like anybody handling them. She came out and let us hold her, but didn't want us holding her babies.

Wow, another busy morning. I just had to play with Xuxpur's Sun Flowers bundle this morning!! Wow, the colors are so vibrant and beautiful. Had fun making the LO for the Challenge #6 - Tic Tac Toe. I feel like I am way behind on doing the challenges this month so trying to play catch up over the next week.

Big news is that I am taking Chari home this afternoon for her trial run. Pretty sure she is ready for this... she is really missing her family and ready to be back in her own space. She is now using the walker most of the time and is able to put about 70% weight on her foot! She has improved by leaps and bounds the last few days. Turns out I need to drive her home as her DS#1 is snowed under with work. So we had a discussion over what we could pack up and take home on this trip. I am doing the "last" load of her laundry for her. Also been moving things she doesn't need here into the SUV. Just have to leave room for her scooter and the walker in the back. I forgot to fill up with gas so will do a quick side trip to get that done on the way. Since it is about a 60 mile round trip, I don't want to run short on gas. The nice thing is the weather is beautiful... and the winds are less than they have been all week. If all goes well, Chari and her sons will come back tomorrow and load up her office computers, her clothes, and other sundry stuff she has here. That will be several hours of work and maybe a few trips with all our cars to get her moved back home.

The other good news is my Son and his wife will be here for a few days next weekend. Yes, she finally got her visa to come from PI to the states. Looking to forward to finally meeting her in person! I have seen and talked to her via internet several times but it will be so nice to put my arms around her and welcome her to the family in person. Chari will come down for a visit with them... if she is still at her house.

No personals as I need to fold her laundry and finish sorting several things.

Good afternoon ladies! I am so ready for this weekend! I feel like I have worked about 60 hours this week...in reality it was 43. But I am tired. However, now that work is over, I feel energized. And that is a very good thing because my paper chain is getting very, very short. Thanks all for the comments on Shaun. He has a post op in 10 days and I am going to INSIST on an antibiotic to take with us, just in case.

@faerywings this "I love those two more than anything in the world. Gary and I again said how in the world did they turn out so incredible?" nearly made me cry. Granted, I may be a bit weepy anyway...but I completely know what you mean! Glad that you had such a great day.

@BrightEyes I love that you and Chari have had such a sweet time together. And glad that she is ready to head back home...what a great mom you have been to her.

@Cherylndesigns laughed at the "men were usually better cooks than women" comment. How neat that he loves to cook! And I have known people who got the implants when they had their cataracts removed. My vision was corrected in 1999 and it is only now starting to slip a little. Still no distance correction required to drive. One of the best decisions of my life.

@tanteva I love that you are maybe getting a peek at spring! And your recipe sounds delicious.

@taxed4ever I hope that your birthday was great!!!

Linda @LSlycord this is so cool and you should definitely scrap it!

I'm with you on the lens correction - one of the best decisions I've ever made! My eyes are JUST now slipping a little but that's to be expected and like I said, it's my close-up vision.

Isn't that funny about Braden? I took some cute pictures of him but haven't resized them yet to post here but my DD posted them on her FB page this am. I think I'll post them on there - they're SO cute! Check my FB post in a while.

Yes, definitely Shaun needs antibiotics!! Sending him lots of healing vibes. :)
