It is Groundhog Day and Super Bowl Sunday! woot.

Anyone hear what the Groundhog(s) said? Off to the Google.
Oh good! Groundhog Day 2013 : Punxsutawney Phil Predicts Spring Is Coming!
Well, then. that is That. LOL

What good stuff do you have planned for this weekend? I am helping Cait paint today. One pink wall and one purple wall, leaving us with a green wall and a blue wall to do some other day. It is going to be ....... um, interesting??? But its kind of like how I feel about her dying her hair. It just paint/hair color. Let her have fun now, she has plenty of time to be boring when she gets to my age.

Tomorrow- no plans for the Super Bowl. We usually end up having people over, but not this year. Too tired.

Make it a great one!!

yesterday:

Ugh! nana, that stinks about the school. Did you survive the day ok or did the kids tie you up again? Ack, I forgot to post my page for your Color Challenge- I always love your palettes!

Laurie- yeah, I felt the same way about work yesterday too. But the bills have to get paid somehow, right? Good luck with the food part of your diet/exercise program. Having a loooooooooooong history of disordered eating and anorexia, I wish there was someway I could have some sort of normal relationship with food. I swing from hatred of foods and calories to a total denial of the calorie part which usually smacks me back into the hatred part again. I have gotten better over the years and the swings are not as drastic but its still a love/hate thing. However, if anyone can figure it is successfully, I know it will be you!!!!

Linda S. Now is is 140-24 hours. So here: :brick:

:D

Phyllis-- hahah!!! You know what is even worse then Men with Carts? Its the Old Couples with Carts. They combine the worst of it-- the lady is chattering away and the man is cluelessly waiting for her in the middle of the aisle. But you cannot get mad at them because you are so damn happy to see couples still shopping together and that haven't killed each other yet. Gives ya hope, yannow?? :pound:

The window guys blamed your house??? ugh!!!!!! Total high five to you for not losing it on them.

Happy birthday to Mr. Trudy!!!!!
Have a wonderful date night Trudy! So nice to hear that work is going well. I am guessing no one misses your old boss, eh? :)
hahaha!! Clean house and no cat pee?? Too funny! I told Gary about your dream and he was cracking up too!

xoxoxo to everyone!

LOL...good philosophy on the paint Chris. Syd has one green wall and one pink wall...and two white walls. She is happy. Shaun has bright orange walls (which I have actually fallen in love with...walking into his room is like walking into a sunrise!). He is happy. Ok...good enough for me! They are happy...I am happy!

Today...need to dig out summer clothes and stick them into the suitcase. Need to fight with DH because he doesn't want us to carry on a bunch of junk. Me neither...but a camera bag, a laptop bag...these are not junk...these are necessities!

Plans for today...take Dad to breakfast, take Dad to bank, get vet to fax dog's records to boarding place, go to Chinese New Year celebration, hold February birthday celebration at our house (niece turned 18 yesterday and husband turns 50 this week), begin packing... But no soccer or basketball! And no work at home this weekend!

It's all good...if you know that in 95 hours you will be wheels up and leaving this frozen tundra (it was -6 yesterday morning according to the weather guy).

we're "up" to 10 degrees. they've downgraded the snow from 4-6" to 2-4." which probably means that it either will NOT snow at all, or that we'll get a foot of the stuff. :eek2::smow: i hope the groundhog was right. i tend to think he is, because i have been hearing birds singing on days that aren't too frigid. that gives me hope.

no idea what i'm up to today. i'm just winging it! hope all y'all have a great weekend. :becky:

Morning O ladies!! Happy Ground Hog Day!! Hooray the Groundhog says early spring!! It must be true, my MIL's rhubarb is poking through the ground already. Off to the city tonight for dinner and a movie for MG's birthday. Hopefully the fog is not too bad on the Malahat!! At least we don't have snow to deal with.

Chris - Your DD's room will be very interesting indeed!! How nice that you have such a good outlook on it though!! You are right! Let them have fun while they can, they will have enough seriousness in their lives when they are older!! Work did go well yesterday and I even volunteered to stay another 2 hrs to help out my friend in the back office. She was very happy that I did and we got lots done!! No none of us miss the tyrant!! :becky:

LindaS- Another busy, but fun weekend for you and your household!! But knowing that you will be in the warm sunshine soon is enough to keep you going I'm sure!! I am green with envy!! I don't think that we will be heading anywhere this winter  just no good deals and with hubby's new job he doesn't get too many days off. We still have to go to DD"s when the baby comes and to DS to see his new home soon too. So that kinda makes it hard to travel anywhere else. Guess I could sneak myself into your suitcase and get a vacation that way?? :becky:

Phylis - Ha, Ha, it is the same way here with the weatherman!! One never really knows what you will get here either. Just have to look out the window and predict yourself what will happen. Hope you don't get anymore snow, its time for some warmer springlike weather!! Hope you find something fun to do today!

Well I've promised DH an Omelette with everything in it for his birthday breakfast, so I better get started on it. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!!

Good afternoon - Happy Ground Hog day. I have had a great day. February is my favorite month of the year and not because it is the shortest but it has so many fun holidays and my birthday. So for the past few months I have been looking for a good camera that has the features of a dSLR but not the weight and size of one. I dont want just a point and shoot and with me going to Paris in July I wanted one that does more. Well Sony and Nikon have come out with a new type of camera that has all the bells and whistles and so compact. I tried out the Sony NEX 7 - a mirrorless camera and they had a fantastic sale. So my DH went with me and I got it. The sale bundle includes the body and 3 lens, a wide angle, an 18-55 and a 55 to 210. I am so happy. Now I am just waiting for the battery to charge and set it up and take some photos. It should be much easier on my shoulders and back. I love my Nikon and it will have its place depending on what I am photographing.

My husband and my son are the best and faster grocery shoppers. My DH and son do 99% of the grocery shopping. And they complain about the women and their kids taking up all the isle space LOL.

Phylis watching my Devils play the Penguins. Good game!

Chris have fun painting - I love how you let her be creative in areas that are easy to change.

Trudy enjoy the birthday and the omelette sounds wonderful.

LindaS sounds like a busy weekend but the reward of Hawaii seems so worth it.

Have a great weekend!

Good afternoon- I had a wonderful morning of girlfriend time- drove to one's house and rode to anothers town had coffee and breakfast at a quaint little place called Sips, then went next door to The Pink Cupcake- yes I took lots of photos and can't wait to scrap, but MMG needs some attention.

It's been a great day! about 80! It was cool this morning--enough for a jacket but by lunch time I was shedding the jacket and almost sweating on the golf course. Yes, we went golfing this morning. It was gorgeous outside!!

The rodeo is a big thing in Texas. Every year the trail riders saddle up, get the wagons going and take a trip (lasts a week) from south Texas to San Antonio. They stopped in my city today. So, this afternoon--got hubby to take me out to find them and took photos. They sure looked like they were having a blast. Any way--it's an old fashioned trail ride. Wagons. Horses. sleep outside. cook outside.

After that we ran errands. I make Craig go with me to the grocery store. Although today we just had to pick up a few things.

Stopped to visit my mom and dad.

Came home and detailed the inside of my car. It looks nice!!! Sweet!! New!! Tomorrow I am going to wash it and wax it.

Getting dinner cooked now and then I am going to hunker down with my puter and scrap.

Tomorrow--church. wax car. piddle around. scrap. watch the Super Bowl.

Hope each of you enjoy your weekend.

Celebrated the February birthdays and had a great time. About 6 weeks before my mom died, we had a conversation and she wanted me to give her amethyst ring to my niece. The ring was a gift from my dad on mom's 21st birthday. Although amethysts are pretty inexpensive, this one is huge and just beautiful. The story is that Dad bought it for her 21st birthday and she complained so much about him spending that much money that he didn't buy her another piece of jewelry for about 18 years. ;-)

Anyway, my sweet Sarah turned 18 yesterday. We celebrated at our house and I told her that I wanted her to come to my room for a minute...that I had another gift for her. I told her about the conversation that Mom and I had. Poor Sarah just broke down and sobbed. Sarah ALWAYS has her emotions under control. She stood there with me holding her tight and told me how much she misses her grandma. I took a picture and I will get it scrapped sometime this weekend. My mom was quite a lady... Like Sarah, I miss her a lot too!

((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) Linda S. That is so sweet and touching. What a very special gift to your niece. It sounds like she is going to treasure it forever.

I think one of the best gifts we can give and share is love for our family. While we were painting yesterday, Cait and I had lots of time to talk and we talked about my mom and my grandma (my mom's mom) whom I adored! I wish Cait could have met her. She passed away 2 months before my wedding and I still miss her. Anyway, i think it is so special that Cait adores my mom and MIL and I know it makes my mom so happy that Caitlyn loves to hear about her mom. Its like the love just runs up and down through generations. I can see that happens in your family too, Linda.

Is that sappy? I feel very emotional lately- but its true. It means the world to me that Cait loves the people I love and the people I love, love each other. Its a multiplier effect.

LindaS, what a touching story! it's a moment i'm sure your niece will never forget. beautiful. i think we never stop missing our parents, no matter how long it's been since they left us. ((hugs))

Nancy, SORRY about that Pens/Devils game!! i never expected that the Penguins would beat NJ!!

Terry, the rodeo thing sounds like such fun!! texas just knows how to do EVERYTHING better. i'm also envying you the ability to wash and wax your car in February....:smow: :mmph:

Nana, i laughed out loud at your post about school being off AGAIN on Monday! good luck with THAT!

Chris, one of the things i have "planned" when Hubby retires is to force him to grocery shop with me. can you believe we have NEVER been in a grocery store together? and i think he's been in a grocery store about 5 times since we've been married. i've been all for Division of Labor. he moves too slowly for me....

Laurie, nothing like a day out with The Girls. can't wait to virtually "feast" on your cupcake photos.

more snow today. :smow: drat.

Okay so I bought two cupcakes yesterday one with a bee on it and Bavarian cream filled, and one with a ladybug and raspberry filled. I planned to take photos today and then eat my bee one- yeah MMG ate the bee one and no cute photos, hopefully I will get to photo the ladybug one before it gets eaten! Okay off to get ready for the day, church and cleaning and laundry and dancing (MMG wrote it on the calendar) and superbowl party with MMG!

Linda S- we got the two walls painted and they sure are bright. But very happy and cheerful and "Caitlyn." My client asked me on Friday what plans I had for the weekend and when I told him I was helping Cait paint her room all different colors, he chuckled because he remembered when she would come to work with me, she would have multi-colored hair and mis-matched bright colored socks. So it suits her very well. I can't imagine bright orange walls, but like you said, it is makes him happy, that is what matters.:)
I also think that when we let out kids feel like that have a say in things it helps them gain confidence. SO I try to pick my battles on where they get free reign and when I hae to put my foot down. It doesn't always work as I plan and sometimes I worry that I am creating monsters.... but live and learn????

Camera bags and laptop bags-- NOT junk!!!! LOL

Phyllis- we are at 16* and more snow-- but only a little bit--an inch or two. How about you? How was your day, get anything fun done?

Trudy- how was date night? Hope that the fog wasn't too bad. And you stayed late at work on Friday? How funny that when it is your choice and for people you like and that you are appreciated-- it makes the difference in the world!!!

Nana!!! OMG! Come and run away to my house- Kids are in school all week. :) Why do the kids get off all day for conferences? We only have one set of conferences in November and they are optional. Kids get early dismissal on those days but that is it.
And yes- you can live up north, with me!!!! We can grab blankets and wear hats inside and b**** and moan together.

Nancy-- the camera sounds really cool!!! Congrats!!!! Does it take action hockey photographs? I can't wait to see your gallery and your hockey pages again :D

laurie- sounds like a wonderful afternoon! Can't wait to see your photos!

Terry- Not to sound like an obnoxious Jersey Girl but the first thing that popped into my head about the trail ride was "Only in Texas!!" I do not mean that disrespectfully, just that it obviously not work too well here. ;)
It actually sounds like a lot of fun to watch and take photos and all that. Make sure you link us up with your pages when you scrap them!

hugs to all of you!!!

You would have been laughing your BUTT off at out local news/sportscasters yesterday. You would have thought someone died on the ice the way they were going on about how the Devils lost. Sheesh!

what a lovely mom you are.
Thank you!!! Sometimes I think that is the only thing I am good at and then. I end up feeling that I am screwing up their lives.... So its good to hear that maybe I am not so bad. :)

Laurie- UGH!!!! MAke him go and get you another bee!! LOL

Chris, that is exactly how I feel about it...just didn't ever know how to put it into words. And I think that the world could use a few more of us saps! Just sayin' And, you are a fantastic mom, don't ever doubt it!

Phylis, you have never been in a grocery store together? That made me laugh! I will remember this you know. That's what I do...remember little bits of information that really are meaningless to me. So count on it...when you tell us in the Daily O's sometime that DH is retiring, I will tell you that I'm looking for a layout from the grocery store!

Laurie...tell him no more cupcakes until you take a picture! That's funny...you may have to do a photo-less layout to tell the story!

Terry how far are you from San Antonio? The trail ride sounds like it would have been a great opportunity for photos. Can't wait to see them.

Nancy, the camera sounds great. I think that I saw an advertisement for one of those. I need to go check it out! And sorry about the Devils loss.

Trudy, how was date night? Tell us all about it. We should do more date nights...around here they happen about once a year. The thing is, we had an empty nest for so many years...about 15...that we kind of did the empty nest syndrome backwards. :bounce:

Nana, I swear, kids here are out of school all of the time. They actually reduced the amount of time that they were out for conferences this year...before it was 4 days, twice a year for conferences. Now it is down to 2 days, twice a year. We have the kids out for 8 school days...but teachers are doing in service days for 1 1/2 of those days. That wouldn't be so strange except the week we get back, they have conferences and the kids are out of school for 2 days.

I give up!

See you ladies later...

Good morning here in NJ there is a dusting of snow - so pretty but no sun and it is cold. Yes the Devils were pretty bad yesterday LOL. I always feel they cannot win all the games and some games are a just bad. The thing for my team is how they respond in the next game. They play the Islanders today so the need to win today.

Chris you are not sappy and it is fun to talk to our kids about their relatives.

Phylis so how is the new window doing?

Terry that rodeo event sounds so fun. Not that I would be sleep under the stars but I would love to see and photograph.

Nana wow I thought schools in NJ were always having days off but you school has a lot too!

Laurie those cupcakes sounds so cute

Have a great day all!

Morning Ozzies!! had a great date night last night, even though it was a total guy kind of night. We went to Montana's for Steak and sat on the Bar side so MG could watch his Bruins play against the Maple Leafs (they won!!) Drank beer and went to the movie Zero Dark Thirty, long movie but very good! Only a couple of fog patches on the way home, so it was a very enjoyable night! DS is out visiting DD for a couple of days so they facetimed their Dad for his birthday and he got many phone calls wishing him a Happy Birthday. It was a nice day for him!!
Today MG is painting the last wall of the living room and then he will be done, it looks great with a lighter colour and it really brightens up the place! Yesterday afternoon I mailed off a parcel to DD filled with things for the baby and some maternity clothes for her, it cost me almost $35!!!! Can you belive it?? No wonder we don't use the mail service much anymore. Sheesh!!

LindaS - I loved your story about your conversation with your mom!! My mother did that once for me giving me a diamond ring that she thought I should give to my daughter Heather one day, I cried when she gave it to me, she new that she was getting dementia and she wanted to share her things while she could enjoy doing it. My DD was so very happy to have it and treasures it so much!! We both miss my mother, like Phylis says, we never stop missing them. So glad that you could share the love of your wonderful MOM in that way!

Chris - Don't ever stop being sappy!! We all could use some more sappiness in our lives!! How great that you had some bonding time with your DD, you should really take a photo of the painting that the two of you did, sounds like a great scrap opportunity!!

Laurie - I would love to do a day like you had!! Just time with the girls!! Sounds great, did you give your MG heck for eating the cupcake before you had time to take a picture of it??

Nancy- I was shocked to hear that your Devils lost so badly to the Penguins, but even more shocked to see the Bruins barley beat the Maple Leafs!! I mean the Leaf's really??? Hope you enjoy the game today!

well I best get dressed and get something to eat for MG and myself, I am hoping to do some scrapping while he is busy painting today! Gotta hit the grocery store for a few things too, perhaps if the weather cooperates we can squeeze in a walk today also! Have a terrific Sunday everyone!

HEHE!!! my Mom and I were talking last night and I told her the kids were out again and she said she was feeling pretty good and just insisted I bring them to her...I said no...and after 30 minutes of negotiating....we decided I would take them over so they could ride with her to church and then she would bring them home with her....and if she feels good, they are going to spend the night!!!! :whoo::partywine:bathbaby::partywine:music::partywine:laugh::partywine:party::partywine

Well....you get the idea

So Mike and I are going out to dinner tonight....if he can stand upright for more than 2 minutes....he gets so dizzy...from being sick for so long....it will be good for him, because I won't have to cook :hungry: and he will live that way, :laser: because without kids here for a change...I want to go out!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eyebrows: ;)

Nancy, no window yet. i think they have to wait for a bit better weather to install it. i'm looking forward to it!

Trudy, sounds like a great date night. we haven't had one of those in years. we are such curmudgeons. :hurt: wish my hubby could paint walls. he's color blind, and when the colors are close, he can't tell where he missed a spot. so guess who has been in charge of painting for 35 years???

Nana!!! woohoo!!! :cheer2:
