Yup, it feels like winter again. 19* and if feels like 12* with the wind. What a disappointment after the last few days but I guess it really is February. My poor feet and hands are freezing.
I am pooped out today. Yesterday, I felt like I needed a nap but not so much that I actually took one. This morning, I can't seem to stop yawning. It is only 8 am, maybe that is why.

Yesterday was a bat-s*** crazy day here. (what else is new). Gary has been fighting with his endocrinologist's office since last November about getting his test strips covered by his ins. co. The strips are specific to the insulin pump he uses since it is a continuous monitoring system. The endo's office only needed to write a letter of medical necessity to the ins co so they would pay. They have been refusing to do this. The last couple of days, Gary had been arguing with the office, the office and doctor hung up on him *twice.*
Gary found a new endo and told the office he needed to pick up his records. They told him they would be ready any time on Friday. He went there to pick them up and of course, they weren't ready. I guess Gary yelled and the office called the police on him. The police came and were 100% on Gary's side. But seriously, what a mess...

Meanwhile, I was cleaning my office and the kitchen and got some rat-playtime in as well. I did a bit more crocheting and am now where I was when I had to rip out everything last week. I tend to crochet "tightly" so when I got to the last row on increasing stitches, I realized that it wasn't going to fit my head. I had to start fresh and I am using a bigger hook. I think it should fit better now. And if it doesn't... :eek:hwell:

Today is going to be a quiet one. Caitlyn, Gary and I are going to start a new puzzle and I think that is pretty much all I need to do. Nope, that isn't true. I still have a lot of catch up work to do here. I am slacking in my CO duties. (shhh.... don't tell Vicki!)

I really need more coffee... it is getting to be quite the pattern, eh?
HAGD!!!

Marjoline- welcome to the Daily Ooos! Nope, it is not allowed. Moms cannot be sick. How old are your kids? What are you watching on Netflix?
I hope that you are feeling better today.

Nancy- Bet you will miss your PT- she sounded very sweet and encouraging. That stinks about the Devil's losing in a SO. I hope that he gets a win in soon.

Trudy- Did you get a lot of snow yesterday? I don't blame you at all about not wanting to drive in the snow especially since it sounds like a lot of your roads are like mine. Hope you didn't overdo it between staining and shoveling.
I was actually pretty successful about not banging my head under the desk. :high5:
Always happy about the little things.

Rae- yuck about the frigid temps but whew, I am happy that the snow passed you by. Poor Taz- he would be disappointed if he knew.

I want to do some baking today as well-- but mine will be full of carbs :sorry:
Thank you for letting me know what I am doing is "right." It doesn't seem to get into her head- she has been a stubborn dog since Day One. The other thing that I am trying to do is reward W when she does the right thing in front of J. --Modeling the behavior I want J to do. That seems to be working *very* slightly but maybe in time, it will get through.
I would love to have Taz come and play.

Kay- good for you for getting another bag of books. I really need to get to my library soon. I was thinking about going todbut...ut you know- cold and wind... maybe not. LOL
What a long and busy and productive day you had. Bet if felt amazing when you finally got your PJs on and in bed with your book!

*** YAWN *** Not sure I am awake yet. Got my coffee but ended up putting too much flavored creamer in it so need to pour some into another cup and add more coffee to my mug. Guess I didn't have my eyes opened enough to see how much creamer I poured. **** Ah... Much better! ***

I did get my new books listed in my book collection binder last evening. I ended up with 36 books in the bag! I know there are a few books that I will read then donate to the Senior Center. Was so glad to put my PJs on and snuggle in bed to read last night. I was exhausted and fell asleep before 9PM.

I really need to get the laundry sorted and started washing today. I also have to shuffle the boxes that stored under the desk to another place so the desk is cleared to be moved. Putting off cleaning until Monday as I am hosting my Red Hat Chapter lunch here on Tuesday. Need to make the brownies for dessert and get the dining room table set up for us.

My heart goes out to all who are dealing with the bitterly cold weather right now. We are having cold with winds so it feels much colder than what the temp says.

Chris, so sorry Gary is having to deal with endro office that is being a PITA! He is better off going to a new doc... hope the new one is more understanding. Geeze... you think that they would understand that if he needs a special type test strips due to his pump they should just send the letter authorizing it. Glad the police understood where Gary was coming from when they didn't have his records ready. He is better off with another endro. Glad you got some rat playing time and finished cleaning without doing a number on your head.

Nancy, glad that you are doing so well. Graduating to going to out--patient for PT is a big step in your recovery.

Trudy, using a primer is a really good step so that the paint will adhere. Wow... that is a beautiful staircase but lots of spindles to paint! Hope the foam brush makes the job easier.

Marjoline, sorry you have been sick. Hope you get over it soon. Always a challenge when it is Mom who is sick. Glad to see you here at the Daily Ooos.

Well, need to get my shower and dressed soon. Not sure when they will be over to get the desk moved. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Morning ladies.... Well it was :smow: all day yesterday and now today we are dealing with very strong winds :mmph: I had to shovel the driveway a couple of times yesterday, so that DH would be able to get the car into the garage. Darn steep driveway, but really the CRV has no problem getting up there. It makes it so much easier when the shovelling has been done though. It also keeps the ice off of the driveway and believe me it's no fun trying to walk down our driveway when its icy!! We ended up getting around 6 inches of snow, so hard to believe that where Rae lives they got none. Lucky them!! But now thousands are without power because of the wild winds. We are getting the house all nice and warmed up just in case the power suddenly goes out. We will still have the nice warm fireplace, but the kitchen will be very chilly if the power goes out on us. Also got a lot more done on the staircase yesterday, so no scrapping for me. :pout: It will be nice to have this job out of the way in the next few days so I can get back to normal life. (whatever that is LOL)

Chris - OMG!! Poor Gary having to deal with such stupid people!! For goodness sake what is the matter with his Endo Dr. and staff??? Good thing he has switched to a new one! Glad that the police could see his side of things!! Shame on his former Dr!!! Sorry to hear that the frigid temps are back in your area!! Perhaps it will not last too much longer? We are going to be in Winter's grip all next week with more snow on the way :mmph: Glad you have gotten some nice cuddle time with the rats and a good way to spend the cold day starting your new puzzle!!

Kay - Too funny about not being wide awake while pouring your creamer in your coffee, I have done that a few times myself! Yes too many darn spindles to paint yet and decided that the sponge brush was no good for the stain, but perhaps will work better on the spindles with paint? :noidea: Good luck today with your :washing: and cleaning out the desk to be moved. I hope that you will be able to stay warm and cozy during this chilly, windy day!

Ok off to get some breakfast going for my DH and then we need to get to the hardware store to get the primer for the spindles and few new paint brushes. I am so happy that DH will be helping me out with the painting, he is thrilled with the way it looks so far. He was very skeptical when I told him what I wanted to do. Silly man, would never change anything if he had his way LOL. Have a great Saturday ladies!!

good morning - well I must have needed to sleep. I was in bed by 10pm and did not get up until 8am. My problem with sleeping is that it is on my back and I like sleeping on my side well my Dr. said I could sleep on my side. Yea! Yesterday was good but sad. Gladys measured my leg straightened and my leg bent and compared to the original measurements I made really good progress. She said I could now go up and down the stairs by myself. Yea! I talked to my SIL who had her knee redone and while some was the same a lot was way different. West Coast vs East Coast LOL. But as long as we are both not in pain and walking that is all that matters. Got up and my son and DH decided to watch a movie so we wanted a comedy and so we watched Night School. It was fun! My son is charging his phone and it cracks me up. Every once it a while I hear a water drop and it was freaking me out as I was looking for something leaking like a steam pipes but it turns out my son set an alarm that makes that noise so he knows to drink his water durning the day while at work. Today my team the Devils play the Wild early. I think today is hockey day in Canada and that is always fun to watch as they show the cities and the people. Fun way to learn about Canada.

Chris that is terrible how the Endo and his office treated your Gary! I feel like you should report them though I am not sure who you report this kind of behavior to. It is terrible to know that there are doctors out there that don't put their patients first. Glad you had some time with the rats. Hope today you can take it easy!

Trudy 6 inches does not sound too bad! That is interesting that your Gary does not like change because my husband does not either. So glad that he is going to help.

Kay 36 books I am totally impressed. Glad that some of the will be recycled to the Seniors that is really nice of you! Have fun with laundry!

Marjoline welcome and hope by now you are feeling so much better now and the kids are not sick.

Rae so sorry that Taz did not get his snow but what he does not know he does not know. Good luck with all the new work you are getting. Obviously all your bosses know how good you are!

Waving to all

Have a great day.

Good morning, ladies. We had the power go out last night so I read for a bit and went to bed early. We turned the fireplace on high and went to bed. I figured if the power didn't come back on later in the middle of the night and it was getting too chilly I would grab blankets and sleep on the couch in front of the fireplace. At some point the power came on so I was able to stay in bed. They have issued a warning though that the power may go out again b/c the freezing temps, ice and high winds are knocking trees onto the power lines. So we'll stay home from visiting B today at the hospital and I will get some desk work done while the power is still on. Tomorrow we'll go spend the afternoon with B instead. If the power stays on, I'll make tacos for D tonight and we'll find a good movie to watch. We're heading to the bank in a few minutes to redo some rrsp stuff. I let D take care of that and I just sign where they tell me to. I know nothing about that kind of stuff.

Chris - enjoy your quiet day. I crochet tight and many times had to redo a pattern b/c it was too small. It's been many yrs since i have crocheted/knitted anything. I'm not surprised about G's troubles....nothing surprises me about the medical system anymore...it frustrates and angers me...but not surprised anymore. I don't think it matters whether you are here in Canada or in the US, there are problems everywhere with our medical system. We are getting ready to go to the media soon for B's care if something isn't done. She no longer has a team that understands her unique set of disabilities and they changed her meds and she is getting triggered and angry more now, again. We're not surprised, only saddened and angry at them. But, every day is a new day and we continue the fight.

Trudy - we got no snow at all but our forecast (which will probably change anyway) is forecasting up to 50 cm of snow over the next 10 days, starting later in the week. Hope we don't get that much but a little bit would be nice for Taz. Be careful in your driveway and be careful shoveling.

Nancy - that's funny about the water dripping app. I would be going crazy too trying to figure out what was dripping LOL.

Kay - bet it felt good to read and get to bed early. Bet your house will smell so good with your baking for your upcoming party.

I'd better get going, have to shower and get to the bank in a few minutes. Have a great day everyone and sure hope our power stays on today.

Hello ladies,
This was my first free afternoon from weeks, but no one of my hobbies tempted me to give this time to it. I preferred to lie in one sun spotlight coming thru my window devoted to some daydreams that I have. Then I made short walk, sun is tricky now looks so pretty but it's not warm yet. Maybe it is from the season, or at least I hope so, because the spring fatigue is something usual for me, but on the time when I'm not busy I'm too tired to care about for whatever.

Chris, I'm always surprised how is possible in your country people to waste time of the police with things like scandals and yellings. Probably is good to have enough officers to come for no sense. Or at less crimes for investigate?! Have a fun time with your family! Hope this time crocheting will happen at the way you wanted it!

Kay, 36 books impressive! But you probably will finish them before the summer, which is really WOW! Are you track your success at Goodreads? I was there for a little but it is filled with 'sprint readers' as you, who ashamed me with mine 12 books for year. But when you have good speed of reading it's fun to competing.

Trudy, so bad that the weather makes you so many troubles! Hope the power to stay stable! The painting that you show us few days early is so gorgeous! Lovely colors for Spring mode!

Nancy, yey for the stairs! I know you should be very careful around Luther, but what about Shadow? It don't looks like fat cat, and I bet he is so happy to see you upstairs again. Haha so fun about a ringtone.

Rae, so bad that your power is not stable! I hope you have one of these power sockets with prevention for appliances, and don't have troubles.

I don't feels much talkative these days, but I'll come back soon. :ranger:

Oh man, it is 8 am and Gary and Cait are still sleeping. Dogs are sleeping. I *wish* I was still sleeping. I am getting aggravated with myself. I feel like time is just slipping away from me. I am a supreme waster of time. I get to the end of the day with nothing to show for it. I wake up and I feel the same. I think I am in a mood. I read a heartbreaking story by a woman who needed to terminate a pregnancy due to a major medical issue with her baby's brain. A similar situation to my BFF except that her baby (my godson, I love you Jake) didn't have functioning kidneys. It will be 22 years on April 30 that she had to terminate. So many things I would have said or done differently had I known more/better. I just sent her an email apologizing and supporting her. This past week in the news and on social media, it has been pretty ugly for people who had to make decisions as she did. Those scars never go away. I guess it dredged up a lot for me too, though nowhere even slightly close to what she is experiencing.
So yeah, I guess that is adding to my mood.

I won't bore you all with details of my day but I have a cute story to share. Yesterday Caitlyn asked me if my parents were coming up with bagels soon. It has been about a month and I guess Cait was missing them and good bagels. I called my mom an hour or so later and she asked if she and my dad could come up today. Good timing! Cait is very happy.

Guess I will go ahead and post this- I am literally staring at the screen with nothing in my head but a bunch of buzzing...

ughhhh, I got so spoiled last week with the above normal temps, my hands are so cold. I also seem to hunch my shoulders a lot when I am cold which aggravates the knot in my shoulder blade. Summer, where are youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu????
Why do dogs need to go outside all of the time? I know, better that they pee on the grass than on my carpet.
Which brings me to my next level of stress. I know nothing is for certain until I speak with the podiatrist and I should stay off of the internet. I know this. But the more I read about this surgery, the more it looks like I will be off of my feet for a while. I am going to have to steam clean my carpets before I have this done. I will need to do it again once I am healed, but it won't wait until only afterward. And am stressing about not being able to clean for a few weeks- that is what helps pay for groceries. No, my family will not let us starve. But still. We have gotten through worse. Heck, 2014 and 2015 were bad with back to back surgeries and IV abx and supplies having to be paid out of pocket. Good times! /s
I am already ahead of that since my ins. plan doesn't have a copay/deductible. I am not on IV which was so damn expensive. And I won't be out of work for a year and a half. Yes, I am waaaaay ahead of the game this time around. C'mon Chris- think positive, you got this!

Kay- boo to too much creamer in your coffee. 36 books, that will keep you busy for what, about a week? :D
Hope that the desk transfer was smooth as silk!

Trudy- I hear you on needing to stay on top of the snow and ice in your driveway. Glad that your Gary made it home and into the garage with no problem. If you ever figure out what a normal life is, let me know :)

The endo was pretty outrageous he said (out loud!!!) that he didn't care about Gary's diabetes or Gary as a patient. Gary submitted a complaint with the state medical board.

Nancy- I am sure being on your own you did more than you would have otherwise. Good that you were able to sleep. Great news about going on the stairs! Take your time though and have a cellphone in your pocket.

Rae- yikes about the power going out like that. Thank goodness you have a fireplace to keep you warm. Did you lose power again?
I am so sorry to hear that you are still struggling so much with B's care. I hope that you are able to get her story out there and that something will get done!!

Felis- I understand all too well about having free time but not inspired to do anything with it. I hope the rest of your weekend is more creative. But even if it is cold, sunshine is nice to see.

xoxoxo to all of you!

good morning - well it sounds like winter is on the way to NJ. We are to have snow both Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday it may turn to rain at the end of the storm so they will not give snow totals. Of course I have to go for evaluation on Tuesday but at least it is close so that is good. My Devils lost to the Wild, not surprised. Now today they play the Carolina Hurricanes. Again to win they will have to be almost perfect. The good thing that is we are getting a lot of good looks at the younger players that the Devils hope will make an impact to be ready for the NHL. I like that. Lots of games today so that too is good. My poor DH yesterday was tired of letting Luther out and back in. Well my DH came into the TV room to bring me a DP and Luther followed. I asked Joey what was wrong with Luther as Luther decided to vomit all over his doggie bed. Of course then he wishes to sample it. LOL dogs! So now my DH knows when Luther wants out he should go out. Well he cleaned it up and then washed the bed which has a removal cover of course. Not sure that Luther is happy his bed smells so good now.

Chris I know I don't think I am prepared either for this winter but I am so glad that we are in February as that mean the snow does not usually last long. Sorry that you don't think you do enough. Chris I know what you mean about women knowing they are carrying children that will not survive when born. My best women's hockey partner carried a baby to term that had no kidneys. She had time to prepare and I am so proud of her and her husband. She wanted to share the details and I was glad to listen. Times have so changed. In the past no one would talk about such things. So good for you for sending the email. Chris glad to see that Gary submitted a report!

Kay so how many books have you read? And did you get any snow?

Trudy how is the banister redo coming? I bet having you MG help you got a lot accomplished. Congrats to the Bruins winning in OT. I really dislike the Kings so this made me happy.

Rae that is the pits when the power goes out! Glad that it was restored before you had to sleep in front the fireplace. All that wind yuck!

Felis I hope you enjoy the sun! In may not be the warmest sun but at least it is sun! I am always glad when I see your posts! My cat Shadow is not a fat cat but she is not a cuddling cat and she runs from me with the cane. I don't think she will trip me but at night I always turn on a light as she is just a shadow at night.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. Quick hello today as I need to get a bit of desk work done and then go up to the hospital for the day with B. Woke up to 18° this morning....brrr...too cold for me. Looks like the frigid temps are supposed to last for another couple of wks. Weird weather for us this month!

I'll try to come back tonight and chat but I need to be productive before we head out. Have a great day, everyone.

Didn't have time to pop in this morning until after church. Started out cold - 29* but is now up to 40* with very little wind. Another front is coming through late tonight/tomorrow - no snow here in town but with the winds picking up again. Got a couple of more storms this week but don't think we will get any snow - maybe some rain. Hope it is clear on Tuesday when the gals are coming over for lunch.

Chris, I have days when I don't think I got anything done, too. Some days I just need to play around or veg. Give yourself permission to kick back occasionally.

Nancy, I have read 2 books from my bag of books... plus another library book. I usually read 4-6 books a week. I don't watch TV so have lots of time to read plus I am a fast reader.

Oh, the pest control guy came over on Sat with his dad and daughter and bought the incline table. He has a friend that might be interested in the Bow-flex. Told him I would hold off advertising it until March 1st. I want it gone by spring time. It is on my list of Spring Cleaning chores do get done. LOL

When I was looking in the freezer this morning for something to thaw out for supper, I ran across 2 plastic bowls filled with Zucchini-Eggplant casserole... so glad as it is warm and filling - just what I need on cool day. Also pulled out enchilada sauce and guacamole to have for Tuesday night as I don't want to cook after having the gals for lunch.

DD called and is coming over so need to close this out. CYL
