Happy weekend! Did everyone get to sleep in this morning? I slept until 7 am, which is really good for me.

I am slowly getting my house back in order, some decluttering, some cleaning, some organizing. Its looking better, not great but better.

I have a relatively quiet weekend, might have some freinds here to hang out today. Super Bowl tomorrow. My SIL (huge huge HUGE Giants fan!) sent me a picture of my godson all ready for the game in his jersey and his Giants teddy bear. He is so frickin' CUTE!!!! I'll have to scrap it for sure.

*Watch this space for a LO this weekend*

Here it is!!

nope- slept til 6:30- tossed and turned most the night. MMG did not get home until 10- I was wiped from work and snoozed on the couch from 8-10 and 10-12- maybe that is why I tossed and turned. Today- off to dance, then amish country while MMG spends time with a potential new customer- think I will hit the shops in Berlin, OH- I'll even do the fabric ones in Sally's honor!

Morning ladies!

Rain and more rain here today.

Have to share my 20-year-old son came home last night for the weekend. I had to laugh at him. Sometimes I email him a recent page, but I guess I had not been doing that so he must have gone onto FB to check them out. He said to me, ‘What’s up with all the Alyssa pages??!!’ (his sister) I asked how he knew and he said he checks out FB for my pages and then goes to Oscraps to read the comments left by people. Too funny!! Apparently, he is interested in my pages…………….if he is on them!!

Chris and all have a great weekend and stay warm!

Quickie personals!

Phyllis- I was wishing I could get to Home goods- same as TX Maxx, love to find such good bargains and interesting goodies there. The nearest one to me is over a half hour away, It stinks.
How did you do selling the flute? Hope that the shop was fair about it. I have some old gold jewelry I want to get rid of but I am nervous about getting scammed.

Donna how old is your son? College age? Hope you have a great weekend with him and that you and Laurie both survived the grocery store.

Kristy- when you days start out like that, it can only get better,. Right? Right???? I sure hope it did, cuz I have had days like that and we all know that they stink!

Trudy- whew! Great news that you are feeling better. But don't push yourself or you could get sick all over again.

Yvon- did you end up getting a lot of snow?

Maureen, I was wondering how you have been holding up. Good for you to work past the sadness, even though I can't imagine how difficult it must be. To quote a great man: "Forget regret, or life is yours to miss."
Hold on tight to your friends and to your sons. I am happy to see that you are surrounded by strong people. (((((((hugs)))))))))
Just check in when you can, let us know how you are and know that we all are sending love to you.

K- ack!!! Still no sign of the baby? When is your due date? COuld they be off?? Easy and quick labor vibes to you~~~~

Hi laurie and Donna! You both sneaked in while I posting my not-so-quick personals from yesterday.

Did you know that "snuck" is not a word? I was going to say that "you snuck in" but it got flagged by Spell Check. I always say snuck in....hmmm....

Anyway- hope you have fun today, Laurie and Donna- to funny about your son :)

Snuck is in Longman - Spell Check suck ;)

Off to prepare dinner. I'm making "Flygande Jacob" (Flying Jacob) today - a classic 70s Swedish recipe. Even found the recipe in English: http://tummyrumble.hultberg.org/2005/11/recipe_sharing_.html (only thing - I add fried mushrooms too).

Otherwise - I feel tired and un-inspired today. Will snap out of it later tonight, the Swedish contest to elect the contestant for Eurovision Song Contest starts tonight (5 "semifinals" and one big final = 6 Saturdays of pure joy) ... and to top that - after the show - the 2nd season of Sherlock Holmes starts on Swedish TV. *drooooling*

I'm sure I'll be happy dancing later this evening LOL

Chris, didn't do well with the flute. he offered $300, and i told him no, that i was going to be firm at $500, so he said he'd check to see if any of his students would want it at that price. so. back in the closet it goes. maybe i'll just wait for silver to keep going up, then sell it for scrap. the thing with selling gold jewelry is to remember that what carat it is makes a difference in how much you'll get. best advice is to go to a jeweler who buys gold and who has been around for more than a few years. do NOT do it online or at one of those "parties." BIG scams. you'll get next to nothing.

Donna, too funny about your pages and your son. i don't think anyone in my family gives a damn about mine. in fact i KNOW they don't. some people have all the luck!

Laurie, me , too with the toss and turn thing. i made it to 5:50 this morn. sigh....

Eva, i'm still trying to figure out whether i like this new version of Sherlock. i was surprised to see that it actually WORKS, though. i thought is was going to be one of those horrid "Hamlet" set in Manhattan in 2012 horrors, but it isn't. it works.

the punch in the nose thing has turned into a sneezy cold. i think. now my nose is running like a train, but at least my nose doesn't feel like it's black and blue. well. maybe a little. this has been an ODD one!

back to gray and gloomy skies here, with a dash of snow flurries. i'm about to turn 62 in a few days or so, so that's about right for the mood. 62 sound OLD!:fear:

have a great weekend!

Hi!!

Chris, luckily it didn't snow that much! Always when there is snow it seems to throw the whole Netherlands down. Traffic is stuch, the salt-truckdrivers can't keep up with cleaning the roads. Trains are not riding and so on...

Eva, I'll go and check out the swedish dish :-)

I put some eschalots on the stove. I really love eschalots. And since Diane found me the recipe op the special lasagna, there was described how to confit eschalots... I'm doing that right now. Not making the lasagna, but tomorrow I have to figure out how I can use them, in what more different ways LOL

Eva, that sound weird to me, that ovendish with bananas and peanuts LOL
But I'm going to try it. Have it saved into my recipesmap!

It's yummy! This was a "huge hit" in Sweden in the 70's & 80's. I love banana in food - on pizza! Yummy! Banana combined with curry - heaven!

Peanuts - staple food in our home. I love it.

Hi everyone, just a quick pop in for me right now as I am in the middle of changing internet providers and have lots to do , new email etc!! This new service is fast, fast, fast, loving it so far...we will see.

Good afternoon ladies! We have been car shopping today. On Thursday afternoon, Brian's car started driving really funny. He took it to the shop yesterday and they said that it would be $1800 to fix it. It is a 2004 Grand Marquis with 136,000 miles. So, we decided that it was time to jump back into the car payment pool. Then we wake up to snow coming down hard this morning...and Shaun had a swim meet....and we needed to buy a new car. Caused this mom a little bit of stress... But, we just pulled in the driveway with a new Ford Escape. Price was right and it seems like it should work well.

I'll be back in a bit.

I HATE CAR SHOPPING LINDA!!!! this coming from the girl who worked in the car business for 10 years!!

But............I will say this...if that had been a Honda, you would just be breaking it in at 136000 miles :banplease: NO REALLY CONGRATS ON THE NEW CAR!!.. and I do give a big stamp of approval on the Ford Escape (Not that you needed it or wanted it :pound:)...they rate high and hold up very well!!!! AWESOME CHOICE sweetie!!!!

Hi ladies............................... What a CRAPPY CRAPPY CRAPPY DAY HERE!!!! Ooooh look at me so full of cheer!!!! WEll let me tell you...................we have dealt with two very HORRID children the last couple of days (the girls) and they have just about plucked my last nerve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on top of it...it's misty and damp and this arthritis is KILLING ME...I have overdosed on ibuprofen....had to stop taking it...went to the store today and got some aleve....doesn't help me much..but better than nothing...got some of those heat strip to tape on too...plus some Aspercream (never used this before...but we will see how it does) I am going to make an appt next week with the Dr....can't raise two little ones and be like this.

Jesse spent the night with Cameran at Sharon's and they took him to the two boys to the circus....I wanted to take the girls too...but it just wasn't a good day for me....and they would not have the attention span for it.....Savannah would be up and down too much...that's why Sharon wanted to leave her anyway....

So............tomorrow is finish my taxes day....that's why I have done NO scrapping this week....well and these devil children here too.... no they are not....I LOVE THEM DEARLY....I REALLY DO!!!! But I am over trying to find more deductions...so they are just going out tomorrow night after I review them well.

Okay....hope you all have a good evening and great rest of the weekend!!!

omg FINALLY we were without power ALL day...just got it back about a half hour ago.....we got DUMPED on...anywhere from 8-12 inches of snow...depending on where you are standing out there and of COURSE out by my fire wood is more like the 12 inches grrrrrrr lol....and it is HEAVY and WET...and it rained last night so we got a few broken trees....my poor apple tree looks like it took a beating :(

Trudy, did the changing providers turn out oke?

LindaS, good choice a different car! Hope this one will be fine :D

NanaL, did the Aspercream work? I always use ibuprofen for my migraine headaches. I hear people telling me all the time it's bad for the stomach? I've never noticed something from that.
Good thing you made an appt!

It's allmost 6am, and I'm wide awake! Oke, I was awake a littlebit. Checked my email, nsaw some comments on my layout, and Laurie telling me I'm linked in the standing O's topic. So now I can'i sleep at all, I'm to happy LOL

I'm going to read a littlebit..

i went to bed at 7:30 p.m. last night! of course, i woke up at 2 a.m., but i refused to get out of bed and fell asleep again until 6 a.m. now THAT's what i call a night's sleep! maybe i'll have a ton of energy to do stuff aound the house today. maybe i'll do something awful like clean out a closet or something!

Chris, we say "snuck" in Pittsburgh, too. i think it's a PA German thing. bet you don't say "younz!" that's how you can pinpoint a Pittsburgher. this is the only place on earth where that's used. it's a very useful word. it means kind of "all of you guys." sort of like "y'all" but not as charming. we try not to use it in polite society, though....

well, on to find work to so and wait for the weekly SKYPE with the grandmen.

cheers! (ha! ME saying "cheers!" amazing what 10 hours of sleep will do for a person.)

Its Super Bowl Sunday! I am actually such a bad "fan." I rarely watch regular season football, I feel like i don't have the same amount of free time that MMG does to spend all day in front of the TV. /semi-snark But I do love the play-off and all, especially when a NY team is in it.

Caitlyn managed to get herself un-grounded in time to go to her friend's house for the game so it will just be the 3 of us. Fine by me, i can get my pj's on and cheer as loud as I want. hahaha!!

yesterday was kind of a wasted day. I did my house-crap, then I read much of the rest of the day. Scott had freinds over for dinner, and then we watched an older Harrison Ford movie. (Firewall-- not too bad)

Today I have to scrap my baby boy in his Giants gear. And I have to get ready for a very busy week. Tuesday I have scott's IEP meeting at the high school and one of the things we will be discussing is "Transition to Adulthood." Granted, it is not as difficult for him as other kids with disabilities, but my son is very resistant about thinking of his future.I am really starting to feel the pressure. I have friends who have been pushing their kids since elem school to do activities, sports, grades etc. And my focus is to get them healthy and to get through each day. But now-- he is going to be a Junior and we have no money, no plan, his grades suck.....:noidea: :(

Anyway, enough of that..... he's smart, and has a good heart, so it could be worse.

morning all - no new car, no arthritis flare up for me- but we did have snow- I rode with MMG after dance to Amish country- him for work, me for shopping, and as we were driving on winding, snowy, virtually unplowed roads, we met up with a tractor trailer coming up a hill- he was over the yellow line- yeah made for some fun time and grab bar grabbing. My husband is a skilled driver cause even though we slid, we did not ditch it. Unlike the 5 other vehicles that we saw in the ditch yesterday. So today- no snow at my house, cold- work computer turned on- looks like dueling computers on my kitchen table! Need to get stuff done- if I do it at home I don't have to drive into work to make myself. I have avoided it for several weekends and just need to get it done.

Trudy, yeah for fast internet. Mine is faster than dial up, but not consistent- the joys of living in the middle of nowhere!

Eva- I am going to add "snuck" to my spell check dictionary. There. Its done.
I checked out that recipe. I really can't imagine bananas and chicken and chili sauce together. I'll take your word for it that it is good :D

Phyllis- that bites about the flute. Thanks for the advice on selling the jewelry too. I friend sold some of hers over the summer, I'll have to see where she went. Good to hear that your nose is draining. I was trying to tell my mom the same thing with her cough-- get the gunk out!

Yvon- whew-- sounds horrible when it snows by you. Do you get snow very often?

Trudy- smooth change-over vibes for you! Hope your new service rocks!

Linda S- Congrats on the new ride!! *throws good luck change under the seat* Garys car is a 2000 Saturn Wagon- 158,000 miles. It was my dad's and he gave it to us when he got a new car. I worry about it b/c we can't afford a new/used one, but it still seems to be going good. *knocks wood*
How much snow did you get?

Oh Nana-- I hope that the kids behave better for you this week. Very smart move to not take them to the circus. You would have only been more aggravated I am sure. And sitting in the uncomfy seats-- it makes me ache just to think of it.
be careful with the ibuprofen- it really can do a number on your stomach lining. How is the Alleve working out? Good for you to be going to the dr.Hope that s/he can help. *gentle hugs*

Kristy- Do you live anywhere near Sara (petey)? I saw her pics on FB and she got hit hard with snow too. She is in/near Omaha IIRC. Someone can correct me if I have it wrong.....
Glad that your power came back on.

Yvon- woot, congrats on Standing O!!

Phyllis- good for you getting some sleep!! Hope you are feeling awesome and energetic today!
never heard "younz" but people will bust on me for saying cawfee and dawg instead if coffee and dog.

Love to all of you!

I checked out that recipe. I really can't imagine bananas and chicken and chili sauce together. I'll take your word for it that it is good :D

Don't be a chicken ;) Try it - it's Yummy!

Today I'm making "potatisgratäng" - trying to find a similar recipe in English, but no luck. It's close to this: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/creamy-au-gratin-potatoes/ But I don't use cheese or flour - no milk - just real whipping cream. I just layer potato slices in a casserole dish - adding salt, pepper + garlic powder between the layers. Then I pour cream over - in the oven for about 1 hr. Simple but lovely. I always make lots ... so I can have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Serve with meat.

Am. football is really the weirdest sport I know. I don't get it at all. Well, maybe cricket is more suspect LOL It's kinda funny to watch sports when you have absolutely no idea about the rules. :bounce:

Hey everyone, smooth transition for my change of Internet providers Hooray!!! Still changing all my email with everyone. It could take a while as I am sure I have forgotten many places that I need to do that for. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday! I am really trying to get some scrapping done today, but sigh its not working out so far.
Love everything that I am seeing in the Gallery today, hard to pull myself away to do my own pages and also get some housework done :pout:
