It can't be the last weekend in February. I know that Feb is a really short month, but c'mon man! It's too fast!
Only 4 more days and it will be March but that is good news to me, closer and closer to Spring! I better get my seed packets and potting soil all ready to go
1677328484300.png
First, we must get this cold weather and snow business past us. It got very cold yesterday and for the next few days, we might see snow/snow showers here and there. Not a lot but I would prefer none at all.
I didn't technically rest at all yesterday. I cleaned up the house, did laundry, and played with Caitlyn's rats and the dogs. After lunch, I kept sorting through the old photos and I think I am almost as done with the 1970s as I can be, There are more than a few that I have absolutely no idea when they are from so they are getting tucked into envelopes, "Early 70s" and "Late 70s."
I texted a bunch to my brother if he had any ideas on the when/where. He brought little bits of memory back on a few of them. Some of my memories are *just* out of reach, like a tickle or itch I can't get to.

I called my parents and spoke to both of them, briefly. I didn't ask too much and they *definitely* didn't offer. I guess that is good.
I don't have any plans this weekend, thinking today might be a nice PJ day. Caitlyn got me a Comfy (wearable pullover blanket thingy) for Christmas and I am all snug and cozy in it right now. I look like a giant, grey marshmallow with a head and feet but I don't care. :giggle4:
The more I think about how cozy I am, the more determined I am to stay that way. 1. Brush teeth 2. Brush Hair 3. Wash face 4. Put in contacts-- maybe.

Wishing everyone a nice, relaxing day!

Good morning ladies. I hate to tell you what it looks like here when all of you have such awful weather. But I will. It's 67° and sunny. It feels like 71° and the high is supposed to reach 88° which is a little too warm for me but it is serving the purpose of getting the pool warmed up so I'll take it. The cardinals are in the back yard and singing like crazy...there are two pair today. I guess they like this beautiful weather. I also have a Carolina Chickadee sitting on my lemon tree. Good news about the lemon tree...we have blossoms. I love that! I'm hoping for a good crop of lemons this year.

I met my new cleaning lady yesterday. She starts Tuesday. Got my layouts loaded to the gallery. Karen Schulz has about 500 of my pictures before Brian and she is scanning them for me. I'm telling you, that is the best investment that I have made. So much easier.
I need to go to the grocery store. :( And that is it for me. I'll be back in a bit for personals.

@LSlycord Good morning! The Color Plays are always incredible but this month is just stunning. I know that I am going to have to spend some time in Gallery today just to soak them in. I love watching squirrels, especially when they start chasing each other across the tree trunks. I have to see if Gary still has any of the trail cam footage we got during Lockdown. There were more than a few that had us in tears they were so funny.
I was going to ask if Syd's dorm has AC, then realized duh! Of course, it does. It would have to in FL.
100% can't wait to get my hands in the dirt. I am jealous that you can ;)

@BrightEyes I think you are getting closer to Zippy Gonzales scrapping speeds :floorlaugh:
The weather changes must make you feel so achy, I wish it would pick one middle of the road temp and stick with it. At least for a few days in a row.

The chicken pot pie recipe is very forgiving. I have used frozen mixed veggies as well as canned. I only had one cup of mixed veggies and had to choose between throwing in a can or mixed or extra frozen corn. I went with extra corn/celery/potatoes. I hate peas (soooo gross) so it was much better for me. I am like a child, I pick the peas out and shove them to the edge of my plate.

@bcgal00 :dance2: Congrats on booking the cruise! It sounds so exciting. And romantic, just the two of you. Amazing opportunities for photography as well. Will you have all of your new cameras and lenses ready to go by then?
Did Jen make it home ok or did the storms make the trip rough again?
I don't know how much you are on FB other than for scrap stuff, but if you are- you should follow Stonekettle. He makes political posts regarding the US but he also is a phenomenal wildlife photographer. Jaw-dropping stuff. I bet you would appreciate his work.

@Cherylndesigns hahahah!! We have done that too, moved tables and chairs and seating all around. I bet Alyssa was mortified, poor girl.
Would you believe that the weather this winter in NJ has been relatively warm and that I have only had to break out the hats and fingerless gloves a few times? And the thermostat is set at 65*- weird weird weird weather this year :/

@vickyday sorry that you didn't get your PJ day yesterday, join me for one today!
I bet you could use chicken/turkey/a combination of the two if you have any frozen for the potpie.
I am such a collector of recipes so I understand how you got lost in the rabbit hole. (you'd think I would have a better handle on that to make for dinners, but alas. Nope).
Trudy told me about egg steamers a few years ago, one of my best purchases *ever.* I love mine too ♥ (Thank you again, T!)

@taxed4ever Oh wow, that sounds awful, is the weather any warmer today? I hope if it still is so cold you and your Gray won't have too many errands today.
Poor Cait is feeling much better but her voice is *gone* She is on the Hiring Committee and had to participate in 5 interviews yesterday. Her voice was a little scratchy when she started and by the time she got home... she sounded like a squeaky little kid. :lol23:
Your hiking group sounds like it is run really well. This is the first year the County has been doing the guided hikes, one of the reasons they hired Scott FT was to lead them. They have some regulars - averaging about 10-15 each time. There is one in April that I might sign up for. I should get boots for it though. Since I stopped hiking when we all got sick, I ran my old boots to the ground and replaced them with really cheap ones. I only wear them in the yard, never on a hike.
My cousin and I want to get the families together for some hikes- she, her youngest son, and DH all hike where some of Scott's parks are. We think that Lucas and Scott would get along really well. Lucas was born close around the time we lost touch (Scott was 6) but they have a lot in common. Anyway-- my rambling point is that if we do that, I am going to need to get boots anyway.
Why say it in one sentence if I can say it in 10 :rotfl:

YUM!! Banana bread is one of my favorites! Can you bake banana bread in PJs??? Why the heck not? (Note to self: Take off the marshmallow suit or you are going to put the sleeves in the batter). I am pretty sure I have enough bananas in the freezer.
I *knew* I didn't put the flour away for a reason. ha!

Better get going, even if I stay in my PJs. Its goign to take me a long time to dig the bananas out of the freezer if I am going to make the bread today.

:groupchat: and #coffee-4 to everyone!

Good Morning ladies! It is still very chilly here today, but the temps have risen a bit. Now we are in for a big dump of snow later today and more on the way for tomorrow too. Uggh!! Guess my Gary will be playing with his snow blower for a couple of days. I need to get a couple of layouts posted to the gallery today and maybe I will find time to try doing another one with the gorgeous Color play items. Other than that we have grocery shopping to do but not much else. The snow is supposed to start falling at around 10am so we will head out early and get to the store and back home before it gets bad. Yesterday I found a nice gift for Sadie’s birthday and got that sent to her. I will mail her card today and I also got a birthday card made for SIL Linda’s boyfriend Mark. We are going for dinner with them on his birthday on the 1st of March and Sadie’s birthday is on the 5th. Her other grandma is going to fly out to spend some time with them and so she will be there for her birthday Lucky her! The grandpa will not be going, he has gone down a deep hole since Covid happened and has gotten very paranoid etc. Well that is whole new can of worms, so I won’t go there right now :notinfrontofthekids: LOL. I can hardly believe that our little Sadie is going to be thirteen!! How did that happen???

@faerywings - I wish you had a photo of you all wrapped up like a giant marshmallow!! I bet you are so nice and toasty warm!! I am usually way to warm and so being bundled up like that would freak me out! Isn’t it ironic that I have Raynaud syndrome so you would think I would be cold all the time, but then you know that all it takes is to be in the cooler section of the grocery store to trigger that. I hope that you are able to get your seed packets and potting soil soon, it sure would be nice to be out in the garden again! Glad that you did not have to listen to your parents bickering while you called them. It is sure nice that your brother has a good memory and can remind you of some old memories! It will be good when you get those photos all sorted out!

@LSlycord - Sure go ahead and rub it in about your lovely warm weather!! I will look out the window at the snow and cold and dream of being in your pool. :tongueout1: How lovely to have the cardinals singing in your backyard! I hope you have a bumper crop of lemons this year! Wow that is a lot of photos to be scanned! No wonder you sent them to Karen Schulz!!

Well I better get in the shower and get ready to go before the snow starts, hopefully we won’t get as much as they say we will. What are the chances?? I will pop in later to say hi to everyone else that stops by. Have a great Saturday morning ladies!! :waving1

Morning, everyone. I slept in until 8AM... guess my body said I needed the extra sleep! :D
Yesterday, I made a run over to the library to pick-up "The Choice"... the last book in the The Dragon Heart series by Nora Roberts. And dropped off mail at the post office. It was in the low 50's with little wind so was a good day to get those errands done. Suppose to be about the same today before the storm moved in tonight/tomorrow.
I texted a bunch to my brother if he had any ideas on the when/where. He brought little bits of memory back on a few of them. Some of my memories are *just* out of reach, like a tickle or itch I can't get to.
You are not the only one... my sister and I both had trouble remembering parts of Mother's funeral .... until I looked in my photos and found photos of the meal after the funeral and photos of the family floral arrangement. Then she found a few photos at the funeral home. That brought back most of the memories of that sad day.
@BrightEyes I think you are getting closer to Zippy Gonzales scrapping speeds :floorlaugh:

Not really, Chris. So far I have only made 1 LO a day with the Color Play - but they all got posted on the same day so it looks like I was doing a lot. I agree... wish the changes in weather every few days is hard on the body.

I was :floorlaugh: over your description - " I look like a giant, grey marshmallow with a head and feet but I don't care." Glad it is keeping you nice and warm. But you are right - you need to take it off if you are going to be cooking of you will be dragging the sleeves into the banana bread batter.

I'm back. Recharged with some #coffee-2 ,cleaned the plants up a little more. I have a bud on my tea rose bush. I'm still used to having crocus popping up as my first flowers...not tea roses.

@faerywings you have the cutest little pics. I got both kids Comfy's a couple of years ago at Christmas and they love those things. When it gets chilly here, they both throw them on. I hope that this is the last really cold spell that you guys need to endure! Poor Cait and her voice...but how cool that she is on the interview committee! That's great experience!

@taxed4ever Hope you made it to the storm and back home before the snow starts again. Wow... your area sure is getting slammed lately.

@bcgal00 so happy you got the cruise booked... and that isn't very far away before you are on it.

@Cherylndesigns you and the girls are always up to shenanigan... moving furniture around is so funny.

The #coffee-3 is empty and it is time to get dressed. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

@BrightEyes glad that you finally got to sleep in a bit. And glad that you were able to get out for a bit yesterday before the weather turns bad again.

@taxed4ever there is a spare bedroom and bath down here anytime you want some warmth and sunshine. This winter seems to be lasting forever. Hope you can get your grocery shopping completed before the snow starts again. You talking about birthday cards reminds me that I need to find one for Syd before we go down to school to see her on Wednesday.

Good afternoon all.

I'm back to my typical time today. Slept in, then laid in bed answering texts for about half an hour. I do voice texting now, so I can do them w/o my glasses on, as long as I can read the incoming message. I have my phone on dark mode - black background and white text - it's so much easier to read (with my eyes, at least).

I want you girls to know that we all went out to dinner again last night - me, Adrienne, Alyssa and our honorary family member, Aly. She lives in one of the rental properties and has been here for quite a while. We've adopted her into the family. But, we were SO good - we went to the restaurant where Alyssa works and she's always on pins and needles when we eat there. Kay @BrightEyes you'd have been proud of us. Trudy @taxed4ever no moving tables last night. LOL The owners of the restaurant are Albanian, but it's kind of an Italian food place - don't ask. The food is amazing and she says that they all speak in Albanian. LOL Anyway, I think Aly kind of makes us act "normal". She's very calm and quiet - can't believe she likes us all so much. We're anything but!! :rotfl:

Chris @faerywings I started some seeds a week ago and have more to get started. Casey is bringing me some "starts" too - she started her seeds too early and hers are blooming already. I'm anxious to see which ones (herbs) will come back up in my gardens. too. I have my seeds and potting soil - I got some trays with raised lids at the hardware store last week, but need a bunch more. Found a good deal on Amazon. They'll be here Tuesday. Love your bitmoji - SO cute.

Linda @LSlycord I'm so glad you found a cleaning lady - hope you like her and it works out well. We had 2 different cleaning groups and the second one was a husband/wife team - they were the best. We kept them until we moved. The first "group" they literally brought in about 4 people, but they kept raising their prices. Hardly any of them spoke English (or didn't want to) so I couldn't even communicate with them when they were there. I finally just left the whole time they were there.

Vicky @vickyday hope you get a PJ day soon. Will it be today? I thought today was Sunday, and I thought "she can't have a PJ day on Sunday" then I saw it was Saturday. I guess going out to eat the last two nights has completely destroyed my concept of time. Chris @faerywings and I are in a race to see who doesn't know what day it is the most. :rotfl:

Good afternoon, ladies. The day is slipping away from me. I ended up going thru my clothes to see what I might want to buy before the trip. I want a sun hat and maybe a new purse. The next thing I will check will be airline restrictions b/c its been so long since I've flown that I don't know the do's and don'ts anymore. I've also been outside a lot today with Remi b/c with the snowstorm she wants to get outside to play in the snow a lot. So far we have about 3" and more coming today and tomorrow.

I'll be back in the morning for personals. I haven't even had lunch yet, it's one of those days, it is flying by :)

Good morning. Got the dogs new lick mats and they like them. It seems to have reduced Hayden's anxiety a bit which is what I was hoping. I also got a new attachment for the hose to give them baths...it mixes the water and the shampoo without me needing to do that. I am hoping that if I give them a lick mat before I start the bath they will be happy enough to let me do the bath without much trouble.

I realized yesterday that I had forgotten to write the story that in my early years, my mom was a stay at home mom. There are so many stories that I want to get documented. There are so many things that I want to document. And so often that I wish that I could reach out and ask a question of my parents or grandparents or aunts and uncles. But I'm lucky that I do have lots of memories that come back to me when I look at these photos.

@vickyday I hope that you really got to enjoy a PJ day yesterday. It's good that you knew that yesterday was Saturday. It doesn't take much to get my days mixed up. I'm hoping that starting to work will sort that back out for me.

@bcgal00 what a fabulous cruise that will be. I love it! And to have Jen home to watch the dogs...that is the worst part for us, having to find someone to watch the dogs. I hate it when I board them. But we will definitely do that when we cruise in December.

@Cherylndesigns looks like you and the girls have been having way too much fun! We did have cleaning ladies that we couldn't communicate with. I had to wait for their manager who could speak English. It wasn't bad at first but then they kept sending new people and it became too hard. This poor lady speaks very little English but I'm hoping that since she is the only one, we can get some level of consistency.

Need to go to get groceries today. I might need to start having those delivered again. Trying to streamline my life so I can fit work back into my life. Talk to you all later.

The sun is shining and I am full of caffeine. It's a good start to the day. (I'm ignoring the temps for now, 22*F :brrr: )

How was everyone's Saturday? Mine was pretty quiet. Gary was upstairs on his computer (he moved it back up there, thank goodness!) and Caitlyn didn't get out of bed until almost noon. I was glad about that, her voice is still very squeaky but she seems more energetic than she had.

I had a lovely PJ Day and un-marshmallowed myself when I made the banana bread. This is the recipe I use, Banana Bread, but I have made a few tweaks. I only use 1 1/2 cups of sugar. 1 cup of white, 1/2 cup brown. Lots more walnuts and I usually mix white choc and semi-sweet chips. Whatever I have on hand. I also add 1 tsp vanilla to the batter. It calls for shortening but I either use a combo of shortening and butter or margarine. I lean more towards margarine since butter is $$. I even used canola oil and margarine before. As before-- whatever I have on hand. It's a dense, sticky texture, just the way we like it. Mmm mmmm

I scrapped a picture of my nephew, Christopher, for the Template Challenge. I am really behind on his album. I have 5-6 weeks to do at least 10 more LOs. I do this every darn time, wait until the last minute. I organized some more photos and decided to put a small S on the back of the photos I have scanned already. Now that I am close to done with the 70s I think I better start scrapping some of them.

Not much happening here- Scott is at work and Caitlyn and Tom are off to a Wedding Expo. I already started my food shopping and will set up my schedule for the week. Oh, yeah, I have to make a b-day card for my niece, she turns 25 on Saturday. She and my BFF (turning 55 in May) are going to Disney in April to celebrate, just the two of them.
Hmmph. I am turning 55 in June, why didn't they invite me? :giggle4:

hugs!!

Just hoping the gusts don't get as high as last week! I plan on hunkering down and having a PJ day and reading while the winds are high. Will keep an eye on the patio furniture from the family room.

Waiting to hear from DS#2 if he is flying in next Saturday or Sunday and if he is renting a car or if I need to pick him up. Then DS#1 and his wife will be here on Tuesday - 7th. They will all be leaving on Thursday. Then DD#1 and her crew will be here the following week. My 'to-do list' is get fresh fruit/veggies... and bread and a few other things... this week and then again in between the son's visit and DD's visit.

Hope to catch up on CT work between their visits and after they are back home. Won't be scanning any photos until later. Time to move all the photos, albums, etc off the office hide-a-bed and back into the craft room. I need to re-sort the ones I have scanned in. I have set up folders for dad's side of the family and for Mom's side of the family; plus one of my family - the early years; and one of my husband's family; and one DH and our family - early years. Once I get those all straightened out, I can go back to scanning in the photos I haven't done.

@LSlycord Let me know how the dogs do with the lick mats. Do you wash them in the tub or outside? I was just telling my girls that they are stinky and need baths but I can't lift/wrangle them in and out of the tub on my own.
Did I tell you that J uses the outside button on her Fluent Pet mat? It only took her a year! Bwuahahah! She doesn't use it often but you should hear me whooping and hollering when she does. W-- the dog I thought would figure it out much faster- she won't even look at the buttons.
Good luck with journaling about your mom, I hope that all of the memories are filled with love ♥
I was really excited for Caitlyn when they invited her to be on the Hiring Committee. It is a State school so the process is very detailed but she is enjoying it

@taxed4ever Did it stop snowing yet? How crazy that you have gotten so much this year- but yes, at least your Gary has put the snowblower to good use. My Gary has been lazy and never checked it over to see if ours works. At the rate we are going... it is not that big of a deal. We are supposed to be getting an actual snowstorm Mon-Tuesday- but as of this morning it is going to be 3-5" - so basically a little more than a dusting for here.
Sadie is going to be 13!!?? These kids have to stop growing up so fast.
100%-- just walking through frozen foods does that to my hands too, all blue and red blotches. I hate driving with gloves, I never feel I can grip the steering wheel good enough. I'll keep the glove on my left, and put the heat directly on my right and I still end up with the burning and freezing feelings.
Stay warm and comfy today

@BrightEyes Too funny! I got the notice from Libby that The Chouice was ready for me to download and I started it last night. :)
Hopefully, the snow won't stick around too much if your temps have been in the 50s.
The photos help trigger some memories for me. However, scrappers/historians/genealogists would be pulling their hair out if they saw the number/quality/subject matter of my family photos. For ex: I have 9 photos of a Christmas in 1973. Several are blurry. A few have our heads chopped off. The others are almost identical. Christmas 1974- there are two photos of me and my brother in front of the tree. The third is the bottom half of the tree. That is it. Then there aren't any other photos of that time period until next Christmas. *bangs head against the wall* Utter madness! :exitroom:
I keep calling you Zippy Gonzales and I realized this morning that his name is Speedy Gonzales. Oops!
I hope that the weather is settling down a bit and you don't hurt so much today

@vickyday yay for PJ days! :pillowfight:
I dug a very pie-crust-filled hole for myself. I started making homemade crust many years ago and the family revolts on me any time I use premade. I admit, it *is* worth the trouble even as I grumble my way through it. I use a Martha Stewart recipe and it almost always comes out perfect.
Sorry to hear that crochet hurts your hands so much:(

What a great quote for @Nonni F :rotfl:

@Cherylndesigns How hard was it for you and Adrienne to behave at dinner? ;) Alyssa would have given you all such a stink eye!
Scott bussed at a local Italian restaurant when he was in HS- the owners were Albanian too. The food was delicious.
I am still brokenhearted that I lost my lavender and rosemary last season. They were so big and well-established, I think too much snow got piled on them. That won't be an issue this year. I hope all your herbs come back! Isn't it the *best* feeling when you uncover new growth? Love IT!!!

@bcgal00 Did you get some new pics of Remi in the snow? Hope you did!

xoxo

Good Sunday mOrning, I was up and out early as I always am on Sundays. We hit the grocery store when it opens and is quiet. It's lightly snowing with more to come through out the week.
Yesterday was definitely a PJ day. I never got out of mine. Single digits again... convincing me NOT to open the door.
I fought some more with old files trying to get them off those darn drives. Other than that... a very quiet day.
However you each spend your Sunday, I hope it's a great one.

Yes, I'm sure going back to work will fix the mixup of days for you! I never did mind working, but I much prefer to be home and mixed up on my days, LOL!

Good morning ladies. I have been outside quite a bit this morning. Remi wants to play in the snow constantly. We got about 3-4" and a bit more coming later. Still not sure if we'll be able to drive to Kelowna to the express passport office tomorrow but if the roads are clear enough we'll go b/c there will be a bit more snow coming throughout the week so don't want to put it off any longer than necessary. If possible, we'll head out around 7:30 am. The drive is about 2.5 hours as long as the roads are clear. So I figure we'll be driving 5-6 hrs tomorrow...ugh. Plus however long we have to stand in line for our turn. I expect it'll be evening before we get back home. Today I'll scrap, do laundry, get out to play with Remi and later will binge Your Honor.

@faerywings Hope T & C enjoy the wedding expo. How exciting for them. Hope you enjoy your quiet day.

@Nonni F I don't often have a PJ day b/c I'm always getting outdoors with the dogs but I often have 1/2 days where I don't get dressed until close to lunch. I love the comfort of wearing PJs instead of my usual jeans and sweater.

I need to find the email with the passport form and get that printed and filled out. I'd better get out of here. Enjoy your day, everyone.

I'm not giving Mark a reason to request homemade pie crust, LOL! Not at this point anyway! Too much time in the kitchen gives me hives, LOL! Plus I fired all of the kitchen fairies and am doing a great job at keeping my kitchen clean.....so far! ;)

I hear you. When they first started, I was standing there, going into all this detail - she was looking right in my eyes, and I got done and said "you didn't understand a word I just said, did you"? Her "manager" came running in to intercede. #crazy-2

OMG - you just nailed Alyssa - "the stink eye"!!! It was SO hard to behave - I can't even tell you. Alyssa is like a drill Sargeant - she really needs to go into the military or law enforcement. She's SO regimented. We all went to Walmart today - yes, Alyssa too - she has NO patience with us or our shenanigans' - she always has to be the one to give orders. She looked at me and said "can you bring the cart up here - we were in the checkout lane. I said, "I'm trying, Lyss but your butt is in the way." :lol23::floorlaugh: She said "Oops" and moved her butt - I LOVE messing with her. #devil She loves me thought, because she just brought me flowers the other day. :heartpumpred::heartpumpred:

That's SO funny that Scott worked for Albanians, too. (Of course he did. Why should that surprise me?????) We are living in similar universes, after all. The food is delicious, and they serve SO much - they have this chicken pasta dish that's amazing and don't even get me started on their bread.
