Spring?? What is Spring???
However far away spring might feel like right now-- it is 23 Days Until Spring!
The weather sure as heck doesn't feel like spring is any closer than it was a month ago but the longer days are obvious. It was nice sitting down at dinner and it not being pitch dark out there.

So let's see - did I do much of anything yesterday? Not really. I started a page for another March challenge. I made breadsticks again. This time I put dried rosemary and garlic powder in with the flour-- Big hit! Caitlyn had 4 of them with dinner. I had three.
Not much else happened, Scott did all of the shoveling and scraping for us and now everything is iced over again. J was being a total butt and wouldn't come inside so I was trying to grab her lead without having to go into the snowy/icy lawn. She would literally take one step farther away, just out of reach.

Another quiet day here I think. I have no motivation to do much of anything either. Scrapping and laundry seem to be all I got.
Wishing you all a wonderful day!

jeez-- I should proofread my posts better. My typos are terrible!

@tanteva I can only imagine how nerve-wracking it must be to live next door to a madman with nuclear weapons. On that cheery note- hope you are feeling better today. Dr. Faery's prescription for you: yarn, chocolate, and cats. A steady stream of them all weekend long

@BrightEyes It was getting light outside when I took the dogs out this morning, it really makes a difference.
This month's Color Play kits are beautiful. Have fun scrapping with them!
Great news about Leslie- it has to be frustrating for her to that it is slow-going but we all know what happens when we push ourselves too hard ;)

@Cherylndesigns Is your internet back? I sure hope that you don't have to drive down to your "office" again. LOL Have fun going out and about today

@taxed4ever Did you and your Gary make it out for a hike? Hope you did! It is 16*F here so it doen;t seem like the snow and ice will melt today. Maybe tomorrow we will be above freezing. This is killing me, and still stressing me about the heating assistance being in limbo :(

@felis that is a relief to hear about your friend in Ukraine, all good thoughts to her and for a peaceful; resolution soon

@LSlycord Oh noooooooo. That rips my heart out about Decker. I am so so soooo sorry. Poor Shaun must be devastated. I know this is absolutely no real help but try to not second guess yourselves. It is very possible that this had been building in him prior to being returned. BIG hugs to all of you. I am so sorry.

@bcgal00 Sounds like everything is moving along. *fingers crossed the second estimate was lower than the first*

Cheryl- whew! bet you were very happy when the internet got fixed. Braden is a doll!

CONGRATS TO SYD!!!!!!

@faerywings Rosemary & garlic is such a great combo. How do you make breadsticks? I think I know what it is - long sticks, sorta like pretzels gone giants? Are these served as a side to dinner? I think I've only seen it in movies. LOL

Trying to focus on the positive things I see on the news. People helping people. Doctors who jumps into cars to go to Ukraine and help. Volunteers greeting refugees at the train station in Poland, handing out plush toys to kids. Poland closing their eyes to quarantine rules for pets coming from outside of EU, so that people can bring their pets when they flee. All the brave Russian people who dares to raise their voices and protest. A unity within EU that I've never seen before. There really is lots of good and lots of bravery within people. I have to have faith in that, not focusing on the blatant evil that we see.

Good morning all.

Well, I'm up early - yesterday, I slept until 9:30 but not today. I was just laying there so decided to get up. Chuck's waiting on Roger to pick him up for their weekly breakfast date. They try to go out every Saturday or occasionally Sunday. They're SO cute.

Eva @tanteva what warm words from you - you put into words what's in my heart. Thanks for so eloquently saying what you said. Hope you're feeling better. Hugs I just flipped the news on - :(

Chris @faerywings that's so funny that you remember "my office" - I always go into panic mode when our internet goes out. I did that for SO long - it was a daily thing. Yes, Braden is a good kid! He's the most easy-going kid - and SO cute. He just plopped down on the couch and had that app up and running in a couple of minutes - he amazes me.

Linda @LSlycord I agree with Chris - don't be so hard on yourselves. It's hard to let go, but it sounds like Decker had "issues". Congrats to Syd!!! That's awesome!!

Chris @faerywings your "springs" are SO cute - they make me giggle. Your breadsticks sound amazing, too. I just got up, but now I'm hungry. Haha

Hugs to all - I might stop back by and catch up with some of you other girls later on today. I think we're still going out - haven't heard from Adrienne yet, but I'm sure we'll find something to do. I hope our little coffee shop is open or that cute place that Ava and I went to last weekend.

Popping in quickly to say good morning to you all. It is our 45th wedding anniversary today and we can't believe how quickly the years have passed!! Its been a wild ride, but so many beautiful memories that we have shared together. DH is taking me out for a lovely dinner tonight. However it is hard to celebrate when there is so much wrong in the world right now. I have to be like @tanteva and have faith in our fellow human beings who are doing good and being so very brave! Not much happening here other than going out for supper, so glad I don't have to cook tonight! We are supposed to get rain with a mix of snow this afternoon. So glad that we got out to Stoney Hill yesterday and soaked up the sunshine and gorgeous views, it was a lovely hike. We only came across one other couple which was really unusual as this is such a popular spot! Anyway I will get busy with making our brunch of a ham, mushroom, peppers and cheese omelette. Special request from my Gary this morning. I will try to get back here later on in the day and catch up with all of you and hopefully finish off the page I started yesterday. Talk to you later!

I woke up at 3:15 AM - it took awhile to go back to sleep until 6:20... Hate when I have a broken sleep night as I seem to drag the next morning. Had to look at the Color Play collections and new releases again. Fell in love with Simply by Natali designs and had to play with it.... :);):) Got so catch in playing that I let my coffee go cold 3 times!!!

I did get the sheets changed on my bed... and did a couple of loads of laundry yesterday. Picked up my mail from this week and YES... the 1099 I was waiting on came in! Will drop off the tax package at the accountant's on Monday on my way to the base to pick up Rx refills and do grocery shopping. I decided that it is more than past time to get the hair cut... as it is way too long and won't hold a curl/style more than a day. Ugh!! Ready to go back to my wash-and-go style again. Might be able to get it done on Wednesday. Tuesday is reserved for the new March challenges and other CT duties. The weather is on a warming trend for the next week... hooray! Might get up to 70's before Friday!!!

Will pop back in later to do personals...CYL

Talking about focusing on the positive.

I'm not sure if you know abort Eurovision Song Contest? It's a huge contest where most European countries compete. Each country have their own way of selecting the song for each year's contest. I know that in some countries, a song is just chosen by a record company or something. in Sweden it's HUGE. The selection spans over 6 weeks, with 4 "heats", 1 semifinal and 1 final. Tonight was the last heat. 7 songs compete, 2 go to the final & 2 to the semifinal.

Anyway... to the positive. Everyone who watches can vote, either using an app or by phoning. If you phone in, you can chose to call a number that's a bit more expensive. Then the money go to charity. Tonight all the money went to help the people of Ukraine. And they got a little bit over 1.430.000 SEK! That about US$152.500.

That's just from people watching a sill entertainment show on telly.

th

It is still cold enough outside for Olaf to be safe, but the sun is getting brighter every day.
22 More Days!
I hope that the temps warm up enough for the dogs' leads to defrosted out of the snow/ice. One of them has about 2 feet of it buried under the ice and I can't chip the ice away to get it out. The lead doesn't quite make it to the door this way so the dogs get stuck on the steps trying to go inside.

I posted a link for you: I have to share this recipe: Breadsticks!
I didn't want to put them in the Healthy O forum because I don't know if I would consider them "healthy," especially when I end up eating three of them in one sitting LOL

I had another day where I didn't get much of anything done. I finished the LO I was working and I made a yummy dinner and dessert. Fresh tomato pie with homemade crust. Since the recipe makes a double crust, I baked the second pie shell and made a cool whip /choc chip cookie pie. This time of year *all* I want to do is eat sweets. :D
I spent so much time following the news on Twitter and I have to say that the Ukrainians are BADA**-es. If you haven't heard the story of the woman with the sunflower seeds, you should Google it. ;)

My parents are coming up for a quick visit this afternoon. They have some food for us. My brother was at a catered dinner the other night stand has a ton of leftovers- chicken parm and eggplant rollatini. Guess what's for dinner tonight? And tomorrow too if it is as much as she says. Yay!

@tanteva I shared the recipe if you are interested. These are soft breadsticks, like a long, thin, yeasty roll. Delish. There are also breadsticks that are hard, more like a cracker, and I don't like that kind.
The stories from Ukraine are incredibly heartbreaking and inspiring. It has been very nice to see the EU pulling together as well as regular, everyday people. I saw tons of posts on Twitter offering homes or rides for any evacuees. The Russians that are protesting are so incredibly brave. Do I have this right-- Sweden is part of the EU but not part of Nato? or not part of either? I hate that there is sooooo much of the world that I know nothing about.

@Cherylndesigns You are so lucky that you can sleep late. I was up for a couple of hours in the middle of the night again and *still* can't seem to sleep past 5-6 am. My back and shoulder just won't let me. Did you girls get out and do some shopping?

Happy Anniversary Trudy!!!!!!
That is a big one!!! How was your dinner, very romantic? I hope you were able to put the rest of the world out of your mind and enjoy yourselves.

@BrightEyes Yup- broken sleep makes me drag too. I was in a mental battle at 1 am between worrying over Ukraine and that I still haven't gotten any info on the status of the heating assistance and the month is now at an end. Then the guilt of my problems compared to everything else out there *waves arm wide*
Whew-- the 1099 came in *late* - glad you didn;t have to go crazy tracking it down

Eva- that is incredible!!! yay for Sweden raising that money *cheers*

Yesterday I did a lot of pages. Trying to catch up on all the challenges. At one sight I even wrote a poem.

It's called Relative

You were born over 13 years ago

However, the Lord did not give you a chance to grow

There was something wrong with your heart

It tore your mom apart

You lived only 6 weeks

You had such rosy cheeks

When you passed away

It was your mom’s worst day

Your three year old sister was left behind

Your dad was not kind

Ashley, your sister was born a year later

Unfortunately your dad was a traitor

Your mom and dad did not last

Your dad is the past

Today when we see a butterfly

We know you are watching from the sky

Both your sisters have been through hell

And your mom still is not doing well

I pray every day for peace

Lord, why did you take my niece?

Yes it's sad what's happened in the past 13 years. I pray every day things will get better for my sister but it's always something. This week my oldest niece didn't go to school and she couldn't find her for the day. She deleted the app from her phone. With all the struggles with her now she wants to give her to my brother-in-law. Maybe that would bring her peace. It's hard with divorce as the children are so damaged. He broke my sisters heart when he cheated, divorced and remarried. She still cannot find another man as she can't trust anyone. It's so sad.

@faerywings Yes, Sweden is a part of EU, but not NATO. But it's been a debate about joining NATO for years.

Putin has completely lost it. Like one dude just said on Swedish TV, he has "an odd perception of reality".

Morning, gals. Had a nice lonnnnggg sleep from 8:30 PM to 7AM! Feeling much better today so guess I needed the extra sleep. Of course, it could be crawling into a bed with clean sheets made it extra comfy. LOL The sun is shining in extra blue skies so that is a spirit-lifter for sure. Only a few patches of snow left here and there in the neighborhood. Still cold in the mornings - 26* but temps are heading up in the daytime. Looking forward to 70 by the end of the week!!! Sure hope that March doesn't come in a lion... could use more soft sunny days with not too much wind.

@faerywings Those breadsticks sound delicious. Thanks for the link to the recipe. I haven't used my bread machine in ages. I may just have to get some yeast and try it out. I used to make a shredded wheat bread that we loved but I couldn't stay away from it... ate way more of it than I should. I was delighted to see I have lost 5 lbs over the last couple of weeks - so guess I should forget about making bread as I would gain all that back plus more!!! I hear you about wanting sweets alot... think I will pick up some bite size chocolate as I am able to limit it 1-2 of them at a time. Hmmm... now that Valentine's is past, I wonder if the VD candy is on sale. :D The missing 1099 wasn't late as the investment group always sends it out mid-Feb. Just glad to have everything so I can drop it off tomorrow.

@mom2triplets04 I can feel the sadness in the poem for your sister and her family. Losing a baby is so hard on everyone in the family... our family has been through that. <<< hugs to you and the family >>>

@taxed4ever HAPPY ANNIVERSARY... treasure every day and take lots of photos. You are making the memories together that will mean so much in the future. Sounds like you had a perfect day planned for the celebration. How wonderful that you had such a beautiful hike together.

@Cherylndesigns Hope the icy conditions have melted away now. Hope you get the warm-up in your area, too. Glad you got the internet back... and that Bradon was able to get your app installed. I feel lost now that son-in-law and grandson-in-law have moved away as they were my computer gaurs.

Well, time to get dressed and maybe do a few chores around the house. Also finish up the last of the Feb CT things I need to do. Only 1 more day in Feb... then it will be full-press forward into the March ones.

Good morning all.

Well, I was awake bright and early again today - 7:30. I managed to lay there for another hour or so, then the cat was crying to come in, so I let him in my office door, then Daisy got all excited when I let the cat out of the bedroom - play time had begun! LOL They're so funny together - they entertain us. The cat is the boss, of course. He only takes so much "playing", then smacks Daisy in the face a couple of times and they're done.

Chris @faerywings your food always sounds so good - breadsticks, eggplant - yum. I forgot how much I like eggplant. Back in the day, we had a beef shortage and I used to make lasagna with it - so good. I can't believe how many people say they don't like it. We did get out yesterday! We went back to that little restaurant (where Ava and I went last weekend) and got the Monte Cristo(?) sandwiches again. Then we wandered through a couple of stores, but didn't really buy anything - Oh, I did buy some leather conditioner for my new boots. Exciting purchase, huh?

Trudy @taxed4ever I hope you and your Gary had THE best anniversary!! I saw a few things on FB - I love following all of you gals on FB - it's made it fun to be on there again.

Kay @BrightEyes yes, I think the weather is on the upswing. It was pretty nice yesterday when we went out. We didn't even wear our coats - of course, I always wear my scarf around my neck and my gloves. I'm good to go with those. We all had on our hoodie sweatshirts. It IS so nice to have Braden - our little geek guy so close-at-hand. We're going to miss him when he goes away to school next year. TeeHee - I'm already thinking about that. I'm sure you do miss your geek guys - they can do things while we're trying to figure out HOW to do it. Hahaha He had that app up and running in about 5 minutes - he said "there you go, Cici". I couldn't believe it! We have broadband TV, but it sure isn't like XFinity - if we don't load a bunch of apps, we don't have a whole lot. I miss XFinity SO much!!! Oh, wahwahwah - at least we have internet/TV.

Laura @mom2triplets04 your poem is beautiful and SO powerful. I'm sorry your sister is having so many problems.

I'd better get busy and start my month end things, too. Have a good Sunday, all.

Morning ladies... Cloudy and grey but the temps have gone up a bit, so that is nice! DH and I had a lovely dinner last night and our Steak was cooked to perfection!! It was however far too large for me to eat it all in one sitting, so I brought the rest home and we had steak and eggs for brunch Yumm!! Today DH and I are bottling a white wine and then I will get busy cleaning the house and get the laundry done. We heard from both our kids yesterday, so that was good to have a nice long chat with them! Sadie was txting me on messenger during the day so that was fun to talk with her also! Isaac is getting into that teenager stage and doesn't really want much to do with us or his parents LOL. It is just a phase I know, but I will miss his long talks and cuddles that we used to have when he was younger. He was always a hugger, sure hope that never changes! Listening to jukebox oldies while we bottle the wine, its fun to listen these great old tunes! Makes the process go a bit quicker.

@faerywings - Love seeing Olaf on your spring countdown! You say you did not get much done yesterday, but you got more accomplished than I did yesterday! I did manage to get a layout finished and posted in the gallery and need to finish up some end of the month things here too. Enjoy your visit with your Mom and Dad today! How nice that they have some food to share with you! I am trying very hard not to watch too much of the news about the Ukraine, but its very hard to avoid it! You are right... they are a bunch of BADA**ES!! So much braver than I could ever think of being!! Putin has lost his ever loving mind and its time for him to GO!!!!

@tanteva - Yes Putin definitely has an odd perception of reality!! He's gone Hitler!!

@mom2triplets04 - Your poem is very sad, and I am so sorry that your sister has had such a tragic life these past few years! Hopefully she will find someone that can truly love her! It is very hard to lose a child, our family has been through a couple of losses of children, its very, very hard to move on!!

@BrightEyes - Thank you for the lovely Anniversary wishes for us! You are right, I need to take more photos that will turn into treasured memories of our time together! It is so nice that my DH's knees are feeling so much better now that he has lost some weight that he is the one suggesting that we get out for the hikes!

@Cherylndesigns - Thank you also for the Anniversary wishes, it is fun to see the photos etc on Facebook from all of these great gals at the O!!

Ok the wine is ready to be put into the bottles so I better get busy with helping with that! Have a great day everyone!

Good morning ladies. It took most of the day but we got a vehicle, the same SUV as Jen but we bought a 2021 and she has a 2022 Sportage. We bought the higher end model with more power and options. We checked a few car lots, had no luck, there is so little out there to pick from. At Kia we told a sales woman what price range we were looking at and she said they had a demo Sportage with only 5000 km that they hadn't advertised yet, fully loaded and in mint condition with a 10 year warranty on it. We grabbed it. They gave me a bit of a trade-in for my car even though it was worth nothing really b/c it is 15 yrs old. So we got a pretty decent price. I test drove it but let D drive it home. Today I go out in it for the first time to run errands and will go pick up a dog seat cover for the back seat to protect the leather seats. I have to check my phone in it to to make sure the blue tooth is working to run my phone through the display screen. D will have fun reading thru the 1.5" manual LOL but not me. I'll leave that for him to figure out the little details to learn.

In a bit, the new owners are coming to do measurements in the basement for renos. Then a guy is coming to pick up one of the bedroom sets we sold. I was checking dining room sets on Wayfair. Anyone buy furniture from them before? Good or bad experience? I'm not sure we'll find what we want in one of the Kamloops furniture stores so might use Wayfair. They had a couple of sets I liked.

Finished the last two seasons of Dexter and then started the newest season last night. I enjoyed it, it is a bit slow compared to the old Dexter episodes but I'm sure it'll pick up as it goes along. Either way, I love Dexter so I'll be happy to watch it.

I'll do more packing this afternoon after errands. It's coming along slowly, I do a bit every day. Today we're waiting for a quote from another company. Fingers crossed it is a more reasonable price than the previous company.

@faerywings I love soft breadsticks with garlic and rosemary...yum! Enjoy your quiet day.

@taxed4ever Happy anniversary to you both, Trudy! Have a great dinner tonight.

I'd better get going and get a few things done before the new owners come over.

I'm not sure what to feel right now. I'm in shock almost. Swedish government has decided to send military supplies to Ukraine. Sweden hasn't been in war sinne 1814, and have not sent supplies to another country since Soviet Union attacked Finland in 1939. Today is an historic day. Weird day.
