Hooo boy, what a week. The stuff that got crammed into this one week has been kind of intense. (I am 100% ignoring the fact that technically, I still have to get through today)
Yesterday starts off pretty normally. Some small glitches here and there, same as everyone deal with. I called my mom mid-afternoon to see what time she wanted me to come down today. She is all out of breath and says she can't talk. Then tells me that my dad fell again, hit his head and the next-door neighbor was trying to convince him that he really should go to ED to get checked out. Annnnnd, guess what he was doing when he tipped over?
Yard. Work. Dammit, Dad! We had this discussion on Sunday. I was going to come down on Friday to help them out. Told him I would work all day for a bottle of my favorite wine. But no. Silly man had to do it himself in 85* weather. And my mom is no better, she was on their deck washing off the table and chairs. WTH?? Thank goodness his skull is so thick. (He fell off the back of a fire truck a few years back, thought he was fine- nope, he had to have staples all along the back of his head) SMH!!!
To cap off my day, Caitlyn and I were waiting at the vet when my brother calls me. He is saying something about how my SIL thinks he needs to go to the hospital to visit. I keep telling him not to go. My dad was already irritated that he was there ( He was grumbling about how stupid he looked with a bandaid on his head when my mom called me with an update). The last thing my dad would want was a "visitor." I joked with Cait that it's kinda terrifying that *I* am the calm and stable one in the family. Her reply: Not true Mama, some of them are dead.
At any rate, my mom called while we were still out, and he is fine. He was dehydrated and had low blood sugar. And they told him to stay inside when it is hot. Will he listen? I am not gonna take that bet.
Not great news about Squirrel either. The vet really didn't think it is an abscess but gave her an abx injection anyway. The lump- whether malignant or benign- is inoperable because of its location, too close to the urethra and colon. Cait had a feeling that was what he would say but it's still tough to hear it. Rats are really one of the best pets ever, other than their very short lifespan
The wildfire in town is still going strong, only 30% contained this morning. I can't see or smell it where I live but my FB feed is full of comments and pictures from people who can. Someone posted a photo of an engine from my dad's town, but not his company. Does anyone want to bet how much he would want to come up here if his company is called out? That's another bet I am not willing to bet against. Nope. Anyone want to bet how fast I would drive to the fire and drag him back to my house?
Wish me luck today. I am still planning on going down to help my parents a bit. A bunch of stubborn Iantoscas is always a good time to be had. /snark
Oh, gawd. I think my brother said something about him being off for Employee Appreciation Day. If he goes there too, add one more stubborn Iantosca to the mix... (No no no..... please no....) I love my brother, very much, but like I said *I* am the calm one in the family.
me again~>
Have a wonderful day!!!
